Self Post Sundays! - June 18, 2017

Posted: 17 Jun 2017 09:09 PM PDT

To foster more discussion about the games every Sunday we turn the subreddit into self-post only mode.

Self-Post Sundays are our main discussion day. On those days we only allow text posts directly about the games themselves.

Please save your images, fan art, screenshots, videos, etc to the other days of the week. Use this day to discuss the games. Other posts will be removed.

Breath of the Wild has really ruined other open world games for me.

Posted: 17 Jun 2017 10:06 PM PDT

Bought Horizon Zero Dawn during the E3 sale last week, and I've put maybe 15-20 hours into it. I am constantly hitting R3 when I see something interesting in the distance; I am constantly jumping against random walls to try and climb them; am I am constantly venturing into strange and difficult-to-access parts of the map and being disappointed when there's nothing there, not even a Korok Seed; I am also constantly marveling at how good the weather animation is, but keep expecting to be struck by lightning during every storm.

And when I go back to MGSV to try and finish it, or Blood and Wine, or Xenoblade Chronicles... it's the same damned thing.

Breath of the Wild has really ruined open world games for me. Nintendo has set a brand new standard, and it is just too, too high.

Minish Cap Price Skyrocket?

Posted: 18 Jun 2017 05:53 AM PDT

Has Minish Cap always been this expenisve or did its price skyrocket from the post hype of Botw? I'm trying to rebuild my old GBA collection but I saw that Minish is going upwards of 70 loose ouch!

What causes the difficulty to scale in BotW?

Posted: 17 Jun 2017 11:30 PM PDT

It's getting a little bit annoying running into constant white enemies. Is it possible to scale it back without a fresh start?

I know I'm late, but I just finished breath of the wild.... I was a little upset with the quick ending scene since a lot of the memory scenes were much longer. Either way, epic game.

I've noticed this in some fanart, but why do some people depict the three goddesses looking exactly like the three oracles?

BoTW expansions quest?

Posted: 18 Jun 2017 04:18 AM PDT

I haven't finished BoTW yet and have been avoiding spoilers as much as I can. I wanted to know if there has been any hint as to how quest oriented the expansions are. I´m loving the whole exploring and side quests but usually when playing open world games I tend to stop after the main quest is finished. I do a lot of exploring and side quests along side the main quests. More in BoTW than any other open world game :)

But from what I saw of E3 I found that the first expansion was more of small side quests (shrines and challenge mode) and not a big story quest I hope that is not the case.

Again I´m not finished with BoTW so no spoilers please :)

How different from Ocarina of Time is Majora's Mask?

Posted: 18 Jun 2017 03:18 AM PDT

Currently playing OoT for the first time and nearly done with it on 3DS, tho it feels a bit meh to me (my favorite 3D Zelda game is the first and only one I've played: Twilight Princess). Is MM a copy of OoT but with a different setting? The two games were made really close together after all

Commissioned some art and ended up disappointed

Posted: 17 Jun 2017 07:38 PM PDT

Hey guys! So... I commissioned a piece of art from a local artist. His portfolio looks amazing. I've even watched him work live and it always looks great. So I sat down with him and asked him to do a piece for me. He took dutiful notes and even had an artist's mannequin so we could get the exact pose and camera angle correct.

We agreed that I would pay him half up front and half upon delivery. He's a reputable artist with a decent following in my area, so I had NO issue trusting him. Here's the thing. He sent me an email with the finished image telling me I could come pick up the original any time I wanted. As soon as I saw it, I was devastated. Proportions were out of whack. The background we agreed on was omitted and was replaced by this black shadowy space.

I've never paid an artist to draw something for me. I've always either created my own art or bought something that was already finished. I'm not sure what the etiquette is here. I'm kind of lost for words. Can I get some advice?

BOW: Death Mountain Divine Beast minor skip

Posted: 17 Jun 2017 10:56 PM PDT

While activating the terminals aboard the divine beast I noticed the eye shaped hole in the door. I couldn't figure out what to do and after a while of screwing around I managed to clip through the hole, after realizing the glitch, i was able to replicate easily. When the beast is rotated so that the eye is longer vertically (sideways, looks like a cat eye not a human one) the hole is has enough room for link to fit through crouching. Go try for your self if you still can, just jump and crouch works every time so far. At first I thought this was the intended method until I realized that lighting the torch opened the door. Meaning you were supposed to shoot an arrow through the door. (Cuz like, why else would they make the door open if you could go through it.) This only skips like 10 seconds if you know what you are doing, but could be helpful in a speedrun.

Has anyone else discovered this or am I first?

Is the series main theme in Ocarina of Time?

Posted: 17 Jun 2017 01:39 PM PDT

I don't think I've heard it there. A bit strange that a flagship game for the series doesn't include the main theme.
