5 years playing Skyrim and I only just found out about the balcony on Dragonsreach

I love how you need the Amulet of Mara to attract a marriage candidate.

Posted: 17 Jun 2017 04:25 PM PDT

You literally need the help of a god to get laid.

10/10 immersion and realism.

i wish the houses we own can be made into shops, hotels, or restaurants. that way, our housecarls/followers can manage the place for us and made revenue out of them.

Leveling not a moment to soon indeed!

TIL that, after 1000+ hours, you can follow Camilla Valerius out of Riverwood so she shows you where Bleakfall is.

Posted: 18 Jun 2017 04:20 AM PDT

Stalled around in the shop for a moment, instead of just leaving right away, and I saw Lucan and Camilla arguing about how I don't know where Bleakfall is. I decided that just for the heck of it, I'd let the scene play itself out.

When you're desperate for that heavy armour skill boost

Posted: 17 Jun 2017 10:12 AM PDT

I mean, I am trying to prove you are a vampire, but thanks, I guess.

So gather round, my children, and hear the tale of Cenriel the High Elf's first weird ass adventure in Skyrim.

Cenriel is just a young High Elf, forced into the Thalmor by his parents, and forced out into the cold of Skyrim by his bitchy lovely boss, Elenwen. Something, something, go ask about the civil war, whatever, he's pretty sure she just wanted him gone.

So off he goes, having no idea what he is doing. Thanks to the idiot that controls him his lack of direction, he gets lost and somehow manages to adopt a dog named Meeko and nearly gets killed by necromancers and skeletons in one day.

He finds shelter in Morthal. He then realizes he hasn't actually been doing his job. So he goes to ask, he really does, but everyone is scared of something. Not him, because he'd switched to common clothes, because he's not stupid enough to wander in Thalmor robes. Because everyone would certainly want to talk to him if he wore those.

Turns out there are vampires! Lovely. He completely forgets his job, because he doesn't actually care about the civil war, or his unwanted job thanks mom and dad, and decides to help out.

That Alva woman turns out to be a vampire. He knows this, for he snuck into her house and stole her journal. And she caught him and he had to kill her. In self defense, you know!

So there he is, somehow leading a bunch of villagers to a vampire lair. Somehow they think he knows where the cave is.

Why, exactly, is there a courtier running up to him? And why does he have a letter of inheritance? Who does he know in this ice cube place?

Maybe Elenwen died while he was gone! No, wait, she wouldn't leave him anything, she hates him. She's probably alive, dammit.

Aaannndd... it's from Alva. Who he had to kill. Also he knew her for maybe a day. She flirted with him, sure, but he's pretty sure she just wanted to make him a thrall or something.

So... thanks, he supposes. He's not sure why she'd leave him anything, but he's not arguing. It's not like a certain harpy fantastic boss of his bothers paying him.

Skyrim is weird.

Rate my build idea: Vampire brute

Posted: 18 Jun 2017 06:15 AM PDT

This build focuses on a Vampire who is more concerned with physical fighting than magic, but still possesses decent knowledge of some schools.

Main skills:

  • Two-handed (I think a battleaxe is the most fitting weapon)
  • Light armor
  • Conjuration (focusing on necromancy)

Secondary skills:

  • Restoration (Necromage)
  • Illusion (can provide a fun alternative to combat)
  • Alteration (defensive spells)

More details:

  • I don't think race matters much, but I'd pick Nord so I can ally myself with Orthjolf in the Volkhiar Castle who fits this kind of build
  • You would of course join the Vampires in the Dawnguard DLC
  • This character would be exceedingly evil and cruel so plenty of murdering and taking the evil side in quests

What are the best places to steal from?

Posted: 18 Jun 2017 06:01 AM PDT

I'm playing a thief character for the first time, and really enjoy pick pocketing keys off of people and robbing their houses. Which are the best places to rob in Skyrim?

TIL that Followers can only be killed by the player or other followers.

Posted: 18 Jun 2017 07:13 AM PDT

After seeing a lot of people saying that their follower died by an enemy or falling to their death, I decided to do some test if it is true, so I decided to use Uthgerd the Unbroken since she's non-essential and easy to get to, so I used Console Command to spawn 10 Arch Cryomancers and she only got to yield state, never dying, reloaded with her as a non follower she died a few seconds, so my conclusion is that many people unknowingly actually killed their followers by their own weapons or magics.

6 years after I bought skyrim, and I finally made it past Whiterun

Posted: 17 Jun 2017 05:36 PM PDT

I pre-ordered this game long ago and played it for about an hour and thought this game was dumb and stopped playing it. Over the years I've tried my best to give this game a go with over 40 hours and almost never getting past Whiterun.

I really wanted to like this game and I couldn't figure out what was causing me to like this game. I've tried playing melee or magic only builds, downloading mods, even writing a backstories for some of my characters to see if it would help me immerse myself into the game but nothing worked. Dawnguard, Hearthfire, Dragonborn, all of this extra content being released with all of my friends praising this game for what it's done and how it still stands the test of time even after all these years.

Though about a week ago while I was busting down the 4th dimension in my mind. Something happened that brought skyrim to my mind and I booted it up. I made a character and just let myself go. Exploring caves, going off the beated path and letting my character be himself. I've explored so much of skyrim and I feel as if I only touched the surface and I can't wait to see what the world of skyrim has opened for me and I don't even have any DLC.

Generic Spoiler

TL;DR: Played Skyrim when it first game out and hated it, recently started playing it 6 years later and loving it!
