New Grand Exchange Teleport scrolls from Clues - how about West Ardougne instead?

Posted: 01 Mar 2018 03:35 AM PST

Or somewhere else which is also useful.

We don't need GE teleports when you can tune the Varrock Teleport there or use any T2+ luck ring.

Also hideyholes say you don't have enough space to take the items even when you do, happens every time I try to take the 3 items with 4 inventory spaces

Allow us to make Globetrotter charges with Fortunate components to keep them in demand. Clue items are crashing big time

This will sink Fortunate components and create a steady demand for them and maintain the prices of clue items.

The new Puzzle box's are great! BUT!

Posted: 28 Feb 2018 11:36 PM PST

I love them, they are really responsive and they look absolutely beautiful! But, in the past 14 elites I have had 34 Puzzle box's and 4 Celtic knots. This just annoys me, there use to be an even amount, and now its all just bloody puzzle boxes. Please fix it up, they are getting really boring now!

Has anyone else noticed an increase in the frequency of puzzle sliders?

Posted: 01 Mar 2018 04:42 AM PST

Ever since monday's update I've noticed an increase in the frequency I get puzzle sliders compared to before the update (certainly on elite clues). I barely get any Celtic knots or no puzzle steps.

Is anyone else noticing this as well?

Edit: I've speculated that the system that determines whether a clue step has a puzzle is from back when clues were first introduced and that this underlying system allowed for this unintentional increase in frequency. I wouldn't be surprised if the mechanism 'rolls a dice' and every slider 'art' has a roll and then knots and no puzzle. That wouldn't be a problem with a relatively low amount of slider art, but this update introduced so much new art that it might have influenced the balance between those three options.

[Suggestion] Allow us to augment the level 75 globetrotter outfit.

Posted: 01 Mar 2018 03:06 AM PST

Please. The reason, in my eyes, is pretty simple. I need Venomblood for Saradomin Mages, I need Glow Worm for Lumbridge Swamp Scans. I need Mobile for everything else that doesn't have a teleport nearby.

I don't have the full outfit yet, but I think wearing it has a lots of perks that no clue hunter wants to keep taking off just to wear a different piece of armor for different clues steps.

Thanks for reading this.

Make tank armour have the same damage reduction in PvM as it does in PvP.

Posted: 01 Mar 2018 12:48 AM PST

Every time someone says that tank armour sucks in this game, they are almost immediately met with the same response that tank armour is OP in PVP, since damage reduction is more important than a small dps increase in PVP, since players are the most damaging "enemy type" in the game.

Ignoring the fact that most people who say tank armour sucks mean so in a PVM scenario, this still doesn't change the fact that the Tetsu armour in the wilderness is not the same gear as Tetsu in a PVM situation.

Let's take the superior tetsu body for example. This is among the most powerful items in PVP, with a 5.1% damage reduction in PVP, which is reduced to a pathetic 1.7% damage reduction in PVM for a tier 85 platebody. Why is this discrepancy a thing? It severely damages the useability of tank armour, to the point where the only tank gear that sees any use at all outside the wilderness is Achto, which is used more for the defensive resets than its raw stats, put that same effect on dps gear as low as GWD gear and no one will use achto outside of high enrage Telos. Tank armour should be buffed in PVM to have the same damage reduction as it currently does in PVP.

While I understand that this won't make them universally useful due to the philosophy of more dps = less time to get hit + more soulsplit heals +more kills/hour, tank armour being actually tanky would at least make it more useful for its raw stats for learners or tanks to actually reduce damage taken and food used, rather than almost unanimously regarded as trash as it is now.

Clue Scrolls - Bug Abuse

Posted: 28 Feb 2018 09:16 AM PST

Hi everyone,

We wanted to give you an update on the actions we've taken in response to the recent Clue Scroll bug.

Firstly, we take all forms of bug abuse very seriously. Where there is clear evidence that an account has been involved in, or associated with bug abuse, we will almost always take some form of account action. To that end I can confirm that we have permanently banned 4 accounts and temporarily banned 2 based on the evidence we've reviewed. We have left no stone unturned in our investigation and those who seriously misused this bug have permanently lost access to their account.

Secondly, we fully understand the concerns you have all raised. We acted decisively to minimise the impact this bug had on the health of the game, and our initial analysis shows that the effect on the economy has been negligible. Once we became aware of the issue we immediately locked all accounts involved as a precautionary measure, allowing us time to fully investigate and review those potentially involved. We then removed as many illegitimately obtained items from the game as possible by:

  • Permanently banned the accounts which abused the bug
  • Permanently banning accounts involved in real-world trading linked to the bug abuse (over 50 accounts)
  • Removing illegitimate items from genuine player accounts & replacing the items with the GP originally spent (essentially a refund)

We are working to remove every item which was injected into the economy as a result of this bug, we are satisfied that the majority have already been traced down & removed, and those involved in serious rule breaking permanently banned.

Our players are experienced gamers who understand RuneScape and we feel it would be fairly obvious to most people that this was not the intended way to earn rewards. Players should avoid sharing reproduction steps on social media, as it can attract unnecessary attention & ultimately cause more damage to the game.

Finally, we'll take time to review how this happened and what steps we can take going forward to prevent similar incidents from happening again. While severe bugs are exceptionally rare we recognise the impact they can have on our players, our community and the economy, and we will strive to do better.

Thank you to those players who took the time to flag this to us & for the continued support.

Why is There Selective Banning for Account Sharing

Posted: 28 Feb 2018 05:10 AM PST

This has blown up in a few discords I am in due to a few people's recent achievements. Because of it, a few people claim account sharing is no longer a bannable offense, while others quote the official stance from the runescape website.

"Each account should only be used by one person. Never share your account with anyone else, doing so will likely get the account banned. Players may not sell, share, transfer or lend their account to anyone else. Players should not accept an account that anybody else offers, as they may be stolen, and this could lead to your own account being disabled!"

Some people use this sub point of the same rule to try to justify it: "scores are there to measure the achievement of an individual, not a group of players or 3rd party. Also, if disputes occur or friendships breakdown, it can lead to at least one of the parties permanently losing access to the account or having it stripped of wealth and items."

And they basically say that as long as it's not done for furthering an accounts prestige it's fine, but if their is a dispute later about the account then you're screwed.

So, has Jagex's status on account sharing changed over their official rules? If so could they please inform us of their new rules? If not, why (besides they advertise their game and want more people to play it) do they not take action against people who blatantly account share such as streamers, and the common folk who do so for other reasons?

..is how much more often I'm running into players in previously dead locations. Previously it was pretty rare to run into someone doing the same clue as you, but already today I've encountered people in west ardy, eagles' peak hunter area, fremennik dungeon, the observatory, daemonheim (twice), and that one tribush south of yanille.

idk, it's nice to feel the world is more lived-in than just the bankstanders in w2 burth/ge and w84 ca.

The people who abused it (and took screenshots) revealed to us the relative rarity of each reward. This has been circulating on reddit and gives a ton of information.

Now we don't need to wait for a Jmod opening 1000 caskets stream anymore since this guy probably opened several thousands of these.

RuneScape 3’s community

Posted: 27 Feb 2018 09:16 AM PST

Is fucking fantastic.

I went from OSRS to RuneScape 3 to see what's new and playing catch up. First day I signed in got greeted super nicely. While training prayer, a dude just randomly gave me 3m worth of big bones. I've gotten pked a couple times while training prayer, however, the majority of pkers that come by are always like "Gl with prayer!" And go about their business. The generosity and overall niceness of the community has got me more motivated to play RS3. That, and quite honestly, I'm loving the game itself as well. It's been years since I've touched RS3, and I'm glad to have started again. :)

Jagex, with the Completionist Cape rework being polled, it’s time to have a talk that’s long been avoided

Posted: 27 Feb 2018 12:20 PM PST

TL;DR: I am not proposing the reduction of time for the CW requirement, rather, a more rewarding experience for everyone.

You probably already know that this post has to do with Castle Wars from the title. To start out, I am NOT proposing a removal of the requirement (though i wouldn't oppose it).

The current qualm with the requirement is either 1. The amount of time it takes or 2. The amount of time it takes for absolutely no cumulative reward in the process. Currently, players have to give away 500-800 hours of game time to complete this requirement. That is 500-800 hours of no clues, no enjoying other content, no gaining exp, no making gold. It's quite literally 500-800 hours of not playing the game we want to play.

The issue I'll be focusing on is 2, the amount of time it takes for absolutely no cumulative reward.

The solution I propose for this is simple. Firstly, we instance the game so players can be found to play games. Then, we allow each side to gain 2 tickets per game, no matter a win or a loss, and allow the winning side to receive BXP as well as cumulative points to buy things such as:
• Cosmetics
• Armor ornament kits
• Castle war pet(s) (like a mini castle and/or a mini lanthus that wears the profound items/games capes you have and displays the number of games played)
• Titles("the Enthusiast" "the Hobbyist" "the Professional" etc)

So many people take issue to removing the requirement, so I think this is a happy medium.

Let's break the list down pros/cons style:

Pros:
• Leaves the requirements required time totally in place
• Allows the trimming community to afk their requirement. Let's not pretend this doesn't already happen via FC's, ergo, this does not damage gameplay
• To extend on the last point, allows the AFK option to be done with intended gameplay and not the gameplay manipulation done by lobbying and switching sides
• Rejuvenates what I believe to be the most fun mini game by providing incentive for non trimming players to go for rewards and allows the trimming community to be rewarded for playing should they want to
• Allows for very easy development as opposed to totally reworking the requirement or making "Castle wars 2"
• Allows current friend chats to be left in place (there's two big ones) and continue their rivalry by healthily battling one another on the field for extended rewards as opposed to the current toxic, crashing environment
• Leaves current trimmers happy, makes the current trimming players happy
• Removes the possibility of spending 23 minutes of gameplay for virtually near 0 reward by losing
• Mini Lanthus wearing your obtained profound pieces + game capes gives those items incentive
• Makes Castle Wars Great Again

Cons:
???

u/zezimahot69 is accredited for coming up with the mini lanthus pet and specific title names. Please let me know your opinions.

Edit: This post has been acknowledged as seen by Mod Timbo, the one doing the cape redesign. That in of itself means nothing, as in no change or promises of change, but at least it may possibly be tossed around in discussion behind the scenes or on a stream.
