Posted: 05 Aug 2018 08:19 AM PDT Bayonetta has been a detriment for Sm4sh's competitive scene for years, and the EVO GF was the straw that broke the camel's back imo. Despite the fact that many people seem confident that Bayo is not gonna be the same character we saw in the E3 demo because "Sakurai shook his head," sadly I could still very much imagine her getting far fewer changes than some people are optimistically banking on. If this is indeed the case, and Ultimate launches and Bayo is still what she is now, can we agree to make a concrete decision and ban her from tournaments? I hope we can, because if we don't we can for sure expect Ultimate to suffer the same fate Sm4sh did, and watch as 1 character slowly saps the game of all its vigor and fun, both for players and viewers. Feel free to downvote me for my opinion, but I do wanna stress it is just that. I'm not saying Bayo players are scum, I'm not saying TOs are idiots for not banning her in Sm4sh, I'm simply stating that I see in others and myself personally how over years Sm4sh became less fun to play and watch, and imo a lot of it had to do with Bayo. Because of this I would personally hate to see this happen again in Ultimate. Ideally Bayo will naturally mesh with the rest of the roster from launch and not stand out as she has done, but if not I have serious concerns about ultimate's competitive future. Also sorry for any typos, on mobile right now. Edit: I need to stress this: I don't WANT to see any character banned, and I'm not calling for an (umbra) witch-hunt. I want nothing more than for every character to be viable and none to be super OP, but that's not how Smash games are designed. All I'm saying is this: if Ultimate has an OP character and we're sitting around a bunch of switch consoles in 3 years time after the game's stopped getting patches trying to play in tournaments, I want any and all OP characters BANNED, either until Nintendo fixes tbhem or if need be indefinitely. Otherwise the game's competitive future is, to put it bluntly, fucked.
