| How The Forest ruined 7 days for me Posted: 05 Aug 2018 04:50 PM PDT So apologies if this gets long winded. I've played 7 days since abbout A8ish, and I picked up The Forest about 3 months before 1.0 was released. This isn't about different game mechanics but rather factors that I think should be the same between the games. The first thing I noticed was that on The Forest's title screen was a countdown for the next update displayed in Weeks/Days/Hours/Minutes/Seconds. They didn't always hit it, but it was only delayed by a day or 2. The main thing though is The Forests natural game progression. You can survive endlessly on the surface, build a mansion etc, but the devs have scattered one-off items, map, compass and unique weapons throughout the cave system. Plus there is a story line, or at least there's a few game moments that made me go, WTF. No spoilers so I won't go into them. 7 days lacks all of this, at its core I don't see it being any different to how it was back in A8. Yes there's more items to construct and a skill tree, but there's no in game reward system, either direct or indirect. Finally the achievements, I'm not an achievement hound but I often look at them to get an idea of what kind of gameplay the devs expect from us. The fact that every style of achievement in 7 days is stretched out over 3/4 actual achievements shows me that the devs don't have an idea of actual gameplay for this game. I've enjoyed 7 days immensely, but I'm disappointed in the increasingly lax and unprofessional attitude from the devs. And yes, I don't think you're allowed to comment on this game without saying I've got my money's worth so there it is. | Creating a map/scenario for you and your friends to enjoy Posted: 05 Aug 2018 03:29 PM PDT Hello Lads So do you recall a time when you first fired up the game and the thrill of the first time the night came for you? It was fantastic wasn't it. I have always had an urge to create maps, which I have done in many games for that community. Now what I am creating is not a mod or some massive world, just a mere scenario with some interesting structures. Basically, you will be able to download the map, toss it in your save game fold and off you go ( as far as I know). And it will also be a small file to download. This should work even with your friends if you wish to play with them. Correct me if I am wrong and if I am, tell me the best approach to make it so. The goal is to put you in an environment with some rules to follow to bring back that haunting thrill and give you the challenge of survival. ( along with some secrets to discover ) If there is one thing you must know about me, I have a high attention for detail. Even with the small things so I do my best to make things visually appealing while using the materials at hand. Also, I love telling stories within the things that I create. My question to you is, would you guys be interested in this sort of thing? It will be a short while before its ready, although I am about 50% finished. [link] [comments]  | ||

As an introduction, I've played 160 hours on this game so I have a decent grasp of it. I'm very cooperative, don't cause fights (I prefer to talk to things out, lame, I know), and enjoy helping others. I like mostly staying at the base and farming/fortifying/smithing but I do also like scavenging and exploring. I currently have 3 online friends who are getting bored and 2 IRL friends that might wanna join when A17 roles out. Until then, I need a good group! I would like a moderately populated server (~15 to 20 regulars, not that much on at the same time though). I want there to be enough space that I can loot and build in (relative) peace. At the same time, I'd be interested in trading/working with other groups, and maybe even building a city! My current game is on 3 and I want 5-6. Basically, there is no real threat right now, except for the occasional mistake, but that's it. So, if you have a good server like what I've described that you can recommend that'd be awesome. Please respond or send me a pm TL;DR: Your ADHD is worse than mine. Basically I'm easy going, looking for a moderately populated server with a 2-4/5 person group I can join. | War of the Walkers, save/load? Posted: 05 Aug 2018 03:06 AM PDT I just downloaded the game launcher and decided to give War of the Walkers a go, last night i made some good progress and when i decided it was time to get some sleep i couldnt find anywhere to save the game, thinking perhaps it was self save, i left and today i need to start again :( I attempted to load the last save but it loaded up on day 3 (same day as i was up to the prior night) but in vanilla without any of the goods id acquired. So can someone ELI5 and tell how how the hell i save and load games here? [link] [comments]  |
