| Posted: 05 Aug 2018 04:17 PM PDT So I wanted to test something out I made my colonist take every drug every day, and she overdosed, should have predicted it, but it was more interesting then that, she proceeded to move while being down, and she continued to take drugs, and then she died, but while being dead, she still took drugs, and then her dead body just started wandering, real slow, and even craft something REAL slow, so that was fun. | Posted: 05 Aug 2018 05:33 PM PDT Some time ago (modded B18), I began a tribal start with 4 of the usual suspects: a doctor (Ramsey), a handler/farmer (Baron), a ranged hunter/constructor (Jackal), and a chef/crafter (Jenny). I also randomized up a 12 melee pawn with the traits "jogger", "brawler", and "bloodlust": James. See the first post for more details. Story 2: The Black Knights 3 days after the first encounter with the Galactic Empire (see story 1), my colony was visited by a group from a medieval faction (medieval mod and hospitality mod). Among these visitors was a pawn named Tori. Tori had great gardening skill, mining skill, and the completely busted "Green thumb" trait; I had to have her. James used his manly charm to woo her into joining our colony. For those who don't know about the hospitality mod, you can recruit visitors at a sizable cost to your relationship to the faction the visitors are from. I didn't realize that my relationship with the medieval faction was not the best at the time. As soon as Tori joined the colony, about 8 medieval warriors (who were already in our base and past our defenses) instantly agroed onto my colonists. The warriors started wrecking all of my shit. They incapacitated Ramsey, Baron, and Jenny in a matter of moments. Jackal faired better using a blaster he stole off of a dead stormtrooper, but he too was cut down after only shooting 2 of the attackers. James, meanwhile, was having a nice line of cocaine with his new friend, when he noticed that they were surrounded by 6 angry knights. James was not one to leave a line of cocaine unfinished, so he finished up while one of the knights repeatedly stabbed his leg. After he was sufficiently high, James whipped around, pulled out his lightsaber, and cut the poor bastard's head clean off. He then harnessed his inner neck-beard and got to work defending his maiden Tori. 4 of the 5 remaining knights went down like the 2 melee skill wussies they were. But then there was knight 5; Andrew. Andrew had a 13 melee skill, a very sharp long sword, and, most importantly, a cocaine-free body. Andrew sliced off James's right arm with one swift stroke. James, not being one to let someone get away with a scummy move like that, took Andrew's left arm in a neon lightsaber flash. The back and forth of lost limbs went on for several minutes. James was eventually forced to try to club Andrew over the head with a stubby handless arm, while an armless Andrew gnawed at James's ankles. The whole affaire was rather undignified. Their epic "duel" was interrupted when Tori bashed Andrew's spine with a club; killing him. By the end of the battle, James had lost an arm, a hand, his jaw, an eye, and 3 toes. It was then that I noticed that Tori also had a good melee skill. It wasn't anything like James's melee stat, but it was nothing to sneeze at. James and Tori had so much in common; their melee proficiency, substance abuse, fascination with clothes made of people, etc. After the colony had recovered and James had been rebuilt 6 millions dollar man style, they became lovers. That is the end of my second James, Slayer of Evil stories. Comment if you would like more. Thank you for reading! [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 05 Aug 2018 10:22 AM PDT Have a pretty successful mountain base. 13 pawns solid defense, happy pawns, lots of food, chickens etc. Then Randy decided I've had it too easy and shit all over my base. So I decide to send a caravan to the next town over (1day) send 3 pawns. They go on their way. Then a mechanoid raid happens (4 scyther). Hold them off but 2 pawns dies including my OP guy. Everyone is pretty much injured. Bandaging then up and get hit with flu and muscle parasite. Then poison ship lands right in my farm. Then my caravan gets raided and all 3 pawns die. Poison ship destroys my farm. Dog goes berserk from death of pawn and kills all my chickens. When I attack Mechnoid ship it kills 6 pawns including remaining doctors so gonna die from infections on survivors (remember flu). I scum save like 45 mins prior pre caravan. But this time exotic trader shows up then poison ship lands and when I attack it the traders go after it. They get destroyed but kill mechnoids and I get all their drops. | Posted: 05 Aug 2018 07:54 AM PDT Thought I'd start a completely random playthrough with a random starting place and colonist. Ended up with a guy who was relatively capable, but I had to start in a tundra. With 10 days growing period. Touched down next to a steel building and rich soil. Immediately planted rice, harvested the first bew birch trees, made a small base, duck up some extra wall sticking out for steel and set mining. A few days in I got cargo pods that contained enough camelhair to make a good parka and started feeling kinda confident. Over the next season I survived on the small rice harvests, a few clumps of berry bushes and the occasional caribou passing. Managed a few basic defenses such as a Deadfall trap corridor and stone chunk blockade. Then came raid that I was sure would wipe me out. Three guys, one with an LMG, one with and autopistol and one with a steel knife. The only good thing was they were on the other side of the map. I prepared to make a heroic last stand with my shortbow until four manhunting wolves appeared on the same side of the map as the raiders. The ensuing fight took out everything apart from one injured wolf that went down easily. The meat gave me a boost too. However I was running out of food and was to to three days worth. Still only one guy and only two hares left on the map. Then, landed 185 potatoes enough for simple meals that lasted until the next herd of elk came through. I'm back in Aprimay now and celebrated my 1 year anniversary by recruiting a colonist capable of research. Now the real fun begins... [link] [comments] |

| What is the worst luck you have had with this game? Posted: 05 Aug 2018 09:13 AM PDT In my first world, I had found out where the ancient danger tomb thing is and made sure to avoid it because I figured it was a bad idea to open it up. So, life goes on in my colony, when suddenly a tornado happens. The tornado newlines it to the tomb thingi, and opens all of the caskets inside. Each one had a space super soldier in it. At this time I was pretty average with tech, and my defenses needed some work. So suddenly I see 4 space super soldiers breaking out of the tomb and slaughtering all of my colonists because they all sucked with weapons. That's my story, what's yours? [link] [comments] |
