Monday Megathread! Ask questions and share knowledge; newcomer questions encouraged!

Posted: 05 Aug 2018 07:36 PM PDT

Welcome to the latest Monday Megathread, where you the community get to ask your questions and share your knowledge.

This is an opportunity for the more experienced LoL players here to share some of your wisdom with those with less expertise. This thread will be a weekly safehaven for those "noobish" questions you may have been too scared to ask for fear of downvotes, but also can be a great place for in depth discussion if you so wish. So, don't hold back, get your game related questions ready and post away, and hopefully someone can answer them!

As an Ezreal player I wish Kleptomancy was removed from the game.

Posted: 06 Aug 2018 07:01 AM PDT

This isn't about winrate or viability and if anything I prefer his winrate to be on the lower side so I can actually play him. I'm tired of being forced to go Klepto every game because if I go another keystone it won't have the same impact that Klepto has because Ezreal is literally balanced around it. Riot has nerfed Ezreal's early damage so much that I can't even play aggressive like I use to. Since Klepto is in the game the logic is why should Ezreal have decent damage early just to be able to get generate gold to have a strong Mid game as well. In previous seasons though, I had an option. I could choose to go tear and ff my early game and try to have a good mid/mid-late game, or I can rush a Triforce and skip the test build overall and try to have a very strong early and mid game. I'm only allowed to have one play style with Klepto being in the game. Even last season, Ezreal was seen being able to go SR Surge for jungle, Warlords, Thunderlords, Fervor and they were all viable at one point in SoloQ and Competitive. He's also one of the handful of champions that even use the Keystone so it's only really shackling him and the others.

TLDR - Ezreal has less diversity in runes and play styles because of a Rune that is part of a system that was suppose to bring more diversity and options to champions. He's balanced around it and is a slave to it and many other champions suffer the same problem.

Suggestion - In-game Client Calendar

Posted: 06 Aug 2018 08:40 AM PDT

Hi everyone, I had a suggestion for Riot that I wanted to share here for your feedback and thoughts.

Admittedly, I'm an old WoW player and I continue to have my ebbs and flows with the game. One small feature that WoW has for their players is an in-game calendar which I believe could translate fantastically into LoL (especially wth the direction that the game is headed):

An in-game client calendar would provide a lot of organization and an additional layer to the social aspect of the game. Ideas so far include...

-Filters to show your favorite professional team(s) games with correct time zones and notifications for when they're playing

-The ability to create your own "events" (great for planning Flex/Clash games, custom matches, or Streamer + audience games, etc.)

-Holidays & themed events

-Dates that show the rotating game modes

-Expected patch launch dates & skin releases

-Skin sales

I think this would be a lot of fun and I'd certainly use it with my friends to make sure we all logon at the same time for a flex game. I certainly think with the way Clash can end up, a calendar would be very beneficial. Let me know your thoughts! Do you have any other ideas that could go along with it?

New champion speculations (the chained one)

Posted: 06 Aug 2018 11:12 AM PDT

I raised brightness and contrast of teased image
here: https://i.imgur.com/8HIBrvk.png

  • champion either has hooves or is wearing heels (probably hooves though)
  • judging by architecture it's a valoran city (either Demacia or Noxus), but Noxus chains would be darker so I assume the new champion is a prisoner in Demacia (or location in petrified forest)
  • chains are highlighted so they may be important part of his kit

What happened to Mike Yeung is exactly what is happening to Grig right now.

Posted: 06 Aug 2018 07:12 AM PDT

I'm not gonna say Grig was ever as hype or as good as Mike but they ended up going down the same path. Mike had a lot of pressure when he joined TSM after his incredible split on P1. Unfortunately, that pressure got to him. He was more and more demoralised with each loss and clearly it took a toll on his mentality. He's not even playing that well in Academy.

Fast forward to now with Grig. Same thing is happening. Grig probably knows he is in the middle to low tier Junglers for the whole NA, playing in TSM in itself is already an extremely high pressure situation and from what I've been seeing from TSM: Legends and the community is the team is slowly imploding upon itself. It feels like there is Bjerg/Hauntzer vs Zven/Mithy and the Grig and Mike caught in the middle of a less than ideal environment.

Just watching Grig on stage after the loss this weekend was just heartbreaking. I think he's a little more fragile than Mike, Mike would just look stoic and walk off stage but inside he is probably experiencing the same turmoil Grig showed.

I'm no expert, we don't know everything behind the scenes, but it feels like there is a large rift between TSM right now and that's halting any progress this team could be making. Couple that with the Junglers being the one role that TSM is willing to swap in and out leaving both of them feeling like crap and probably the lowest points in their career. I'm actually more concerned for TSM than CLG right now and I don't even like TSM.

Fun Facts about MarkZ and Jatt's predictions!

Posted: 05 Aug 2018 11:42 PM PDT

I was bored so I looked at some of the stats from the predictions. Here are some fun things.

  • Jatt has picked C9 to win in 12/14 games, compared to Mark's 6. The only 2 games that he didn't predict in C9's favor were the week 6 games, and C9 went 2-0 that week. This means that he predicted C9 in every game for the first 5 weeks, despite their weak start. C9 Jatt?

  • Jatt has only predicted FLY to win twice, he is FLY's least favorite analyst I bet

  • Mark predicted GGS to win 4 times, and they lost all of those games

  • Every time the desk was split on a TL game (Mark choosing one winner and Jatt choosing another) TL won

  • Both Mark and Jatt have picked TL to win in 11/14 games, but both of them would have better records if they had simply picked TL in every game

  • Even with 11/14 picks from both analysts, TL is only the second most picked team. The first is.....TSM

  • Mark picked TSM 12 times in a row; the only two games in which he hasn't picked them was their first game of the season (vs CLG) and their most recent game vs FOX.

What did you guys think of the mini documentary on Faker?

Posted: 06 Aug 2018 05:10 AM PDT

I never actually thought about how much stress he is under for someone who is so young (he's the same age as me or just about). Can you imagine having the entire world look at you under a microscope? This really opened my eyes and realized he's just a normal guy — just like everyone else. He's not a league god robot or some superstar (although he is). He's trying to live a normal life and seeing him spend time with family and to learn little aspects like how he enjoys reading really was so nice to see.

The Ultimate Guide for LCS teams looking to defeat TSM next week

Posted: 05 Aug 2018 07:13 PM PDT

  1. Send 1 person bot, preferably the top laner
  2. Have 4 people defend mid, don't fight until your other member has reached inhib
  3. Watch TSM crumble

Please follow each step carefully to secure your free win.

Janna outplay on Wukong

There should be an "bonus LP gain" for winning a game you were autofilled in.

Posted: 06 Aug 2018 04:40 AM PDT

so people in low elo (im EUW gold) generally don't even try to win when they are autofilled. And i'm not talking about the "give me jungle or i run it down", this one is pretty rare. The more common is just playing a champ for the first time and not just caring about the outcome and this makes the game not fun for anyone. Gaining extra LP for winning maybe an incentive to actually try in these games.

The bonus itself may be flat gain like +10 LP, or it could be based on your rating for the game, so an S gives you an extra 20, while a C gives you like 3, so you don't both get carried and get a big bonus while playing bad.
