If bosses aren't balanced with slayer helm boosts in mind, should they be balanced around auras? Posted: 01 Feb 2018 05:51 AM PST When Nihil tasks became a thing, people asked if Nex could count towards a Nihil task and as such benefit from the slayer helm boost. The response was that 1) Nex technically wasn't a Nihil any more, and 2) the 14% accuracy and damage boosts from the helm would be difficult to balance around. The same happened for the Magister - while you can use Tuska's Wrath on task for sweet 15k hits, the slayer helm doesn't give an accuracy or damage boost in this encounter. With this in mind, should new bosses be balanced taking auras, especially the zerk auras, into account? From this guy's calculation in the accuracy aura post, a zerk aura provides almost 20% more accuracy, on top of 10% more damage, compared to being auraless with the same boosts. Posted: 01 Feb 2018 07:03 AM PST Tuzzy is a HUGE time gate that should either be removed or reworked. It could easily take you years (and has already for some) to get this pet looting once every two days. Option 1 - remove Tuzzy from Liberator title Option 2 - ability to get Tuzzy on non-loot runs Option 3 - Tuzzy as 100% drop if all other drop logs completed [link] [comments]

Give Agility Experience from Escaping from ROTS Tunnels Posted: 31 Jan 2018 06:01 PM PST The ROTS tunnels are hella harder than any agility course, why not give a small amount of xp, like 500, for successfully escaping the tunnel? [link] [comments]

Dungeoneering Bug Abuse -Key deleted- Posted: 01 Feb 2018 02:53 AM PST so I was dungeoneering today and the floor was going slowly, someone left and we kept going with 4 people. it was 20 minutes into the large floor and we had one door left (the boss) I saw the key and attempted to grab it but it was covered in empty vials I couldn't get the key. I didn't want to give up so I uncovered it by selling the vials to the guy at home only to discover the key was visible on the floor but had been deleted somehow (bug abuse) after I said this in chat a player then admitted he was behind this and so I played along to get information from him the following is the chat after I asked what's going on - Yes I voted to kick that guy and feelsbadman but whatever it was 25 minutes in and I wanted my exp

How Do I Get Myself Into High-Level Group PvM? (A Guide) Posted: 31 Jan 2018 04:04 PM PST Introduction Before you read this post, be advised that it is a much longer read than most of you may be accustomed to. I prefer being thorough and providing detailed information. This is also my first post, and there may be some formatting errors i'll have to address. That being said i'm not above admitting that i'm capable of making mistakes, so if you see an error or something out of date, do not hesitate to correct me. To provide a bit of background about myself, I've been playing RuneScape since I was 12 years old, and spent about 2 years learning how to PvM. In those 2 years, I gathered and incorporated massive amounts of information into my PvM, and while i'm by no means a high-end PvM'er that you might see today with all the best equipment or best DPS rotations, I can confidently say that I'm capable of doing most every role at every high-level boss encounter competently, with the exception of the Angel of Death encounter. Lately, I haven't had much time to PvM as much as I used to, the majority of the friends that I would spend my time with have either moved on to other games or have quit, and I simply don't have the interest in finding a new group of people to play with. What I do have however, is experience with teaching many people how to PvM, and introducing them to high-level content (mainly through raids). So, i've decided to put together a post about this experience, and the advice i've given to many of the individuals i've taught who have successfully become avid PvM'ers themselves. Hopefully, this will help those of you who are interested in enjoying all the encounters which require more than one person to fully enjoy. Are You Really Ready? Imagine wanting a job with some sort of expected base requirement. This is usually a high-school diploma or a college degree of some sort. If you want this job, you'll be expected to have said diploma or degree before the employers will even consider employing you. Similarly, you can't really expect someone to take you to raids or vorago if you've got level 70 base stats and a only a full set of armadyl to your name (there's plenty of joking to be done here, but i'm looking at this from a serious perspective). You need to have that degree, that diploma. If you have that, you're much more likely to be considered for high-level group PvM. Now, the inevitable power creep (the increase of power that players gain with new items/updates) has made the absolute best equipment in the game downright looney in terms of prices, due to items such as T92 weapons and augmented equipment, you can be looking at well over 1-2 billion gp just to have the absolute best equipment in the game. Assuming you're dealing with someone who isn't a golden boi (a piggish elitist), most people expect you to have the following:
Keep in mind this is what I consider to be the bare minimum, and all of these are relatively expensive requirements. Herblore, Prayer, and Summoning are all very expensive skills to invest in, and materials for perks can be quite pricey as well. It can be very daunting, considering that you will be watching hundreds of millions of gp go down the drain, but the aim of the game here is to turn this investment into a profit. Skills Ok, I've met all of the material basics, so let's hop right into the world of group PvM! Whoa buddy, not so fast. Okay you've got your material basics, but that doesn't necessarily mean you're ready to start doing group PvM. I mean, you can own a car, you can own a horse, or a boat. That doesn't necessarily mean you know how to use it. Unfortunately, this is the mindset alot of people have when they decide to start learning group PvM. "Ah, i'll just max or get my completionist cape, and i'll be all set!". Unfortunately, you need to be able to drive the car. Now, i'm not saying you should be able to pull off the craziest solo PvM feats, far from it. What I am saying is that you should be able to carry your own weight and have a competent understanding of what you're doing. These two things I generally look for in an individual when I decide whether they're capable of carrying their own weight or not.
Seems pretty simple right? Do damage and don't die. Well... that's because it is. If you're struggling in terms of surviving, the simple answer is to click on your food. All jokes aside, learning to survive comes with experience, the point i'm making here is that you should be willing to preserve yourself so that you can contribute, rather than potentially risking your life to waste other peoples' time. It's at this point that I would say, you can consider yourself ready. Putting Yourself Out There As much as I wish there was a way to get yourself into these teams without having to actually put yourself out there, this is nigh impossible. Putting yourself out there is part of the experience. I understand that this can be very difficult for some people - myself included. I'm an introvert by nature and struggle to initiate conversation and start things on my own. It took me months to actually convince myself to put myself out there when I realized I was never going to enjoy something like Raids or Vorago. Thankfully for you, the world isn't completely full of brainless pigs that are out there to insult your lack of experience and reject you. The truth is, there are actually various communities that exist solely to help you. The catch is, you have to be willing to put yourself out there. If you've ever applied for a job, or perhaps a university/college/school, you've probably heard this piece of advice; "sell yourself". Well, the thing is, the RuneScape community works in a very similar manner. The more appealing you can make yourself, the more likely someone will want to bring you along and teach you the ropes. Now, this isn't to say that you should spout blatant lies about yourself and overexaggerate. Most people who are looking to teach individuals tend to look for some key qualities. These include but are not limited to:
These are what I would consider the trinity of a good learner. If you can learn, listen, and apply what you listen to and learn, you'll be solid. Before I dive into actually putting yourself out there, I want to address the concept of "bullshit teams never wanting learners". This is most likely an unpopular opinion in a world full of entitled people, but here's my two cents on the matter; Teaching is generally a very large investment of time and energy. I can personally tell you that in my time teaching individuals how to PvM, I have had my fair share of frustrating days and seemingly fruitless sessions. Nobody in this game is under any obligation to teach you how to do anything. It is a very large investment and potential risk to take someone who has little to no idea as to what they're doing and include them in a team of anywhere from 2-9 other people who all have their own lives and time. Now, If you're in a scenario where someone tells you they'll teach you and then change their minds, that's a completely different story. However, if you're in a place like Raid FC, just because they advertise that their chat is open to learners, does not guarantee you that everyone is willing to teach you. Always remember, when you're looking to learn, you're at the mercy of your potential teacher(s). If someone says no, don't be discouraged. It's the worst case scenario, and that's that. With that lengthy spiel out of the way, let's take a look at some simple outlets. Friends If you've been playing for awhile, you most likely have someone on your friend that does group PvM all the time. Yeah, I'm talking about that guy who's managed his 15th Praesul Codex split within a week. Why not simply ask? Ask your friend(s) if they'd be willing to take you with their team and teach you. That's all it really takes. They're your friends after all, so at the very worst, you'll most likely get a no (unless they're like my friends who quit, in which case they'd say something like "lmao sorry bro you need to be able to kill bandos before i can take you to that"). Clans Okay, so maybe you're like me, and you don't have any friends. Nothing can stop the deep dark depression in your soul and your life consists of playing RuneScape alone whilst waiting slowly for the void to devour you. Well, there's hope for you yet. If you don't have friends, a good way to make friends is to join a clan. To the best of my knowledge, there are plenty of clans out there, such as Cursed Combatants, that focus on an environment that is friendly towards those who are newer to PvM and those who are proficient with it alike. Unfortunately, this is the only clan I know of which is publicly advertised as such, and I've only been in one other clan that fits these same characteristics, and I'm not entirely sure if it exists anymore. That being said, you can always search the RuneScape forums for clans under the recruitment thread, and narrow down your search from that point onwards. Clans are an excellent way to put yourself in a community that's both stable and reliable; unless it's a brand new clan, well established clans generally tend to be very good with the way they function and go about educating their members. You most likely will have to fill out an application of some sort, but most active clans are very good about reviewing these and responding to them in a timely manner. Remember, sell yourself, and make sure you live up to what you put in that application (if they ask any kind of subective open-ended questions). Friends Chats This is generally the last thing that people (like myself) will resort to. I function almost entirely off of friends chats for group PvM, simply because I can't be bothered with finding a new clan, or looking for friends. There are several friends chats out there dedicated to PvM. Friends chats like Boss School are out there solely to help you get your feet wet. An important thing to note when using friends chats are that they tend to have a set of rules and requirements that they expect to be followed, and are maintained on a relatively strict basis, due to the fact that their framework doesn't function like that of a clan's, and due to the fact that they tend to service higher volumes of players. While I wouldn't say friends chats are exactly the best way to establish yourself in a community, due to the fact that such a high volume of players frequent these chats for various purposes, they still definitely get the job done. I personally got myself into group PvM through an FC and established a group for myself through that community/opportunity. Conclusion/Miscellaneous Tips So, now that you've made it through my guide/dissertation, let's review.
As much as I'd love to personally start teaching players again, I've been swamped with school (I'm graduating from uni this semester), and I simply don't have the time. Additionally, i'm also out of my time, and don't play as well as I used to (I'm not aware of what's necessarily the best rotations/perks etc due to quitting for periods of time). That being said, I suppose this post is my way of giving back to the community. It is very lengthy, so you will need some time to make it through all of it, but I hope the information in it will have helped at least one person. I'd like to leave my RSN behind to answer questions in game, but I simply don't play enough to warrant that, but I do frequently browse reddit between classes, so feel free to inbox me or leave a comment if you have questions and I'll reply as promptly as possible. Please do take care of yourselves. Edit: I'm surprised at the amount of attention this post received. I'm very grateful to everyone who took the time to read this and benefitted from it. I made a couple of edits to the post, mainly areas in which I said i'd provide links to resources. I initially had several links to videos by "The Junesong", one my favorite (if not the only) RuneScape youtubers that I actively watch. Unfortunately, because I haven't been actually made any contributons to reddit, let alone this one (until now), I can't post twitch or youtube links. That being said, Junesong's channel is full of educational content with information on some of the most fundamental concepts of PvM, such as DPS rotations for each combat style, optimizing gear perks, and guides on how you can get yourself that initial stash of cash to begin purchasing those end game stats and equipment. He's also started doing a pretty entertaining progress series on unlocking all the boss collection titles I believe, which you might be interested in, and has a twitch stream as well. His youtube name is "The Junesong", and his twitch name is "TheJunesongRS". If you're looking for educational content provided by someone who has alot of experience in practically every aspect of high-level PvM, I highly recommend checking his channel/twitch stream out. All of his videos are his own content and I take no credit for any of his material; this is just a recommendation to everyone who reads this post, and I hope he doesn't mind that. Once again, thanks for taking the time to read this lengthy post, it really means alot to me, I enjoyed putting this together. If you're interested, I am rather entertained by the thoughts of making somewhat regular informational posts, so if that's something you'd like to see more of, don't hesitate to let me know. Please do take good care of yourselves! :) [link] [comments]
