| Just found this out in fallout 3 Posted: 06 Aug 2018 07:14 AM PDT When falling, wether it be from the tennpenny hotel, or the top of a cliff if an enemy is close enough to reach in vats with a melee you can in fact stop all the fall damage. [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 06 Aug 2018 05:56 AM PDT I know, could I get any more boring? Probably not. It's just that, every time I try to create my own character, they never come out very well. I've tried making ones that look like me. I've tried basing them off of real people or my favorite fictional characters, and I've even tried to make some based on already-existing characters in the series, but I feel like it's never right, you know? The one time I did play as my own original character, I ended up not liking him anymore about an hour and a half into the game. In Skyrim on the other hand, I'll spend hours designing characters and I mostly love how they turn out. It's the same case for 3 and New Vegas, too. Just not 4. And I find that strange, considering 4 probably has the most advanced character creator. I dunno, I guess I just suck at making characters and like how Nate looks already. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 06 Aug 2018 10:07 AM PDT I'd like to talk about my journey from absolutely hating Dead Money to considering it one of the best DLCs ever created. When I first completed Dead Money, I thought it was quite possibly the worst thing I had ever played - and I played Bubsy 3D. There are many reasons, some of them I still consider valid criticisms of the DLC. To list a few: I found it unnecessarily difficult. The enemies in the game are often referred to as walking cazadores, which may be a bit of an exaggeration, but the point is that they are extremely tough. And it should be noted that there isn't exactly a lot of variety when it comes to enemies; there are only the villa inhabitants and the holograms. The inhabitants are the walking cazadores, and the holograms are literally invincible unless you find their emitter. The radios were flat-out frustrating, and I'm still not sure I understand why they even exist as an obstacle. Elijah mentions them interfering with the frequency of your collar, but surely there would be a work-around for that? I mean, even Christine, who hasn't been working with these collars for nearly as long as Elijah, found a way to extend the time you have to evade them. I'm not necessarily saying that the inclusion of them as an impediment was a bad idea - it certainly added more stress and desperation to the game, which is a core theme of the DLC. However, I feel that they could have explained their existence in a better and less confusing way. Maybe they were sufficiently explained for you; I'm simply giving my perspective after playing through Dead Money twice. For the first time you play, if you aren't specced in the right skills (melee/unarmed, survival, sneak, etc.), Dead Money will drain your very life force. It's fairly linear in terms of game-play. Sure, you have some choices that affect the other characters' ending, but the entire sequence of events is entirely linear. You find the others, make them do their objective for starting the gala event, deal with each of them in the casino, and then find the vault and deal with Elijah. The other DLCs suffer from this as well, especially The Lonesome Road. This isn't necessarily a bad thing depending on your tastes; it simply makes the role-playing less important and story-telling more important. You are punished for taking the special speech options. Perhaps I'm being a bit unfair with this one, but it did frustrate me that if you take the speech options with Dean and inform him that his collar is tied to yours, he will try to kill you in the end, even if you were nice to him from there on out (i.e. setting up the holograms for his gala event). I get that there should be consequences for your choices in speech, but I'm not sure that there's any other part of FNV where you're punished for taking a speech option. Again, it's possible that I'm just being a little entitled to expect that every speech option is objectively better than the other options. It reminded me of Bioshock. This is probably an issue that only I hold with the game. I know that I'm not the only one who draws the comparison to Bioshock (little shop terminals to buy supplies, linear game-play, gritty theme, anti-paradise, tough enemies, etc.), but I'm likely of the minority in the sense that I disliked it because of its similarities to the game. I hated Bioshock for many reasons, but that could be a whole other Reddit post, so I won't go into that. Many of the reasons are the same as the ones stated above. I won't elaborate any further, as that would make this post much longer, I just thought I should add this reason for a little context. There are other small qualms that I had in my first play-through, but those should suffice, as I'm sure those are fairly common gripes among the other people who played Dead Money (aside from the Bioshock one). . . . Now, onto how my second run of the DLC made it become my favorite of FNV: The story is absolutely fantastic. Since I knew more about the environment and challenges in my second play-through, I could focus more on the story. And, oh boy is the story amazing. The base game talks about Elijah and his fanaticism, but you really get to experience it in Dead Money. I mentioned earlier that the story is linear, but the way that it's told entirely makes up for that. The legend of the Sierra Madre and its many secrets, nuances, conflicts, and background push the atmosphere to the extreme. It's already a gritty game, but learning more and more about the casino and its history extends that grittiness to levels I've never experienced before. In essence, the story, although in some ways similar to other games/movies, is unique in the way it makes the player feel. It's simply fantastic. The characters are compelling. Again, since I knew more about how to be successful in Dead money, I was able to absorb the characters better. Many people recognize this as the greatest strength of Dead Money, and rightfully so. Dog/God tells a story of inner conflict, Christine tells a story of revenge, and Dean tells a story of jealousy and greed. Elijah forces you to work with these people, and you slowly learn more about their intentions and their background. Each of their stories are unique and their introductions are iconic, in my opinion. God/Dog:
Dean:
Christine:
The ending is satisfying. You struggle through all the buildup - finding the others, starting the gala event, getting through the casino, unlocking the vault - and it pays off. The final talk with Elijah feels genuine and I was biting my nails thinking of what will happen. Then, you can either confront Elijah and blow that son of a bitch's head off, or trap him in the fault, leaving him to rot so close to victory. It's truly a cinematic and oddly beautiful way to end the story. To conclude, I'd like to apologize for downvoting anyone who said anything remotely good about Dead Money after I did my first play-through. I was unable to see how good it was because of how much I struggled to not die. Perhaps that's bad game design, making it so hard that the first play-through is unfun, but I honestly don't care. I enjoyed the second one so much that it doesn't really matter. I can't wait to play it again when I do another FNV play-through. After all, finding the Sierra Madre isn't the hard part. It's letting go. [link] [comments] |
| Fallout 76 B.E.T.A. Q&A was updated! Here's the critical information you need to know. Posted: 06 Aug 2018 12:13 PM PDT CORRECTION: FAQ, NOT Q&A https://fallout.bethesda.net/faq The beta is the full game and all progress will be saved for launch, meaning you won't need to restart. Essentially, everyone who preorders gets the game early and theoretically, the initial "launch" isn't November 14th, it's October. Bethesda.net will be the only platform for PC. Steam isn't confirmed as of yet. Let's wait for the quakecon Q&A Thought: if it's the full game, if someone completed all the content in the time they're given, what would they do for the actual launch... [link] [comments] |

| I Got Away With Murdering Marcy Long Posted: 06 Aug 2018 03:54 PM PDT I got so damn sick of her, I just pulled out my gun and shot. I didn't even save first. Somehow no one noticed or saw, and no one has said anything. All she has is flannel shirt and jeans for loot, which, just as disappointing in death as she was in life. I just wish Jun would move on and be happy, poor guy. [link] [comments] |
| Just finished Fallout 3 for the first time. Posted: 06 Aug 2018 03:46 PM PDT After years of playing Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4 (to the point where I could almost pull a Sinister1 and play them blindfolded) I finally got around to playing Fallout 3. And I have to say that I enjoyed it. It's very similar to New Vegas but also very different. The game has a lingering sense of fear and desperation which adds to the experience. I like that you are seen as a great hero of the wastes with Three Dog cheering you on over Galaxy News Radio or giving you crap if you screwed something up. Sorry Big Town. It was a nice change of pace after Fallout 4 where it felt like nothing I did made a difference. I loved that THE ENERGY WEAPONS ACTUALLY WORK. Unlike in Fallout 4 where you almost have to have a specific build in order to get any use out of them. The DLCs were great, although a bit short, and were actually better than the main game itself. I was a bit disappointed with Point Lookout though. There wasn't really much to it outside of Desmond's quest. I loved Mothership Zeta and I wish Fallout 4 had gotten something similar. So depending on who you believe, Fallout 3 is either the greatest game ever or the worst game ever (I'm looking at you hbomberguy). To me, it's neither. It's a fun game but it's not perfect. The combat is incredibly clunky, the map layout is atrocious and the overall look of the game is very drab. It's definitely my least favorite of the three Fallout games I've played but overall I enjoyed my experience with it. I'm not sure how to end this so I'll just say Fuck The Enclave. | Posted: 06 Aug 2018 09:10 AM PDT When you go to diamond city, theres an old lady with a shop selling clothes. Shes inside a building to the left. She talks about her husband being kidnapped by the institute and that everyone is stealing from her shop. You can buy an outfit abilities book from her. I found out that it just tells you what everything means and does. For example it says that utility worker uniform lets you craft rank 4 weapon mods. But I looked it up before and theres literally nothing about it. Theres a fan made wiki that has all the items in the game but not this one. Also, theres no such thing as utility worker uniform, theres only utility coverals. It also says that the "mail delivery uniform" gives you 55 carrying capacity. Thats not a thing, theres only the postman uniform that does nothing. The book also includes a climbing hook which doesn't exist. Go to her shop, go into the misc section and have a look at it. Has anyone else seen this? [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 05 Aug 2018 04:28 PM PDT The other day, I decided I would romance Cait after questing with her. After confessing my love for her, I see presten walk into frame saying "well, at least it's not raining." And dissapeard behind some hedges. Shouldn't have led the poor guy on. [link] [comments] |
| Opinions On Running Radio Stations in 76 Posted: 06 Aug 2018 04:09 AM PDT Here's my idea, you can find various songs on holotapes (music from previous games and stuff) and, if you have the resources you can broadcast it throughout the map, as well as being able to host radio shows and speak through it, people could tune in, and report radio stations if they're just kids screaming down their mic. | Fallout 4 always crashes near same spot (Xbox) Posted: 06 Aug 2018 01:41 PM PDT Hey, trying to make my way to Recon Bunker Theta to bring Brandis back to the BOS, but the game is constantly crashing -every- time I get near the spot. Can't go East past Lake Quannapowitt, can't go North past the Radio Tower, or west past Lynn Woods. I have an Xbox One X, all DLC, some CC mods. With Danse if that matters. I've tried quick travelling back and forth, telling Danse to wait, and still the same result. Has anyone else experienced this? Any possible known fix? [link] [comments] |
| Fallout 4: Favorite Companion Builds? Posted: 06 Aug 2018 10:45 AM PDT In Fallout 4 (and FNV), I like to deck my companions out in gear and give them homes that fit their personalities and backstories. I've included my preferences below, but I'm curious to hear from anyone else. I used mods and cheats to get these, fyi. Cait -Disciples Cowl -Disciples Wrap & Jeans -Studded Leather Chest Piece -Sturdy Polished Metal Arms -Polished Metal Legs -Chained Aluminum Baseball Bat -Bleeding Automatic Combat Shotgun -Overboss Power Armor (Optional) Cait takes a liking to the Disciples' style. Unrestricted violence is how she's kept herself alive. Plus, metal armor is a good call for anyone taking a lot of close-proximity punishment. The bat is her default melee weapon and the shotgun fits her up-close-and-personal fighting preferences. She spends her time alone at the Red Rocket Truck Stop, having outgrown the Combat Zone. She's become rather fond of Dogmeat. Codsworth -Vanilla He's a robot with built-in weapons. Also, hats are stupid. Sanctuary Hills remains his primary home. Curie (Miss Nanny) -Vanilla See: Codsworth Curie (Synth) -Rebel Hoodie (Mod) -Rebel Gas Mask (Mod) (Optional) -Operators Goggles (Optional) -Muffler (Mod) -Quinlan's Armor -Combat Armor Arms (BOS) -Pip Boy (Mod) -Backpack (Mod) -Medic Bag (Mod) -Two-Shot Overcharged Laser Rifle -Crippling Stunning Security Baton Curie has the know-how to take advantage of Pre-War technology. She's physically frail and unfamiliar with her body, so she's not charging into a fight. A light, compact weapon like a security baton makes sense for her in emergencies. She splits her time between Sanctuary and the Castle providing medical treatment as needed. Her Pip Boy helps her to keep track of the other settlements. She's often accompanied on her trips across the Commonwealth by MacCready, who sympathizes with her child-like naivety. Danse -Vanilla Clothing -Two-Shot Gatling Laser -Bleeding Stunning Assaultron Blade Danse calls his own shots. His weapons are tech-heavy and lethal. He sticks with the Brotherhood or sets up shop alone at Murkwater Construction Site. Deacon -Vanilla Clothing -Two-Shot Deliverer -Bleeding Combat Knife -Railroad Stealth Boys Deacon's disguises are his armor, and small, silent weapons like Deliverer and a combat knife are discreet and easy to conceal. He never stays in one place for too long. Dogmeat -Dog Collar A collar protects the neck and provides means of control while leaving Dogmeat mobile. He stays at Red Rocket Truck Stop with Cait when not on the road. Hancock -Stars and Stripes Bandana (Optional) -Vanilla Clothing -Two-Shot Western Revolver -Bleeding Combat Knife -Polished Metal Legs -Nuka Cola T-51 Power Armor (Optional) Hancock is Hancock, and he wouldn't change a thing unless he wanted to. Sometimes, he has to hide his face when out in the Commonwealth. Such is life. The Western Revolver has style, man. And I can't stop picturing him in bright red power armor, beating a raider to death while gleefully yelling, "Would you like some refreshing... Nuka... COLA?!" The Statehouse in Goodneighbor is his pad. MacCready -Vanilla Clothing -Authority Glasses -Improvised Backpack (Mod) -Heavy Combat Armor Chest Piece (BoS) (Optional) -Sturdy Combat Armor Arms (BoS) -Fingerless Leather Gloves (Mod) -Shadowed Metal Legs -Sniper Rifle (Armor - Mod) -Two-Shot .50 Sniper Rifle -Kneecapper Short Automatic Handmade Ridle -Bleeding Combat Knife MacCready prefers to do damage from a distance. He keeps plenty of supplies, an SMG, as well as a Heavy Chest Piece for when things get a little close-quarters. He travels a lot but resupplies at the Castle and can often be found there. Nick -Vanilla Clothing -Two-Shot Snubnose .44 Pistol -Bleeding Switchblade Nick's identity is tied to his wardrobe and equipment. He uses weapons the real Nick would have been comfortable with and prefers not to be shot at, thanks. He continues to work out of his office in Diamond City. Piper -Blue Batting Helmet w/ Hair (Mod) -Vanilla Clothing -Sturdy Treated Leather Arms -Polished Metal Legs -Messanger Bag (Mod) -Kneecapper Automatic Handmade Rifle -Bleeding Pipe Wrench (Get it?) Piper knows how to improvise. She's strapped armor over her trench coat and is ready to tackle the Commonwealth. When not adventuring, she lives with her sister in Diamond City, watching over it in her own way. Preston -Authority Glasses -Vanilla Clothing -Heavy Mercenary Armor Arms (Mod) -Pip Boy (Mod) -Shadowed Metal Legs -Revolutionary Sword (Armor - Mod) -Staggering Focused Automatic Laser Rifle -Bleeding Stunning Revolutionary Sword -Minuteman T-45 Power Armor (Optional) Preston is old-school, but recognizes the need to adapt. Years of combat and loss have made him defensive, leading to his reliance on heavy armor and ordinance. His Pip Boy keeps him engaged with the other Minutemen settlements. His new home in Sanctuary is taking getting used to. Strong -Super Mutant Power Armor Chest (Mod) -Super Mutant Heavy Gauntlets -Super Mutant Power Armor Legs (Mod) -Super Mutant Under Armor (Mod) -Atom's Judgement -Staggering Tri Barrel Minigun Strong is difficult to get along with, but loyal. He seeks the company of humans and spends most of his time in and around Hangman's Alley where he is treated with respect but given a wide berth. X6-88 -Synth Field Helmet (Black - Mod) -Marine Wetsuit -Heavy Synth Chest Piece (Black - Mod) -Heavy Synth Arms (Black - Mod) -Heavy Synth Legs (Black - Mod) -Onyx X-01 Power Armor (Optional) -Bleeding Split Institute Laser Rifle (Black - Mod) X6-88 is outfitted with the latest in Institute tech, amplifying his already impressive combat prowess. He returns to the SRB when not on duty. Ada -Assaultron Left Arm -Assaultron Legs -Right Hand Automatic Laser Rifle -Hydraulic Mods Ada makes use of the Mechanist's facilities to upgrade her body to be more mobile, resilient, and deadly. After avenging her friends, she devotes her time to protecting Warwick Homestead, an important source of fish and crops for South Boston. Old Longfellow -Old Fisherman's Hat -Vanilla Clothing -Two-Shot Lever-Action Rifle -Bleeding Serated Machete Old Longfellow continues to live peacefully at his cabin, occasionally leaving on hunting trips or going into town for supplies. Porter Gage -Vanilla Clothing -Vanilla Weapons I always ignore and then betray him. [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 06 Aug 2018 02:49 PM PDT Hi, I have been formulating a conspiracy theory around kellogg, and it involves his memories. One of the more important details is him mentioning Aradesh. On the fallout wiki it says that "Aradesh appears in Fallout as a talking head. He is mentioned by Tandi in Fallout 2, and appears on the NCR five dollar bill in Fallout: New Vegas. He is also mentioned briefly in Fallout 4 during Conrad Kellogg's memories." I have watched many videos and played the quest myself but I cannot find the section where Aradesh is mentioned. Can someone help me figure this out? [link] [comments] |
