Community Focus - Destiny Sets

Hello, and welcome to another Community Focus! These articles give us an opportunity to shine a spotlight on those within the community that create wonderful tools for players at large to use, in their never ending search for loot. This week, we've got the creator of DestinySets.com. Using the Destiny 2 API, they've created a wonderful portal for Guardians around the world to see what gear they have yet to collect within Destiny 2 - whether it be the final few weapons from Gunsmith packages, or armor pieces from planetary vendors. This will be a great place for those among you who are trying to check off every last item before Forsaken launches on September 4, 2018.

That said, let's dive in and get to know the brain behind the website:

Who are you? Where did you come from? Why are you here?

Josh: Hi, my name is Josh and I've been playing Destiny since back in the Destiny beta days. Originally from Sydney, Australia, but I moved to London at about the same time Destiny 2 came out. I make DestinySets.com, a website to help Guardians collect their gear.

When did you start exploring web development?

Josh: Back in school, I had a problem I wanted to solve and I learned programming to solve it myself. I've stuck at that for a bit, and now I work full time as a web developer, making a few Destiny sites on the side.

That's the cool thing about having an API for games like Destiny - its a bit of a trigger to get people into programming. On the Destiny API Devs Discord (https://discord.gg/HU3Q4up), we see so many people coming in learning programming for the first time to build something with the Destiny APIs - whether it's something for their clan, or a way to see Xur inventory, or to dive more into perks and stats. Destiny Sets is on Github (http://github.com/joshhunt/destinySets) as an open source project, and people of all sorts of experiences contribute, especially for the data to organise the gear pieces into their respective loot tables.

What brought about the creation of Destiny sets?

Josh: Actually I first created Destiny Sets back in Destiny, mainly for strike and raid loot, to help me figure out whether I needed to use a Skeleton Key or SIVA key for another chance at the loot I was missing.

When Destiny 2 came out, the game changed these things around (for the better, I think) and I saw the opportunity to create one giant checklist to help you track the gear that you have, what you're missing, and where everything comes from.

There's so much gear in Destiny 2 from all sort of activities that sometimes it's hard to keep track of. I like how, for me at least, looking at the items I don't have yet on Destiny Sets will be a prompt for how I'll play Destiny 2. I'll go Crucible for a bit to work on my Season 3 objectives, or to try and work on that nightfall high score for a cool emblem.

What do you find yourself doing most in Destiny 2?

Josh: First and foremost I'm here for the friendgame. I really lucked out and found a wonderful clan, Bravo Company 30, that I love raiding with. I love the challenges, the teamwork, communication and banter that comes from the raids - it's such a fun experience that you can't really get anywhere else.

Other than that I love it when Iron Banner comes around and I like smashing through the Ornament objectives. Our clan runs "Iron Banner Disco" matches where we all head in with our most garish shaders and exclusively use weapons like Hard Light, Coldheart, or Prometheus Lens. It might not be the most effective, but it's a load of fun.

Solstice of Heroes is just kicking off! What are you most excited to get your hands on?

Josh: Definitely the new armour! I'm really digging the new Warlock gear and I can't wait to see what it'll look like with my shaders and the new armor Glows.

With Forsaken just around the corner, what announced feature has caught your eye so far?

Josh: I'm actually really looking forward to Collections, purely from a selfish point of view. The hardest part of working on Destiny Sets is all the manual curation that goes into the site - all the gear on the site has been organised by me or a community contributor into specific set or vendor. I'm hearing that maybe Collections in Forsaken will make some of that work easier, and allow me to work on more features for the site.

Any last shoutouts before we wrap up? Solstice is calling, and we don't want to keep you here too long!

Josh: Massive props to Bungie API engineer vthorn (aka /u/EdgarVerona) and the Bungie.net team for all the hard work that's put into the API and support they provide for us.

Also to the whole Destiny Devs community, of which there's far too many to name. On top of also providing invaluable support, both moral and technical, I'm constantly marbled by the variety of the cool things they all provide

Many thanks to Josh for stopping by for a chat, and creating this awesome tool. I know I'll be using DestinySets over the next few weeks, seeing as though I have a few last Raid pieces to collect. We're always searching for members of the community to celebrate. If you have someone in mind, let us know by suggesting them on our Community forum, or tweeting @Bungie, me (@A_dmg04) or Cozmo (@Cozmo23) directly using the #CommunityFocus tag.

Cheers!

Solstice of Heroes / Moments of Triumph - Everything you need to know. Armour, Orbs, Requirements and Rewards

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 04:33 AM PDT

Good Morning Guardians,

The Solstice has arrived and with it, a host of activities bringing back that 'Grind' feeling to reach a bigger goal with unique Rewards and Gear. Something D2 has arguably lacked over the last year but leading into Forsaken, should give us plenty to do with a rewarding Grind leading up to September 4th

This post is split into 2 sections. First half focusing on Solstice of Heroes and Second half focused on MOT. SGA section at the end for quick tips and advice on the whole package

Below will list requirements, Tips, Rewards and FAQs on the event and how get the best out of it to cover the Event.

Summer Solstice

From the 7th of July 2018, 'Moments of Triumph' have been visible for our accounts, tracking our achievements throughout Destiny 2. Some at this point could have been completed / shown as completed if you already met the requirements. Solstice of Heroes released the entire collection of challenges and achievements on July 31st in order for us to be rewarded for our triumphs in Destiny 2 (Full list of Triumphs below).

Below is from quick fire FAQs of the whole Event

  • What is Solstice of Heroes? (SoH)

Solstice of Heroes is a limited-time Live Event which celebrates the achievements of Guardians in the first year of Destiny 2. Solstice of Heroes starts on July 31, 2018 and ends at the weekly reset on August 28, 2018.

  • What do I need to own in order to participate in Solstice of Heroes and Moments of Triumph?

All players must own a full copy of Destiny 2, however some Triumphs and activities require players to have Curse of Osiris and/or Warmind.

  • Where can I see my Triumph progress on Bungie.net?

Players can see their Moments of Triumph progress by visiting their Bungie.net profile. If you wish to create a Profile, please visit Bungie.net

You can also follow progress on the Bungie, Destiny App

  • Can progress toward my Triumphs be lost in any way?

Yes, players can lose progress toward Triumphs by deleting characters that Triumphs were earned on. For the best experience, it is recommended that players do not delete any characters until all desired rewards have been redeemed, and Solstice of Heroes concludes on August 28, 2018

  • What makes this event unique?

SoH has changed the Tower. Upon launching in you will notice a celebration occurring. Amongst this are statues which hold 'Redux' missions of the Campaign which are to be used for fun and to meet requirements for a unique SoH armour set (Detailed below). These Campaigns have various changes to them to keep them fun, fresh and also challenging but not impossible.

SoH also has a refreshed Eververse Inventory, which included the Knockout system for anything earned to prevent duplicates. This includes Emotes, Shaders, Sparrows, Ghosts and Weapon Ornaments. All viewable (Also knockout system viewable) in game if you inspect the Solstice Engrams in Eververse. Below are some previews:

  • Link to 3 new Ghosts, 3 new Ornaments for Sturm, Jade Rabbit and Suros and 2 New Sparrows, Blacklight Razor (Left) and Gray Hornet (Right)

  • Link to New emotes - Master Baiter (Left) and the Peacock Dance (Right)

EV also includes a new item, 'Glows'. These are similar to how 'Chroma' worked in D1 where it 'Lights up' a piece of armour. Glows go into your inventory to be unlocked. Once done, they act like Ornaments for you to turn on and off as you choose. 3 Glow colours are available, Void, Solar and Arc. So if you love fighting the Darkness looking like you just left a Rave at 5am, this stuff is for you

You will get a Solstice Engram everytime you are awarded a Bright Engram

  • How do I get the Solstice Armour?

Fly to the Tower, approach the statue dead ahead and visit Ikora. This will start the 'Redux' version of the 'Homecoming' Mission from the D2 Story. Complete it, go back to the statue and you will receive you armour reward

  • Dude, what the hell, this armour is Green!?

Correct! This armour evolves over time. On each piece are a list of requirements to complete in order to progress it to the next 'stage'

The Armour will go Green (Scorched set - PL 200) > Blue (Rekindled - PL 340) > Legendary (Resplendent PL 400) > Masterworked Resplendent (PL 400)

The requirements for each Armour piece and Class are as follows:

Note - These challenges are NOT retroactive. Everything (Minus 1 challenge) for Solstice armour is from scratch. The 1 Retro is 'Reach the Valor rank of Legend in the Crucible'. If this does not immediately show for you. Complete a Crucible game. Win or lose, it should then clear

Note 2 - You must complete ALL challenges for each coloured set before you can upgrade them. So all Green to Blue, all Blue to Legendary. Visit the statue in the tower for the new hotness. Exception to this is Mastertwerking. This can be done 1 piece at a time

Complete the below to upgrade this Scorched/Green set to Rekindled/Blue

Breaking Stuff to Look Tough - SGA

I will constantly update this as more useful stuff comes to light

  • A Great resource for checking out what you need and where to find it - D2 Checklist

  • Need a Fireteam? Xbox LFG, Destiny App, r/fireteams, and The100 are great places to group up

  • Need to Raid but never have? Check out r/Destinysherpa for a 'teacher' to take you through and set you off into some of the best experiences Destiny has to offer

  • Remember to pick up ALL of your MoT challenges from the statue and put them in your pursuits. Not doing this can cause progress to not follow you - Confirmed

  • Each day of the event is a different element (the first day is solar). When you pick up orbs of that days element you get a temporary buff that powers up abilities and weapons of that element. The one I saw was solar light level 5 or something to that effect. We do not know yet if this is boosted or linked to applying matching Glows on an armour set (Will update with any confirms I find)

  • Reports suggest your SUBCLASS choice is a great producer of those specific Orb Elements. At this point, it's hard to confirm as it's a lot of RNG and you class has elemental abilities (Nades / Melee / Super) so it seems right you would get more for matching. We'll see more of this develop over the event. To add to this, a lot of people saying it's more weighted towards what Super you pick so if you need a specific Orb Element, try using that Subclass Element with the matching guns. It should produce the fastest payout for Orb Challenges

  • Kinetic Kills produce Orbs of your selected Subclass Element

  • Shaders can be applied on the Armour from the 'Blue' version. This carries forward when / if you upgrade to the next set

  • 'Reach the Valor rank of Legend in the Crucible' - If this does not immediately show for you. Complete a Crucible game. Win or lose, it should then clear

  • You can equip different Armour when running 1 of the Redux missions. Just ensure that the piece you need is equipped. Please note, you will not Spawn Orbs for the requirements without wearing the FULL set. You will have to equip it all again and do it separate if you don't equip it all in the mission

  • Quick way to farm Orbs is by Farming the beginning of this weeks Nightfall on NORMAL mode. Equip whatever element you need (Wardcliff good for Arc, Promethus Lens good for Solar) and drop down, kill everything but when the final 'Big Boss' (Either Minotaur or Hydra), let it Kill you so it restarts the mission. You can also just kill it and restart the mission but that's up to you

  • DO NOT panic about the Grind. You have 28 days from the Launch to get all of the above. Personal lives, holidays and RL a side. These amour sets have been complete to Legendary in one play though. You can do it too

  • There is NO indication when you pick up an elemental orb (Solar, Arc, Void) just a slight 'Pulse'. If you are unsure, double check the ground where you ran over it

  • MAYHEM is up next week for Crucible Weekly Playlist so don't sweat on the Crucible kills for Supers. If you need them, try and do it all here. if you can't wait until next week, show Shaxx what you've got

  • Triumph bounties collected from the stature in the Tower NEED to be completed from your pursuits tab for the score to start increasing

  • There are 2 pages of Triumphs. RB/L1 to skip across

  • At this point, you cannot return to the 'Solstice' version of the Tower upon starting the first mission

  • If you dismantle any of the armour you can pick up again from the Solstice statue

  • HUNTERS - Solar Sword with no ammo counts as melee kills. Double knives exotic chest Ophidia Spathe is also a good option

  • For the the Solstice Chestpiece, you need to play the "Vanguard Strikes" Playlist and not "Heroic Strikes" - Discussion of this in post

  • Use the Circular Plates That Previously Spawned New Drakes to Restore Up to 1/4 of Your Tank's Health

  • The revive timer is on a 3 second countdown same as the wipe countdown, so just mash your rez button, and you'll get back up without being consumed by the darkness! This saved me when I was one Sleeper shot away from beating Gary! - Nice find here

  • You can straight up shoot through the glass in the mini boss room in the 1AU mission.

The Last Word - It's goodnight from me, D2Y1

This to me is why I play Destiny. Clear goals, set challenges which can take time and patience and some great looking rewards at the end to celebrate your achievements. This paired with the Whisper stuff going on is all great stuff for how I like to play and approach this Game

We know D2 had a rocky start for many of us here and across the wider community but from what we have seen so far, it looks like we're building towards something we always wanted from Destiny as a whole experience in Y2. Something for everyone, looking frabjous and powerful while doing it. I could be wrong but hey, I'm willing to find out face and Arc Staff first

This is probably me until Forsaken. I haven't written as much for D2 but what I have wrote has been an absolute pleasure. I look forward to (Hopefully) going Guide crazy in Forsaken. I've caught the fever again and it feels good

I'll meet you in the Dreaming City, Guardians

Love <3

All Hunters who are struggling with 50 solar melee kills You can use a sword solar with no ammo and it counts

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 08:33 AM PDT

Figured this out last night while running around on earth. It's probably been posted here before but hope it helps someone!

Edit : just realized solar sword is backwards in the Title also just to clarify since someone asked the sword has to have no ammo for this to work. So basically your running around beating things with the hilt

Edit 2 Electric Boogaloo : If your good with throwing knives the double knife exotic bottom tree gunslinger method is probably faster but for people like me who have the aim of a mashed potato the sword method may be faster

For those grinding all day, make sure you take breaks, get up and stretch, and drink some water.

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 10:06 AM PDT

Your body will thank you later. Please be safe while gaming...I wouldn't want you to feel light headed or accidentally sit weird and cut off your blood supply in your abdominal aortic artery.

Edit: Downvoters will probably be the first to die. It won't be painful, you'll just feel like your falling asleep. Then you go into cardiac arrest.

I’ll say it again, Destiny 2 is at its best when things are challenging (Think WotW), not when it requires you put in 50 hours that week (think faction rallies).

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 06:10 AM PDT

Temporary time sinks like faction rally that eventually close forever rely on FOMO to get you to play instead of relying on the quality of the content itself. It's time that get you these rewards, not skill. Without large quantities of time it's not possible.

Quest like WotW, which will never go away forever, rely on a quality, it may take a couple tries and there may be some waiting for the event but it's skill that get you the rewards here.

I want more challenge in this game with good rewards. I haven't logged in this week so I am hopeful Solstice onf Heroes is about completing challenges with skill and not a token grind to 50.

Edit: I don't want faction rally to go away completely. What would be nice is to see all activities but especially hard/prestige raids and trials win get huge increases to tokens dropped.

Edit 2: So many comments, I'll try to respond after work. I just like accomplishments that are more like the bounty systems of "get 10 arc kills" much more than counting coins. That being said sometimes the grinds are long like the catalyst for VW, but you know what? I never even think about it because bounties happen while you play the game. On the other hand token grinding has a method to max your earnings and that method isn't always fun. I don't want to choose between fun and efficiency, I just want to play! Which is what I do. I'd be nice to have a middle ground though where I can earn enough while playing the activities I enjoy. Same for the activities you enjoy.

Edit 3: For the diehard faction lovers, this isn't a hate on what you have earned or how you have earned it. Variety is fine. But faction rallies require I play patrols, or do some monotonous exploit. In general I wish it were possible to rank up factions efficiently doing end game activities like raid/trials instead of patrol/exploits.

Edit 4: I should have said "billion hours" so the exaggeration was more clear. To the "it doesn't take 50 hours, I did it in insert time here" crowd. I hear you. My response is incoming, just wait for the next taken blight.

The best thing about the Redux missions is the absence of cringe dialogue from our Ghost!

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 03:08 AM PDT

No more trying to be funny and failing, or breaking any tension. These missions felt a little darker because of it, and much better.

Heroic Hephaestus on Mars has unlimited thrall spawns and a grenade frequency modifier

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 09:38 AM PDT

Like the title said, heroic Hephaestus is the best way to farm grenade kills for the armour. Took me around 15 minutes to get from 20% void grenade kills to 100%.

The modifier is Elementalist which essentially increases your grenade damage and frequency.

If you get to the end of the adventure when you have to defend the terminal, leave some thrall on the computer and throw grenades like crazy. You get a new grenade every 5 seconds or so.

Bungie: Keep an eye at your TRANSLATORS. They are making big mistakes.

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 07:20 AM PDT

Brazilian player. PT/BR

I play in English.

I see many things wrong or information MISSING objectives from the solsitce sets in portuguese. (example, collect orbs on STRIKES. With the STRIKE word missing).

I constantly have to tell my friends what they are doing wrong.

This happens OFTEN, since Destiny 1. Plus we have MANY lore inconsistencies because of translation mistakes.

Example: Skyburners have one name in D1, and another name in D2.

This might be happening in other languages too. Keep an eye out.

"And thanks... you know... For being my guardian." BUNGIE WHY IS THIS NOT AN EXOTIC SHELL?!

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 05:09 AM PDT

For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, the Statue of Heroes will give you a white and gold ghost shell that has the same description above, which is the same line that ghost said at the end of Rise of Iron.

This is the one legendary line that I loved from ghost ever, and I think it deserves to be on an exotic shell, not a filthy legendary shell /s.

But seriously, thank you for putting this line Bungie. When I read it, it hit me to see how far I've gone in the Destiny universe.

Solstice of Heroes proves to me Destiny would definitely benefit from a Halo-like Legendary Campaign Mode

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 01:19 AM PDT

The missions are so much better with a little extra spice. The SoH missions could be akin to 'Hard Mode', leaving room for even harder variants. I really hope Bungie considers something like this in the future.

Unlike any other app it looks and behaves just like the in-game UI and makes you feel like you have a window to your vault from the palm of your hand.

I have not posted here for awhile as most of the recent updates were smaller features. But 3.2.0 brings:

Enhanced 'Blade'. Tap the icon top left to get access to range of options to make finding your gear easier.

  • Previously you could only sort items by power, but now you can sort by type and see all your hand cannons grouped together.
  • Filtering to find items that have a specific burn, are a specific weapon type or suitable for a specific race such evil hunters.
  • When you long press filtered items you can then swipe through just those items to easily compare them.
  • If you are running a prestige Nightfall you can filter by multiple weapons. Just long press say SMG and Autorifles and you will see a bold outline and only those items
  • At the bottom chose to have filtered items dimmed or hidden so you only see what you want.
  • Yes all the filters will combine as expected so you can see just your solar SMG duplicates if that floats your boat.

This release also brings a few other things such as:

  • Enhanced bounty display with more details. See what rewards they will give you.
  • Fix for certain items such as the Whisper ship schematic not showing which objectives you had completed.
  • When you long press and item I moved the 'stats' and 'details' options to the top of the screen as people were missing them at the bottom.
  • Settings has an option to show objectives as numbers e.g. 1/150 orb instead of percentages 1% orbs. It defaults to the numbers. Go long press the new Solstice gear to see the objectives on them.

P.S. yeah yeah, loadouts are coming.

Use Sword hilts for elemental melee requirements on the Solstice blue gear

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 08:18 AM PDT

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but I noticed last night that my solar sword hilt kills were counting towards my solar melee requirements on my hunter. And it worked while i was running the arc subclass. This also worked with my titan friend.

However, it did not work for my Warlock friend.

Sorry that I don't have a sample bigger than that. But we were able to get that requirement done in minutes.

The Postmodern Prometheus Adventure spawns endless enemies, elemental orbs and recharges your super.

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 11:13 AM PDT

It's a great place to farm for the green and blue armor sets. Just leave one blight alive and Taken continue to spawn as well as elemental orbs that keep spewing out of the Light column even after the mission finishes.

Here's how to complete your Elemental Orb Objectives in minutes

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 01:54 PM PDT

Video on how to do it

Gifv for those who want to see proof before clicking the video.

Steps:

  • Go to Nessus

  • Pick up the Adventure "Exodus Siege" (if you don't see this adventure on the map or at Failsafe, that means you have to complete all Nessus adventures to do all of them again)

  • Kill the two Fallen Scouts and don't pick up the triangle items (do not kill them in front of their spawn cave or you'll accidentally pick up the triangle items)

  • Sit in front of the spawn cave and just kill.

Reminder Match your weapons and subclass to the element you're chasing. Example, if you're farming for Solar Orbs, use a solar subclass and solar heavy/seconday.

Chroma Pack Awareness

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 07:21 AM PDT

For those who see the "chroma pack" in the eververse store quite intriguing, be aware (that as stated in the small text description) that you only get one piece of chroma.

Based on myself, clan members and other people, many people missed the small description and wasted 1000 bright dust on something that we expected much more of.

So to those who see the bundle icon, hefty price tag and title, and skipped the description. I'm here to just save you some dust.

Decided to repost this Following a previous post that I had worded in a way that I received a lot of hate for.

Have fun grinding guardians :D

Imagine if Solstice had been Cayde and our gaurdian in a bar while he embellishes our stories for all the patrons to hear.

Posted: 31 Jul 2018 07:11 PM PDT

"and then! the guardian fought 5, no TEN! FIFTEEN SERVITORS! I'm telling you guys, this one's always been my favorite. Feel free to jump in if I'm exaggerating too much buddy.... Nothin' from you? Too much to drink I'm sure.. so where was I... Oh yeah 25 legionnaires I SWEAR!"

We could have had one short scene of us in a spicy ramen bar a'la the Last Call trailer which launces into Cayde narrating the missions we play as if he was telling our big fish stories.

One last drink with our old pal, and an awesome premise to rehash the past with harder modifiers.

Tips for Hunter SOH armor objectives

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 06:38 AM PDT

Okay so I've done a good many of the armor challenges and here's how I got them done quickly. Note that this is on a hunter but some things will carry over (substitute orpheus rig for doomfang pauldron) I also used the ps4 manual time setting to set my date back a month for empty instances.

Void energy weapon kills: Graviton lance will be your weapon of choice. Cosmology allows for huge multikills that all count towards the objective. Load up escalation protocol and hard the thrall like sheep. Fire one shot into the middle of them for an easy 8-10 percent. Fast travel back and rinse/repeat.

Void grenade kills: Make sure you equip orpheus rig with your nightstalker. Every enemy tethered gives you super energy plus ability energy which means grenades too. Shoot a tether at the ground as you activate escalation and throw a grenade immediately when you have your super back. You'll have another grenade as more thrall spawn up into your tether. You can get infinite grenades here and since damage in the tether is shared, all kills count towards your grenade kills. The acolytes and knights will sometimes spawn in the first wave instead of more thrall so it may take two grenades to kill them in the tether but you'll have no problem keeping your grenade and super up at all times. Fast travel back when the shadow rift opens, rinse/repeat.

Solar heavy weapon kills: Okay this can be done anywhere but it works best in the engine room on leviathan. Orpheus rig for this again. If you dont know about the underbelly I suggest watching a short youtube guide. The code for the switches under the bridge you spawn in on is 1-5-3-2-4-6. This can be solo'd. I recommend high mobility armor and some practice. Go to engine which is up the fan and to the right after you enter underbelly. Equip sleeper and kill the first two watchers. Tether the door to the left of the second watcher. All the ads will spawn from this point. As they come out they will all be tethered. Shoot a sleeper shot when you have 95 percent of your super back. All kills count as if you shot them all individually with sleeper. Plenty of yellow bars and watchers for free heavy ammo. When the room is clear just go back to the entrance and open the door again. This can be done as much as needed.

Solar melee kills: This was by far my least favorite. I used ophidia spathe for the extra throwing knife with bottom tree gunslinger which gives you your knife back on precision kills with it. Also be sure to use gamblers dodge which will recharge your melee when you dodge close to enemies. Load up escalation and just use triple jump to distance yourself from thrall and try your best for headshots with the knife. You wont hit them every time but with two knives and gamblers dodge you'll be done in about fifteen minutes. You need fifty kills in total.

Arc super kills: This is again made easiest by the abuse of escalation protocol coupled with the raiden flux chest piece. Fast travel to whichever spot on Mars has a public event flag. Rally the flag and start escalation protocol. Let the thrall build up and do a jumping R2. After this you'll have a good 6-8seconds (maybe a little more) to just run around and use R1 on enemies as they spawn. When your super is done fast travel back immediately. Resetting the instance let's you really the flag again. You should be able to rally one flag about three times if you're quick. This will get you anywhere from 8-20 percent per super.

As far as gathering elemental orbs go, that has been covered by many others already. Your subclass heavily influences which elemental orbs you'll be getting so keep that in mind. If you haven't already seen it, the normal pyramidion NF entrance can be farmed with a heavy like acrius ideally. Kill every thing then activate one plate at a time. Kill everything else except for one minotaur. Let him kill you and just repeat this process until you're done. This only works for the arc orbs you need from strikes and void elemental orbs. I believe the other arc and solar elemental orbs need to be obtained on earth.

While obtaining the orbs on earth, do heroic PEs with patrols in between for some good multitasking as these are both armor objectives as well.

These are just the methods I used to accomplish these tasks quickly and efficiently. Hopefully this will help you guys out as you grind for your armor. I will update this if I find any better methods for any of these.

Edit: For those that don't know, you can complete objectives for the specific armor pieces without the full set on. You only need the full set to run the redux missions and to spawn elemental orbs so using exotics to speed up the process is in your best interest. Just focus on doing one armor piece as efficiently as possible at a time.

Happy solstice everyone.

We Need a Notification When We Pick Up Elemental Orbs

Posted: 31 Jul 2018 08:53 PM PDT

Something small on the side of the screen saying, "+1 Arc Orb" for example. The sound effect when running over an orb is too quiet and I've caught myself multiple times turning around to ensure I picked it up.

Tip: You don't need to complete your armor by tomorrow. Or even by the reset. You're only four hours into a 720 hour event. It's okay if things are going slow.

Posted: 31 Jul 2018 02:01 PM PDT

Based on the state of /new right now (hi guys!), it's almost like we have to remind people that this is an entire month-long event. So what if one strike only gets you 3% (Based on one anecdote, but others have reported up to 20%). Regardless, you're not going to complete the entire set tomorrow, and some people just need to learn this.

Also, Mayhem is next week. That will get you all the super kills you need.

Enjoy the event. Enjoy Solstice of Heroes, and do the exact same things you've been doing for the past eight months...you'll get your completed sets in no time. Stop being so hyper focused on the numbers that you don't take time to look around and smell the rose pedals (I mean for real, this new space is amazing.)

It's not a race guys :)

A strike on the Almighty. Massive missed opportunity just saying. Ideas for the strike and strike specific loot in the post

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 05:53 AM PDT

I mean that campaign mission although kind of fun was kind of just a throw away thing since we've never been back since till now since weve got to do it for the Solstice armour.

As for some stuff for the strike...

The story behind it could be that the Console survived Ghaul's... Whatever Ghaul did. And he's causing havoc by trying to complete Ghaul's original mission of domination and he's trying to repair and reactivate the Almighty and it's our job to stop him.

We could have to fight through the matter beams jumping between platforms of broken pieces of Mercury fighting Vex and Cabal. Having to destroy the channels of rock and lava so that they can't overload our Sun with matter. I dunno I don't really have any ideas for the 3 sections that lead up to the boss fight.

However. The boss fight could be in the command room where we have to take down two of the Console's big wig goons.

These goons could be a giant flamer Cabal and the second could be a large arc dude that shoots a conductive liquid then blasts you with arc energy.

After they're both at about half health you take a final jump down to the reactor room where we find the Console and his two goons, the two goons become a lot easier to kill, once the goons have been killed it causes their suits to explode which starts a chain reaction in the reactor which makes the Console lose all of his remaining health. Or you could just completely ignore the two goons and concentrate on the Console. Which causes his suit to create an even bigger explosion.

Once you kill the Console or his goons you have to run away to safety away from the exploding reactor which leads you to the rewards chest.

An idea for the strike specific loot could be a really fuck off good kinetic/primary scout rifle, don't really have any other idea for that just want a good kinetic scout. For the armour there could be two class items per class that's radiating arc or solar energy.

A Bunch of things to make the Solstice of Heroes grind easier!

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 02:14 PM PDT

Hi! I've gotten to 400 Triumph Points, done full masterwork armour on one class, and it took 16 hours, and I fucking hate myself! So, let me tell you how to make the grind easier!

Redux Missions

  • Please for the love of god have a fireteam

  • On "Chosen" you can spam respawn when you die and are about to wipe when solo, and will respawn before the wipe screen happens.

  • In "Payback" , please, stay back with the tank and shoot from a distance, and all the old tank "Summon" plates will heal your tank up to 75%. You can also shoot the Cabal Boss at the end from ways away in the tank.

  • in "1AU" , please for the love of god have a fireteam.

  • In general, you only need to wear the armour piece that requires that mission for it to count, not the whole set. So you can wear like 385 gear, and your 200 helmet for Homecoming or whatever, makes it much easier.

  • Every "Mini-Servitor" in "Spark" actually counts as a miniboss, making this an easy completion!

Elemental Orbs

  • Match your Subclass element, and your energy and power weapon element to the Element of the orbs you need!

  • For the Strike Orbs, do what I said in the previous bullet point, and load up the normal nightfall. The first 20/30 ads are all Majors, which drop 1-3 Elemental Orbs upon death by elemental damage, you can wipe and repeat as long as you need for this to complete.

  • Red bar enemies rarely drop orbs, but they drop a whole bunch from majors. I encourage you to do Glimmer Drill public events, or Escalation Protocol.

Meditations

  • FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DONT PICK A WARMIND ONE

Elemental Melee Kills

  • For this, you can use an uncharged sword matching the element of the melee kills you require! Super easy!

  • If you don't have a void sword, the sentinel titan "Defensive Strike" overshield will make all melee kills during that count as void! Easy!

  • if you don't have a solar sword, the Ophidia Spathe exotic, with the melee recharge roll, and your "Recharge Throwing Knives on preicision kills" makes this part easy!

  • if you don't have an arc sword... fucking get one, this sucks on warlock don't even try.

Crucible

  • You could wait until next week for Mayhem for your 30 super kills, but if not, I'll give some other tips.

  • Go in with a fireteam, and chain supers!

  • Dont use your super in the middle of a room of enemies if it's roaming, use it around the corner with teammates to back you up.

  • if you have a single use super, use it in the middle of a room of enemies, not around the corner.

  • You reset your valor rank and the legend requirement didn't check for your boot masterwork? Wear the full set and complete one match. Profit!

Yeah, that's pretty much it. Hope this helps some of you not hate yourselves as much as I do. Good luck Guardians!

EDIT: Now with 100% less mini-servitors in Chosen, because I'm an idiot.

I got through the Redux missions a few hours ago and I'm scared. [SPOILER]

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 06:20 AM PDT

In Homecoming I felt the challenge. You're a little underpowered but it's manageable and I loved it.

Spark hits you with a tank immediately. A tank. Right out of spawn. I said out loud, "fuck yeah." When I got to Heavy Shanks and mob mobs I said, "oh no."

Then the Servitor.

I thought it was over. Then my screen goes purple for a second and a half. When I saw too many little Servitors I went full Arc Staff but they wouldn't go down. I proceeded to hide behind a rock, taking pot shots, saying, "fuck no, fuck this." I wanted to crawl under my bed after that and you can't crawl under my bed.

The tank one was a pain in my ass, just like the first time.

1AU. Such Sun, Much Bright. Sunside was the bane of my existence.

And Chosen.

Bungie really loves Colossi and turrets don't they? I also can't believe they made me kill the dogs, all of the dogs, you know where I'm talking about. Also Ghaul moves a lot. A lot, a lot.

Overall, I'm scared I might develop a liking for punishment. Awesome Bungie. Awesome.
