DEAR NIANTIC - ideas and suggestions for the devs

Posted: 11 Jun 2018 11:36 AM PDT

Hey Niantic! You guys made a game we all have a lot of feelings about...and this is our spot to express those feelings and make some statements about ways we think the game could be even better for us - and by extension, you!

If you want to complain about the game in a less constructive way please do so in the Salty Sunday - Rage Rants and complaints thread.

Here you will find ideas and suggestions - a mix of the positive posts and constructive criticism that reddit's Pokemon Go community have compiled and discussed and up/downvoted by importance and validity for us all. If there's one post on /r/pokemongo you guys should be paying attention to, it's this one, so please do.

Hey /r/PokemonGo Trainers! This recurring monthly post is for you guys. Sort posts by "top" to see what has been voted most important so far, but consider sorting by "new" as well to weigh in on the most recent ideas!

Please pay attention to the /r/PokemonGo rules for commenting behavior and civility, and use the report button when necessary to alert the mods to any post or thread that needs a review!

I think I'm a proof that Niantic did something right about legendaries

Posted: 11 Jun 2018 09:02 AM PDT

I'm regular but casual player. Rural also, but sometimes play in quite huge city. Group raiding is impossible where I play, I rarely raid solo because I mostly play with my dog and almost never feel like stopping for 2 minutes wait. So raiding is kind of not my habit.

2 months ago I had no single legendary. Then research system came. Thanks to that I have the bird trio now. I did special research for Mew which forced me to do a bit of raiding. Thanks to that I got ex raid pass.

It was my first and only legendary raid, I met Valor and Mystic raid groups there and I was the only one from Instinct. I joined Mystic, a guy even had to walk my noob ass through joining private raid.

I caught Mewtwo with second throw and I shit you not, when these balls were wiggling my adrenaline jumped and my heart was pounding. I think last time I felt this was when I was 8yo, catching Mewtwo in Cerulean Cave. For this feeling alone I want to say thanks to Niantic and I think they did a good job because a player like me can now own all Kanto legendaries and a mythical.

Last 2 months in PoGo were cool.

Moved across the country. Niantic banned me and refuses to communicate

Posted: 11 Jun 2018 11:36 AM PDT

Been playing since launch day. Moved across the country in February, last week I get permabanned. Asked them why, they said "you violated terms of service." I asked how, and that I can provide proof i was playing fairly but they gotta tell me what they think i did wrong. They just copy/pasted the terms of service about playing fair and said "you violated one of these our decision is final." I doubt they even read the appeals or anything. These sound automated.

I spent money on this game, defended it this whole time, and this is what they do. Alright Niantic I'm reading bots don't work but they are close to getting them. They turned an honest player into a hacker. Well done Niantic.

Mewtwo wasn't meant for me

Posted: 11 Jun 2018 03:18 PM PDT

A few months ago: After months of raiding all around Idaho (Boise and Mountain Home mainly), I FINALLY got an ex raid pass. I was so stoked, I had to make sure I could go in to work early so I would get out in time for the raid. Everything was going great. I met new people we were chatting before the raid and such. The time comes for the lobby. My phone began to run so slow and my network was kinda failing (GPS errors off and on that never happens to me).

Timer is almost up before going in, so I ask everyone to back out. The majority were kinda chill about it, and everything was looking up, even though some were like super annoyed. Go in lobby again and fades to Mewtwo. Getting SUPER pumped... And then GPS error, backs out of gym completely, and reboots POGO app. I didn't want to be "that guy" again, so I just pretended like I was battling and slowly walked away.

Never got an ex pass again. Yet.

6/11/18 - The Adventure Begins

Posted: 11 Jun 2018 03:08 PM PDT

Hey everyone, I'm a returning player who played mostly during the summer of '16, and made a short lived return last summer when raids were introduced and gyms were reworked. I'm coming back with the same mission I've had since launch day; to complete the Pokédex.

I figured that, if I was gonna start this thing, I would need to stock up on supplies. I'm a rural player, so I really only have one place I can rely on for PokéStops, which is my local college campus.

This morning, I woke up bright and early, grabbed my phone, portable charger, GoPro, and my bike, and hit the road.

It honestly feels so good to be playing the game I used to love again. The introduction of Generation 3 gave my Pokédex a solid 30 new entries off the bat. Plus, due to the Water Festival, I was finally able to get some water evolutions that I never would've been able to with just normal spawns.

During my trip, I stopped to take some AR pictures of the Pokémon I had encountered. That was always one of my favorite features, and the new AR+ feature has made it so much more fun.

The Pictures I took:

After about an hour and a half of spinning PokéStops and catching new mons, I decided to head home, and stopped to get a donut on the way. I'm already pumped for my next adventure. I can't wait to see what this summer has in store.

Go Fest registration ends in 4 days, and scalpers are getting scared

Posted: 11 Jun 2018 05:23 PM PDT

Right now, there are 4 days left to register tickets for pokemon GO fest 2018. When June 15 comes by, all unregistered tickets will be refunded and cancelled.

This has made scalpers desperate. Ebay listings have dropped from $300 auctions being the lowest offer, to only $40 buy-it-now. The price has gone from 15x the face value of one tickets to only double.

But Ebay is making these scalpers life worse. Theres been reports of these ticket postings being removed, and older orders being retroactively cancelled.

These guys thought they would make bank off these tickets, now they are desperatly trying to turn a profit before it's too late.

Why are the coins priced this way?

We all know that things usually get cheaper when you buy in bulk, then why do the coins get more expensive in higher quantities?

Compare them and see what I mean.

Way to use ex raid pass if unable to attend raid.

Posted: 11 Jun 2018 01:53 PM PDT

So, I've now had 4 passes that I cannot use due to them being in the middle of a work day and I still have no Mewtwo.

Seems such a waste having the pass sit in my inventory for a week for it to disappear into nothingness.

How about combining the current stamp system and the raid pass?

When you get a ex raid pass, and it is not used on its alloted day, you are given the option of turning the pass into a black stamp.

In doing so you commit to collecting 7 and/or 14 black stamps. Each ex raid pass you collect after will give you the option to turn it into a black stamp.

After you get all the black stamps, you encounter mewtwo. You can only encounter mewtwo like this once.

Thoughts?

I know the ex pass system is pretty rubbish with some people not ever having received one! But I think this would at least give players a chance to build up towards mewtwo on the occasions where you do get a raid pass but are unable to use it, instead of it going to waste.

How do I report cheaters like this?

Posted: 11 Jun 2018 03:08 PM PDT

https://imgur.com/1rZZ5rg And why do people even want to play like this? They don't have any creativity with names or characters. How does it bring them any feeling of reward? I'm considering making a second account so that I can flip gyms on the same team as me, like this one.

I would like to take a minute to say goodbye to so many friends and memories.

Posted: 11 Jun 2018 09:20 PM PDT

I'll keep this short. I have been playing since launch and got my girlfriend (at the time) into it as well, about a week or 2 after launch i discovered the pikachu secret and did what I had to do I made a new account just so my starter could be the electric mouse. Well, me and my girlfriend broke up. Deleted each other off everything, blocked etc. And about 6 months after i discovered every one of my Pokemon were deleted. My buddy had been changed and only one was left. (Assuming you cant delete every single one) I freaked out and signed out so I could log back in hoping that would fix it. Unfortunately it said my password had been changed 15 days earlier. I was devastated. I was Lvl 26 with all the special hat pikachu and a loyal vaporeon I had named vics. I'll miss you guys, thanks for the memories.

TL;DR Petty ex killed my hopes and dreams by deleting my pals.

Edit: forgot to mention that she let me use a second email of hers at the time to avoid the hassle of me having to make a new one.

Have you ever seen a shiny spawn from incense?

Posted: 11 Jun 2018 04:53 PM PDT

I've been wondering for a while now if anyone has ever caught/spawned a shiny from incense.

I know it tends to spawn superfluous throwaways most often, but has anyone caught some good luck? If so, what Pokémon?

Here's what the Philippine Water Festival looks like

Water festival in the Philippines coincided with our first typhoon of the year. Saw this over on the local FB PoGo community and thought I'd share it here. A little rain won't stop determined trainers from catching them all.

Tyranitar CD

Posted: 11 Jun 2018 08:22 PM PDT

Just recently I received an EX Raid pass, but I only have one Bite/Crunch Tyranitar. Since there will be a Tyranitar CD next week, I'm wondering whether I should get as many Smack Down Tyranitar or if I should just try to get some Bite/Crunch Tyranitar

What just happened?

Posted: 11 Jun 2018 04:27 AM PDT

Hey fellow Pokémon go fans!! Hope all of you are having fun with the water festival as much as I am.

A little back story, I just jumped back into Pokémon go after taking a leave of absence from the game for about a year now. At the time I was living in a rural town, so not there wasn't many Pokémon stops and gyms but we enjoyed the game any way. It was fun and relaxing and a couple of my friends would compete to see who could get the strongest Pokémon around.

Now fast forward to yesterday. I now live in a town with a lot of poké stops and gyms, so I was walking around doing this giant loop when a Kyoger raid pops up not to far from me. I know that I won't take it down by myself but there's about five or six stops near it so I decide to go check it out. I'm taking my time relaxing after a days work in this nice weather just strolling along, I turn the corner to get to the gym and see about 10 people at this gym. They had just finished the raid and I was surprised that many people where here.

What I gathered from ease dropping is that there where two separate groups and they go out together drive around and do all the raids. Each group had a person that looks up where the closest raid is so after they finish one. They all just jump in their cars and fly to the next one. So my question is this, are these "raid parties" a common thing now in Pokémon go? And if so how do I find a group I can join in my area? I don't know if they met through just meeting each other at a raid one day or they met on say a specific sub Reddit?

I would love to know because they seemed so professional about it, having strategies on how to me efficient in time and such. One guy even said he had to leave because he joined his crew while he was on his lunch break and had to go back to work soon. Simply put this culture blew my mind and would love to jump into it

Thank you all for your time! Good luck on your search for the shiny shelder

Forever-trapped Pokemon in gyms

Posted: 11 Jun 2018 01:05 AM PDT

I really wish the developers would introduce a time limit for how long Pokemon can stay in gyms!

I am into exploring remote parts of the world, and when I do, I always keep an eye out for Pokemon gyms.

Last summer I travelled through the Balkans and Bulgaria and won a ton of gym battles in various random places (bear-infested forests, check... top of a mountain, check...). However, a significant number of Pokemon I left in these places STILL haven't come back a year later.

It's not like I can ask people from other teams to go and release these Pokemon as a) clearly there are no Pokemon Go players anywhere near these locations (which are also quite spread out), and b) even if there were, they would then have exactly the same problem of eternally trapped Pokemon.

Thankfully I had the foresight to leave really rubbish Pokemon in these places, but it's annoying that I have a ton of space in my storage being taken up with crappy pidgeys and xatus, etc. which are serving absolutely no purpose whatsoever.

Wouldn't it make sense for the developers just to boot Pokemon out of gyms after, say, 90 days if they are undefeated? Or alternatively for the owner to recall the Pokemon after this period, even if that meant sacrificing the gold they'd earned?

[Question] Wrong team accidentally registered for Go Fest

Posted: 11 Jun 2018 09:41 AM PDT

I just had my friend forward me the confirmation email for Go Fest registration, and my wife was accidentally registered under the wrong team. We submitted a ticket. I looked through the sub and couldn't find any additional information on this. Does anyone have any insight on the implications of this error or other ways to remedy it? Everything else was correct.

[Question] Is your community raiding Kyogre much?

Posted: 11 Jun 2018 05:05 AM PDT

Compared to Ho-oh, it seems fewer people have any interest in raiding Kyogre. Whereas before, 10 or so raids were organised per day, now we're lucky to get 5. I personally don't have much motivation to raid Kyogre too because it seems to always flee and the shiny rate seems much lower among our groups. How does it look like in your communities?

Returning from vacation to two new stops!

Posted: 11 Jun 2018 02:28 AM PDT

There has been renovations and new buildings constructed in my area. Some statues and other art has been put up in the neighborhood as a result, so I had an ingress-friend submit them. About a month later they show up as stops in Pokémon Go! So happy about this. Four stops will now take me 5 minutes to spin instead of nearly 20!
