Giving MASSIVE Thanks to Mojang

Posted: 15 Jun 2018 10:52 AM PDT

With the 2nd Pre Release of 1.13 being out, I gotta extend my massive gratitudes to Mojang for doing things like giving us the old bark blocks back, fixing pistons and slimeblocks being non-transparent, and many other fixes. This has been said many a time, but where any other gaming company would've said "No, this is how WE want to run our game", Mojang has been very receptive the community and has listened to how we're feeling about the state of the game.

So thank you Mojang for all the work you put into this game!

Reloading the chunk every time you place or break a block might not be the most efficient way of doing things. Punching trees have never been so painful before.

In the 1.13 Pre-release 2 you are unable to move water logged blocks. This may be a good thing because it would stop an easy method for large scale griefings.

Vein Miner Datapack 1.13

Posted: 15 Jun 2018 02:22 PM PDT

Hey Everybody,

This Datapack adds the ability to mine large areas of the same Block, like the mod does. You have to crouch to activate and mine the block. Up to a distance of 4 Blocks around the one you just mined, the same Blocks get mined too.

*Tools*

The Tools it works with are:

  • Diamond Pickaxe
  • Diamond Axe
  • Diamond Shovel
  • Diamond Hoe
  • Iron Pickaxe
  • Iron Axe
  • Iron Shovel
  • Iron Hoe
  • Shears

The hoes can only hoe dirt, grass blocks, coarse dirt and path blocks, but in a vein miner fashion: hoe a lot of land at once, which is pretty useful too, I'd say.

*Enchantments*

It does work with fortune 1, 2, 3, Silk Touch and Unbreaking 1, 2, 3.

Unbreaking? Yes! The Durability of the tools get depleted the same way as if you mined all the blocks one by one. And Unbreaking prevents that the same way it would normally do. But if you mine too much the tool might get destroyed.

Fortune and Silk Touch are, I hope, self explanatory.

*Download*

To install this in your world save, open the world save and open the folder "datapacks". Drop the contents of the Download into the datapacks folder and it should work immediatly. If it doesn't maybe restart your world or enter the command "/reload" if you're opped.

*Other Information*

The more you mine with it, the more Hunger you get. You can even get mining fatigue if you mine over 100 Blocks at once, and if you're too hungry you can't veinmine at all, so keep an eye on your Hungerbar.

If something is not working it means that I messed something up, let me know and I try to fix it ASAP.

When redstone is carried into an unloaded chunk, does the signal "wait" for the chunk to be loaded, or can it dissipate without ever getting the chance?

An 8 year old's Minecraft Q&A blog - please help encourage my boy to write <3

Posted: 15 Jun 2018 07:38 PM PDT

My son doesn't do so well with writing, so his mum is encouraging him to start writing a Minecraft Q&A blog. Please check it out here, if you're interested: minecraftfactsbyelliott.wordpress.com - if you want to all a question, please use the contract page on his site.

Here's her introduction: "🕷️🕸️🐖🐔 Hi - Elliott is going to be trying out writing his first blog this summer. I am encouraging him to do this to practice his creative writing skills since this is something he finds challenging at school. He would like to write about one of his favorite subjects - Minecraft.

He does better with writing when he has something specific to focus on so I was wondering if any of you, or your children, had any burning questions about Minecraft that he might be able to answer - suitable for an 8 year old of course. :)

The blog is called 'Fun Facts about Minecraft from the Desk of Elliott'. Thanks.👾👾"
