The official forums have gone full Nineteen Eighty-Four

I know you all already hate the official forums. Here is more reason to hate them. Literally HOW is my topic worthy of getting me a warning? Truly sad that they have gone so severely towards the safe space side of things.

I need free sigil swapping on legendary weapons. My inventory is getting out of control. T.T

I feel so stupid when I first used copper fed salvage

Posted: 15 Jun 2018 04:04 PM PDT

I'm a new player. I bought the copper fed salvage because it was on sale last week. I've always thought people are so rich. How could they possibly afford 3 coppers per salvage. I finally used up all the salvage kit that I was given from personal story.

I used it the first time...

I was charged 27 coppers for salvaging all blues.... Oh... THAT copper. Not the copper I mined... Alright.

Leveling a new character after a long break, the beauty of this game is just amazing!

Posted: 15 Jun 2018 10:59 AM PDT

FYI: If you returned after a long break and your character seems underperforming, your stat-selectable gear might've reset

Posted: 15 Jun 2018 04:18 AM PDT

Quite a while back (at least once around late autumn 2017, maybe after that again) there was a patch that fixed/updated some stat sets on stat-selectable gear, and as a result, players were allowed to re-select the stats.

If you missed these news and haven't checked some of your characters in a while, it might turn out that some pieces have been reset to no stats. Naturally one would likely update their build after not playing a character for a while, but since there seems to be no UI indication of it, this can be easily overlooked.

Time to get the popcorn...

My gf is playing through the personal story the first time. She has told me repeatedly that Tybalt is her favorite character, to the point of quoting him almost daily.

She just hit level 60. I can't wait.

Would you be interested in another Dragon Stand style map?

Posted: 15 Jun 2018 05:47 AM PDT

When HOT first came out, people weren't happy that 1 of the 4 maps wasn't a real map. And instead one giant event chain. It made sense at the time, because we got so few maos, and there wasn't an expectation that we'd be getting more maps soon.

Now that there are so many maps in the game, with more constantly coming out, would you be open to the next xpac having another map dedicated to a massive meta?

I think that Dragon's Stand is the best open world content this game has. It is so epic and involved, while being easy enough that everyone can join in. Having another map like this would add a lot of replayable content to the next xpac.

The Dialogs I love.

We got the jungle, we got the desert, what other environments would you like to see in upcoming expansions?

Posted: 15 Jun 2018 10:58 AM PDT

(ThatShaman's Historical Guide of Tyria to help you look at the map)

I'm not huge on the lore of the game so I won't be getting into that stuff. Rather I will just talk about the aesthetics I would like to see.

Personally, I really hope we get a lot of deep foresty areas such as the forest we saw in Bitterfrost Frontier. I'd love to be surrounded by great towering trees, not necessarily in a snowy area though.

I would also love to see some fully underground areas (although not as claustrophobic like Tangled Depths). The dwarf ruins in PoF were really fun to explore and gave me heavy LotR vibes. Deepholm from WoW also comes to mind as one of the beautiful underground zones, although I feel like this zone is already relatively similar to Draconis Mons

A Reminder to secure your account

Posted: 15 Jun 2018 05:12 PM PDT

I'm taking a short break from GW2 and haven't logged in for about a week. So imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning to a text message that reads "Your ArenaNet code is: xxxxx."

Apparently someone tried to log-in to my account. Luckily I was able to log-in and change my password. However if I didn't have 2-step verification it's possible I could have lost my account and all the progress I made over the last 5 years.

Since there are a lot of new players I figured this would be a good time to mention this feature. You can activate 2-step verification on your ArenaNet account page. Plus as an incentive to do so you get a pretty sweet mini out of the deal.

Saddest GW2 Subplot I’ve Encountered

Posted: 15 Jun 2018 04:55 AM PDT

Hunter Glorg in Domain of Vabbi. Took me a minute to finish that hero point but it made me sad as fuck just thinking about it before I went to sleep tonight. He literally says a few lines but it kinda hit me hard.

Anyway just saying my thoughts, gnight.

Edit: here's a link of the encounter https://youtu.be/2Lk-rVIHFys?t=2h8m10s

[Art] Vectored portrait of my Guardian

Best way to find more armor skins?

Posted: 15 Jun 2018 06:53 AM PDT

I've been trying to figure this out but for some reason when i hear people on YouTube videos saying "you get this skin from this blah blah achievement and this place or that" I am so lost.

I just returned and am basically a gw2 noob. I do have an 80 thief, and can travel most places in game.

How do I get more armor skins so I can participate in fashion wars?

Usefulness of Healers for Events, Fractals, Raids and WvW

Posted: 15 Jun 2018 09:29 AM PDT

As a returning player, I'm trying to understand the usefulness of running a healer's build and set on each game type.

I main a guardian, and for the longest time i've used the Clerics set to run with my guild on WvW (pre HoTs) and it always worked great, but given how meta changes I wonder if that's at all useful now.

I have invested a bunch on a full exotic Cleric's set with Water Runes, Ascended Cleric's Mace, Shield and Staff.

The build I run is mostly core guardian with Altruistic healing, boon duration and extra toughness for the party. Utility skills are usually, Bow of Truth, Signet of Mercy, Sanctuary or Hallowed Ground and Signet of Courage.

I guess the question I'm asking is, would you rather have someone running this build on your group, or have an extra berserker balls to the walls damage build (which seems to be preferred based on the toxic comments I got in game so far).

Let me know your thoughts on which game types / situations you think having a dedicated healer is a good pick
