When to pick slark and when to not? Posted: 11 May 2018 03:37 PM PDT I'm trying to learn slark, but I'm a bit unclear on who really counters him and why. I have a little more idea who he's good against, but if anyone has any notes on that it'd be appreciated too [link] [comments] |
Made a video on why replay analysis is the most effective way of learning dota Posted: 11 May 2018 05:49 AM PDT Hi guys. So I've been answering questions on dota learning subreddits recently, i started to notice a pattern on the answer to most questions. They all get answered by the ability to do analytical thinking. The difference between miracle and me and you is 10-20% the way we press our buttons, and 80-90% is the way our brain processes the game. Meaning the level of analytical thinking determines 80-90% of our "skill". Now what replay analysis is, is the exercise for brain to do analytical thinking. It's exactly like building a muscle. The more consistently you do it, the more it grows. I explain furthur in the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tzbKUSuOXQ Ps. This is my first recorded vid ever so forgive me for the unedited mistakes and >Whoops moments [link] [comments] |
A 2.7k mmr player who wants to climbing up to 4k mmr Posted: 11 May 2018 12:41 PM PDT Hi reddit, ive been playing dota for 1.5 years. Now im 2.7k archon(4). My hero pool as pos1: am, ck, slark, jug, sven,pl,morph pos2: lina, storm, tinker and od pos3: tidehunter, bristleback, batrider, enigma and timbersaw pos4 : bh, sk, kunkka, nightstalker pos5: shaman, wd, ogre , bane , aa but except those heroes i know how to play with every hero. And i have too many matches with all heroes except earth sprit and visage. Anyway, that is all to say is in this mmr bracket how can i win game. I can be tilted easily from my teammates and it affects me negatively. If i focus on my game i can win mid or i can win lane where i am in. Also, i think my mechanics are better than other 2k mmr players. i always farm faster than enemy team and my teammtes. But i cant kill enemy heroes with my advantage i earned with my well-farm. The main problem is that i cannot finish game. What if we won all lanes as team but my whole teammates wants farm to be 6-slotted and they dont listen me they say fuck you. Whereas we can get objectives fast when 4 enemy is dead even we can get eagis easily when we are 5 enemy team is 3 so its 3vs5. But they dont listen me and i say its hard to finish the game in 2k mmr everybody wants farm for no reason nobody thinks objectves. Everybody wants farming jungle and they all are losing too much xp and gold from lane. Supports dont get wards. %90 of my pos2 games i win mid i ganked sidelanes and getting ton of kills i gave my teammates a big advantage and they prefer get back and farm and i got tower solo. Also i buy wards where we need but we are losing and im the highest farm, lvl, push, objectives player in game. For instance in my lina game i was 20-3 or smth and my team just fed. 4 towers was destroyed just by me. i had the highest building damage and enemy heroes damage. So, i wanna learn how to improve myself to finish games or what can i do to win games because its realky hard to win with 4 retard player. and maybe you can say you are against 5 retards with 4 retards but its really hard to finish games. %90 of my games i win mid but game is loss i really need to solve this problem and i wanna be a 4k player. Please help me about this issue [link] [comments] |
Good heroes to learn the essentials of carrying with? Posted: 11 May 2018 06:33 PM PDT I'm a Crusader 0 who exclusively plays offlane, roaming, and hard support, and my mechanical skill is super bad. What are some good heroes to learn how to carry (farming patterns, decision making, mechanics, etc.) with? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
General tips against Storm Spirit Posted: 11 May 2018 03:09 AM PDT general tips against storm spirit being picked up early at draft or surprise last pick. defensively and offensively. also question: while SS is "mid-zipping", can silencers global silence (or some extent DP and DR's silence) still apply the debuff even if he's invulnerable? Been 2k all my life, quitted and returned. Need help Posted: 11 May 2018 06:42 AM PDT The title says it, in my circle of friends are all 6k and even 7k. I faced an extremely high amount of pressure whenever I play with them and it even extended to my solo games. I quit playing for years when I harmed my friend in real life after I snapped in game. (Yes it was that bad) I was encouraged to play again as I have nothing to replace Dota with. I want to get out of 2k and yet I've dipped. 2.6k to 2.3k isn't encouraging at all, I'm really afraid that I get another episode. I usually play Support however in an effort to climb I've been forcing myself to practice Pos 1 and 2. I absolutely detest supporting at my tier after not seeing myself getting better at all no matter what I do. https://www.dotabuff.com/players/107830546 NOTE: The battle cup is not played by me but by my friend who needed to dodge his girlfriend and other coworkers who are playing the battle cup as well. Other high mechanical skill heroes are mostly played by my friend. Thank you. [link] [comments] |
How to deal with Axe early game Posted: 11 May 2018 08:07 AM PDT Hi, I'm low MMR, 1.5k. I'm not really new to dota, I used to play only bot games because people are more friendly. But now I'm trying out ranked. I play mainly support and really hate having an Axe in my lane, which is about 75% of my games. I feel like he just stands in the middle of the creep waves/heroes and/or cuts waves and gets free farm and exp. It doesn't matter how much I try to harass him with right clicks/spells, it barely even tickles him. Most of the time my carry will try to stop him as well and then both of us just die, even accelerating his farm more. Is there a good support hero that can dumpster him early game? Or some better strategy or coping mechanism? I've had my most success vs him with Silencer, but that's only in late game after I can prevent his blink initiation. Most games I get flamed by my safe laner after Axe has snowballed and is ruining every lane. My favorite heroes to play are Venge, CM, and Skywrath. But I feel like in my MMR, my success rate is relatively low with these heroes and is highly dependent on having a really competent carry to follow around. I've been having more success lately with either pushing heroes like Shadow Shaman and Warlock or durable supports like Silencer/Ogre because I feel like even if my team isn't fighting well together I can have an impact. Level 1 dagon as first major item more viable now? Posted: 11 May 2018 11:49 AM PDT I see a lot of heroes rush Veil and when you actually break it down, early-mid game, 25% damage amp will end up doing less than a flat 400 magic damage. Dagon used to cost 180 mana which was a ton early, but now at 120 mana it's actually similar cost to many spells and very reasonable in terms of damage per mana. The int gives +270 mana pool on an int hero. Obviously not just any hero could do it, but maybe it's worth considering more than previously on Zeus, Pugna, Necro etc.. [link] [comments] |
Low MMR Shadow Shaman - could anyone take a look at a replay? Posted: 11 May 2018 03:14 PM PDT Hey, I've been doing quests for Dota+ and Battlepass lately, so I was mainly playing heroes out of my comfort zone (lost MMR), but recently got the Shadow Shaman for the Cavern, and I had a lot of fun in a game in which we lost. I felt I did pretty good compared to my other games, but definitely made mistakes... but that game gave me back motivation to play more seriously and improve. Would anyone mind taking a look? I would appreciate both micro and macro advice. I will add some of my self-analysis below to illustrate my thoughts on this game. Game: https://www.opendota.com/matches/3882509888 Profile: https://www.opendota.com/players/33215445 So, lane started pretty well, with a double kill, but I forgot to pull at 2:15 and 2:45 and the lane was pushing too much. For the next minute I think at times I was too close to CK without full health and if he was paying attention he could have killed me easily. In general was inefficient for the next few minutes... sloppy pulls, totally forgot about the new bounty at 5:00. But ok, could be worse I guess. Next CK kill was sloppy, shouldn't have let him initiate on me, but worked out. Zeus then suicided on us, more of his mistake than us playing well I guess. Next pull I didn't think that the hard camp would spawn mid-pull, perhaps I could have managed to cross-pull... TIL. Missed the next pull because I felt MK was not safe, and it seems I was probably right. Me dying was probably worth it I think? So then, pushing wave the ulti on the tower. I felt safe without warding on the cliff first, bad it turned out pretty bad. I did not notice either that MK was so low or that CK was level 6, so extra vision would not have helped me anyway... Then I wasted my ulti on CK. Probably because I hadn't played SS in quite a while, and had a wrong feeling of whether I could catch him with shackles only. Wish I had a point in Hex there (My build of preference is 4/0/2/1 and then max Hex). But anyway since the wards would keep the lane pushed, I thought to gank mid, which worked out OK. And then I fed without reasoning. I should had coordinated with Sniper and waited. Probably overconfident, and also was not aware on how the matchup between sniper and sf was up until that point. Did not expect it so bad. So anyway I thought bottom was free, I could chip away at the tower. If I had stayed a few seconds more, would be a tower kill. Meh, was not feeling safe due to SF. Next gank I was probably too greedy with the shocks... but worked out. He was probably more scared than he had to. Then Boom. Did totally not expect SF there. Zeus suicided that way before so honestly it did not feel any weird that someone else would be there as well. Then Boom again, didn't even see it coming. To be honest, probably the first time I die to a CK like this. After tower, next gank I think I did well in that I was expecting AM top to blink so I could catch him later. Not really needed but oh well. Next tower I had warded so I saw them coming, but I had no sentry with me... we shouldn't had advanced as a team so much. I dropped wards hoping it could help, but meh. That was probably very costly. And I was expecting that the tower would fall, so I didn't place them near enough. Next push was definitely time to go back, but team didn't listen. And I had no TP, so I fucked up a bit, but not sure if I should had tried to escape south, I felt they would catch me. We probably lost the game around this point. At around 24:30 I heard SF's shadowblade, so was able to respond correctly. Was prepared this time. Then my team jumped the gun and initiated without me, so MK fed. Eh well. Also not having blink yet definitely hurted me. Should have got it before Ghost Scepter. But I think Ghost worked out pretty well that game. Probably better than force staff I guess? Then my team fed a few times pointlessly solo, I believe I helped get some kills here and there, but we were playing defensively all in all, they outfarmed us and outcarried us. Was trying to give some vision and sentries to prevent initiations, but not sure what could I have done better. We held some pretty decent defenses at times, but overall seemed hopeless. As for me, my biggest mistake probably was getting Greeves instead of Aghs, which is probably because I hadn't played SS in a while and just... forgot about it. But in hindsight probably wouldn't have helped much against all those illusions anyway? Not sure. But should definitely had tried. Finally, during the gank at 40:00 not sure if I could have done anything else any better given Zeus :| [link] [comments] |
Guys viper is pretty insane now! Posted: 11 May 2018 11:13 AM PDT All you need is a yasha based item and a bkb and maybe a hurricane pipe and you can just bulldoze people. With 2nd skill and the either talent at 10 you can flashfarm jungle between waves or on the way back to safe zones, and with treads and a ferrying a few clarities you never run out of mana. You can build him as a ganker, wave pusher, initiator, utility pos 3 or a tank and even a building hitter - he's fuck all kinds of versatile. His talents are really great - attack speed, poison attack affecting buildings at 20 and 2nd skill also getting a silence at 25. I'm finding him amazing at lower brackets. Am I just late to the party? How do you guys play him? What is he great against? (Apart from the usual axe) Also who fucks him up? [link] [comments] |
I've been in 2k since ranked came out. I need help. Posted: 11 May 2018 03:53 AM PDT Title says it all. Reaching 5k has always been a goal of mine, ever since ranked came out. However, I've been in 2k since forever. The highest I've ever reached was 3100 or something a few months ago. I know I suck, like, I don't feel like I deserve a higher rank. Right now, the 2.8k level of Dota is challenging enough, which probably means I'm at the rank I deserve. Still, I really wanna get gud. I've watched Purge's Videos, BSJ's, and occasionally some twitch streamers. I'd appreciate it if someone can help me. EDIT: I also do my own replay analyses, and those of pros. I really don't know what else is lacking Here's my Dotabuff: https://www.dotabuff.com/players/126850087 [link] [comments] |
Hotkeys layout: Advanced, compact and simple. Posted: 11 May 2018 01:47 PM PDT So I have been tweaking and searching to improve my hotkeys and here is the result:(https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1AIEUKiLRbw_Up8XkmpjbfQNbJuZUVxDdkKJPdexa6xI/edit?usp=sharing). In the spreadsheet there is a few notes on what or why some keys are priorities and how to use it, excuse me for the format I hope is clear.. If you are not into excel I may post some pic here: (https://imgur.com/a/Mlz23Iu) so you can see the layout without diggin the spreadsheet. If you are using a different layout it may hurt a lot to change, you can switch or just adapt your current with some ideas about modifiers and priority from this layout. Hope you like it, tell me what you think and we can maybe improve it further! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 11 May 2018 06:08 AM PDT I watched EG vs Keen Gaming earlier and saw they put luna + a support in the offlane and a centaur in the safelane, is this due to the new patch? [link] [comments] |
Question about quickcast on key down/up Posted: 11 May 2018 09:52 AM PDT So I really like the option to quickcast on key up. When playing Void or Disruptor for example, holding down the ability hotkey for Chrono/Kinetic Field shows the area of effect, as well as the rangefinder and that can be really useful. However I've been playing for a while this way and I'm noticing that it's a little slower that key down. It messes with Blink for instance and isn't very convenient with some spells/items. Is there a way to specifically have some hotkeys activate on key up separately, through console or something? [link] [comments] |
How not to lose all lanes in the 2-1-2 meta? Posted: 11 May 2018 05:14 AM PDT Let's say I'm in safelane against an annoying dual offlane, if the pos 4 comes to help, the pos 3 will probably lose his lane, the enemy supp will start rotating too and our mid will be ganked as well as me. I'm mostly asking this because of all the bad experience I've had in battlecup. Maybe it's the draft bad to begin with? How should you draft around a late game carry? What are some good picks? I like to play spectre obviously, as you can see from my flair [link] [comments] |
