Posted: 27 May 2018 08:31 AM PDT TLDR: I wish HOTS maps were based in lots of actual blizz games locations and not that much on Nexus originals. How cool would that be? overall i usually dislike "nexus originals" inventions , i prefer struff strictly from blizz franchises, warcraft , diablo , starcraft and overwatch, there is so much posibilities since its a crossover of massive machises that i don't get all this focus on the "nexus", iconic places like: Diablo (aside from D3 style maps): -Tristram -Diablo 1 cathedral with more than 2 Levels (like mines but more) -Basically every diablo 2 act and most famous locations on each of these is a potential map, rogues act 1 (cathedral), lut gholein desert (bugs caves, undead tombs), kurast jungle (pygmees, mephisto temple), hell, harrogath (ancients peak, ice caves) Warcraft: -All capital cities have potential if you put some imagination (like involving city vendors, the guards, the king or warchief as NPC...) -Any raid boss encounter or the whole raid can be turned into a map too, and theres only a "few" to say somthing (blackwing lair, onyxia, molten core, naxxramas and a looong etc...) -Any leveling zone in the game, involving as objective some iconic quest in that specifict zone. (Like: un'goro and the paladin on a donkey, Silithus and que Qiraji, Barrens "crossroads" maps, theramore destruction, .... anything goes) Overwatch seems to have good representation since all the maps are directly inspired on OW maps from the game, even if hanamura had flaws its the line they must follow. And the same with starcraft, you already know what i meant, the sc ones are cool already in my opinion, from famous planets and known sc universe creatures and npcs in there. In overall what i wanted to ask is just that, why all the focus on "Nexus originals" when you've got all these material from blizz franchises? i think people who play hots are mostly blizz fans than moba fans, i mean, i think the majority of hots player base knows and have played atleast one or more of the games hots is based on, people who have never played a blizz game and play hots must be a real minority, then, why not give the players some scenarios they love and will enjoy more than "random" stuff? Turn HOTS into an even huge Blizzard theme park, not just with lots of heroes but also with maps and music. [link] [comments]

Is there any reason Alex can't reactivate her W for a lesser but faster heal? Posted: 27 May 2018 04:51 PM PDT I love Alex see flair. But her W is so easily countered by aoe or displacement. I fear she will never be meta unless she gets some kind of further control of how it is activated. So maybe we should be able to reactivate it earlier but for a lesser amount. [link] [comments]

Nexomania drop-rate is a joke. Posted: 27 May 2018 12:01 PM PDT I grinded and opened around 15 chests by now, re-rolled at least every other one of those too, all I got from the event was sprays and portraits. I mean, I get that I won't get legendaries or epics out of every chest, but I did get epics and legendaries, they just weren't for this event, which feels like absolute bullshit. Open an event chest, hear "LEGENDARY" and then get that one Diablo skin I never wanted and still don't want... I'd rather have taken the rare Diablo skin from this event than the legendary one I can always get... Shouldn't the rarest item - if not guaranteed - at least have a higher chance to be event-related? Getting epics and legendaries, only for them to be the ones you already ignored for months, just feels bad... Pic related, what my event chests look like: https://imgur.com/a/JelTlzA [link] [comments]
Why isn't there a feature to reroll daily quest?? Posted: 27 May 2018 05:33 AM PDT I am not talking about any workaround to this problem but that if it is a thing it should be solved in a way or another. Depending on the quest no one wants to play those from time to time depending on the player mood but without a reroll we are practically forced into doing so and just have to waste time going through AI to get it over or if we want to pvp with it we will not be able to even play properly with whatever we are forced to or else we just lose out on the quest reward by not playing which no one wants. I get specialist quest so much and I really don't play them much so I just have to ignore it or force them through AI or lose through pvp mode and I am really not liking this which I feel many are the same as well. Why are fountains in ARAM brawls not protected until the gate falls? Posted: 27 May 2018 05:00 PM PDT As it stands there is zero counterplay in Brawls to destroying fountains behind the gate. You can only protect the fountain for so long before the person backdooring kills the fountain. I understand that Heroes Brawl is not a major game mode for this game, but it ruins the experience when someone decides to cheese your fountains for a few deaths. Before anyone mentions balancing not being particularly relevant in brawls, Chromie and Abathur are banned from these brawls. There is obviously some level of balancing going on with this game mode. Is Abusive Chat report abuse getting out of control? Posted: 27 May 2018 09:40 AM PDT Lately it seems the community has caught on to the fact that the abusive chat report is the only report that seems to matter As a result - it is being used for everything. Don't like someone's draft pick? Abusive chat report. Someone said something mildly critical that you don't like? Abusive chat report. Someone died too many times? Abusive chat report. I've even seen people in chat say "report him for abusive chat - it's the only one that matters - don't bother using other reports" in response to someone 'throwing' a draft pick GMs will not overturn your silence - if you get one - unless you've never said anything critical. It isn't just insults or foul language - if you said "can you stop feeding so much" or "stop engaging without us" - they will uphold your silence on that. As I've seen discussed elsewhere, the go-to defense against this is to simply never talk to your teammates and turn chat off - is this the environment we want to encourage? What are solutions? I wish people would stop saying GG before the game even starts Posted: 27 May 2018 01:45 PM PDT I think it's super petty and demotivating for the team everytime someone says GG before the game ends. I've seen it countless times before we even reach level 5. Why even say it? You can't for real give up and be that pety before we even get started. Alot of characters depend on late game builds. I've seen games with the team 6 levels behind and they turned it around to a win. There's always hope, don't be petty and quit from the start before you try! Work with your team! Here are the 3 Diablo builds that are currently performing well (52-56% win rates): Posted: 27 May 2018 12:56 PM PDT Shadow Charge: This is the closest to the old fashioned Diablo style designed around bursting down one target. 56% win rate. Feast on Fear -> Sacrificial Soul -> Malevolence -> Either -> Devastating Charge -> Domination Flame Stomp: Devils Due -> Souls to the Flame -> Eternal Flames -> Lightning Breath -> Hellfire -> Debilitating Flames 55% win rate Auto-Attack: Feast on Fear -> Life Leech -> Diabolical Momentum -> Apocalypse -> Cruelty -> Overpowering Nightmare 52% win rate The super popular old Diablo build that people really need to stop picking: Devils due -> Sacrificial Soul -> Diabolical Momentum 42% win rate. Diabolical Momentum is just so incredibly terrible now unless you're going full AA build. These builds are based off of Hotslogs Diablo builds (scroll to the bottom) for HL. UD is looking pretty similar, and same goes for when you just look at diamond+. They aren't perfect optimal pro builds, they're just the builds that have statistically performed well since the rework. The new builds do not seem to have much leeway since all the talents in each build have so much synergy and each build requires Diablo to be played pretty differently. Just figure I'd help out people trying Diablo so we can have less games thrown by dumb builds. [link] [comments]

Hotslogs seem to confirm this https://www.hotslogs.com/Sitewide/HeroAndMapStatistics Chromie is nowhere to be found. Thank you Blizzard! You made the Nexus a better place! Posted: 27 May 2018 01:50 PM PDT Hi guys, I haven't seen this tip anywhere on the sub so figured I would share. When you are pulling a hero TO you as Alarak and you are very close to the hero, the hero will push into you and you will be pushed back as well. (Here's an example of this from McIntyre: https://youtu.be/GJ9z77pD8j4?t=3m44s, watch him pull Kerrigan). Alternatively, if you issue a move command in the direction you are pulling from, you will instead PASS THROUGH the hero you are pulling. You can use this similar to an Artanis swap. See below video. First pass of dummies I don't right click ahead of me after pulling. Second set I immediately right click in the same direct I pulled the dummy from: [link] [comments]

Posted: 27 May 2018 12:38 PM PDT I've had this idea kicking around for a while and then Carbots did his IdBeCoolIf on Anduin and told people to post their own suggestions. So blame him. Anduin, like his father Varian, is a multiclass hero. But instead of changing roles he instead focuses on subcategories within the Support role. Specifically he can choose Sustain healing over time, Protection against burst damage, or Control to set up his allies and deal damage. He starts with one ability for each category, but at level 10 he chooses to specialize. This not only gives him his standard Heroic option but also changes one of his basic abilities. He will be giving up one of the support categories to really focus on another, similar to how Varian gives up one stat to increase another. Anduin has mostly single target abilities before choosing Heroics. They are intentionally a little on the bland side so you don't get overwhelmed with having double the number of skills to learn, but can still be used skillfully for greater effect. His acquired Basic Ability will often complement the other skill in his kit with the same theme. Note that he doesn't quite mirror the WoW Priest specializations. That might irk some people but I'd rather fit him neatly into HotS than go for maximum reference material. Trait: Resolute As Anduin or nearby allied Heroes take damage, Anduin gains temporary spell power. If a fight is not going well for you Anduin gets a boost to help turn it around. Note that this is damage taken not health missing, so if you heal up your allies and they take even more damage it continues to build up. It decays over time if it fails to increase for several seconds. Basic Abilities Q: Plea: Heals a single ally for a small amount. Low cooldown. A bread and butter healing spell. Better at long term healing output. W: Guardian Spirit: Summons a spirit at target location with 10 HP. When a nearby ally takes damage, reduce that damage by a flat amount and remove 1 HP from the Guardian Spirit. Each enemy attack against the Spirit itself takes 1 HP regardless of damage, similar to Lunara's Wisp. This is your primary way of dealing with burst damage, either against a single ally or a group (but it's much better against single target focus fire). It will completely negate many weak hits but provide a lower percentage of protection against a few very big strikes. No matter how the damage is distributed it will always prevent the same amount of net damage. E: Mind Flay: Slows and deals damage to an enemy over 4 seconds. The slow and damage ramp up over time. Anduin's primary damage source and crowd control. Instead of decaying like most slows, it instead gets more powerful over time. Quick reactions can get opponents fairly far away and / or negate the damage, but if they stay and fight things will get nasty for them. Heroics For each of his Heroics Anduin equips a notable weapon instead of a generic staff he starts with, which in addition to granting the standard Heroic ability will also change one of his basic abilities. They all have ranged attacks by firing energy bolts or whatever. His Heroics tend to be a little less powerful than average, as he's already becoming heavily specialized in a category and I don't want it to be total overkill. At level 20 he can also pick up a second one similar to Alarak. T'uure, Beacon of the Nauru (Staff) Increases Sustain, gives up Control The most Healbot of the three options Heroic: Divine Hymn: A channeled ability that heals all nearby allies over 5 seconds. You cannot move while channeling. Anduin puts himself at risk to use this one as he just has to sit there while channeling, but it's a potent group heal. A more concentrated Tranquility. Also countered by CC. E:Mind Flay becomes Holy Nova: Deals damage to enemies and heals allies in a large area. This is more Hearthstone than WoW, but let's be honest he's more famous there anyway. Loses any semblance of crowd control but still maintains some damage output. A much more group friendly heal to complement the single target Plea. Fearbreaker (Mace) Increases Protection, gives up Sustain A bit riskier but more effective way to manage your team's health. Heroic: Purify: Remove all roots, slows and stuns and Armor reductions from allies in an area. Yup, an AoE cleanse, probably with a 60 second cooldown. Perfect for those mass CC teams that are such a pain at times. He won't be getting a Cleanse from other talents so if you really want it this is your only option. Q:Plea becomes Power Word Shield: Shield an allied Hero for a large amount for 3 seconds. At the end of the shield's duration the target is healed for a small percentage of the shield's remaining amount. If used properly this skill will block more damage than Plea is capable of healing, but your out of combat healing is reduced and if enemies are good at switching targets it will mostly go to waste. It still does some healing though. This is much better against large single strikes than Guardian Spirit. Xal'atah (Dagger) Increases Control, gives up Protection For when your allies are pansies and you need to do the dirty work yourself. A much more aggressive option, probably preferable in double support comps. Heroic: Mind Bomb: Inflicts a target Enemy Hero with Mind Bomb. After 2 seconds or if the target dies, all nearby enemies are damaged and stunned for 2 seconds. Let's throw a bit of chaos into the enemy party, shall we? A point and clicks stun to a single target that also forces them to get away from allies or risk screwing over the whole team. Really the AoE stun thing is just a perk, the main benefit is to separate and initiate on a single target. W:Guardian Spirit becomes Shadow Crash: Fire a slow moving bolt that explodes if it connects with an enemy Hero, dealing AoE damage. Once again a skill with synergy with your standard Basic Ability of the same theme. A slow moving target is better for a slow moving projectile, so Mind Flay them before you shoot. This gives you a lot more damage output, especially against multiple targets. Using it for wave clear is situational since you have to hit a hero. Storm Tier At level 20 Anduin learns to dual wield, letting you pick a second weapon. This does not change any of your basic abilities but will let you take a Divine Hymn, Mind Bomb or Purify (you can't take the one you already have of course). Alternatively... Shalamane (Sword) As the alternative option Anduin can equip his father's sword. This gives him permanent armor and greatly increases his basic attack damage. Basically if you're tired of getting dived at you get some teeth. Your other weapon will be wielded in your offhand for aesthetic purposes and still throws energy bolts at distant enemies for your ranged attack. If you equip Shalamayne you also gain Holy Fang as an activated ability similar to Varian's Lion Fang. It deals damage in a line, slows enemies it connects with by a small amount, and heals you and nearby allies for a small amount for each hero hit. It has something like a 10 second cooldown. A good general purpose ability. [link] [comments]
Why there is a Lucha Libre Realm, El Guapo is the Realm Lord and Proposal for a Lucha Libre Map Posted: 27 May 2018 01:42 PM PDT So I put a lot of thought into this and have decided that El Guapo is most likely a Realm Lord. We've been talking about Realm Lords a lot now that we have lore comics somehow. What makes me think El Guapo is not only a powerful entity but a Realm Lord? Well, it all started when I was thinking about how goofy the concept of Diablo as a luchador is. It's completely ridiculous that The Lord of Terror would don a wrestling attire. Or is it? If this is not a joke, then the only explanation is that he's being controlled by a stronger force into acting like a luchador. Then it hit me. Do you know of The Grandmaster? , well I guess you do because he was in Thor Ragnarok. But perhaps it wasn't noticeable in that movie that the Grandmaster is a demi-god in the Marvel universe who has the hobby of capturing powerful beings and forcing them to fight in his arena. And it makes sense to interpret El Guapo as this. El Diablo, El Jefe Garrosh, La Parca Lunara and la Pantera Sonya are all being controlled into letting El Guapo fulfill his fantasy of being a legendary wrestling announcer. Everything in that sub-realm of the Nexus serves his will. Heroes that are brought to the Nexus somehow and end in El Guapo's Realm (I am going to call it "Villa Lucha" from now on) end up under El Guapo's control and have to become werestlers for his entertainment. Yes, that's right. Wrestling is Fake in the Nexus, it is all to entertain El Guapo. Heroes are slaves. And now that we established that Villa Lucha is a Realm we need a battleground to match. And here's an idea for a Lucha battleground:
(yes, this mechanic is going to allow instances of 'stealing the belt' from whoever really killed the champion. This is intended.) While the champion (the hero that is holding the belt) stays in the ring, challengers will start spawning in the ring:
So with that we got an objective and a reward and a reason for teams to stay in the ring. But we don't want them to stay in the ring forever. So there's other things in the map. Mercenary camps where you can recruit special luchadores are a given. I think the camp power distribution should be similar to BoE's. But there is an exception: At the top, there is a boss, the General Manager. Who wears a suit and dons a mask and is a hard/risky-to-defeat boss. When capped, the general manager gives different rewards depending on who is holding the belt:
(Yes, it is completely possible that the team that won the boss will still lose the cage match and the champion will earn himself a full team wipe. That's why you call it the throw pit, hehe) Thanks for reading. [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 May 2018 07:00 AM PDT Hello! In dota2 every hero has (or had?) list of "features" like "durable", "carry", "support", "initiator", etc. I wanted the same thing for Heroes of the Storm, because it would really help me with drafting (I am really slow on picking:D). For quite a some time I thought about creating an app for that and yesterday I started working on it. Here's the the "alpha" version: http://storm-picker.xyz It does not really work on mobile phones now, so be sure to open it from desktop (sorry for that). It's fully open-source: https://github.com/Nondv/storm-picker I post about it now because I want to get some help from community. I have some ideas on future functionalities but right now I have 2 main goals:
I very welcome any help: * Feedback/suggestion here * Opening github issues * Creating pull requests. Thank you for your time Some technical details: * Based on react.js * Has no backend logic (all data is stored in json files). This is convinient because I really hope that it will be community-driven. * Hosted on Github Pages [link] [comments]
