Everything you need to know about Overwatch League Season 1: Stage 3

Schedule

OWL Season 1: Stage 3 begins Wednesday April 4th and ends Sunday May 6th.

Changes to Stage 3

Map Order

Stage 2 changes the map order from A-C-H-E to A-H-C-E. Tiebreaker remains the same.

Blizzard World makes its OWL debut in Stage 3. Ilios moves from the Tiebreaker map into normal rotation. Stage 3 tiebreaker map is TBD.

Brigitte will NOT be available in Stage 3. She will make her OWL debut in Stage 4.

Today Muselk tweeted a picture of him and Jeff Kaplan that accidentally included a banner for new Archives content, "Retribution": https://i.imgur.com/Wb3FkZg.jpg

On the banner in Muselk's tweet, there is a house visible in the background which looks very similar to the houses in the mural, with a chimney and a white window border, set against a dark blue sky: https://i.imgur.com/kWlaNjS.jpg

There is also a cracked glass motif (and a heartbeat line) in the logo, and the window in the mural is broken open.

So...and I'm going to propose something shocking here...

I think Blizzard put up the mural to promote the new Retribution content!

The Chinese Name of the new event is "Venice Operation"

A Chinese game editor visited Blizzard today, met our lord Jeff Kaplan

She shared the Chinese Logo of the new event, and it is "Venice Operation", she replied in the comment section saying that she has already played the new event, and it'll be a brand new map! Hype! Her post on Weibo

Smurfing IS a problem in Overwatch

As we all know the world cup countries that are allowed to participate are the top 20 countries based on the top 150 players average SR. I will use dafran here as an example, but he is off course not the only one "guilty" of this. Dafran currently has 3 acccounts, they are rank 1,2 and 4. These 3 accounts SIGNIFICANTLY boost the average SR of Denmark. Not only do these accounts change the seeding Denmark will have, but Dafran gets to vote 3 times on his countries coach.

Now imagine this happening on a much larger scale, where the top players of each countries all have several accounts in the top 150 players of their country. They all get several votes and can change the outcome, of what should be a fair vote.

I think the only solution for this problem is if Blizzard steps up, and doesn't give these secondary accounts the option to vote. And, doesn't take these accounts into calculation when determining the average SR per country.

Edit: I may have worded this poorly by using the word smurfing. What i mean is alternate accounts, that play at the same level as their main account.

Why I don't like using voice chat.

I'm a 23 year old woman but every time I try use voice chat in this game people assume because of my soft voice that I'm a child. I get met by comments like "wow how old are you?" And when I tell them they laugh and don't believe me. They make fun of me and look down at me.

Just had this experience on Numbani. They wanted me to switch to Reinhardt instead of Orisa but I didn't want to because I'm much more comfortable playing her. I went on voice chat to tell them and they all immediately thought I was a child and were being mean and saying I wasn't good at Orisa either so I should play Reinhardt. They didn't believe I was the age I said I was and kept literally pleading me to play Reinhardt. "Please, please" they were saying.

When I gave in and switched I reminded them I'm not that good at him and they said it's okay. But because of the way they treated me I could no longer play properly. Even though I'm an adult who doesn't live with parents and has a job I can still be a little bit sensitive. I already have a little bit of competitive anxiety so things like this amplify it. I don't think they realised or cared that their comments had an impact on my ability to play.

Many people don't join voice chat because they're afraid their voices will be met by negativity causing them to play worse.

Winston is near-sighted. All of his abilities are based on getting up close to the enemy, because he can't see them from far away. A good example of character building by Blizzard.
