Heroes you enjoy playing but not to gain MMR with

Posted: 27 Apr 2018 02:43 PM PDT

Basically what the title says. I like Magnus and Batrider, really fun abilities and there's nothing like blinking in and pulling off the perfect combo to ruin someone's day but ... this isn't 5k so a lot of things can go wrong including my own execution.

Honorable mention to Shadow Demon, which seems to either make you feel like a pro (... like, 1 out of every 5 games) or else feed like a pro.

And Treant for when I feel like being a tree, and Centaur when I feel like being a horse, usually when alcohol is involved.

Battlefury this patch

Posted: 27 Apr 2018 06:31 AM PDT

Only had a few games on this patch but battlefury atm feels pretty bad, but it was just probably just too good before. The extra 300 gold made me prefer MoM on something like troll warlord. Then I am not sure what to use on heroes like jug if I want farm acceleration. I noticed some high MMR pubs people are just skipping aquila straight to bfury now which I really don't want to do.

Finally reached 3k solo :D

Posted: 27 Apr 2018 06:06 AM PDT

I know that this is nothing to all the 10k redditors here... lol. I have been tryharding my whole life for getting good. I was at 2.4k for 2 years and after spamming jugg in a ton of games, I finally made it to 3001. Even though I am making a lot of mistakes I am able to notice a ton of mistakes from the enemy side and I believe that I can raise my MMR little more.

Since its now "road to 4k", please gimme some tips to make it to 4k so that I can reduce the number of losses during the journey. I usually play carry and don't want to continue spamming. I would love tips from those who made it from 3k->4k, also how long it took to reach there?

Dotabuff

Also, anyone < 3k here. Ask me anything about the game :D and I can help you out.

Posted: 27 Apr 2018 07:48 PM PDT

Hey guys! My name is Trywa and I'm currently attempting to get into coaching. I have been the captain/drafter for multiple qualifier teams that have finished highly (9th-16th finishes). My specialties are position 2 and position 4, but I have a strong understanding of all roles and overall gameplay. Add me up if you're interested in some coaching sessions! http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198076269555/

Pos 4 Help in Midgame

Posted: 27 Apr 2018 06:40 PM PDT

I've been trying to improve so I've been spamming SK playing 4 pos roamer/offlane supp and I feel like I've vastly improved my early game. I'm getting a lot better at ruining the enemy carries game, and giving our offlaner and midlaner easy lanes, but I keep getting games where were ahead at 20-30 minutes, and trying to push our lead but something always happens and we end up getting trashed by the enemy lineup.

What am I supposed to do in these scenarios? I'm often the one shotcalling, directing our team and I try and have us play safe and push the advantage but somebody always ends up feeding and eventually throwing our advantage, and I'm not sure how to prevent this from happening.

Here are a couple games where this has happened recently, I'm the SK in all of them:

https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3853850663

https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3849578331

https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3847984910

How can I prevent this from happening, and help my team succeed through the midgame?

in desperate need of help

Posted: 27 Apr 2018 06:23 PM PDT

i just cant win as storm. used to play him a long time ago and now i cant have any impact.

e.g.:

https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3853939227 - ez game, solo bot as slark against 4 counters.

https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3852392017 - ez mid bs against a triple lane. cuz dp could do nothing.

https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3853967306 - and this. cant farm against sf. all 3 lanes lost we and we get pushed.

what i should and shouldnt do as storm? i watched replays and tried to emulate them and i just cant do it. lane asking for a gank - i come and they just stand and wait. dont go ganking all lanes lost. i'm losing faith in sorm spirit.

Offlane vs Jungle

Posted: 27 Apr 2018 05:40 PM PDT

Since playing solo offlane is basically a masochist feed fest is it viable to pick an offlaner that can potentially jungle (sand king/legion/axe) if its impossible to contest xp from the lane? Just jumping back and forth from offlane jungle to tower if the wave pushes.

I am talking about a game against a tri-lane as a solo offlaner.

Why is alchemist so bad?

Posted: 27 Apr 2018 05:28 AM PDT

Why is alchemist considered weak? I feel like the hero is a better antimage, he can farm very fast with battlefury, maybe twice as fast as AM. If he has 25 min of uncontested farm he can be six slotted by then. If the team plays around him perhaps even faster.
Sure he is countered by spirit vessel, but if he has treads,bf,SnY, bkb + two situational items 25 minutes into the game vessel is not really a factor. He is not great in the midlane, since he cant control runes, so he doesn't have great bf timings, but in the safelane I feel like he is decent. Why I am wrong?

Problem in playing competitively.

Posted: 27 Apr 2018 08:16 AM PDT

I've been playing competitively roughly for 5 years now, in tournaments etc, sometimes where it involves gambling, but it seems everytime when I play I always get so damn nervous that my hands are shaking, can't think and play properly, and its messing up my game, and I can't seem to play at my fullest potential because of this, I think its because I somewhat don't trust my skills, or I'm somewhat overwhelmed if there's a person watching me while playing, anyone can give me an advice besides experience? Any tips I can overcome this weakness?

Late Game Itemization Help

Posted: 27 Apr 2018 01:02 PM PDT

Hey everyone, I am looking for some advice on this particular game: 3852783452.

I played Void and while I'm sure there are plenty of mistakes in other areas, the one thing I felt that I was missing for sure was proper itemization.

Once the game gets that long and I get that much farm, what should I be doing? What items on the other team should I be looking out for in order to counter?

Any advice would be great. Thanks!

Shadow Shaman and closing out games

In this match, I played Shadow Shaman, and though we won, I think that we could have won at an earlier time. What could I have done better in this game to hopefully have won the game earlier?

Looking for casual dota2 players for a public tournament

Posted: 27 Apr 2018 11:09 AM PDT

Hi :)

We did a thing.

We created a dota2 competition site and now we would like to ask for your help to test if the concept behind the idea works and if the homepage can handle many participants. This weekend we will run the very first "public" tournament with 100+ people, starting on Friday at 21 o'clock (CEST). The best / most active players will win an awesome pudge set, rank 2&3 treasures. You don´'t need to download a software or join custom games. These tournaments are not about eliminating other teams or Players. You earn points by playing normal or ranked games (also games as a stack are possible). Who got the most points after the race ends, wins the tournament. The points are determined by a formular, which you can see in the race overview

It is very easy to join this tournament by visiting us at www.yourgamerace.com, log in with your steam account and join the tournament (races tab).

If you have any questions you can add me on steam (Tismatan) or join our discord (you'´ll find the link on the homepage).

Hope to see you around

Invoker fail [3k]

Posted: 27 Apr 2018 12:47 AM PDT

so I was playing voker mid and had decent laning stage, thanks to my team. But failed to deal dmg in the late game. Gous.ai said imma noob and should improve farm, hero/target prios and dmg prios. Now the issue was, we had (through the whole game) defensive wards when we need aggressive ones and vice versa. That's literally the reason I didn't went for dagger. Cause I don't want to jump into fog. Team was playing very scared starting in the mid-game phase. We did win a couple fights and got Aegis. But again... we went very passive and Aegis ran out. That was the point I knew we're gonna lose and so we did. The Mjollnir was a situational choice cause Dire had Megas and the Aeon Disk was a situational too since I catched one Rapier. I couldn't farm nor split push since enemy had constant map control in the end (obviously cuz megas). So yea, I don't know how I could target the enemys better or farm better in that specific game. For instance, I'm a former Invoker spammer but used to play him very rarely in solo ranked these days. This game I just did cause nobody wanted mid.

Please share your thoughts!

How do you guys stay calm in ranked matches?

Posted: 27 Apr 2018 09:35 AM PDT

I often get very frustrated in ranked and tilt alot in games. It might be because of toxic teammates, non-cooperative teammates or I'm just playing poorly. We could be winning the game and I still can tilt. This hasn't happened to me before in other multiplayer games or in past Dota 2 matches. I think it might be because I'm taking the game much more seriously than before.

I get matched with alot of toxic players (no surprise in the lower brackets) and have become pretty toxic myself, there have been players that straight out send death threats to me in chat for the pettiest of reasons like when I ask them not to steal my farm or kills. So if you have any advice to stay calm in ranked matches I would like to hear them. I've tried muting my whole team but it feels counter-intuitive as it's not addressing the problem in the long run and just avoiding it in the short run. Eventually I will have to speak with teammates so I would rather deal with it early on. Thanks.

I am garbage at mid laning and I want to get better.

Posted: 27 Apr 2018 09:07 AM PDT

As the title says. I always get wrecked when I play 1v1 mid SF or any hero for that matter against others. I regularly lose in the 1v1 midlaning search mode.

I am ancient 1 (4.1K MMR) and I always lose my lane. I sometimes even lose to high 2k and low 3k players as well.

Granted mid is something I rarely play (like 1 in 50 games) and I usually play Offlane or support..but still I feel like midlaning is something I want to get good at if I want to become a better player.

I would like the help of someone to help me git gud at midlaning. Roast my garbage non existent laning skills and mechanics and help me get better.

I play in SEA.

Arc Warden as support?

Posted: 27 Apr 2018 08:48 AM PDT

I am finally starting to get this guy down. I have my keys set up to jump between him and his double, and I have made a few good plays. Last game I got 7 kills and died once...pretty good for me.

But I noticed I was simply helping everyone around me. I used the magnetic fields to shield us during team fights and to ramp our attack speed to take out buildings really quick (including protecting us from tower fire).

I use spark wraiths mostly for constant poke damage on their backlines.

I use flux to keep enemies from escaping or pursuing, or just for general ganks.

The reason I do not frontline with him is because I need space to work, I need time to get my tempest double out and unleash all my abilities. When I have some carry like faceless void beating my face in, it's kinda hard to perform all my duties. I've had success sitting in the backline just buffing my team with shields and unloading all my damage at whoever I can. And most of all, I am having fun doing it.

Does anyone here play him as support and have any advice? I have been getting the hand of midas for the farm. Any other items good for him?

DotA is good when you don't have lp

Posted: 27 Apr 2018 07:56 AM PDT

Didn't have lp for like 15 games and even my ping improved a bit, sometimes.

Playing 1 match max per day but I got 2 sets and reached guardian 3 hehe

How do you play Techies against spirit breaker? I have no pro with anyone else. Should I get stasis mines early?
