How about us "vets" get some small cosmetic as a nod to our early backer status?

This could be simple like the ability to grow beards a couple of inches longer (hardly noticeable until up close) or the ability to craft a unique dye colour (means any character could wear clothes dyed with it).

Does anyone actually moderate this subreddit?

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 12:44 PM PST

I've tried taking a break from this sub because it was full of toxic individuals and was hoping to come back and see that it might improve. Instead, every other thread is literally just devolving into pure name calling and people defending their opinion like their life depends on it.

In some of the more recent threads you've got people like /u/gorvi who are clearly just trying to incite people into hateful conversations. There needs to be some kind of rule enforcement to prevent this kind of behavior unless we all want r/DayZ to be known as a toxic echo-chamber. Sure downvoting toxic users helps, but when 2/3rds of a thread's comments are just two people bickering and name calling, of course no one is going to want to spend time browsing this subreddit.

I've personally never been offended by any comments - hell if you do, you probably don't belong on the internet - but I try to come onto reddit and subs like r/DayZ to discuss different views and opinions backed with facts and logic, not to respond to trolls or try and get a rise out of people (although I have done this on occasion, but regret doing it because it is truly a waste of time).

Edit:

Want to thank /u/PwnDailY for responding to this thread and the reassurance that this sub is still moderated, I hope anyone who sees this thread makes a note that there is still another person behind the account. I know I will be making more of an effort to be more respectful, especially towards people with opinions different from my own.

Character yelling in pain when I log in.

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 01:07 PM PST

My legs got hurt earlier today, but I used morphine. Despite that, my character keeps yelling in pain whenever I log in and my screen flashes red for a second. I've gotten a few hats ruined by zombies today, could my... face be broken or something?

EDIT: I used some more morphine, that fixed it! Thanks!

Better way of making Status Report

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 01:54 PM PST

I think most of us would prefer to see less writing and more pictures in the Status Report, something similar that Squad does: http://joinsquad.com/readArticle?articleId=250

Are shotguns still completely anemic?

I remember they were bugged and did insane damage for a while, then got nerfed into the ground. Are they still shit?

A piece from the most recent interview on the dynamic event system-- ties into why DayZ is taking so long to develop, because the developers want to make modding as good as possible.

Is DayZ worth buying ((On sale)) in it's current state?

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 08:56 PM PST

I was considering buying DayZ Standalone, however I'm unsure of the player count and overall enjoyment factor of the game. Would you all recommend or recommend against buying it during an upcoming sale?

Why Do Games Cost So Much To Make? - AAA Game Budgets - Extra Credits (Very interesting to understand where DayZ money went)

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 04:35 PM PST

DayZ it's an early access title right? So why the hell we can't choose to install 0.63 branch just like the experimental branch and play it in its current state? I'd rather play it in the current state and get updates from time to time than wait so much for it

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 09:07 AM PST

and I bet it would have more active players than the stable branch anyway. I don't know if any of you play Rust but when the devs of Rust decided to ditch the old (legacy) version of the game and build the game from scratch again we were able to access it.. and on day 1 the game was so rough and some things were still untextured but oh boy it was fun.. why can't dayz do that? there's literally no reason not to
