Japan to start issuing "Pro Licenses" for esports players

This could dramatically increase the Japanese scene, because (please correct me if I'm wrong) by law they are not allowed to have cash prizes for tournaments due to gambling laws. Especially good news for players like aMSa, who seems to be struggling with money a bit when he travels.

Saw this posted on r/StreetFighter about combating toxicity in the community, thought it was relevant to this sub as well

Posted: 13 Dec 2017 10:11 AM PST

Old post was deleted for not being a self post, you can see the tweets here.

Also thought I'd add a comment in the old thread by /u/Favorite55 that I thought was pretty insightful:

There are so many games to choose from lately, that the worst enemy of most communities is themselves. If you were to go back a few years, the discussion about every game was how to grow the community. These days it's all about what game is "dead" and what game won't make it to next year etc. It's pretty sad indeed. It's like some people are too proud and think that supporting one game means you are somehow backstabbing your main game. This is especially true with a lot of Melee players who have a rage boner for anyone suggesting that Smash 4 is doing good. I hope this changes in the future. For now, support the games you love and let others enjoy what they like. If you go to offline tournaments, you know that the online community and the offline community are like night and day. Offline everyone shows they have some home training and share space together to enjoy themselves. The real community is out there. Don't let online trolls influence your opinion.

Number 039 - My Final Jigglypuff Highlight Video; Hope you enjoy!

Posted: 13 Dec 2017 11:40 AM PST

So the semi-casual crowd has completely moved on from this game, eh?

Posted: 13 Dec 2017 03:48 PM PST

Sucks, I used to have fun with it back in 2014 and 2015. Decided to hop back on For Glory again, but the only opponents I can find are people I can barely even lay a finger on.

I tried For Fun, but that's just empty now. Shame. Maybe if it gets ported to Switch there'll be a larger crowd again, I guess I'll hope for that.

2018 Melee Guides Day 13: Ganondorf Melee Tech Guide

Posted: 13 Dec 2017 09:00 AM PST

Hey everyone, I'm back with Day 13 of the 2018 Melee Guides, this time involving Ganon! This big man doesn't have a large number of techs, but the ones he does have are great. He also does have an incredible NIL game that not too many people care to learn about that speeds him up considerably.

Anyways, here is the new 2018 Ganondorf Melee Techs Guide! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oau70polEHA

Added new sections for:

Ganon NIL's

Updated information for:

Ganon Semi Spikes / Meteors Section (Corrected some information) (Turns out I still made a mistake here because I just have terrible luck checking this section lol so will fix and place the correct version of that tomorrow too)

Extra Information:

Cool music and timestamps as always.

Actually linked the Dark Dive Glitch

Anyways hope you all enjoy! Tomorrow's Guide will be Luigi!

Jigglypuffs back air vs forward air?

Posted: 13 Dec 2017 06:19 PM PST

So I was wondering is back air superior period? When I play jiggs i tend to fair a lot more than back air. Is back airs hitbox just bigger and stronger / the length it can reach? Are they the same?

Not necessarily in the head-to-head, but just overall vs the rest of the cast included.
