True Gaming When I was younger (and had the time) I would play certain games as if they were real life to increase the immersion. Anyone else do/did this?

Some examples:

In Morrowind I would secure a house in a town or city that I liked. Decorate it. Then do menial tasks that weren't even part of the game. Like hunt, or go swimming in the river. When it got stale I would take on a quest and progress the story - then return to my normal life.

In GTA I would stick to the speed limit just to emulate the feeling of driving a flash car through a big city. In San Andreas I would drive like a law-abiding citizen from city to city to collect rent.

In Shenmue I would sleep at night and head to work first thing in the morning to complete manual labour mini-games (that were absolutely awful in hindsight) to earn a pathetically small wage in a game where money wasn't really important.

I found this would help immerse myself in the gaming universe. I'm either not compelled to do it anymore (I'm now 30) or I just don't have the time. I guess as a teenager I not only had plenty of spare time but I also didn't have the luxury of buying every game I wanted, so I was stuck with the same game for months at a time.

My questions are: did/does anyone else do this? and with what games? Most importantly: are there any current gen games that you guys would recommend as a good life-sim (that isn't The Sims) ?

Scheduling Gaming as a Hardcore gamer but also trying to be healthy

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 09:53 AM PDT

Hi all,

I am a hardcore gamer and like to play a lot of single player and mmo games. Recently I signed up for gym and also got heavily into reading books and watching shows. I am having hard time to do much gaming between playing guild wars 2 and destiny 2 and going to gym.

I do not know if the problem is that I have a huge backlog of games that I am getting frustrated of not being able to get throguh. If there are any tips to balance gaming and being healthy that you guys have would be appreciated.

Thank you
