Bungie, DDOSing is not just game breaking, it is also illegal. You tell us you are listening, so here I will tell you your stance on it is not acceptable. Start taking it seriously.

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 04:53 AM PDT

By giving DDOSers a temporary ban and letting them keep the rewards to boot, you are tacitly allowing people to DDOS others. They know your official stance is that they won't be banned, not even the second time they do it.

Not only should you not allow cheating, which is honestly odd that we have to tell you that in the first place, but DDOSing is illegal is most western countries. You should seek to sue the people involved in it.

Any stance other than 'We do not allow DDOS strategies in our game' is completely unacceptable.

A ban of two weeks is not enough. You 'banned' every player for two weeks because of one of your own mistakes. You therefor admit it is an extremely lenient punishment.

Start getting into action.

Bungie you’re temporarily banning comfirmed ddos cheaters and permanently banning PC players running software they were unaware would get them banned. It should be the other way around.

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 04:09 AM PDT

I think people who deliberately try to cheat by using ddos attacks are more deserving of a perma ban than someone on PC who uses a program that works fine with other games but is getting him banned in Destiny 2. PC bans for using overlay software.. etc. should be temporary and come with explanation of the exact reason for the ban so people have a chance to avoid using the software that got them banned in the future.

The Nightfall timer got rid of the thing I enjoyed doing the most in D1

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 08:20 AM PDT

I used to love soloing the Nightfall on all 3 characters each week in Destiny 1. It was the one thing I used to do religiously every week, no matter what. The timer now just got rid of that experience entirely. I'm not a hard core gamer. I used to just take my time and approach each encounter carefully and strategically. Now it just feels like a panic rush, even with 3 people. It's probably an unpopular opinion but I really wish they would get rid of the timer.

My fireteam was a few rounds away from our first EVER (D1 or D2) completed Trials ticket. All of a sudden my teammates start getting DC'd, along with me. I frantically log back in to find a message from someone on the other team, "sucks about your connection better luck next time lol :)"

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 10:16 AM PDT

I know it is just a game, but I feel defeated. I'm not even angry. I'm just more like, yeah, no more Trials for me. I'll stick to Quickplay with my squad and just roll randoms.

How did we go from a decade old game (Halo3.) with custom gametypes like Griffball, SWAT, Shotty Snipes, Action Sack, to a game with two pvps mode that we cant even choose the resulting gametype?

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 12:15 PM PDT

Its stunning and frustrating to think how much choice we had with multiplayer games 10 years ago than we do now from the same company.

Titan is so fucking cool but it is criminally underused

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 02:31 AM PDT

Titan is my favorite patrol zone because it's basically Kamino but in Destiny and everyone knows Kamino was the best map in Starwars Battlefront 1. However, I would gamble to say that as much as like 70% of the map isn't used for anything other than a strike and like 2 adventures. Titan is so small that there is only 2 areas that public events can actually spawn at. Like half (if not more) of the map is the Arcology, and that just isn't used for anything at all outside of Savathun's Song and the Rat King questline. I don't understand why they didnt make patrols and public events spawn inside the arcology. Then to the left side of the map there is also just a bunch of nothing at the Sinking Docks. This means that trying to get rep on Titan is painful because there's basically never public events going on. The one bright side is that it has the Hive Ritual public event which is fuckin' fun. I really hope they open up Titan more in future DLCs.

TL;DR: Titan is small as fuck compared to the other patrol zones so there's nothing to do there. I hope Bungie changes this by expanding upon the Arcology and the Sinking Docks.

After two months of playing Destiny 2, the thing I miss most from Destiny 1 is the subclass customization

Posted: 03 Nov 2017 07:37 PM PDT

I told ya so.

I remember back in Destiny 1 when I first got the Nothing Manacles, a set of gauntlets that make Scatter Grenades home in on enemies once they land and gave you two of them. That combined with Bloom and Annihilate made Voidwalkers not only nigh-unstoppable in PVE, but actually fun to play!

The feeling of throwing a grenade out and wiping a whole group of enemies was the best feeling I've ever had in a videogame, and it happened every 15 seconds or so.

It wasn't just the Manacles that made this setup so fun and rewarding, it was the hunt for the armor required to make the most of it, the feeling of finally reaching tier 5 discipline, the flow of combat that came with vaporizing a group of enemies and finishing off the few still alive with a gun I'd spent weeks trying to get, the sound of the fragments homing into enemies and the blinding lightshow that came with the result.

It wasn't just the 'nades that made it so good either; Novabomb, especially when paired with Lance or Shatter was incredible to use against mobs of strong-ish enemies, like the Fanatics in the Templar encounter in the Vault of Glass. The entire place would just light up and the surprised shouts of my teammates only added to the satisfaction. Even the melee was a surprisingly rewarding "oh crap" button.

Even with all the other annoying stuff in D2, I feel like if I was actually allowed to experiment with unconventional builds like the "Lightshow" build above, I'd play the game soooo much more than I do now, and maybe even start playing on PC.

.

Just my two cents

Edit - Woah. Top post! Thank you!

Destiny and Social Features: It's time for change

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 11:24 AM PDT

Everyday there is a new post urging the implementation of social features. (See https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/7aqpt6/daily_reminder_we_need_better_social_features/).

However, I don't think this is going to be enough. There is a strong and philosophical push by Destiny 2's Social Lead, M.E. Chung, to prevent these features from being implemented. As repeatedly stated on this sub, M.E. Chung was bullied in Counter-Strike. Consequently, she has sought to eliminate any potential avenue of toxicity from Destiny as a result. Moreover, she believes that the gaming community as a whole is toxic (see link to post below for proof).

The lack of social utility is a severe detriment to Destiny 2. I understand their reasoning for the lack of text chat in D1 (although disagreed). However, with the introduction of Destiny to PC, coupled with keyboard support on consoles, there is no reason to hinder an entire community of gamers because of one person's bad experience.

This is by far, if not the biggest issue for me with this game, and will prevent me from continuing with this game until it is resolved. We can't talk to people. We can't help other guardians out. We can't find groups unless we open up a separate window to go to destinytracker/reddit (how is this any different than typing in the game, except causing an inconvenience to the player?). This is ridiculous and unacceptable.

While I do not want to advocate the termination of any person from their job, and I am sure Ms. Chung has provided valuable assistance with the development of the Destiny series…enough is enough. There have been posts about this for years. NOTHING has changed. That makes me believe that Ms. Chung is the reason behind this, especially after her public statements. (See http://business.financialpost.com/technology/gaming/destiny-2-social-lead-m-e-chung-on-how-bungie-used-a-super-bowl-ring-philosophy-to-balance-community).

I think it is necessary for the players of this community to demand that M.E. Chung be replaced or transitioned. I know this is drastic, but this has gone on for years, and if Bungie hasn't answered our requests for improved social features, I don't think they will anytime soon. Clearly, Ms. Chung strongly believes in the current path she has taken with Destiny 2's social features (or, lack thereof). Maybe this will grab Ms. Chung's attention and she will reevaluate her position. It is a struggle to make such a strong suggestion, and I do not wish to see her fired. Ultimately, if Ms. Chung or Bungie cannot see the detrimental impact of lacking basis social features has on this game, we need to go straight to the source of the problem (M.E. Chung), rather than "daily posts insisting better social features."

Any comments/suggestions are appreciated.

Bungie, make me want to log in EVERYDAY!

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 09:26 AM PDT

Definitely not a rant post and love the game, but please make me want to log in everyday! After milestones and raid are done weekly, some people get turned off and don't have a 'reason' to log in and play. Do something to make it worthwhile to log in everyday!

Suggestions:

  • Make a daily login reward such as getting a fireteam medallion, 10x rep tokens, resource booster (4hr +credits, XP, or drop-rate), etc... and then something special at 25 | 50 | 75 | 100 login days.
  • Warframe has what they call daily sorties. It's a combination of three missions that progressively get harder, then at the end, a huge loot pool, with a chance of a rare 'riven' mod, which is their top-tier weapon mods. Why not have something like this?

Why not have us replay the story missions for a daily loot system? They can have us play three random missions, which the last mission could be equivalent to normal or prestige NF difficulty w/ modifiers. Lots of us are already asking the ability to replay the story so this is perfect - and at a higher difficulty! Or, it can be parts of a strike...

Once you complete the 'daily' progressive mission/milestone, then you are rewarded with your prize. The loot can range from legendary to powerful gear, exotic sparrow/ships, unique mods such as +5 to cabal or fallen or +% crit dmg, unique shaders, etc.

Example Daily Mission

This should be ENDGAME content, geared for all types of endgame players including those who like to solo and not raid w/ six

  • Queue up for the daily mission - Fireteam of 3. Matchmaking or SOLO
  • NO TIMER - this allows those who like to solo, to solo :)
  • Loot is rewarded after the third mission is completed
Mission Name Modifiers
1 [Hard Mode] Homecoming Mission Void Burn - No Grenades - Enemies have higher shield
2 [Normal Nightfall Mode] Cabal Excavation Event No Burn - 3 ships - Ships have shield
3 [Prestige Nightfall Mode] Arms Dealer (Last part - Braccus Zahn fight only) Arc Burn - No Power weapons allowed

Loot Examples:

  • Powerful/Exotic engrams
  • Unique Weapon mods +5 cabal/fallen dmg; +5 crit dmg; + fire rate, etc.
  • Exotic ships/sparrows/shaders

The game is wonderful but the potential is endless!

Edit - added daily mission example

I hate myself for it but seeing New Players talk about the Raid makes want to go "you should have seen in D1.."

Posted: 03 Nov 2017 10:34 PM PDT

I'm not trying to knock the Leviathan, it's a solid raid.

I just feel like there's not as many awe-inspiring moments. Or like a certain feeling of "bigness" is missing that's there in, say, the Vault of Glass, King's Fall and Wrath of the Machine

I think it's a scale thing. While the Leviathan itself is huge all the encounters feel very compact, and there's no epic bosses anywhere

Anyways mostly posting this for myself so when I see all these massively upvoted posts about how amazing raiding is I can be like "don't be that guy that writes that comment.. you're good man, you made a whole shitpost about it"

Edit: I wish there was an easy way for people to go back and do the old raids

[PC] Error code buffalo, keep getting: "You must restart the application using Blizzard's Battle.net app in order to play Destiny 2."

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 12:52 PM PDT

This happens either when i'm playing, after which I have to exit Destiny 2, or restarting the app and logging in for the first time. Anyone else experiencing this? Seems to be battle.net issues?

Edit: I am starting Destiny 2 from Battle.net app :/

Edit 2: Seems like it's happening to some people in SoCal, based on a few examples of anecdotal evidence. Blizzcon is also in SoCal...hmm

Destiny 2 API, stat definitions, and a gift I want to give you all

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 10:01 AM PDT

Short and sweet, I want to make available an advertisment free and well-design Xur tracker. Oh, how original I hear you all say. What if I added historical Xur stats? Getting better... Actually that's all I have right now because my head is a lead weight right now while I try my best to get my ahead around computed and raw stats and how interpolation comes into all this.

You may have noticed that in some places, particularly Bungie.net, you'll find that stat bars are either not present or don't match what you see in game. That's because the max value for each stat isn't always 100.

I want to reflect the in-game min and max values on this little doohicky I'm working on. Screenshot of progress below, followed by a screenshot of the relevant DestinyStatGroupDefinition with various statHashes. I've accomplished what you see in less than 12 hours. I hate ads and love Destiny.

https://imgur.com/a/36Jfl

I know for a fact that I am not alone in my skillset and that many of you exceed mine so help me please! haha

Example

Graviton Lance has a Stability stat of 100%, or as per the API, 91.

The StatGroupDefinition for Stability specifies that a value 0 has a weight of 10 and a value of 100 has a weight of 100.

Is Bungie afraid of banning players who DDos because of the recent player drop quantity?

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 07:37 AM PDT

Could it be possible that because of the state Destiny 2's player quantity is in, Bungie only wants to deliver temporary bans and not permanent bans to players who DDos out of fear of losing more active players from their already currently-shrinking player base?

It makes some sense, but that damages the integrity of the game and developers who make it for me. I'm not sure about you guys, but just because Bungie made Halo doesn't grant them a free pass for anything. They still should be proving to us - their community who has stuck around for years - and to the gaming community that they're still worth their salt. They are creative, inspirational, and worth investing in, but they're still making this game as though it were released in 2013 and not 2017.

The fact that Destiny 1 essentially had their studio split into the Live Team and the Dev Team, and the Dev Team didn't take the Live Team's successes and implement them at launch is unacceptable. Also, the fact that they have finished content or close-to-finished content and are time-gating that content is unacceptable. Let players be overwhelmed and don't treat them like they know nothing because we know that you're essentially allowing DDosers to continue their criminal ways, and I'm not sure if I really want to stick around and sweat through Trials only to have our attempts be falsified and ruined by these cheaters. I don't need to go Flawless, but my friends do and if this game has a predominant focus on the Friendgame, then this is harming the Friendgame.

GeForceNow Makes Case Even Stronger for Cross-Save

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 07:52 AM PDT

Me, I have an XB1. I almost considered investing in a PC rig while D2 was a hype-dream, but it made no sense to spend so much. So instead I'm looking forward to my XB1X Scorpio Edition in a few days...

Enter, GeForce NOW. This is opening access to D2's amazing 4k 60fps to a whole new section of consumers, including me. My 13" 2017 MBP will be able to run D2 at 4K 60fps on my 4K TV or monitor. The range of machines that could do this is quite generous. But... buying the game again, if needing to maintain 2 separate instances of the game for character progression and loot collection? The game takes up enough time on just one platform, I can't justify two.

If cross-save existed? Purchasing another copy of D2 would be a no-brainer. I'd do it in a heartbeat. I think there are many other D2 players who would do the same, either who already have powerful PC rigs or could take advantage of GeForce NOW. As if it wasn't obvious enough how amazing cross-save would be for the community, Activision can't lose with cross-save. It guarantees additional sales of the game. It's WIN-WIN.

Bungie, why isn't cross-save a thing yet...?

EDIT: To avoid any confusion, cross-save and cross-play are not the same thing. Cross-save is NOT about playing across platforms (PS vs MS vs PC in the same PvP match, this would be "cross-play"). Cross-save is just about using the same character with saved progression, when playing on a different platform. Then having whatever progress you made saved, to continue where left off on whichever platform the game is loaded up on. Like having any cloud-based app that syncs across any platform you access it on.

Can someone enlighten me why the patch hasn't been reverted with all the stuttering?

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 03:09 AM PDT

I'm actually baffled as we had a game that worked absolutely fine and is now broken.

I get that in code a million things can go wrong which begs the question that is in the title.

It really is borderline unplayable at this moment.
