Hello hello, it's our favorite day of the week once more! Welcome to this week's special edition Free Talk Friday thread - the World Finals edition! Hope you've all had a great week <3

The biggest match of the year - the 2017 World Finals - is on in a few short hours! Samsung Galaxy take on SK Telecom T1 in what's sure to be an explosive series! Will SKT pick up their fourth Championship title, or will Samsung have their revenge and take down the reigning champs? Only time will tell!

Looking at the tournament as a whole, we've had some awesome games all through the bracket, group and play in stages. Is there a particular moment that you enjoyed? Something you thought was hilarious? Let's hear it!

For those of you that weren't around for/didn't pay attention to the old lore the original idea was that IP represented your influence (hence influence points) as a summoner.

When you spent IP to unlock a champion that was you using your influence to advance whatever their goals were in exchange for getting to summon them in League battles.

Now that IP is going away there will be a final count of which champions got the most influence. I assume it's going to be an old, popular champion that at least originally costed 6300, but there are a number of those. It might be possible to work it out from champion popularity but given that free week champs wouldn't count I'm not sure how accurate that would be.

Title. I had to reinstall my client a few times recently and this stuff just violently earrapes me every goddamn time. Even with my windows sound level on 20/100. Maybe wouldnt be a bad idea to default that to much lower value. Is there a club of earrape victims I can join?

New rune idea - I call it "Sit the fuck down". Increases stuns duration on champions who have recently dashed or blinked

Yes, I did just watch the new champion preview. But I've been thinking about this for a long time.

It's not a secret mobile champions are frustrating to deal with, champs like kassadin, rakan, yasuo, zed, ahri, and lee sin seemingly have a million blinks in addition to flash can make it really hard to pin them down. If you play someone like brand into ahri, you have to constantly try to bait out her dashes (which delays your damage) while she is flying all over the place. The primary frustration for me when playing against these champions is they have all the 1v1 decision making power. They decide when to go in on you, they can decide to escape, and they nearly always have a way to dodge your cc.

Even when you stun them, or land an ability on them, they often have more mobility to get out of that tight spot.

Mobility is certainly high reward, but I'd like to see some high risk accommodate that. A rune, and item, a anything.

Thats where sit the fuck down rune comes in. Hitting CC on a champion who has recently dashed, flashed, or blinked increases the CC length by X%. Could work as a 20 second per champ Cooldown(like udyr stun). I could see this sitting as one of the final level runes in the new resolve tree.

This would obviously require a fairly major mobility rework, and I'd love to see that. If these things were introduced, we'd likely have to buff some champs to compensate.

EDIT: I'm not trying to ruin mobile champions, I understand if we implemented something like this it would require a pretty major balance update. I'm just trying to propose a potential solution to how frustrating some of these matchups feel.

Its funny seeing people over react at the new champion being able to flash multiple times

Imagine if the new champion was kassadin and in the trailer hes rift walking from his red buff across walls all the way to the enemy red buff in like 5 seconds. Everyone would be saying "holy shit thats overpowered!" but then its like you have to take into consideration his overall kit and when you do you realize its not overpowered at all...People freaking out over a small teaser. Hold the pitchforks until we see the full kit atleast

Season 2017 End / Pre-Season Guide

What is actually happening?

This pre-season IP will be converted to Blue Essence, any Blue Essence (BE) you currently have will be multiplied by 6.5, IP will be converted 1-to-1. Anything you can currently buy with IP you can still buy, just with BE instead. There will also be a special BE-Shop, where you can buy exclusive stuff.

Runes will get a huge update - combining them with Masteries. Any Runes you have bought before Season 2017 will receive a partial refund, while Runes bought in Season 2017 will receive a full refund (before the current Rune Sale).

You'll also earn Ranked Rewards based on your rank.

When does this Season end?

Season 2017 ends November 7th 23:59 Server Time, to see a timer click EUW/EUNE / NA

What to do before Pre-Season hits live

  • Calculate how much BE you'll have using my Google-Sheet / direct copy link - it also allows you to "shop" in the BE Store :)

  • Disenchant any Champ and Skin Shards you don't need / want - their Value gets nerfed from 33% of RP-Price to 20%

  • Buy Champion Shards with your remaining IP & disenchant or reroll them - on average you gain +8.4% BE if you disenchant them, though rerolling can be more efficient (see below)

  • If you have any left over World Tokens you can't use for anything else buy Blue Essence with them

  • Rerolling Champion Shards will be removed with Pre-Season - reroll 450 IP / 1350 IP Champion Shards if you don't have every Champion yet (buy cheap ones before so you cannot get them from it) - there however will be "Mystery Champions" for 3950 BE in the BE Shop (if you have at least 10 unowned Champions), so rerolling more expensive ones is not worth it!

What you'll get when Pre-Season hits live

  • Ranked Rewards

    • Loading Screen Border (based on Rank) - Silver+
    • Profile Insignia (based on Rank) - Bronze+
    • Icon (based on Rank & Queue) - Bronze+
    • Victorious Graves - Gold+
    • Victorious Graves Chromas (based on Queue) - Gold+
    • Victorious Ward Skin - Silver+ in 2 Queues
  • Disqualification from Ranked Rewards

    • 7+ day ban after August 22nd 23:59 (not fraud or account recovery related bans or bans that got undone)
    • active Chat Restriction when Season 2017 ends
  • Rune Veteran Rewards (Calculate if you're eligible here)

    • Rune Enthusiast Ward Skin - 125k+ IP spent on Runes + Rune pages or Special Legacy Rune
    • Icon - Special Legacy Rune
    • Random 1350 RP Skin - Every 4 Runepages (rounding up) bought with RP
  • Time Spent Rewards

    • Defender of the League Emote - 500h played
    • Champion of the League Emote - 1500h played
    • Conqueror of the League Emote - 2500h played
  • Honor Rewards

    • Honor Ward (based on Honor level) - lvl 3+

Pre-Season changes

  • Level Cap has been removed
    • You will still unlock Ranked at level 30
    • When reaching milestones you'll get exclusive stuff - Emotes, Ward-Skins, maybe even a Skin (no information yet)
    • You won't get any BE after a game, you'll instead get XP and by leveling up you earn a "Leveling-Chest" that contains Champion Shards (BE gain should stay the same)
    • Mystery Champions will be sold occasionally (3950 BE) (You'll need 10+ unowned Champions)
  • Hextech Crafting
    • Chests can now drop 2 Items
    • You can have a unlocked Chest in a Chest
    • Bad Luck Protection (BLP) has been added for Skin Shards and Gemstones
    • Mastery 6 / 7 have their BE price adjusted as well - 3250 BE for M6 / 3900 BE for M7
    • The list of Champions you've already earned a Chest with will be reset - OTPs you can once again get your Chest per Season :P
  • Runes Reforged
    • Runes are now combined with Masteries, thus their effects are also more like Masteries
    • Runes are now free
    • Pre-level 8 you will have default Runepages for every Champion
    • You will still only have 2 Runepages + any you bought / buy
    • You can adjust Runes during Champion Selection

Blue Essence Shop

  • The Blue Essence shop allows you to buy (exclusive) stuff for BE, some things costing quite a lot
  • Full list of items & prices can be found here or using my Google-Sheet that also allows you to "shop" and has Screenshots of the items :)
    (Note: The "Rune Ward" listed by Riot may be an error - there is no such Ward on PBE and the "Rune Enthusiast Ward" is obtained by having spent 125k+ IP on Runes)
  • Will probably be back every year with at least the unique Stuff being available again

Edit: Added direct copy link - this should work if you for some reason cannot copy the File the other way :)

Why does missing health on the health bar update so late now?

If you've played the game within the last week or so since the patch you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. You click on the minimap, look at a champion, and bam they lose half their health because the health bar didn't update until you moved your screen onto them. Happens with champions, turrets, whatever. It's fucking annoying.

Would kindred not be more balanced if Wolf spawned two marks on camps at a time? - one in each side of the jungle

TL;DR Having wolf spawn camps in your own jungle will do a few things: Give kindred a baseline state where she only farms her own jungle and gets her own camps, prevent location tracking due to the mark's placement, and make it fun for the opponent to counter jungle you.

Shutting down kindred should be proactive, not reactive You should have to go out of your way to shut them down like every other champion, not just farm your jungle like normal.

Right now it seems that Kindred falls hard into the feast or famine state, and can't be used in high elo's because of the mark system. I think having wolf spawn marks on two camps at once would solve a lot of those issues. Obviously the value of Wolf's mark would have to be adjusted, say only half what kindred's mark on champions give.

First off, it would make Kindred much more reliable. Currently, if you are playing against jungler who is better than you, you are screwed; more so than if you were playing a more reliable jungler. Your opponent will deny you all of wolf's marks, leaving you weak and under-powered, thus making it much harder to get the stacks on champions. Having marks in your jungle would let kindred survive in games when they can't counter jungle successfully. Even if Wolf's mark loses a bit of value, you should be able to reliably collect more camps than before, so that if you stay in your own jungle you are ok. Not powerful, not weak, just ok.

It would also solve the issue of tracking kindred because of her mark placement. Having two marks at a time would introduce doubt; is kindred counter jungling or just farming their own jungle? Should you counter jungle them and steal a camp, or do you go to your jungle and protect your camps?

Finally, as I've mentioned already, it would give your opponent the incentive to counter jungle you. Riot is all about making champions fun to play against, and this will give junglers on both teams a game to play with each other. Rather than just defending your own jungle, when playing against kindred you can counter jungle them and steal from death. Way more interesting and fun than defending your own jungle.

Edit: To be clear, this isn't supposed to give Kindred any more power. If you double the amount of wolf marks, but reduce the value of each by half, you end with the same power value. A good Kindred player who already got every mark possible should still be able to do so, and will still end up being just as powerful. However a new Kindred player, or someone just trying out the jungle, should be able to reliably get a few marks and not end up useless come late game
