Really, new mechanic will have the side walls destroyed as their attached gate+towers get down.

The walls are very strategic in the game right now, letting you get a kill or escape from one with so many different heroes, not to mention the vision that so many players ignore when rotating...

Walls make plays! Please save them to preserve many engaging interactions.

I main Illidan. He's an extremely engaging hero because of his ability to dance around the battlefield. I was truly saddened when I found out that walls are planned to be destroyed when you destroy a gate.

I found out about this in this thread.

Here's an amazing play Fan once made with a leftover wall. This was the play that inspired me to play Illidan. I saw the hero's deep potential for playmaking ability.

Now take a moment to realize that in the planned change to the game, this most beautiful of playmaking, that for me epitomizes the fun of Heroes of the Storm, will not be possible.

I've made awesome escapes with walls too. These feel really rewarding to pull off.

Here's another crazy escape I made with walls.

Walls were fundamental to this play.

Walls are vital for dodging abilities.

I use walls to escape ALL THE TIME. It's such a core part of Illidan's gameplay that I have the following text on my clipboard whenever I enter HL: Save walls please :illicool: they save me!

Walls are valuable because you can pick fights around a wall with the certainty that you will be able to escape. If you don't think that's valuable, let's just say, I'd rather have walls instead of The Hunt. They are THAT valuable. Walls are like extra Metamorphoses – free guaranteed survivals. There are so many fights I would simply not take if a wall wasn't around.

Yes, I'm not kidding. The Hunt is a heroic I pick in only maybe 1% of games. When you get better at Illidan you realize you make a bigger impact by not solo laning all the time, but actually forcing team fights constantly.

With walls around, there's a whole extra layer of depth to Illidan's Dive. It's like having another Friend or Foe (ally hero dive) talent, but for structures. You may argue, walls aren't removed from the game. But it's very rare that diving a wall with a slowing fort on the other side is worth it.

Here's a poll... let's compile our opinions. Please respond with why, if your vote is negatory.

If you haven't made a play like this before, I can tell you it's one of the very most satisfying experiences in this game. The planned change would be removing fun.

EDIT: While the amazing escapes are rare gems, in general using leftover walls as planned escape routes is very common by the way. I just played a game and made sure to count. I disengaged with a wall in this fashion 3 times total. I also engaged with a wall twice. This is more crucial than my ability to mount.

Also this is less significant to me, but it's worth mentioning that when all that remains of a fort are the debris and a couple of walls, it feels more real like the ruins of a fort. Like a legacy that a fort used to be there. From a purely design/aesthetic perspective, walls are a nice touch.

There's a lot more to walls as well, such as vision, lifesteal, stacking, etc. with all heroes in the game being affected in some way. It's a layer to the game that I don't want to see reduced. In this post I mostly wanted to share my own experiences with walls and how for Illidan in particular they are so core to his gameplay.

Devs, please bring Jaina's new WoW model (and skin) into HotS!

Jaina just got a huge upgrade to her character model in WoW, one that's brought her from looking fairly generic to something more unique. I've long felt that her model in Heroes of the Storm suffers from the same problem (to a slightly lesser degree) too, she always seemed less detailed than most other characters, certainly the newer ones. Her face always looked kinda plain while many others are full of distinct detail.

Many of the older character models are going to need to be updated sooner or later anyway (*cough* Arthas *cough*), and you're going to have to fix those f***ed up fingers sooner rather than later too, so why not go all in for the full overhaul now that the WoW team has given you this new gift.

Oh, and "Kul Tiras Jaina" needs to be a skin. Please and thank you. <3

Honestly everything I've hoped for in an eSports event. The analysis desk, the casters and slightly cringey announcer was amazing to watch. It had passion written all over it

Another amazing part was the "behind the scenes" videos (Oracle videos) which made me feel connected to the players from a very ground level, which was amazing because throughout the entire thing, I said to myself: That could be me. And I've only been playing for like half a year, but I've never been this excited to get back to playing and improving. Truly well done to Blizzard for the entire event. I honestly can't wait for 2018 and beyond.

Q: Will stitches hook/ Artanis Throw be able to put heroes in your wall like garrosh?

A: Garrosh throws you, not pulls you threw the wall. Does not make since to make them hit an invisible wall.

Q: When I use Hanzo's Q Abilitiy I have to press it again to activate it, is this intentional?

A: Yes, but we are working on a version where you just have to press and release it.

Q: If Mcree was introduced to Heroes, would you remove his cigar? If not would you give tychus back his cigar?

A: Yes, we will give tychus mcrees cigar.

Q: whats your favorite talent for all of the new heroes?

A: Alexstraza's E talent at 20 applys Flame buffet to all heroes. Hanzo talent Mounted Archery lets him instantly mount.

Q: How do you decide which heroes get added into heroes of the storm.

A: We have a list of about 180 heroes of awesome heroes and characters of blizzard games. We check out all of the community polls and lists, we also check what rolls hots needs.

Q: Arthas and Uther Model Changes coming??

A: We are happy with the size of them, but to answer your question, what we would like to do is make their height be equivalent. We are looking into this, its just a matter of when.

Q: Tyreal feels stale and his mana costs are way higher than a lot of newer character and I was wondering if you were looking at any changes for him

A: You want lower mana costs? Ok.

Q: Are you planning on changing classes in any way?

A: We would like to get to this, its just a matter of when.

Q: Will you make chen playable

A: I dont know if were planning on making any changes right now, but were always continuing to watch to see if we need to make any changes.

Q: How will the stealth rework work with certain talents?

A: All heroes will be using the stealth shaders, if they are stealthed.

Q: Will we be able to pick from more than just 3 heroes in the brawl?

A: We would love to hear more from you, so post stuff like this on forums. We are always listening to players on the forums.

Q: You cant see where alexstraza lands when she uses her second heroic, is this a bug or a balance thing?

A: No (?)

Q: More multiclass heroes coming?

A: We are actively discuissing these on the team and watching carbot videos.

Q: Will TLV be getting changes anytime soon and will more older heroes be coming.

A: We are ok with what vikings does right now, but its just a matter of when not if. To answer your second question, I would like to see blackthrone, Its a mattter of when not if.

Q: Are there any medivh portal changes coming?

A: We are aware of the problem with people not knowing how to click on the portals, were looking into ways with changes this without breaking Esports.

RIP - Teased Heroes features that died this year

Last year at Blizzcon these were some of the features that we were teased with:

Revealed on the Chu8 Blizzcon stream, when a wall has the connected tower & gate destroyed, the wall will be destroyed.

Samuro changes heard from Chu stream (Kent Erik)

He can swap with his clones baseline (no control over clones) with longer cd, buffed by Illusion master. He also has control over his Q placement (sam appears where ur cursor is). His dmg is also moved a bit from his clones to himself so his gameplay will revolve around swapping (and opponents are rewarded for pinpointing his real position) more. They are also considering that his clones not giving hero quests (still testing).

I know it's doesn't have anything to do with our game itself but Heroes' playerbase has been growing tremendously since the launch of 2.0 and I really think Blizzard cares about the game more than ever.

Of course there are Reddit, YouTube and Twitter but they're all formal. Instagram is the easiest way to access photos, short videos and most importantly, stories. With that in mind, I really hope to see an Instagram page for Heroes. Silly hero statues, photos of the Heroes team, office photos etc. All that unique content.

Just check other Blizzard accounts below and you'll see what I mean.

Under which distance is it faster to walk than to mount at 100% walk speed and 120% mount speed?

Title. Also assuming the default mount up time. Just wanna know this pretty bad since I feel I could utilize this in-game in certain situations like short distance chases after a teamfight.

EDIT2: Thank you to everyone, and to u/_Hubris for the graph which pinpoints the exact time which is around ~4 1/3 seconds at which when both types of movement start they travel the same distance.

So I tested this in game and this was just millimetres from completing a full screen left to right (and vice-versa) on the same point of y-axis using Azmo and Murky. (I'm using 1920 x 1080p, this and above which are the standard for Hots) This post confirmed for me that for me mounting short distances was a habit for me.

I was needlessly mounting short distances from fort towers to fountain and dying to dot damage when I could have lived so many dam times if I just walked. This change will surely save me some clutch wins.
