2.6.1 Corpse Explosion 95+Push/Speed GR75/TXIII

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 09:47 AM PDT

Hey all! Saythe here! Who doesn't love corpse explosion!?

Here are a couple videos showcasing some corpse explosion variations I created with with the updated Inarius set and changes to the Golemskin Breeches introduced in patch 2.6.1. I've been able to accomplish a GR 100 with this build so far, but I have the most fun blasting my way through normal and greater rifts in 2:30-3:00 minutes. While it may not be as potent and fast as the Rathma Mages speed, it's not far behind! I find this extremely enjoyable to play, especially if you enjoy corpse explosion!

Diablo 3 Patches RECAP

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 03:08 AM PDT

After the huge patches introducing Legendary Gems, Seasons and Kanai's Cube, we've had several nice patches. Let us recall them:

2.4 January 2016

  • LoN

  • New items & reworked sets

  • 2 new zones

  • Set Dungeons

  • New stash tab

2.4.1 April 2016

  • Pets

  • Legendary gem adjusting

2.4.2 August 2016

  • T11-T13 added

  • Topaz in the helm rework

2.4.3 January 2017

  • D1 Event

  • DirectX 11

  • New item each class

2.5 March 2017

  • Armory

  • Material tab

  • Dye tab

  • Primal Ancients

2.6 June 2017

  • Necro

  • Challenge Rifts

  • 2 new zones

2.6.1 October 2017

  • The greatest balance patch so far

So each season there has been always something. Interesting to see what there is for S13: 2.6.2 / 2.7 or nothing. I guess we should know somewhere during December if there's going to be PTR.

I mentioned Topaz rework because that kind of changes are important.

[FanFiction]Diablo 3 What's Next Panel Summary

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 08:13 AM PDT

  • 2017 Re-cap
The release of Necromancer class was very successful.
The Darkening of Tristram event brought people back to Diablo's roots.
Season 12 will be the most balanced and diverse patch.

  • Looking Ahead
Previously the team was focused on the release of the Necromancer.
The team now will continue working on balance and rework some of the existing legendary items. Meanwhile, they are pushing new game modes and system changes.
No new legendary items or class are currently planned since massive amounts of concurrent changes can disrupt the balance and diversity of builds.

  • Boss matters
Boss farming were a huge fantasy during Diablo 2.
With increasing player power, story bosses become obsolete.
Greater Rift as the ultimate end game mode are sometimes too repetitive.
The designers decide to fire the Greater Rift up a little bit.
Players now can talk to Orek in town to enable/disable Boss Rift in Greater Rift.
Boss Rifts are Greater Rifts where players are teleported to a boss room to fight the boss at a higher difficulty.
Bosses include Butcher, Beliel, Azmodan, Diablo, and Malthael.
The team are working to expand the roster with some iconic boss figures in the Diablo history. More detail will reveal in the future.
Boss Rifts are 5 level higher than your chosen Greater Rift level.
Boss Rifts appears at a random chance and have a timer of 15 minutes. Boss Rifts rewards 5 times more experience than Greater Rift upon completion and grants 10 gem upgrade chance upon successful completion. The team call it the Goblin Army of Greater Rift.

  • Nephalem Warfare
Players often find Bounty farming boring and dull, and the Diablo team is looking for a way to make the experience more engaging.
This is a Community Event style game mode that will replace the current Bounty system.
The idea was inspired by Legion Invasion events in WoW.
With the Black Soul stone shattered, the forces of Evil once again roams around the lands of Sanctuary.
During the event, players can choose to champion the cause and complete various different objectives in a themed rift to contribute Warfare Points.
One Warfare Rift can contain multiple objectives like: escort, capture points, monster slaughter, boss hunting, defend and more. After the entire community reach a certain number of total Warfare Points, the system will declare victory for the players.
If there are not enough Warfare points when the time depletes, players will lose the Battle.
Players will gain a base reward depending on their contribution regardless of winning or losing.
Winning the Battle will provide bonus reward and unlock the next stage. Participate in Nephalem Warfare will also give players Reputation.

  • Challenge Rift Revamp
Challenge Rift was first introduced as the Diablo 3 version of Tavern Brawl.
Players often find playing a suboptimal build frustrating.
The team decides to embrace the Brawl spirit and do something more fun or crazy.
"Sanctuary Got Butcher": Players are given The Butcher's Sickle with 100% proc chance and lowered cooldown. Hook enemies into the fire pit to win the game!
"Nek Deep in Trouble": Nek the Brawler's fighting pit has gone bankcrupt without any fighters. Now, get in there and cause some carnage!
    More modes are coming.

  • Reputation and In-game Shop
Reputation can be leveled up through Nephalem Warfare.
Reputation has no cap, and each level takes the same amount of Reputation.
Upon leveling up, player will receive a loot box containing cosmetic items like Wings, Pets, Banners, Weapon and Armor skins, or even the Necromancer Class.
Repeat item will turn into Platinum Ingot; Players can use Platinum Ingot to forge cosmetics.
Loot Boxes can also be purchased through the in-game store. More details next January.

  • Voice Chat
Voice Chat integration will be available earlier next year.
Players can choose opt in/out of voice chat upon joining public games.
The default option is off; players can toggle it through the options menu.

  • Community
Diablo 3 Communities and Clans are now connected to Battle.net groups.
Each Community and Clan will also have voice chat integration.
Joining a Community or a Clan in Diablo 3 will also place your battle.net account into the corresponding social group.

No D3 coverage at Blizzcon but...

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 02:48 PM PDT

It's disappointing, but I feel like that's not necessarily a bad thing. If there's nothing announced or talked about, then they're simply not ready to talk about or announce anything. I get that's a bit of a tautology but hear me out.

This is pure speculation, but if you consider the kind of content the other games are getting, they're all little tidbits, dlc, skins etc. (with the exception of the semi-annual WoW expansion). These games are all getting regular content without any major projects announced (no WoW2, sc3, warcraft 4 etc.) because the focus is on development for these games as they are, and any new major projects are quite far off.

This makes me think that there is something big in the works for the franchise that they're simply not ready to talk about yet. They have very little reason to continue the D3 development past the typical season additions, and that appears to be well-reflected at this year's blizzcon. On the other hand, there is every reason to work on a new game, which, if it's not ready to show... then the platitude is worth noting: it's not ready to be announced yet.

Necro: Solo massacre leveling method

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 01:01 PM PDT

Thought I'd share what I've found to be pretty effective.

Skills: https://www.d3planner.com/360136885

Use challenge reward to gamble for Grasps of Essence. The idea is to get a couple corpses on the ground using Bone Spear and then blow up everything using Corpse Explosion. Use Bone Spikes to keep the chain alive between packs by either kiting from behind or tagging ahead. Skeletons seem to help but I haven't tried it without them. The 4th skill is kind of open but I use Bone Armor because you need good damage mitigation. You have enough damage to do Torment I or II most of the time between Level 16 and ~40 if you can stay alive. The Grisly Tribute passive depends on getting a LpH level 70 weapon. Without LpH use Rigor Mortis, Stand Alone, Swift Harvesting or Serration.

Make sure you craft enough weapons so that you don't reach a level where one would be available while you're massacring but you don't have it. E.g. if you're in town at level 28 go ahead and craft a 29, 33, and 37 to keep with you. Alternatively you could craft them all at start.

Start with Zoltan Kulle bounty on master w/ the follower weapon. Make sure you have a level 5 2H scythe and a level 8 2H axe. Get the cube doing massacres. Ruins of Sescheron is good for massacre, Elder Sanctum is GG. The maggot broods/rat kings in the Sanctum are perfect for corpse explosion. You want to be on a high enough difficulty that the broods don't die easily and keep spewing maggots. The chest event before the cube and blue maggot broods are common enough that at least one will show up on most runs.

Should be Level 12 or so after getting the cube. Buy damage jewelry. Make sure you have your Grasps of Essence and a Level 16 2H axe ready and do HoA3. If Butcher is a bounty lower difficulty and kill him. (This build is not good for single target, either change up a couple skills or lower diff so you can kill w/ Bone Spear).

Should be at least Level 16, remake starting on TII. Repeat these two maps the rest of the way. If you're taking too much damage in Ruins of Sescheron run to Elder Sanctum. If you're taking too much damage in the Sanctum lower level.

Try to keep your armor up to level with drops and by checking nearby vendors when you're in town. Blood shards are also good for getting a specific yellow piece.

Rule of thumb: With a level 70 weapon and halfway decent armor you can try t6 at level 40 and drop one torment every 5 levels roughly.

I tried Fields of Misery but I felt like the packs were too far apart most of the time and it was quicker just to remake and do the other 2 maps. I keep an eye out for Cursed Peat as a bounty, it's probably good but I haven't seen it yet. Sometimes the other area adjacent to Sescheron will have a cursed chest bounty. There's a lot of density here and it can be good but only if you are very strong for your level. Most of the time it will be better just to go to the maggot broods.

I've done 2 runs to 70 w/ times of 100 and 110 minutes. I got lucky with level 70 weapons and they had 25+ level reduction. The 100 min run I crafted a few pieces of armor at level 61 but that may not be possible depending on how many yellow mats you pick and how many you spend on the level 70 weapon. Not sure how much not having Grasps of Essence would slow the time down if Kadala screws you, could be a lot.

So I bought D3 and RoS last night

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 07:14 PM PDT

I've never really played Diablo before. I dabbled in D2 but total I probably had less than an hour ever played.

Bought it last night since all of my friends were all about it and getting into it.

So far they power leveled my Monk which kind of made the game boring for me since I couldn't do anything without dying and I had to stand still.

I decided to make a new character (mage?) to get the hang of the UI and mechanics which is much more fun at the moment.

Question -- Should I keep my Monk and just learn to play it (since it's the class I really want to play) or should I just delete it and start over? I'm at paragon 150 or something already. Is that good for maybe an hour played? Where should I go to get more paragon levels without getting 1 shot?

Just got Diablo 2

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 05:43 PM PDT

Huge PoE fan, so I wanted to try diablo 2. Are there any mods that I should get before I start playing? I mean specifically for QoL stuff, not gameplay. Or is there anything else I should know before playing?

Double Goblin event question

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 04:19 PM PDT

Did we ever get an official answer if it was just base treasure goblins or all treasure goblins that will be double?

If it is all goblins what is the best route for goblin farming in 2.6.1? I would like to try and grind some pets.

Tips/tricks for new season?

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 03:29 AM PDT

Last time I played was at RoS launch, so I am sure it's almost a completely new game, especially in regards to strategy.

So far I've seen the following:

  • Kill Leoric in Campaign for his helmet legendary and throw a ruby in it
  • Killing in high density zones while maintaining a high counter is the best leveling experience/hr
  • Doing rifts in a fresh season is better due to getting gear drops

I'm really not sure about builds though, but it seems like getting set pieces and legendaries is pretty damn easy now. Are there certain OP legendary items that are worth gambling for that aren't necessarily end-game but are worth it in new seasons?

Any and all tips/tricks are welcome!

Question about new set balance

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 11:35 AM PDT

Hello everyone, is there any place where one can now find new builds (preferably with guide regarding optimal rolls/runes/alternatives) since laderboards are locked for now. I've heard mixed opinions about Icyveins but that was on another subreddit and their guides are pretty informative & on point. I'm a pretty casual player, probably won't be going further than full Seasonal Journey + GR100.

Classics Interview with PCGamesN: "Warcraft 3 and Diablo 2 remasters have to wait"

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 05:28 AM PDT

Finally got a (terrible) Sacred Harvester - reforge or try to upgrade a better one?

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 10:59 AM PDT

My WD is coming along nicely; I've got the Helltooth set from the season reward, a full Arachyr set with an ancient or 2, a nearly full Zuni set and the Endless Walk set with an ancient Compass Rose - he's tearing through TX / GR45's in ~4-5 mins on a fairly standard Firebat build.

It took probably 250 DB's worth of upgrading ceremonial knives but I finally got a Sacred Harvester - it's not bad I guess, but it's not ancient. Is it worth reforging the one I've got or should I just keep upgrading knives? At TX a rift is giving me ~15 DB's compared to ~2-4 FS's, but there's such a large pool of items that the chances of me getting an ancient Harvester seem slim?
Also should I just use the one I've got for now? It's doing so much less damage than the random ancient weapon I'm currently using...
