I can't believe how incredibly generous and thoughtful you all are. For everyone who donated to me, you make me want to cry. I don't know how to handle this kind of outpouring. I really meant it when I said I don't want to be running a constant fundraiser, but this feels different. Thank you all so much. M2K even messaged me asking if he could help. With all that said, please don't feel like you have to donate to support me. Yes, I've had to do some questionable things with my savings to keep going, but I've always sort of viewed my savings as a way to help achieve my goals. The best thing we can do is celebrate smash history together on release day; get excited about the game that has generated so much hype and so many incredible stories. The Inherent Flaw in the Melee Community Posted: 22 Jun 2017 11:57 AM PDT The past 6 months or so have been, to put it lightly, a tumultuous time for the Melee community. There have been seemingly endless debates on topics including, but not limited to, the Smashbox/B0XX, Wobbling, Arduinos, Ledge Grab Limits, Frozen Stadium, and, most recently, allowing DaShizWiz to participate in tournaments. These arguments get heated and go on for months at a time with little to no resolution. Having this much needless argument is not a good thing for our community. However, the underlying problem we face is that we as a community have no way to come to any sort of conclusive or official decision on these issues. People call for "The TOs" to make decisions, or ask top players to give their reasons to ban/not ban something, but time and time again we have failed to come to a conclusive decision on issues that can and will have a major impact on the community. I've yet to see the community as a whole, or a collection of major TOs, or a large collection of top players, come out with a conclusive decision as to whether or not something should or should not be legal. This is because there is no concept of organized authority in melee. To some extent, Sm4sh has this with 2GG. Coincidentally or not, I haven't seen nearly as much unresolved argument or debate regarding Sm4sh. I think its imperative that Melee devises some way to make concrete decisions on these topics. The inability to do so is detrimental to our game's growth and stops us from adopting changes that are directly beneficial. For example, there are few if any people who don't agree that Frozen Stadium is an objectively fairer and better version of the stage than vanilla stadium. However, the reason it was never adopted is because TOs decided that if not everyone was going to agree to use it, they couldn't use it either. The closest thing I've seen to creating a 'governing body' or 'officiating body' was the TO summit at G4. A group of people like that has the power to shape the future of melee, but I haven't seen a thing about it since then. I'm posting this because I think its important to address how we make decisions as a community, and try to spark conversation as to how we can do better with this in the future. submitted by /u/anthonygraff24 [link] [comments]

Hax Controller Project Update (x-post /r/SSBM) Posted: 21 Jun 2017 10:47 PM PDT Hey guys, its UnclePunch. I've been working closely with Hax, Dan Salvato, TruckJitsu and Jordy over the past couple of days to get Hax's controller modifications working via a memory card mod. This mod includes every one of Hax's initial Arduino changes, and then some. These changes will work for every player, and it only takes one memory card to get the mod up and running for the entire venue. Just plugin, run the exploit, and move onto the next setup. This process should seem familiar to anyone who has run 20XXTE. You can also try out the mod right now with very little hassle if your computer is capable of running Dolphin. The latest Faster Melee BETA (FM v5.5) has the codes included and enabled out of the box. The codes can be enabled/disabled on a per player basis by holding down on the DPad on the character select screen. This beta also marks the first Faster Melee build for Mac since June of last year! It is important to note that this mod only works with v1.02 discs at the moment. An update will be distributed in the future with support for other versions. Posted: 22 Jun 2017 02:23 PM PDT Hey guys, just a heads up that Nairo is hosting his 2nd wifi major in the Naifu Wars series, Naifu Wars: World War #2 tomorrow night. It currently has over 200 entrants and registration ends tomorrow June 23rd at 12pm EST. The tourney will start 7 hours later, at 7pm EST. It'll be streamed live on Nairo's Twitch channel There will be prizes for top 4 placements. The winner will get a flight purchased for EVO 2017, while 2nd, 3rd, and 4th placers will win $75, $50, and $25 respectively. The event will be commentated by Gunblade and Pierce.
