Edit6: 2:05pm I got a notification that PokemonGO tickets were on sale. They've been sold out for a while if looking at the Twitter tweet. Hahahahaha. What a joke.

Edit5: 1:21pm central. Appears tickets are officially sold out.

Edit4: 12:55pm central, Tickets are still available! For those that get in with a short timer, "Continue as guest" will skip creating the account. Takes about a 30s-1min to check out!

Edit3: 12:49pm central, people are still getting in and getting tickets! Keep trying, may take lots of refreshes!

Edit: 12:16pm central, they may be releasing tickets every couple of minutes, keep trying. I got in but it only gave me 25s to checkout. Can't edit the title, tickets are still being sold!

Edit: 12:38pm central, Keep trying! It looks like people are having anywhere between 30 seconds an 8 minutes to check out! The people showing shorter check out timers probably aren't getting notified it's in their cart already.

ALL COMMENTS ABOUT PURCHASING SELLING OR TRADING TICKETS FROM A THIRD PARTY WILL BE REMOVED AND BANNED UNTIL AFTER THE EVENT. INCLUDING POSTS COMPLAINING ABOUT SCALPERS THAT NAME SITES OR LINK TO THEM IN AN EFFORT TO CALL THEM OUT.

We do not support scalping or anything similarly related to it. The only way we as a community can prevent scalping, is to refuse to use their services.

We already have rules in place against selling items via this sub, but given the nature of the tickets for this event we have expanded those rules to clearly cover event tickets.

Given the nature and apparent desperation of users to get tickets, there will be no second chances or warnings concerning this.

There will be a stickied post about this in the future, but the stickies are tied up with official news. This post is made in an effort to remain transparent for future actions.

Megathread - Gym and Raid Update

Summary:

  • Gyms will now also give items like Pokestops.

  • Prestiging has been removed entirely.

  • CP no longer determines the order of battle - it's now "in the order they were assigned to the Gym."

  • A new motivation system has been implemented:

  1. This will decay over time, and is reduced every time it is defeated. When it is reduced, the CP will be lowered so it is easier to defeat. When it reaches zero, it "faints" and returns to the player.

  2. You can treat Pokemon of your team with berries to recover the motivation - not only yours.

  • Gyms now give Gym Badges, unique per gym. You level this by battling, feeding, or spinning in the gym. Higher gym badge level will give you increased items and rewards at said gym.

  • Raid Battle Feature:

  1. You need a Raid Pass to participate. You can get one a day (non-cumulative) in gyms, or buy a pack of premium raid passes.

  2. These involve battling "raid bosses", powerful (AI) Pokemon in gyms, with up to 20 players. If you can defeat it within 5 minutes, you'll have the chance to catch an extra powerful Pokémon of your own!

  • New Items: Obtained only by beating raid bosses, they are:

  1. Rare Candies. See this as a "wildcard" candy - can be changed to any Pokemon's.

  2. Golden Razz Berries. Like Razz Berries, but better.

  3. Technical Machines (Fast/Charged): Permanently teach a Pokemon a new Fast/Charged attack.

So you're in little town USA with just one gym and suddenly a raid opportunity happens at the gym. It's a 30,000 cp Tyranitar but you are all alone and no way you can solo it.

But riding to the rescue are the spoofers, in a few minutes they fill up your attack team 5 3,300 cp Dragonites and together you all take down the boss. Yippee! Special prizes and gym slots for everyone!

I'm just sayin.....

[IDEA] List the infinite incubator first if it is empty. ALWAYS

I cannot tell you how many times I have been trying to scroll to the infinite incubator and the game has mistaken my scrolling for my selecting a purchased incubator as the one I want to incubate an egg. This is very frustrating because I definitely did NOT want to incubate that 2 km egg in an expensive disposable incubator.

It appears anyone who didn't have spawns sometime last year because of mis-tagged OpenStreetMap (OSM) zones, whom fixed that by correcting OSM, have lost their spaws entirely.

Investigating similarly marked zones (CSU Channel Islands vs CSU Chico) show that it isn't just that Niantic decided University Grounds would be filtered out - rather they reverted the filtering to an older, less accurate source

much to the detriment of players on the unfortunate universities/hospitals/etc

Thought it was an important point that was raised and multiple people have been wondering, so thought it deserved its own thread to get people informed. From the megathread:

Great question, reasonableoption. A Pokémon will earn PokéCoins based on how long it defends a Gym. Once its motivation meter is empty and it's defeated in battle, it will return to its Trainer and come back with PokéCoins.

Why I never grinded for the Ace Trainer medal

Let me preface this by saying I'm well aware that it's my fault I didn't finish the Ace Trainer Medal prior to today. I'm just disappointed that now I'll never get the chance to.

Pokemon Go Is a long term game for me. There are at the minimum 5 more generations to be released. With that mindset I've never felt the need to grind for anything. Sometimes I've wanted to for fun, or to reach that next level, but I didn't really ever feel forced to. When it came to the gym medals I figured I'd simply get them over time since I knew I'd be playing this game until it was no longer supported and maybe even after that. So today, I'm both pumped for this new update and disappointed that I'll never be able to complete the game in my eyes. An interesting feeling to say the least.

A bunch of you will see this as me whining, but I also know there are a bunch of you who feel exactly like I do. I don't expect Niantic's stance on this to change at all. At least there's a bunch of new content to be excited about.
