Summer Tychus no new Odin Skin....

Posted: 27 Jun 2017 01:11 PM PDT

This is really garbage in my opinion and my hype for the skin ins now at 0. They did a great job with the zerg odin. Even the legendary skin has base odin meh

New surfboard mounts are Legenary, yet they are shown as Epic on the website.

In this post it shows the surfboard mounts as epic mounts. Yet in game they are all legendary

Would love a Friends Observer mode!

Posted: 27 Jun 2017 05:40 AM PDT

I know there are observer options for other match types. But sometimes I just wanna watch my friends fail in Quick Match.

I don't need all the information in the match... like enemy positions or anything. I just want to watch from my friend's team perspective. Even with like a 30 second delay or something, if its needed to balance voice chat or something.

I know its been posted before... just saying.

New summer bundle kind of sucks for people who pay real money.

Posted: 27 Jun 2017 11:47 AM PDT

TLDR: new shop is too expensive for real money payers. I miss the old 1.0 bundles that let you buy items in bulk, usually at a 50% discount. For now I can no longer justify the cost of bundles. Furthermore If the gem cost of legendary single items arbitrarily goes up beyond 400 gems at some point in the future, I think I will become a pure F2P player. The Saving grace is that 2.0 is so much kinder to pure F2P players since spending money is no longer being rewarded anyways.

Looking at the summer bundle, If you assume that since 2.0, epics are usually 330 gems and legendaries are 400 gems, then you are only getting a ~13% discount on the bundle, which is pretty lame comparing so just about every bundle we ever got in 1.0. I miss the old 1.0 bundles where you could buy 7+ items with real money and often get things 50% off. I haven't seen anything like that since 2.0 landed.

Additionally, the value of buying epics with real money is pretty low in general, and this is true whether the epic is part of a bundle or purchased as a single item. Placing Epics and Legendaries in bundles together manages to further obfuscate this by masking the price of each item.

As already established most Epics sell for 400 shards, 25% the price of a legendary which is usually 1600 shards, but the real money cost of an epic is 82.5% the price of a legendary item. 330 gems for epics compared to 400 gems for legendaries.

Legendaries usually sell for 1600 shards or 400 real money gems. If I only use my gems on legendaries I save a ton of shards in the long run. For example, purchasing an epic item those 330 gems only save me having to earn 400 shards. But when purchasing a legendary item, 400 gems == 1600 shards, those same 330 gems that I could have spent on an epic item instead get me 82.5% of the way to the 400 gems required for a legendary. Those 330 gems applied this way would save me having to earn 1320 shards, which is 82.5% of 1600 shards.

This is a F2P world now and I recommend that you consider the evidence above detailing the decreased value your money brings you in this marketplace before deciding to spend money on 2.0 bundles.

Make Silver City Brawl Permanent?

Posted: 27 Jun 2017 11:22 AM PDT

I really, really, really like this weeks brawl. It has the same timer of a regular game of heroes, but takes out the objective part and makes it all team fighting. I really enjoy the different style of play it encourages for everyone and for a lot of heroes, it also encourages a completely new talent build than their usual repertoire. I also like that the game is set up to use all talent tiers, instead of a lot of the brawls where you just get your ult, but the heroes then feel hollow and incomplete.

Any one else interested in seeing this particular brawl become a permanent feature?

Patch notes?

Did we get Jebaited by the beginning of the event? I see posts of people talking about the new Sun's Out, Guns Out chests, but still we didn't get any patchnotes. Are we sure today is the day of a balance patch?

The new Team League is great!

Posted: 27 Jun 2017 09:07 AM PDT

So far, about 15 games in, Team League seems fixed! Every game has been somewhat close, with few matches wildly out of favor. Not a single bronze/silver with diamond/plat pairing. There are zero trolls, unlike hero league, and everyone has been friendly and trying to work together.

For comparison, the chance of getting any good game before was like 5%, now it's closer to 95-100%.

Also ignore the estimated wait times! They're way, way off in team league. I've gotten lots of 20s queues on an estimate of 450s. Three stacks are still faster, but duo queues seem around 300ish to 400 on average which is perfectly fine knowing the match will be good.

Give it a try!

Snitch full grief

Abathur's Monstrosity should follow its shift-queued orders after removing the hat.

Posted: 27 Jun 2017 06:24 AM PDT

Seriously, this is the problem sucking all the fun out of this heroic and it doesn't make any sense on top of that.

Abathur, the master of macro and being everywhere on the map at once, has to babysit his creation all the time. Especially painful when doing such mundane stuff as falling back in lane for a while or walking to switch lanes.

This one simple change would make this heroic way more enjoyable and matching the hero's fantasy of macromanaging and influencing the whole battlefield at once.

Summer Event poses a concern for collectors and is probably not the way to go about it

Posted: 27 Jun 2017 05:10 PM PDT

This is the first true 2.0 event we have, for several reasons:

  • There's a ton of skins and mounts, much more than in any 'bundle' or 'event' patch before, all with doubled Shard prices.
  • They're all time-limited, with likely the earliest possibility of them coming back being in 1 full year (next summer).
  • The estimated cost of all the items is said to be a whooping 49,650 Shards, should you wish to craft and obtain everything.

It takes *49,650 Shards** to get all of the summer items. GL anybody trying to collect everything.* - source

  • And the time limit to acquire that is 27 days.
  • Because of the sheer amount of skin and mount variations, and for one more reason, the Sun's Out, Guns Out Bundle is not an attractive purchase and, frankly, below expectations.
  • Once again, item rarity inconsistency.

Let's try to break this down a little...

Item pricing

All the coolest and most rare stuff (skins and mounts) has doubled price. There are valid reasons for this, such as: it is an event, it's time-limited, it's meant to make us sweat and encourage us to spend money. This is the same reason all those items are only available via Sun's Out Loot Chests - Activision needs to make income, especially with all the freebies they've given us with 2.0, I get it.

However, it appears those prices are not meant to drop at any time during the event, which makes acquiring all of the items only possible for people who are willing to spend hundred os $ or €, which most of us are not.

What they did right: the prices of Portraits and Sprays - these are cool, fresh and their price seems reasonable (150 Shards), definitely possible to get them all within the event's time.

The issue is that, even with the free Sun's Out Loot Chests we get for leveling up now, they're just Common quality, and the Event items aren't even guaranteed to appear there (as in, 1 Event item per chest minimum), which means even if you manage to gather like 150 or more of them, you won't get everything, just no chance.

Lastly, as far as the pricing goes, the transition to this event wasn't the best, I think. The prices on Cloud Mounts have just dropped down to the regular 1,600 Shards, so now when people can finally buy them, they kind of can't, as they have to save all possible Shards for the Event items.

It would be nice of you Blizzard to drop the Event Skin and Mount prices down to 1.600 Shards for the last week, before the Event ends - I feel that's not an unreasonable request and should become the new 'standard' for all such Event items, especially if they're seasonal and extremely unlikely to become available again, until a long time passes.

Final note: There is no information anywhere on the website that the Shard prices of these items are meant to be reduced after a certain amount of time. If anything, every detail points to just the opposite.

The Sun's Out, Guns Out Bundle and Item Rarity and Quality situation

As some have already expressed, the Bundle doesn't feel attractive or 'worth it'.

We get:

  • 3 Heroes (Stitches, Tracer, Tychus)
  • 3 Skins (1 for each hero)
  • 1 Surfboard Mount

So why does the Bundle feel bad at the moment? Because with so many color variations of all those skins, Blizzard decided to hand-pick one variations for Stitches, Tracer, Tychus and the Mount. Tychus' skin in the bundle is the 'Epic' one, so is the Surboard Mount. The difference between Tychus' 'Epic' and 'Legendary' rarities is that in one skin he wears shorts and in the other he wears briefs, and that's literally the only difference between them - the rest is different coloring. Price difference? 1,800 Shards.

There's two things I don't like about this in particular, and it already became a bit obvious with Malthael's bundle, about which people have also expressed concerns:

  • Why does the bundle include the Epic and not the Legendary versions of Tychus' skin and Surboard's Mount?
  • Why, 2 years in, aren't those bundles truly dynamic? I'd love to pick the color variation for Tracer's, Stitches', Tychus' skins and Surfboard's mount myself, and only then make the final purchase.

With this many variations and so many Shards required to collect everything, would it have really hurt you to include the more expensive variations in this bundle? After all, that's what those bundles used to be - they included all 3 skin variations pre-2.0, so now it feels only natural they should include the most expensive variation. We would've gotten just 1 of Tychus' 10 Skins and 1 of the 10 Surfboard Mounts and still wouldn't be able to collect every single Event item.

I'd highly suggest you either include the most expensive variation in future bundles, or work hard to create truly dynamic bundles, where we wouldn't be able to choose the heroes, as they're the core of a bundle, but at least the skins and/or mounts associated with them. Should the price change or rise depending on our picks, I'm sure the majority would not only be fine with that, they'd prefer this option.

There's also the issue of said Event items' rarity being different on the website and in game, but since Blizzard is already on it, I'm not gonna delve into this.

Lastly, you've done it again, Blizzard. Even the new, Legendary Tychus skin has been botched. You've got everything nicely remodeled BUT Tychus' Heroic ability, Odin, which still looks very much Terran and nothing even remotely resembling a summer or a beach for that matter. This isn't about the 2.0 Legendary skins not being on the same level as pre-2.0 Legendary skins have us gotten used to, it's just sloppy work at this point.

I think I speak for everyone here when I say that a 'Legendary' skin should have every single part of a Hero remodeled, including Heroics and / or special talents. This is another thing that I'm beginning to be seriously worried about, as it's starting to turn into false advertising at this point - you are underdelivering on Legendary skins quality compared to what we're used to and this really has nothing to do with the entire 2.0 transition.

TLRD: I don't know, I was hoping that with dedication, enough time spent and a little bit of money incentive, I'll be able to collect every item from the Event, however everything seems to point to the task being extremely difficult to achieve, and likely requiring 'Hearthstone' levels of money investment, which is definitely discouraging, if anything.

Just concerned about the item availability, difficulty of acquisition, and the seeming necessity of large money investment in order to fully 'complete' the Event in terms of getting everything, heck, let alone the majority of it. This is all first impression based, looks grim so far, and I'm very worried if that's the future route Blizzard intends to take with HotS 2.0 Events.
