This Week's Tavern Brawl is "Randomonium" (May 31, 2017) Posted: 31 May 2017 09:01 AM PDT Description: An encounter at the crossroads... under a manastorm! Choose a class, get random cards. Each turn your cards' costs are randomized! More info can be found here. Fun fact: is the 7th time we have "Randomonium" as a Tavern Brawl. [link] [comments]

[Poll] If Hearthstone were to add one new game mode what should it be? Posted: 31 May 2017 07:34 AM PDT Vote for which new game mode should be added here: http://www.strawpoll.me/13080916 Note that this poll is specifically about new ways to play the game, not "features" like Auto-Squelch or more deck slots. Had the best ladder run of my life this month! Posted: 31 May 2017 03:28 AM PDT Came back to hearthstone after a long break and holy shit the new ladder milestones are awesome! I get crazy ladder anxiety and usually struggle to get past rank 17. This month I got to rank 9 (one win away from rank 8), and I'd only been playing for the past 3 days. I did it with a really slow control pally deck too, which is extra nice as I still have PTSD from being smashed by aggro shaman before turn 6 on a daily basis. [link] [comments]

How did my deck tracker know that Prince Malchezaar was in my opponent's hand? Posted: 30 May 2017 11:21 PM PDT This has happened before where my deck tracker somehow knew a card in my opponent's hand that it would have absolutely no business of knowing. This time I managed to get some proof of it. So in screenshot 1, there are a few key things to notice. I am using HSTracker for Mac. In my opponent's hand, only 1 card has a card back symbol next to it. When cards have symbols, the tracker allows you to highlight them for further information. Well, I highlighted it. Below, it said that the card was Prince Malchezaar. I of course knew that he had it in his deck already since it did the opening animation, but there was no possible way I (or the tracker, right?) could have known that it was in his hand. So maybe it's a glitch? Maybe that's not Malchezaar in that position? Well, for curiosity, I waited until he played the card, and... lo and behold... It was indeed Prince Malchezaar all along! Could be a hugely random coincidence, right? Well, this has happened with this deck tracker before for other cards that had that symbol that I could highlight that I had no business of knowing. I pay close attention to my games. What's especially striking here in this example is that I saw that it was Malchezaar from turn 1, so it's not like something could have added it to his hand that I may have missed. So what is it? I think that there's some information that the game provides about the opponent's hand that, in certain cases, this deck tracker can pick up on and then portray. What do you all think? Tournament Mode Alternative [Serious] Posted: 31 May 2017 08:14 AM PDT The community has been asking for a tournament mode for years now. I think it's pretty clear that it's not something Blizzard wants. I can't really blame them, having in client tournaments could be a logistical nightmare. They like hearthstone to be simple. There are still several problems with how tournaments are run now that Blizzard could help eliminate. I think we need a way to challenge a friend to a Conquest Match. Where you choose your 4 decks when you enter the challenge. Deck lists are shown to both players. Ban's can be submitted. Match history is recorded. When one of the players leaves the challenge, the other can remain, and then bring the previous player back into the match. If a player left during a game it could even bring players back into that same place they left off. I just don't think the way we do it now, with constant screen shots is working for anyone. A new feature they announced recently will introduce deck list sharing via url's. This same kind of feature could be used to create a url that shows a report of what happened during the match. Who played, match history, deck lists, and disconnects. This can then be more easily copied to battlefy/strivewire/etc. Ultimately I just want to live in a world playing in a tournament can be as simple as adding a friend and challenging him to a match. Without the need to screenshot everything and worry about unsportsmanlike behavior. [link] [comments]

[Discussion] Here are some concepts from other card games that would benefit Hearthstone Posted: 31 May 2017 02:08 AM PDT Problems to address here:
Rewarding new playersGiving a lot of packs to new players is something that the majority of other card games do, to encourage a healthy flow of newcomers. Hearthstone is I think the most expensive digital card game to get into.
Introducing a new keyword: Rush(from Shadowverse) Rush - This minion can instantly attack another enemy minion (not the hero). Printing normal statted minions with this effect will encourage more reactionary board control states, without buffing aggro.
Going second providing more tempo advantagesMore coins for second player (non-card): (from Elder Scrolls Legends) Replace the coin as a card with a 3D coin on the board, that you can flip twice, giving you two mana in total. Doesn't count as a spell or card. Tempo tokens: (from Shadowverse) For board control, you can give minions the Rush (can instantly attack an enemy minion) ability using a token vial. Second player gets 3 uses, first player gets 2 uses.
Card Draw on Health Loss(from Elder Scrolls Legends) You have 2 checkpoints:
This is to encourage and give more consistency to control decks. Encourages comeback, when your opponent has more Health than you. Gives a small disadvantage to aggro.
Introducing a Sideboard and a best of 3 ladder(from MTG and Yu-Gi-Oh) Have a 5 card sideboard, that you can swap after a game with cards from your deck. A new ladder, that each opponent plays best of 3, with the same deck/class would be an interesting addition to the game, where a sideboard could provide a nice tactical effect and depth to the matchups.
Pauper format(from literally all classic card games) This is a ladder format, similar to the last Tavern Brawl we had, where you can not use Epic or Legendary cards. This is to encourage new players to not get crushed by meta decks.
Environment cards(from Yu-Gi-Oh, Gwent) Some spell cards that visually and mechanically affect the board for both players. Example: River crossing (3 mana spell): Charge minions do not get charge when played. Lasts 6 turns. Environment cards last X turns. Environment cards can be destroyed by special cards, or silence effects. Each player can have up to 1 environment card active. Environment cards affect the visual state of the board. What your favorite deck says about you Posted: 31 May 2017 03:13 AM PDT Freeze MageYou love stunning your opponents with epic, devastating combos. You are willing to spend an ample amount of time building up to the finisher and losing games to unbeatable matchups just for that one moment of satisfaction. You enjoy frustrating your opponents by constantly freezing their board, which reveals yet another aspect to your personality: you ignore your problems, expecting them to solve themselves. Exodia MageYou used to play Freeze Mage, but now you're just left wondering what was so broken about 1 mana deal 4 damage. Regardless, now you have an even more amazing finisher! Midrange Murloc PaladinYou are not the type of person to take initiative, for you adapt to the playstyle your opponent. Playing a classic Hearthstone deck, you prefer consistency, as the winrates are roughly the same, regardless of who you're facing. There is also a quirky nature about you; the fact that those ridiculously buffed minions beating up your enemies are mulocs makes it that much better. Quest RogueYou don't particularly like the back-and-forth interaction; instead, you set up your win condition and ignore your opponent's futile attempts to stop you. You let chance decide your fate instead of relying on your own skills, as the correct draws determine everything. Midrange HunterYou are f2p. Elemental ShamanYou don't play in one particular way: you can be aggressive, play the control game, or burst your opponents down in one turn. Your arsenal of tools makes the game fun for you and your opponent, since every game is unique. Secret MageYou are either a successful legend player or you have no idea ever you're doing. DiscardLockYou certainly have no idea what you're doing. Miracle RogueYou enjoy a challenge. For you, this game is a test of your intellect, since while playing this you are required to plan multiple steps ahead and estimate the chances of drawing specific cards on the miracle turn. You are likely the type of person to rant against aggro decks most passionately. Miracle PriestThat Divine Spirit + Divine Spirit + Inner Fire combo we were all dumbstruck by as noobs never left your heart, unlike most players. You're a dreamer, an idealist who works to turn his fantasy into a reality. And now, with the right tools presented by Un'goro, you can! Silence PriestYou found the unicorn priest, and it was hiding in Un'goro all along! With your meme proficiency off the charts, we can officially dub you the meme king. You are the life of the party in any social setting you find yourself, and you're generally a person everyone likes. Control PaladinYou are confident and a natural leader. You firmly stand for what you believe is right, and expect your friends to back you up as true comrades. Longer matches are your favorite because it gives you more opportunity to demonstrate your abilities. Pirate WarriorYou are compensating for your absence of skill by playing a deck that gives you the win. You don't care that you're ruining the game. You steal candy from babies. You're currently downvoting not only this post but also every single comment OP made. Quest Taunt WarriorYou love watching pirate warrior suffer as they are forced to run their minions and weapons into your wall. You have a high-risk, high-return mentality, so stay away from casinos as you might very possibly lose it all; or you just might win big. Dragon PriestYou are a morally ground person who can correctly predict trouble; sadly, few listen to you. You still enjoy the control aspect of the game, patiently waiting for the meta to slow down like most are. Hybrid Beast MageWith your flawless personality, you are what Ben Brode wishes the player base was. [link] [comments]

I think it's time to change Anduin's in-game description Posted: 31 May 2017 09:08 AM PDT It's given as: "The future King of Stormwind...." Now that he's stepped up as the actual King I believe it'd be appropriate to acknowledge it. [link] [comments]

[PSA] Swamp King and Addled Grizzly interaction Posted: 31 May 2017 04:54 AM PDT
Swamp King kills Ironbark before it gets buff and survives with 1 hp. Cost me the game, *edit: Thanks to /u/phoenixrawr , my error was After Summon and After Played. Play resolves before Summon. Case Closed. Move along. [link] [comments] |
