things you like/dislike about fallout 4 that people don't really bring up often?

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 03:03 AM PDT

For me the things I like are probably: - how clear and loud the radio is in this game compared to 3 and NV where it sounds like you're listening from the next room - how much dialogue and attention the companions got. I recently did the van graffs questline with Cass as a companion and when Jean Baptiste asks for Cass you have to turn around and convince her to go to him as if she's still at Mojave Outpost. -I adore the changing weather and the Christmas decorations at Diamond City more than really makes sense

Things I dislike: NO ONE HANDED PISTOLS, or the one handed sawed off shotgun for that matter -Not being able to hire or become a Gunner. Wealthier Caravans not hiring Gunners, after all they're supposed to be Mercs, not Raiders, but they basically just act like Raiders. - No food in the Brahmin feed tub seriously?

"Bad vibes" from Dead Money

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 10:44 AM PDT

Sorry if this post is too niche or doesn't fit into this sub... I'm just wondering if any similar experiences have been had out there. This experience has to do with Fallout and past personal drug use. I'll happily delete or accept downvotes if this doesn't mesh.

I'll start by saying I love Fallout New Vegas. It's one of my all time favorite games, though I haven't played it in a while due to a strange feeling I had early on in Dead Money. I know this is meant to be a particularly creepy DLC but it hit me hard.

So backstory... I have experimented with hallucinogens and other drugs. I've had one particularly bad acid (or research chemical) trip under my belt by the time this occurred. I had just started Dead Money. My initial impression was 'wow this is different and creepy.'

Eventually very soon after talking to Dog/God I had flashbacks to feelings I had during my bad trip. These feelings were strong enough that I had to turn off the game and go lay down for quite some time. Best guess is that it was caused by the overall creepy and different atmosphere, combined with the weirdness of the character Dog suddenly becoming a character named God.

I know this is a very specific circumstance but I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced anything remotely similar. It's interesting to me. Can remove if necessary. Thanks :)

Edit: cleaned up wording

Most hardcore role-play you've ever done in Fallout?

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 06:29 AM PDT

Like where you went the extra mile for no other reason than immersion and role play.

Mine was probably when I went full seal team six on Caesar's legion. I got a multiple companions mod, equipped them with modded desert camo gear and night vision goggles, called a vertibird and did a drop on the other side of the Colorado. The 6 of us cut a path up through the fort, killed Caesar and his commanders, and placed their heads in a pile in front of Caesar's throne. I made sure I decapitated the bodies of everyone we killed with one of their gladiuses (gladii?). We then blew up the robot army and flew out. Barely affected the game but damn it sure was fun.

How do talon compony or the gunners get enough buinssnes to pay there armys of soldiers?

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 12:44 PM PDT

It didn't make sense to me for there to be a army of mercenarys in the capital wastland. There are more talon company soldiers then people to hire them and they shoot people on site and hunt down any nice person. They try and control territory once controled neighboorhoods in dc before lossing to super mutants. The gunners have to many people as well tough at least not as unrealistic as talon company plus once again control territory shoot people on site and launch offensives against super muttants to control towns and neighboorhoods. Why dont these guys be a army trying to build for there own group rather then mercenarys how do they make a living as mercenarys.

What are your minor complaints about any of the fallout games?

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 02:47 PM PDT

For me it would be fast travel. I want to be inside Camp Mcarren not just outside the gate. The same goes for Freeside. Makes my eye twitch.

Just bought and installed Fallout 2 off GOG, is there a certain process for installing Killap's Restoration Patch?

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 12:47 PM PDT

Hello. I had just recently bought and installed Fallout 2 from GOG, and I was curious if there was any particular process for installing the Fallout 2 Restoration Project.

For a point of reference, I'm using a lenovo T410 with Win7.

Any advice and help would be welcomed. I'm kinda computer illiterate when it comes to installations. Thanks!

I want a new fallout using the same assets from fallout 3 and new vegas

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 11:02 AM PDT

There's something about the style of fallout 3 and new vegas. I can't really say exactly what I like about it, but I just like it. The little things, like the vault boy having a different stance and picture for each weapon in the pip boy. I love it so much. And the little crosshair thing just feels so....fallout. I like fallout 4, but it just felt too different for me. I want skills, new vegas style crafting (you can't turn a hunting rifle into a sniper rifle, or a laser pistol into a laser rifle, you have to find and collect each, and they have their own unique mods), and I want the HUD and pipboy style back from 3 and new vegas. What do you guys think about this?

Just got New Vegas Ultimate Edition on PC!

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 03:45 PM PDT

I've played it before, done all that there is to do on Xbox. But now I have the ability to mod it. I'm planning on running a lady centurion for the Legion for irony's sake.

Any immersive/nongamebreaking mods I should try to start this off? I'm not going for any crazy mods until I finish most of it

DIY Nuka Cola Mini Fridge.

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 10:23 AM PDT

Album

This is my attempt at a Nuka Cola fridge. Total cost was less than $100 USD. All I have left is to assemble, sand, and paint a 3d printed 10mm pistol I ordered from etsy. Hope you guys like it.

Note Please excuse the condition of my garage. I like to think it is a mess because of the multiple projects I have going at the moment.

Who did you romance in Fallout 4? (If you did at least)

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 06:06 AM PDT

I'm curious to see who's the most popular companion in Fallout 4 to date. As for myself, I romanced Hancock, who'll always be my favorite Fallout companion.

What if in Fallout 4, YOU were what the factions were fighting over?

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 02:31 PM PDT

Let's say that in Fallout 4, the Sole-Survior worked at the CIT as a Security Guard, Scientist, or Professor before the bombs dropped and due to their position within it, they were aware about a secret entrance into the Institute Spoiler, this information is relayed to the player via a somewhat extended intro where you go about your day-to-day business at the CIT. The Intro that we know as the Fallout 4 intro still occurs but with one change, the Sole Survivor is going to work instead of to the Veteran's Hall so he's wearing something like an Institute ID-Card or a Retro-Institute uniform or something else identifiable like it. Your Wife's death is closer to the concept art instead of the finished product, as in instead of Kellogg and his employers wearing Institute cleanroom suits they're wearing retro-Institute uniforms with the CIT logo's right on the shoulders, this gives the Sole Survivor reason to toss on their old CIT uniform or security card in hopes that it will give him access to the Institute. You go to Concord and Preston treats you differently, he's not as trusting and polite maybe he's a bit more paranoid even, after gunning down the Deathclaw, he explains himself and says something along the lines of "Listen, I appreciate you helping us out back there but that gear might attract the wrong kind of attention, you're welcome to lay low with us though.". From that point forward, it's a pretty different game, The Railroad and Brotherhood will be fighting over you because they both need the information you have and if you side with one, they can always take you and that information by force, The Minutemen are gonna be the hard-choice-but-the-right-one faction, You need to keep your reputation with the settlements high or they might just rat you out to the Railroad or the Brotherhood, and The Institute will use you as disinformation. This is an idea that I shamelessly stole from TvTropes and expanded upon, it's probably pretty bad but what do you guys think?

Are there any good maps of the fallout world for the current time (start of to end of fallout 4) ?

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 01:58 PM PDT

Ive seen maps for the size of factions during the time period of the other games. Big blob of red legion on the four states Ncr on the coast brotherhood on the east before we knew they were creating and expaning a nation by the time of fallout 4. Heres a good example tough the midwest bos are disolved or at least far far smaller by the time of fallout 3. http://imgur.com/w0za4Em

So if the minute men can make artilary and had it in the past as well why don't more groups have it?

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 01:17 AM PDT

It seems to easy to me yet this is the first time we see it. The ncr have working cars virtibirds make new buildings and roads with concreate. The brother hood have the prydwen they made it from scraping stuff. So why don't people do it artilary would be so much help against the legion and even raiders could make it with the right blueprints since the minutemen are just regular people puting it together.
