| Destiny Summer Showdown - Season 3, Challenge 3: "Your Legacy" Posted: 21 Jun 2017 09:48 AM PDT Happy Hump Day, Guardians! Last week's challenge was absolutely incredible. I tasked you with racking up as many kills as you could in a single Patrol activity and you annihilated my wildest expectations. /u/BlazeBoss17 knocked out 10,000 kills in just under 8 hours, blowing the entire subreddit and some folks at Bungie away. This place was the talk of the town for your efforts and I salute you! Today, I'm issuing a different sort of challenge and I've brought along some friends to help me with it. Between now and Tuesday the 27th, your task is to create a Destiny emblem and the accompanying lore for that emblem. It must be original artwork and original lore content. Simple enough, yes? Ready? But Woodhouse, what about those friends you mentioned? Ah yes! Since this challenge isn't in-game and cannot be scored, we're going to need some judges. Normally, I call upon my fellow mods to assist me in judging the subjective challenges, but I felt that some expert opinions were needed for this one. MEET YOUR GUEST JUDGES!/u/PlainBen/u/NFSgaming/u/DEADPOOL-52When the entries close at 10am Pacific on June 27th, our three talented guest judges will each select one of your submissions as their winner. What do the winners get? In addition to the exclusive Destiny Summer Showdown champions' flair, Regal, the winning emblems will be turned into user flair later in the year. To submit, leave a comment that contains a link to your original emblem and a blurb about the lore connected to your emblem. You will be judged on the quality of both your artwork and your writing. GO!Yoooooo! /u/NFSgaming has graciously provided an awesome template for you. Check it out![link] [comments] |
| On September 5th, We Should All Gather in the Tower One Last Time Together Posted: 21 Jun 2017 07:31 AM PDT At a specific time, for a little while, we should all go into the Tower, wearing stupid stuff, play with the purple ball, jump on each other's head, and all around just celebrate the last 3 years. Show off some stuff some of us has kept since September 2014! Send out the game the same way we rang it in. That first day was...incredible. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 21 Jun 2017 08:09 AM PDT After I did my FWC Hunter I thought it was only fair to paint my Dead Orbit Warlock. Painted digitally in Photoshop. cheers. Guess I'll have to do my Titan next. :D [link] [comments] |
| 3 Kills, 3 Heavy Bricks, 1 Bullet Posted: 21 Jun 2017 04:22 AM PDT Defender Titan, in Mayhem Clash, running weapons of light, illuminated and a replenish sniper! I'm so sorry! Edit: Expected to get hated on for this. Bonus video - https://youtu.be/2OQcA4UWNdQ I highly recommend this build to actually have fun in Mayhem! [link] [comments] |
| Bungie already had Destiny T-shirts in 2011 Posted: 20 Jun 2017 07:57 PM PDT http://i.imgur.com/LfNcX6S.jpg This is the photo from testing lab at Bungie taken around 2011. Photo was a part of presentation at GDC 2011 talk about Halo: Reach networking system. David Aldridge who did the talk showed the slide to everyone and NOBODY KNEW WHAT'S COMING. If anyone is interested, here is the talk: http://www.gdcvault.com/play/1014345/I-Shot-You-First-Networking EDIT: Wooohoo, first page! Hi Mom! [link] [comments] |
| 'Sabotage' - The Semi-Serious Destiny Montage Posted: 21 Jun 2017 08:05 AM PDT |
| Posted: 21 Jun 2017 05:14 AM PDT I won't lie, I hated Destiny on release and was in honest disbelief that this was a game made by Bungie and dropped it after hitting lvl 20. However, gameplay from D2 and especially the PC footage has me very excited for that and as such I thought I'd give D1 another shot, since The Collection was "just" 30€ on PS4. The content is so, so, so much better than it was 2 years ago and I've been having a blast and that's just playing solo most of the time! Can't wait for D2 on PC, even though I'm fairly disappointed it releases later there, I'm cautiously optimistic Bungie will get it right on release this time. [link] [comments] |
| Why can't beards be in Destiny 2? Posted: 21 Jun 2017 09:40 AM PDT |
| My friend created the SIVA symbol with some brightly colored bacteria! Posted: 21 Jun 2017 12:32 PM PDT He works in a lab and he discovered a bacteria that had a bright red color and decide to "paint" the symbol in a petri dish and this was the result! I thought it was pretty neat and asked if I could share it with you fine guardians! Edit: I asked and he thought the bacteria was Micrococcus roseus for those interested [link] [comments] |
| Will the nova bomb be a roaming super in D2? Posted: 21 Jun 2017 07:36 AM PDT I haven't seen any confirmation of this, but it makes sense. The two "shut down" supers are the smash and the nova. With elemental weapons inflicting more damage to a guardian who is in his super, it makes no sense to have these shut down supers. The Striker now has a roaming super, so that leaves the Voidwalker. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 21 Jun 2017 09:45 AM PDT As more information leaks out about the new Lost Sectors content type in D2, some disappointment is bubbling to the surface in the community -- primarily regarding the fact that they aren't repeatable (i.e. the loot doesn't refresh -- While some disappointment on that front is certainly understandable (since more endgame content is always better), it is important to understand the goal of Lost Sectors (and, likely, Adventures): they aren't intended to be repeatable endgame content along the lines of strikes and raids, but rather should be looked at as a 1-time extension of the campaign experience. Think about all the collectible icons on the map in Ubisoft games like Assassin's Creed or Far Cry. These aren't repeatable experiences, and they usually don't measure up to the campaign missions in terms of quality and depth. But they can provide a nice extension of the campaign experience, allow the developers to explore the game world a bit more and take full advantage of the nooks and crannies in their maps, and can add a solid 5-10 hours of first-time gameplay to the experience. So are they going to be a game-changer to those of us who expect to pour hundreds of hours into this game? Absolutely not. But will they be a nice addition for everyone, and particular valuable to solo or extremely casual players who don't plan to engage with the endgame grind, and will appreciate an additional 5-10 hours of content in addition to the 10-15 they'll probably spend going through the campaign once? Absolutely. And who knows, it might even keep more casual players engaged long enough to meet some friends in the game and get hooked for the long haul. TLW: Lost Sectors aren't going to be a game changer for the endgame, but they should still be a nice addition to the game and will be particular valuable to casual players. EDIT: I should have been a bit more nuanced in my title and post, and to be clear nothing here is fully confirmed. By repeatable, I'm thinking of content that can be played over and over and over again, like strikes. I think they will definitely be replayable (the dev in the now-deleted post mentioned introducing your friends to them after you've checked them out the first time), but I wouldn't expect this to be the type of content that you sit down and grind week after week. For most players, I expect that you'll clear them once and that will be pretty much it. [link] [comments] |

| Anyone post this game radar piece with Luke Smith about the easy button? /s Posted: 21 Jun 2017 07:14 AM PDT
I don't think this is a terrible idea so long as it is a hint and not a walkthrough that they provide. Edit: except for in the raid. Shouldn't be hints there. [link] [comments] |
| Armsday Rolls, week 94 [2017-06-21] Posted: 21 Jun 2017 05:50 AM PDT Welcome to Armsday, week 94. This post is a compilation of all the weapon rolls. I want to hear what you think are the best choices, post in the comments. Here's a list of the available rolls this week. If you ordered ones I didn't please post the rolls in the comments and I'll add them. Useful Links:
New to Armsday? For those new to Armsday, here's the basics: Each week you can order a number of weapons from the gunsmith, equal to your gunsmith rank, up to a max of 3. You can rank up by doing the weekly weapon tests. On the Wednesday following your order, you get to choose from a number of rolls (combinations of perks) on each of the weapons you ordered. Again, this number is equal to your gunsmith rank, up to a max of 3 possible choices. If you choose not to turn in your weapon order for a roll, you can hold onto the order and you will get access to 3 new rolls every week (until you claim the weapon). The orders never expire but do take up inventory space, and do count towards your max number of orders. At any given time the max number of orders you can have in your inventory is 3 per character. Below are the rolls available to those who ordered these weapons last week. Thanks for your continued support for what we do here every week, -wileykyoto For Sale This Week: These are the weapons that are available this week for order.

| Our downfall was inevitable. If not the Cabal, then the Hive. Posted: 21 Jun 2017 06:32 AM PDT Just thinking, but all it took to take down the Guardians and the Last City was a moderately sized armada with a bit of planning and stealth. The only reason Oryx didn't do this to us was because the Reef intercepted and engaged his forces en route. And the only reason the Cabal made it past them was because of their destruction in that engagement. In the end we were far weaker and unprepared than we liked to believe. The Cabal invasion isn't a tragedy, it's the inevitable result of our folly, our arrogance, our lack of tact. [link] [comments] |
| Just Wanted To Gush About Destiny Posted: 21 Jun 2017 05:45 AM PDT So, I just wanted to take a moment and talk about my experience with this game. Destiny had a horrible first impression with me when I first picked it up. After that I didn't pick it up again. I still regret that after seeing all the cool stuff you Guardian Veterans went through. It wasn't until the Taken King came out that I wanted to get back into it. I took a chance, got everything set up, and rolled into the Taken King. And OH MY GOD did I have a fun time. The story missions were so good! The Strikes were so much fun! And that Raid! Since then, the game has kept me engrossed. It had me looking up lore videos, how to get special weapons so I could be more effective in the Raids, playing Trials so I could get a shot at the Doctrine of Passing. Games can seriously improve given enough time. That's something I took away from Destiny. And it's pretty inspiring as well. It made me talk to new people when I was in LFG. I do IT which means I talk a lot to different people with different tech issues. I usually get tired out to the point where I'm not interested in talking after a long day of 50 plus phone calls. But the game again came through and got me energized. Especially since I found a good group to play with when everybody is in the mood to do ANY Raid. We don't care if it's the weekly or not, we get pumped and fight the Fallen, the Taken, the Hive, and the Vex. And then there's this sub. I can honestly say this is probably the best gaming related subreddit I've ever been connected to. You guys are awesome people. I wish I could play with all of you. To sum it all up, Destiny became such a great game that I love to get immersed in. And I can't wait to go through Destiny 2. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 21 Jun 2017 08:32 AM PDT Decided last night to have some fun and bring the old favorite Her Benevolence out and ended up making this beautiful snipe on a hammer Titan super and then finished off a Phantom. Using it again really made me miss the wonderful plays I've made with Her Benevolence and made me hate it more that it never made a comeback. Glad I've kept it though. | Anyone else having a meltdown trying to earn their t-shirt? Posted: 21 Jun 2017 09:36 AM PDT I've definitely left myself too much to do, in to short a time! Does anyone have any advice on how the XP is weighted in particular nodes or pages? I'd like to know what I should be focusing on to make the biggest impact on my %. (Raids might be a little tricky as my friends stopped playing a while ago) Thanks in advance for any advice and empathy! (Discussion) [link] [comments] |

| Theory - Sun Killing Machine Origins Not Cabal? Posted: 21 Jun 2017 05:05 AM PDT [Discussion] So having watched the trailers and lurked the /r/DTG reading all the theories and comments revolving around the various D2 trailers, I've noticed a common trend in that people seem to believe the sun killing maching observed is a maching of cabal origin. I however believe the origin of the 'ship' lies elsewhere. The whole artstyle of the ship doesn't seem very cabal-like. To me as the shot pans across and in the following close up, the surface appears to be rather brass-y and metallic. Not unlike a rather dangerous and manipulative race, the Vex. Even going as far as to note the ring like structure around the central been firing into the sun. In the millisecond before firing, there is what appears to be a large red circle much like is found on various pieces of vex architecture. The beem itself is also very typical of Vex. Many of these beams exist and various Crucible maps and in the gravity well in (The Citadel?) mission where we capture Skolas. The twin suns as mentioned in other posts can also be seen from Nessus which is a Vex world now. It could possibly be insight into the past (or future) using Vex time foolery or be a part of current plans to subvert themselves into the Universe-code. (I'll will update with pictures when I can, work is not a good place to reddit but I wanted to get this out there). What do you think? Is it possible it is Vex, not Cabal? What motives would either side have for doing this? TL;DR The sun killer machine seen in the trailers is a Vex machine, not Cabal. EDIT: Woo front page. Man is the air clear up here. EDIT 2: I also stand corrected, the ship is not in orbit around the binary star system, just a single yellow star. [link] [comments] |
