Aksis Hitbox Analysis and The Real Reason Dark Drinker Outperforms Raze Lighter

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 06:28 AM PDT

TL;DR / TL;DW : Aksis has a single hitbox. Dark Drinker is better against Ultras. Raze Lighter is better against Majors.

YouTube Video of Analysis

There was a recent reddit post titled "I hope we get more enemies with multiple hitboxes in D2" and the poster used Aksis as an example. While I agree with the spirit behind the post, Aksis does not have multiple hitboxes.

The theory that Aksis has multiple hitboxes has been a longstanding myth believed by many in the Destiny community. I believe this all started shortly after Datto's video of weapon damage tests on Aksis. In that video, Datto concluded that Dark Drinker is very good at damaging Aksis. Many in the Destiny community believed that the reason why Dark Drinker was so good against Aksis was because a heavy Dark Drinker attack would hit multiple legs of Aksis, and that those legs were separate, individual hitboxes. Even one of Bungie's own raid designers repeated this explanation for Dark Drinker's effectiveness against Aksis in the Bungie Raid Along. I am hoping to show the community that Aksis only has a single hitbox, and explain why Dark Drinker is more effective against him than a Raze Lighter, for comparison.

Hitboxes

A hitbox in Destiny basically means the location where an enemy will take damage. Fortunately, we don't have to speculate where hitboxes are on Destiny enemies, because Bungie has provided us with a visual cue. If you analyze video frames, the hitbox of an enemy will highlight when you deal damage to it.

Dreg - Single Hitbox

Darnu - Single Hitbox

So now that we have seen what the hitbox highlighting looks like, let's take a look at a fallen walker, which actually does have multiple, separate hitboxes.

Fallen Walker - Multiple Hitboxes

If Aksis' legs are multiple hitboxes as many in the community believe, then we should see something similar to the fallen walker when I shoot Aksis in the leg. Only that leg's hitbox should light up. So I shot a scout rifle at his leg, but all of Aksis lit up.

Aksis Leg - Single Hitbox

I used a Dark Drinker attack on Aksis and again, his entire model lit up.

Aksis - Single Hitbox

Damage Numbers

There is another visual cue that we can use to determine hitboxes and that is the location of displayed damage numbers. Have you ever noticed where the damage numbers show up when you're using a Dark Drinker on Aksis? The damage numbers are always displayed in a single column at the center of Aksis. If his legs were individual hitboxes, you would see damage numbers all over the place - you would see a damage number on the left, on the right, etc.

Aksis Dark Drinker Damage Numbers

Since we have shown that the walker tank has multiple hitboxes, I activated Radiance and spammed solar grenades at multiple locations on the walker. I tried to damage different hitboxes at the same time, to see if I could get separate columns of damage numbers on screen at the same time.

Solar Grenades on Fallen Walker

(Note: Even though one column of damage is "Immune!" because of the invulnerable damaged leg, you can see that there are two different hitboxes being damaged at the same time.)

I did the same thing with Aksis, but all of the damage numbers were still displayed in a single column in the center of Aksis.

Solar Grenades on Aksis

All the evidence points to Aksis having just a single, large, oddly-shaped hitbox.

Exotic Swords - An Interesting Observation

So if Aksis doesn't have multiple hitboxes, why is Dark Drinker so good? Most people in the community, myself included, thought that Raze Lighter is always better for single target damage. It turns out, people already did the testing a long time ago. Shortly after The Taken King released, a reddit user named /u/Not_tdi293 made a post comparing all three exotic swords against Draksis, the final boss from the story mission "Scourge of Winter" on Venus. He ultimately concluded that Dark Drinker dealt more damage per heavy attack than Raze Lighter.

A short time after this post, another Reddit user by the name of /u/CaptainChaozZz performed his own damage testing with the exotic swords against the Hive Swordbearer in Crota's End. His conclusion was different, he showed that Raze Lighter dealt more damage per heavy attack than Dark Drinker.

So we have two contradictory results, one of them has to be wrong, right? Well that's where it gets interesting - both conclusions were correct. You see, there was a difference in the two testing methodologies. The first test was done against Draksis, an Ultra-tier enemy. The next test was done against the Hive Swordbearer, a Major-tier enemy. As it turns out, this is an important difference. Against all Major enemies, Raze Lighter will do more damage per attack. Against all Ultra enemies, Dark Drinker will do more damage per attack. It definitely holds true for Aksis:

Aksis

Aksis Dark Drinker Raze Lighter
Damage 32,496 23,602

To test this theory / rule, I recorded some clips of using both swords against a major arc captain, and then both swords against Draksis.

Majors

Major Dark Drinker Raze Lighter
Damage 28,560 29,628

Ultras

Draksis Dark Drinker Raze Lighter
Damage 13,712 9,957

So the reason why Dark Drinker performs better than Raze Lighter on Aksis has nothing to do with hitboxes at all, it's because Aksis is an Ultra. Dark Drinker should outperform Raze Lighter against any Ultra in Destiny.

I'm the developer of a text-based version of Destiny! AMA

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 11:03 AM PDT

I am the developer of DestinyRPG, https://destinyrpg.com

For Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.firestream.rpgfordestiny

For iOS: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/rpg-for-destiny/id1248359427?ls=1&mt=8

I started on this in late February. It's been a fun project and we should break 20,000 players today sometime. Before that I started and ran HaloCharts (large halo site) and HaloSphere (large halo text game). I love trying to build community text games like this. Would love for you all to join and try it!

And yes, we actually got shut down last week by Activision, and then the decision was graciously reversed by them as this project is not for profit. Proof: https://game.destinyrpg.com/img/proof.jpg

Special weapons aren't gone solely because of PvP...

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 09:10 AM PDT

TL;DR at the bottom.

There has been a lot of talk about Bungie's decision to remove special and heavy weapons from D2 on the shoulders of PvP. While I think that there is some truth there, I don't think it's the sole reason...

I don't think Bungie ever had a vision of someone going into Atheon, popping a couple of weapons bubbles and dropping him in seconds with Ghorns. I don't think they ever considered War Priest dropping first round because of Black Spindles and Sleepers. I can't imagine they envisioned Aksis getting worked over by Darkdrinkers in his first damage phase. And don't forget about all the sword glitches...

In our current game, we basically have 2 weapons that deal enormous amounts of damage, which has allowed us to make quick work of raid bosses. In D2, we are going to have to make a choice between a good crowd control weapon like a shotty or fusion, or a high damage precision gun like a sniper or linear fusion, or the slow firing, massive DPS rocket launcher. We're not going to have the ability to deal ridiculous amounts of damage with our never ending supply of special and heavy DPS. It's going to take teamwork and communication to do serious damage with 2 primaries and a power weapon.

TL;DR: Was PvP a consideration for removing special? Yes. But massive DPS and quick raid boss destruction had a hand in their removal.

E3 Destiny 2 PC Impressions - PS4 Player's Perspective

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 06:21 AM PDT

I work for Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe and was lucky enough to go to E3 this year on behalf of my team. Business got in the way of me actually playing very much while I was there but my pass did get me in early on the Thursday, so I went straight to the Nvidia Destiny 2 stand.

As someone who put almost 1000 hours into D1 on console (and had burnt out by the time Rise of Iron came out) I was extremely curious to see how/if the core gameplay would translate to mouse and keyboard. I play a lot of FPS on PC too so I'm not coming at this from a console vs PC FPS thing; it just simply feels so good on console I had concerns that it would lose something in the transition.

It didn't.

My fears were completely unfounded. This demo was limited to the first mission (the one you saw during Activision's unveil) so I won't go into the specifics of the lore or anything. Mechanically, it took a few minutes to get over my disorientation but once I did… well I'm not sure I can go back, to be honest. There's something immensely satisfying about the way hand canons work with a mouse. I think it's because there's no aim assist so when you pop several heads in a row without missing a shot you know that's all you.

Also tried the new submachine gun class which felt a lot like the high-RoF autorifle archetype from D1 but with a hell of lot less recoil (but with more frequent reloading). I can see this being an especially popular choice in PvP and have some concerns over how they're going to balance this, in the sense that if it's too popular they make it unusable. However, there was no opportunity to play PvP on PC so I guess we'll get a better idea of how the meta will form during the beta in August.

I have some gripes but they're all minor and easily fixed:

  • The scene transition loading times between the cutscenes and game were noticeably long

  • Not all of the keybinds are well chosen (grenade was default Q and super/interact were right next to each other which I can see leading to a few accidental discharges)

  • While most of the textures were stunning, looking out over the city produced the same blocky, low-rez textures from D1 which was something of a disappointment – especially as it's so much more noticeable on PC

I came away from the demo a lot more excited, not just about Destiny on PC but about Destiny 2 as a whole. When I first saw footage of D2 gameplay I have to admit to being somewhat underwhelmed. It looked to me like Bungie had taken an expansion and slapped a 2 on it. Maybe they did but after my playthrough I found that I didn't care and that I'm ready to dive back in regardless. And unless something drastically changes: it'll be the PC version into which I'll be doing the diving.

Destiny 2 - Guardian's Guide to PC Gaming - Post E3 June Edition

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 08:36 AM PDT

This is the second entry in our monthly preview of the best PC gaming components for Destiny 2. The first entry is available here.

Again, the original is on Medium. It may look better on mobile there, but the text has been copied and formatted for here.

Welcome back, Guardians and aspiring Guardians! We're back with hardware recommendations based on all the E3 news. Let's do this thing.

What's new for June?

  • Xbox One X comparison
  • Checking up on our updates from May
  • Recommendations for 1080p builds that can hit a consistent 60 fps
  • Recommendations for a 1080p build that can average 144 fps (buckle up)
  • Recommendations for 1440p builds that can hit a consistent 60 fps
  • Recommendations for a 4k60 build that averages 60 fps
  • Current Monitor Recommendations

TL;DR

1. This is a terrible time to try to DIY a computer, not just because we still don't know the recommended specs. Mainstream graphics cards are in extreme shortage, driving up prices to nearly double their normal retail price. For anyone in the market right now, we put together a guide for what the best cards are and what price you should be paying. To that end, we're adding a column to our reports to indicate what a normal price would be for these components.

2. Console Pricing as of June 2017:

Console Subscription Length Price
Xbox One and Xbox Live 12 month $290
PlayStation4 and PlayStation+ 12 month $275
PlayStation4 Pro and PlayStation+ 12 month $445
Project Scorpio and Xbox Live 12 month $539

3. The Xbox One X is such a unique configuration that there is not an equivalent PC gaming rig. At $499, it is a pretty good deal.

4. Destiny 2 will be a CPU intensive game, as noted by the fact that the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro are CPU-limited to 30 fps.

5. 60 fps is going to be a PC EXCLUSIVE. See, Phil S, I can use that word too. It's not EXCLUSIVE to just Microsoft's EXCLUSIVE event. Let's hope Bungie thinks of a way to optimize its engine and offers it to Xbox One X and PS4 Pro gamers with one of the later DLCs.

6. Wait until the PC beta (late August) to buy any PC gaming stuff. Markets are all messed up, and we're just guessing at how stuff will run, but for specifics about Destiny 2, we need to wait and see the beta.

7. Bungie seems to be taking the PC version very seriously. Per TeftyTeft at the Intel E3 Conference, Bungie is investing significant resources to ensure the game scales across multiple-core CPUs. That indicates they are taking their port seriously and that investments in better processors should pay off.

8. We're using data from GamersNexus with their blessing. They are awesome and if you want to go deep into performance analysis, they are a great resource.

Xbox One X Comparison

Microsoft dropped its latest hardware, the Xbox One X, at E3. While capable of displaying 4K graphics, Bungie announced it will be 4K at 30 fps, the same as PS4. Bungie is on the record of saying that they're CPU limited on PS4 Pro, and Xbox One X uses an identical processor that's only 8% faster.

The thing about CPU limitations is that they're independent of the resolution. (Not sure how what a CPU or GPU limitation means? Check our primer.) The only way to resolve them is to drop the quality settings or get a better CPU. Bungie apparently didn't want to drop the settings so, it's a 30 fps game on console.

$647–4k30 Xbox One X Competitor

Component Name Amazon NewEgg Fair Price
CPU Intel Pentium G4560 $88 $105 $75-85
GPU MSI RX 580 Gaming X 8G $752 $260 Out of Stock $245

Hardware Only Cost $529
OS Windows 10 Home 64 bit $93 $103
Input Cooler Master Devastator II $25 $25
System Cost $647

Original build here here

Fortunately for PC gamers, finding a better CPU is easy. However, Microsoft did something really smart here, equivalent to min-maxing a character in a class-based RPG. Because they were building their system from scratch, they designed the CPU and GPU perfectly to be able to handle 4K textures. To do this, they used a mid-range GPU but juiced the hell out of the memory bandwidth to the tune of 9 GB of GDDR. There's no equivalent graphics card that offers 9 GB of GDDR! The RX 580 comes with up to 8 GB of GDDR, but the Xbox One X has 40 cores vs the RX 580's 36 and one extra GB of VRAM. The RX 580 can pull off 4k30 in many games, but it's designed to excel at 1080p settings.

May Recommendations Update

$463 - Cheapest 1080p30 Build

Honestly, getting a little nervous about this one. The Pentium G4560 is an awesome processor for $80, but the thing is it doesn't perform that much better than the parts found in the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. The difference on PC is that you can typically drop some of the settings to achieve a higher framerate. Expect this to achieve 30 fps with ease at whatever settings Bungie has been demoing D2 at on console (signs point to High, but not Ultra). Consider dropping the settings to get closer to 45 fps.

Performance Prediction:

1080p 60 fps at Medium Settings

1080p ~45 fps at Ultra Settings

Component Name Amazon NewEgg Fair Price
CPU Intel Pentium G4560 $88 $105 $75-85
GPU MSI GeForce GTX 1050 2G OC $89 $89 $80-90
Memory 4GB Patriot Signature DDR4 2400 MHz $30 N/A $30
Motherboard ASRock B250M-HDV MicroATX $63 $63 $63
Storage Western Digital Caviar Green 500GB 7200 rpm $26 N/A $26
Power Supply EVGA 430 W1 $30 $34 $30
Chassis Fractal Design Core 1000 USB3.0 $48 $40 $35-40
Hardware Only Cost $345
OS Windows 10 Home 64 bit $93 $100 $93
Input Cooler Master Devastator II $25 $25 $25
System Cost $463

$522— Cheapest 1080p60 Build

This is using the same CPU but a juiced GPU. Again, considering the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro can't hit a consistent 60 fps with their CPU, I'm worried this one won't at similar settings, but there may be options to reduce to Medium-High to hit 1080p60. I'm still guessing here.

Performance Prediction:

1080p 60 fps at High settings if it is more FPS than Open World (i.e. like BF1)

1080p 60 fps at Medium settings if it is more Open World than FPS (i.e. more like Watch Dogs 2)

Component Name Amazon NewEgg Fair Price
CPU Intel Pentium G4560 $88 $105 $75-85
GPU MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gaming X $140 $155 $140
Memory 4GB Patriot Signature DDR4 2400 MHz $30 N/A $30
Motherboard ASRock B250M-HDV MicroATX $63 $63 $63
Storage Western Digital Caviar Green 500GB 7200 rpm $26 N/A $26
Power Supply EVGA 430 W1 $30 $34 $30
Chassis Corsair Carbide Series 100R Mid Tower Case $50 $40 $40
Hardware Only Cost $404
OS Windows 10 Home 64 bit $93 $100 $93
Input Cooler Master Devastator II $25 $25 $25
System Cost $522

New Recommendations

We were asked to expand recommendations beyond the cheapest kits, so here are kits we wholly endorse for gaming in general. The key difference between the average and consistent recommendations is that a "consistent 60 fps" should never be below 60 fps, whereas the average one will see dips below 60 at the most extreme circumstances. From a benchmark perspective, we're essentially basing performance off a component's "minimum" performance instead of its average. We don't use true minimums because computers do weird shit, so instead we look at its minimum over 99% of the time and use that.

$1,015— Consistent 1080p60 Build

Here, we are beefing up the CPU to the R5 1500X, which will get you well above the 60 fps threshold and last for several years. The X370 is one of the higher end motherboards that will allow some expansion, but a B350 chipset could save you $60.

Performance Prediction:

1080p 60 fps at Ultra settings if it is more FPS than Open World (i.e. like BF1)

1080p 60 fps at High settings if it is more Open World than FPS (i.e. more like Watch Dogs 2)

Component Name Amazon NewEgg Fair Price
CPU AMD R5 1500X $190 $190 $190
GPU EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 SSC $320 $280 $225
Memory Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR4 3000MHz $70 $70 $70
Motherboard ASUS Prime X370-Pro $176 $160 $160
Storage Western Digital Blue 500 GB 2.5" SATA SSD $150 $150 $150

Hardware Only Cost $897
OS Windows 10 Home 64 bit $93 $100 $93
Input Cooler Master Devastator II $25 $25 $25
System Cost $1,015

$1,771—1080p144 Build

144 fps has been championed by eSports competitors and shooter fans, as every frame counts. When you start spending this much, you can really ball out. This is a top of the line Core i7, a GTX 1070 that can spit out high frame rates, a 144 Hz monitor that prevents screen tearing with G-SYNC, and a 525 GB SSD. This system is about as good as it gets at 1080p.

Performance Prediction:

1080p 144 fps at Ultra settings if it is more FPS than Open World (i.e. like BF1)

1080p 110 fps at High settings if it is more Open World than FPS (i.e. more like Watch Dogs 2)

Component Name Amazon NewEgg Fair Price
CPU Intel Core i7-7700K $325 $340 $325

Input Cooler Master Devastator II $25 $25 $25
Monitor Acer Predator XB241H 24" 1080p144 $370 $370 $370
System Cost $1,771

$1,642—1440p60 Build

1440p gaming is in a weird place because some parts of 2160p gaming are getting very cheap and others are not. For example, the 1440p monitor we recommend is $380, while there's a 2160p monitor on sale for $313. The problem is that the $70 savings in the monitor upgrade is swallowed by the $300 difference to get a graphics card that can do 1440p60.

Regardless, the GTX 1070 is a great card for 1440p gaming. The GTX 1070 and R5 1500X should serve you well for several years.

Performance Prediction:

1440p 90 fps at Ultra settings if it is more FPS than Open World (i.e. like BF1)

1440p 60 fps at High settings if it is more Open World than FPS (i.e. more like Watch Dogs 2)

Component Name Amazon NewEgg Fair Price
CPU AMD R5 1500X $190 $190 $190
GPU MSI GTX 1070 GAMING X 8G $477 $502 $410
Memory Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3000MHz $127 $136 $127

Input Cooler Master Devastator II $25 $25 $25
Monitor Asus PB278Q 27" 1440p60 $380 $380 $380
System Cost $1,642

$2,184—2160p60 Build

We couldn't resist a 4k60 build, if only to show what "native" 4k60 is going to look like. This is 4K at a different level from the Xbox One X — it's not just scraping by at 30 fps or reducing visual settings. This is everything on blast and still getting 60 fps in 2017's most demanding games. Note that NVIDIA is running a promotion to get Destiny 2 with the purchase of a GTX 1080 or GTX 1080 Ti.

We chose the 4k60 monitor simply to show how cheap 4K monitors are getting. $280 is cheaper than most 1440p monitors, and this one comes with FreeSync. Granted, no AMD GPU can hit 60 fps at 4K Ultra, so we're sticking with an NVIDIA GPU that can. But for that price, it's a dream.

Performance Prediction:

2160p 100 fps at Ultra settings if it is more FPS than Open World (i.e. like BF1)

2160p 60 fps at Very High settings if it is more Open World than FPS (i.e. more like Watch Dogs 2)

Component Name Amazon NewEgg Fair Price

Monitor Recommendations

We were asked for a few monitor recommendations. I will list our recommendations by resolution as well as FreeSync and G-SYNC model. I use a G-SYNC monitor and think it makes a huge difference if you have the budget.

$390 Asus PB287Q 28" 60 None
$821 Asus ROG Swift PG27AQ 27" 60 G-SYNC

Wrapping Up

To try to summarize the value of the recommendations, I prepared a quick diagram of what I'm recommending and how they fit together for comparison.

To do this, let's assume every system is just a black box spitting out pixels. For a system to spit out 1080p60, it would have to deliver 1920 x 1080 x 60 pixels/second. The answer to that is our y-axis, which we plot against price on the x-axis. Note that we took out display costs so it's a pure look at hardware, and we are using our own performance predictions for what the average would be for the "consistent 60 fps" builds. I also guessed that the PS4 Pro would run at 2560x1440x30, but we don't have evidence one way or another yet.

Makes Microsoft look pretty darn smart doesn't it? They were able to juice the GPU and VRAM without adding significant cost. The reality is that higher framerates require more CPU which require more money. Being able to hit 4K at close to $500 is a good thing for gamers, and I hope it spurs more interest in beefier hardware and good optimization.

One final note. It was previously announced that Vicarious Visions is developing Destiny 2 for PC, not Bungie themselves. Bungie frames this as a true partnership and not an outsourcing situation, and I take them at their word that it will be a well-optimized game and not an Assassin's Creed or Arkham Knight scenario. Time will tell, but at this week's E3 Bungie revealed that Destiny 2 is optimizing for multiple cores, beyond even 4 cores, scaling up to the 12, 16, and 18 core CPUs coming later this year. That is a strong indicator that Vicarious Visions is intent on building a good product that will reward investing in better hardware.

As per usual, I'm happy to answer any questions. Special thanks to u/etski for giving me some feedback on this. I'd also invite you to hit me up on Twitter or Facebook if that's more convenient. Most posts are either updates to our tool or some new analysis, but we're always down to just talk tech.

The joys of playing on 10 sensitivity...

I can't wait to hear what our Ghost has to say when we revive him.

"Oh sure, you revive me one time and no one will shut up about it. Nevermind the 12,889 times I've put you back together without so much as a thank you."

I hope he our snarky lil punk has a mini rant.

D2: Is It Too Late To Add Boss Damage Stats?

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 06:46 AM PDT

I think the most surprising thing about the new Wipe-Screen/Post-Strike Report is the lack of Boss damage information. Hasn't this been a request for ages to have Boss Damage included in Story Mission and Strike post-mission summaries?

Is it too late at this stage of development to expect it to sneak in after the Beta?

My first Guardian in the wild sighting!

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 07:16 AM PDT

Saw a guy at Dave and Busters in Jacksonville, FL with his Age of Triumph shirt. Walked up and started talking, mostly about what we main and Destiny 2. As I said goodbye he said, "eyes up Guardian," and I legit almost got a little teary-eyed.

I know I'm playing with other folks online, but when you meet one, and they're genuinely awesome, it just makes the whole Destiny experience more magical.

Destiny the Game: Reddit Review by a new subscriber

Posted: 18 Jun 2017 10:09 PM PDT

Full disclosure: I used to have a real love hate relationship with this game. I frequented the Bungie.net forum and found myself as jaded as anyone there. One of the big complaints there was how Bungie listened more to Reddit than their own forum and how this Reddit was full of sycophants and brown-nosers. After hearing so much negativity about this Reddit I got curious.

Long story short, I am so glad that I found this place. The subscribers in the community here have such interesting viewpoints, seem to be on the cusp of new game information, have relevant criticisms, and can discuss their differences in a way that is civilized. I had literally forgotten what it was like simply to enjoy this game. Thanks for the laughs, thought-provoking posts, and thoughtful commentaries. Like many of you I'm very much looking forward to the sequel and can't wait to hear and see what this community is capable of going forward. Thanks!

Body Issues

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 10:27 AM PDT

Am I the only guardian around here who would like the ability to choose body type regardless of my guardian's gender? I main a Titan and wouldn't mind a sleek and slender frame but also want a male character. For that matter why do all hunters and warlocks have to be so small? Probably way too late to be bringing up such an issue, but I wanted to see what the community has to say.

Edit: to>too...

When the enemy underestimates the carry, and the carry is a (very) junior cadet for the Destiny Fun Police

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 02:08 AM PDT

This weekend I won a raffle, then put all those hours of watching Destiny Fun Police videos to work on Burning Shrine when my defender straight earned her flawless in Game 9 with a 2v1 zone capture from bubble.

Thanks again to my sherpas: Aksarian and tomoffley. And to my adversaries, for making life easy on a scrub carry ;)

I Played Destiny 2 on PC.... and it is INCREDIBLE

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 06:34 AM PDT

Hello fellow guardians.

If I am not mistaken, this is the first time I have posted on r/DTG. I am a long time lurker but I wanted to give you guys some insight into the PC version.

Many people got the chance to play the game at E3, I was one of those lucky guardians. After waiting for one and a half hours, I got the chance to play at the NVIDIA Booth. 20 stations were set up for gamers to experience Destiny 2 at it's best. As soon as the game booted up, I was instantly amazed. The game is GORGEOUS, and it didn't even run at Ultra. It was running at Medium-High with some video settings turned on and some turned down. When you move your character, you can feel the difference in frame-rate from PS4 to PC. The game feels buttery smooth and fast, and even casting the Dawnblade felt natural. All in all, Destiny 2 on PC is an incredible experience and they are going to do this right. I got the chance to speak with Eric Osborne at E3, and he said that the team did not want to delay it on PC at all. But they don't want to mess it up and want to make a good first impression, so they needed more time to make it as polished as possible.

Destiny 2 = ICONIC.
