Please buy blink as your first or Second major item on axe.

Posted: 06 May 2017 05:36 AM PDT

Axe in this game ( Some Graphs ) just refused to buy a blink until our team begged him to.

38mins into the game after we were 12k net worth behind he finally got one and then we won the next 3 fights in a row netting the win.

Guys this was a 4k avg game I hope none of you guys do this in any of your games cheers!

p.s Side Note push buildings when you have an advantage all the dire did all game was kill people Kills ≠ Wins. Kills = Taking Objectives/Farming the map (pushing waves)

Edit: If anyone can justify this guys build I'm open for discussion/critique

ELI5: Boots of Travel and Hand of Midas

Posted: 06 May 2017 09:17 AM PDT

since i started playing this game i cant seem to understand those two itens (exception being swaping your boots for BoT in the late game ofc).

Yesteday I was watching a streamer play Venonmancer mid (i think his twitch name was CCNC or something like that) and his build path was Aquila > Midas > Travel. I kinda got it that his intent was to globaly pressure all the t1's with venon push power but i can never understand where the idea of "im going to rush midas and/or BoT" comes from any other here and neither why you should do it.

so, help i guess?

IO Relocate + TP trick working still?

Posted: 06 May 2017 06:02 PM PDT

Hello,

I see in a lot of videos this method being used in matches:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9KuaRSi_y8

But I fail to reproduce it. I'm guessing it's now patched? Or it really requires strict timing?

Skipping lifesteal on ursa?

Posted: 06 May 2017 11:53 AM PDT

I've seen a lot of pro players do this build lately, where they'll go mid, pick up a bottle, and go straight to blink/bkb without ever buying lifesteal. What are the strengths of this build and when is it good?

Hey, can someone please explain to me how to deal with LC

Posted: 06 May 2017 04:54 PM PDT

Ever since i started playing dota, i have yet to see a single legion commander lose a game, let alone a single one that has a score under 20/0. On my team, on the enemy team, hell even when i play her myself. She gets out of control and in 15 min she has over 300 duel damage.

Any idea how to beat lc?

Support drafting question:How to decide whether your team needs one or two support?

Posted: 06 May 2017 04:13 PM PDT

Usually I prefer never first pick because I am not a hero spammer so I like to pick base on the enemy draft. However, I am confused about when should I pick a support, or a jungler.

I am 4k mmr but I usually play unranked Very High games(Maybe 3.7k). Consider the following scenarios:

  • 1.Supporting offlane:Our team has a traditional offlane such as timber, cent, should I pick another support when there is already a support in my team? I don't think it is a good idea to duel lane with my offlaner because he needs exp and we have no kill potential, and I don't think trilane is good in most cases because our support/ or carry has no nuke or control in early game(it is only good in few cases).

  • 2.Supporting midlane:Should I pick a roamer if I have a mid sniper, a lone druid, or alchemist or any midlaner who has no strong kill potential in early game? Should I simply roam to other lane? I think this require a lot of trust from my team.

  • 3.Supporting safelane:When should I go trilane essentially?

After considering those questions, sometimes I feel like picking a jungler contribute more to the game, but people still flame: GG jungler we lost, unless I get 100kills.

Thanks any advice!

Who are good strong offlaners that usually win lanes?

Posted: 06 May 2017 11:58 AM PDT

What are some strong heroes for offlane that usually win lane, and if they can't can rely to just sapping xp and go to jungle? I know AXE, and Abbadon is really strong right now, but my mind is foggy for the pool of offlane heros. Much help ty.

Help with offlane and rotations in 1k

Posted: 06 May 2017 02:18 PM PDT

Hi all, Currently sitting at 1.7k (Just finished TI calibration) so im by no means good just looking to improve.

Dotabuff

Im mostly playing in the offlane and my lanes in general are going ok in there. Im managing to keep pressure on their carry and picking up the occasional kill while maintaining some farm its not infrequent that I shut them out of that lane entirely.

However I find my carry or mid is usually not having the easiest time and ends up underfarmed. I will TP to help which can lead to a kill but once I leave their carry is able to use this time to catch up while im not there and our carry cant, for lack of better wording take control of his lane. When I rotate should I just stay in the jungle near our safelane to farm and be near to help him while allowing their carry to continue free farming or go back to the offlane?

Ultimately I feel like im not efficient with my time once I have ganked and this is costing the team and im not sure whether to farm jungle or run back to lane? I have had trouble getting my team to take towers when we are ahead although recently we have been closing them out with our advantage so im hoping that trend continues!

Any feedback and tips for offlaners from you is appreciated!

Locking region for matchmaking?

Posted: 06 May 2017 12:17 PM PDT

Is there a way to lock into a specific server? I just moved to EU and want to only queue in EU West, as I get the lowest ping there and have had pretty consistently nice games, but for some reason anytime I restart Dota, I have to manually select it. It tries to queue me into EU East, usually, but sometimes it just says Auto, and I assume it's going between EU East, West, and Russia?

I feel like when I selected US West back in the states, I never had any issues of it trying to check US East... did they change something? Is it my laptop? I usually play on my desktop but it hasn't arrived yet. All my other setting have stayed with my account, but if I forget to manually select EU West it just does whatever it wants, and it's annoying if I forget to check it before queuing.

Tell me what to improve for boost mmr

Posted: 06 May 2017 11:32 AM PDT

currently i am at 3k https://www.dotabuff.com/players/147966184 for a while i stopped playing ranked and playing normal party games with my friends, whhich i stomping (because my friends is far below than me, so is the opponnents)

but recently i feel pathetic and try to play competitive ranked games again, and realize just how far i behind, after emotional motivation from watching pros match i decided to work hard to increase mmr at least until 4k - 5k

i am aware just how bad i am playing, i really need guidance to improve my game,

I really want to spam abaddon, but Im losing because of him now.

Posted: 06 May 2017 11:20 AM PDT

I dont know what happened to me but somehow I keep losing on abaddon. but I noticed that builds are getting different every now and then. I want to play offlane but I dont know what I am supposed to do. +the 2kmmr, There would be no supports on the team. sometimes I adjust to it and I dont know if it is the right thing to do. Basically I dont know what the mindset of an abaddon player. I really love the hero and I want to get better. but staying silent in this subreddit would not make me better faster. All Im about is that mmr grind and it looks like this hero is dragging me down

EDIT : https://www.dotabuff.com/players/170252396/matches?hero=abaddon Here is my dotabuff link from abaddon, please criticize it as I really want to improve on this hero. I think he is in the meta it would be awesome if I get 500 mmr for this.

How do calibration games work?

Posted: 06 May 2017 09:11 AM PDT

I started the season mmr, and first game was around my regular solo average give or take 100 points. I then got bumped up 1k, then down 1k, and am staying in the lower section. The thing i don't get is, I usually end with the highest gpm in the game, the highest tower damage, and sometimes kda, but still get bumped down. Is there anything else that is taken into consideration?

Also, does doubling down on calibration do anything?

Why are carries who usually build desolator first item so strong?

Posted: 06 May 2017 08:45 AM PDT

Whenever there is a carry who rushes desolator, be it on the enemy team, my team or even me, after they get the item they seem to destroy everything they see. I have no idea why this happens or how to counter it. Mainly thinking about TA, clinkz and weaver.

I have some general carry questions.

Posted: 06 May 2017 08:05 AM PDT

I like to play carries most of the time but the thing is that I since I can play only in pubs I never what to do after the first few minutes. I usually play in the mid or safe. 1. I always fall back on advantage after early game e.g. if I got to lvl 10 in early game and my opponent is lvl 8 but a while later I am stuck at lvl 12 while he gets lvl 15.What should I do to prevent this? 2. Are melee carries more popular or ranged?(I don't keep track of pro scene) 3. How do I get advantage in mid game? (when I for some reason remain away from every team fight,) I always fall back on items in mid game.

Dazzolator

Posted: 05 May 2017 09:56 PM PDT

Its a Dazzle carry build I saw it in the Wiki. It consists of Power Threads, Desolator, Dargon Lance and Assault Cuirass. Is it worth trying? or I'll just end up lacking items because Deso first?

422MMR Coaching, Requested by GJTobi (Rubik)

Posted: 06 May 2017 02:39 AM PDT

Hi guys heres the video https://youtu.be/xhvN2KAMq2U

I wanna open the discussion again for this, both for feedback on the video and if theres anything you guys wanna add that I may have missed. Trying to get these shorter. I know I waffle on too much.

The original poster requested a specific game but I felt that all his rubik games were won or lost in the pick screen. I could have gone over individual game stuff but I think in this case it was more relevant to rubik to be able to pick him into teh right lineups. I feel I could have predected a win/loss from every game based on the draft so the focus of this video has been WHEN to pick rubik and then a case by case of why it was good or bad in the recent games. I feel this is a good starting point for low mmr players wanting to learn Rubik.
