ESO: Morrowind Size Comparison (Yes It's Bigger)

[XBOX] Just a medium sized tanking primer

Posted: 16 May 2017 12:03 AM PDT

Hi. I just wanted to go over a few things for aspiring tanks.

Stats: You want (and this is going to change in June) a large stam pool. This will help you block more, taunt more, etc. Stam regen is not important because you do not regen stam while holding block.

Almost all of your survive-ability and utility abilities are going to be magic based, therefore magicka regen is important. You're best bet is to take all your class passives that deal with magicka and slap the Autronacht mundus on. Maybe a two piece willpower if you don't have anything better to slot.

Health? you want around 30k fully buffed. Run the three stat food if you can get it, health and stam if you cannot. Try and get health from your armor, but if you're still short throw some attribute points into health (the rest in stam). I generally use no more than 4 pnts into health, if that provides some kind of guideline. TLDR: Health to 30k buffed, Magicka regen to around roughly 800-1000, and everything else into stam. Until June.

Skills: From One Hand and Shield you're going to need Puncture and all the passives. Then I take Low Slash (reduces the damage your target can do) and Shield Charge (gap closer), and then Defensive Posture (helps with block cost and reflects projectiles) as a front bar flex ability. You're also going to need your class resistance buff, ala Hardened Armor (DK), Hurricane (sorc), or Rune Focus (Templar) and whatever NB's have that's baked into their passives. So a taunt, a debuff, a gap closer and resistance buff are the 4 things that every class has access to.

Now where each class varies radically is in CC and stam recovery. CC, or Crowd Control, is your ability to lock fuckers down. DK's use talons for this to great effect, Sorcs get Encase which is a PIA, and NB's and Templars get the shaft, which is not a skill btw. These last two may benifit by using Trapping Webs from the Undaunted skill tree, but I have not tested this. Stam recovery. In a PUG your stamina is your problem. Do not count on your friendly neighborhood Templar to feed you shards all the time, because that shit aint gonna happen. Igneous Shield/Helping Hands (DK) is the classic example of stam regen. You can cast this ability while blocking, it gives you and your party a damage shield, and restores 5% of your max stamina a pop (with 2/2 Helping Hands passive). Bigger stam pools = bigger stam gains. Until June. For the Sorc, there is Dark Deal. I'm not going to lie this skill is decent but clunky and difficult to use correctly. In my experience it requires separation from the boss to use effectively. It drops block and it is not an instant cast, so if you back bar this skill you have to wait for it to hit before you bar swap and get back to business. Templars get Repentance which is very strong but you need bodies to use it, making it less useful in a boss fight. Plus every time I see a Templar use this the phrase "suck yo face" comes to mind. That may or may not be an actual phrase. NB's get Siphoning Strikes, which is a 15 second buff that hopefully gets the job done. If you can't tell, I don't know shit about NB's.

Lastly you should have a heal. Vigor is available to all, but you have to grind PvP to get it. DK's have Dragon Blood, Templars have the one and only burst heal in the game with Rushed Ceremony, Sorcs get healing from Crit Surge and Dark Deal, and NB's do their own thing using Funnel Health, maybe Leeching Strikes and they sure use the shit outa Blood Altar (NB's are different animals, and if this is your first tank and you run a NB, I would check out a guide tailored to NB sap tanking). I am leaving Inner Fire out of this discussion because I feel its a more intermediate tanking skill. TLDR: All One hand/ Shield passives, all heavy armor passives, Puncture, Low Slash, a gap closer, a resistance buff, a heal, and any shields you might have will get you started.

Ultimate: The gold standard for ulties is Aggressive Warhorn, morph of Warhorn in the Assault skill line. This, like Vigor requires a PvP investment, though it is easier to attain. When you are starting out, look to your class skill lines, as each class has a decent option for defensive ultimates whether it be Magma Armor (DK), Empowering Sweep (Templar), Suppression/Absorption Field (Sorcs), or Consuming Dawkness (NB). I usually run with one offensive ultimate and one deffensive/utility ie. Dawnbreaker and Warhorn.

Gear: I am simply going to refer you to Woeler's website at woeler.eu. Menu-> general tanking info-> tanking sets should get you there. If your starting with zero gear, have a 5 pc Hist bark crafted set made in all heavy. The five peice bonus grants Major Evasion when you block, which is nice when you pull out of your league and you have to hold the block button to live.

Basic Tactics for dungeons: First, turn on the healthbars for group members. You can select it only to show when they are injured, which helps with your screen real estate between pulls. Then zoom out all the way on your camera. Situational awareness is key. Be at the head of the pack, especially in pugs. People are impatient and will pull for you leaving you running around trying to pick up scattered mobs all over the place (I'm looking at you, sorcs). Know your limitations. If you can solo the dungeon, then by all means sprint from end to end dragging everyone with you. If you cannot, then you need to find a rhythm. I generally start the next pull while the DPS is mopping up the leftovers from the previous pull. DPS are like toddlers, if they are busy they don't have time to fuck up your day.

Positioning is the number one thing that should be in your mind while tanking. I strive to place the mob(s) in between myself and the party, while facing the party. This helps to keep any cleaves etc. headed toward you and not the squishies, and helps with situational awareness. Remember the healthbars? you will be able to see who is in trouble easier with those visual ques and you can gap close and taunt faster if needed.
Almost every boss has an ability that you need to block or it knocks you down causing you to burn stamina to CC break. If you are bad blocking these abilities, put your back to a wall, a big tree, a rock, anything that you think you won't get knocked back through. This will help keep the boss in the same general area for the dps while you shamefully pick yourself up off the ground. So you're tanking whichever boss and a dps dies. It is generally up to the other DPS or healer to pick them up. No need to save the day, just delegate that shit. If two of the party goes down, you want to start thinking about picking one up and getting some seperation from whatever is hitting you. If three go down, you're in for a 15 minute tankathon and praying for an opening to rez someone. Just keep that in the back of your mind.

Fuck White-Gold Tower.

A good place to start cutting your tanking teeth is Wayrest Sewers and Fungal Grotto. Both have heaps and heaps of adds, and their are a few boss mechanics that you have to deal with but none are really show stoppers. The drops heavy pieces that drop in either are not the greatest, but its better than nothing.

TLDR: Sorry, you will have to read that one.

This will be a work in progress. I may edit for clarity and things i forgot to mention.

[Guide] Where to find the Legendary Orcish Throne Blueprints - Peaked, Engraved, Stone

Posted: 15 May 2017 06:03 AM PDT

As promised in my last throne guide, here is a quick rundown on where and how to farm for the Legendary Orcish Throne Blueprints. Also, a big thank you to /u/LaFemminaVolpe for all the help with stalking these Nobles and trying to determine the optimal way to farm these plans.

Blueprints

Getting Started

  • Head to Orsinium!

  • Refer to the map found HERE for the locations of the various Nobles and the Guards that you will encounter in your farming route.

  • Take note of the Outlaw's Refuge, as you will want to know where to scurry off to, should you need to launder one of these blueprints!

The Nobles

  • 1.) This Noble appears to be stalking Noble #2. He can be found peeking around the corner towards #2, or walking back around the back of the building, and staring in the direction of the Outlaw's Refuge. He can be picked and stabbed without being seen when he is near the corner of the building, however you need to watch out for the Outlaw when he is behind the building.

  • 2.) This Noble is standing in the immediate vicinity of a guard. I personally did not waste much time farming this Noble, as the positioning of the guard was not consistent. Some days he is facing away, and some days he just stares at the Noble. Your call.

  • 3.) This Noble spawns either along the wall near the Wayshrine, or down near the water at the top-right of her path. She can easily be picked and euthanized along the right and top portions of her path.

  • 4.) This Noble is the most mobile of the group, and the most time consuming, if you don't pickpocket and euthanize him on the bridge, which is where he spawns. If you wait too long, he will walk a short distance off the bridge and stand off to the right side of the road. He can be picked here, however you will incur a bounty for murder if you try to dispose of him here. He will then continue on the path heading Northeast. If his timing does not coincide with the patrolling Guard, or the Mage that walks this path, then you can Blade of Woe him halfway between where he was just standing, and the intersection he is walking towards.

  • 5.) This Noble spawns at the top of the stairs above the docks, and doesn't stray very far. She is easily picked and snuffed out, although you don't have to be wary of the NPC that spawns on the West side of the building. I generally kill her first and keep her dead. There's no sense in accruing bounties, because she can't mind her own business.

  • 6.) This Noble is located inside the Bank/Fighter's Guild building, in a room off to the left. She is drinking all by herself at the table, and can be picked and quietly shanked, however you do have to keep an eye out for a guard that patrols through this area. I didn't farm this Noble, as I prefer to avoid indoor areas where I can't make an easy escape. Once again, your call.

  • 7.) There are (3) Nobles clustered together inside of Scarp Keep. As soon as you enter, they are on your left. They will move around within that area, however they are really difficult to murder without being seen. I found that the only way to farm these Nobles efficiently is to kill them roughly 2 minutes apart. You will incur a bounty, but if you do it correctly, then they will spawn one at a time, and you can pick and perforate them one at a time, as they spawn. (There is a guard nearby, at the base of the stairs. Apparently he's really nearsighted, as he never once witnessed my murder sprees.)

NOTES

  • As always, pickpocket twice, and then perforate your target's heart with your trusty Blade of Woe.

  • If you find yourself in trouble with the guards, such that they are chasing you with the intent to determine how squishy you are, then you have a couple of options depending on where you are.

  • Nobles #1 & #2: Head South, jump in the water and swim up and under the dock.

  • Noble #3: Head Northeast, and jump in the water and swim away.

  • Nobles #4 & #5: Jump in the water and swim under the bridge at Noble #4's location.

The guards aren't paid enough to deal with that level of shenanigans, and will not follow you.

If you have not seen my other guides, and feel like joining in the treasure hunt, you can find those guides below:

If you have any questions, feel free to hit me up. Otherwise, get out there and happy hunting!

[News] ESO: Morrowind PTS 3.0.4 Patch Notes Readable

Posted: 15 May 2017 07:32 AM PDT

Source

The Elder Scrolls Online v3.0.4 is our last incremental patch on the PTS. In this patch, you'll find that we've continued to make balance adjustments to combat and abilities, and have also continued making fixes affecting Vvardenfell quests, Battlegrounds, Halls of Fabrication, and more.

In order for us to begin testing out the proper permission levels for Early Access, only players who have pre-purchased the Morrowind Digital Upgrade will have access to Morrowind content. All PC players will be able to continue testing the base game and any of the old DLC content, including the balance changes in this patch. Additionally, if you already have a Warden created, you will still be able to access that character and play anywhere except Vvardenfell, Battlegrounds, or Halls of Fabrication.

The size of this final patch is 162MB. Thanks to everyone for all your testing and feedback over the past few weeks. We can't wait to welcome everyone to Morrowind!

KNOWN ISSUES

ALLIANCE WAR

Battlegrounds

  • The Triple Threat achievement is currently awarded the first time you capture a relic in a match, instead of the third time as intended.

  • Killing blow medals are currently set to earn only once per battleground.

EXPLORATION & ITEMIZATION

General

  • If you're wearing a costume, you should avoid sitting in a chair in this patch. There's a high probability of getting stuck.

MORROWIND

ALLIANCE WAR

Battlegrounds

  • You can no longer use the Frozen Gate ability against enemy player characters at their spawn-in locations.

  • Reduced the Kill Streak timers from 20 seconds between kills to 10 seconds between kills.

  • Fixed an issue where you could get into enemy respawn locations in Foyada Quarry.

  • Relics in the Battlegrounds HUD will no longer shift around during a match.

  • The NPCs at the Battleground campsites now talk about the appropriate battleground games.

Achievements

  • The Battleground Dominator achievement is now correctly awarded to every member of the team, instead of sometimes only being awarded to the person who captured the last point.

Rewards

  • Added AP rewards to the Battleground daily quests.

    • Note: During the Midyear Mayhem event, they will also provide Pelinal's Midyear Boon Boxes.
  • You will now receive rewards from Battlegrounds leaderboards.

COMBAT & GAMEPLAY

Warden

  • Animal Companions

    • Fetcher Infection (Swarm morph): Reduced this morph's damage bonus on every other cast to 50% from 75%.
    • Swarm: Increased the damage of this ability and its morphs by 10%.

Developer Comments:

This brings the effectiveness of both morphs closer in line with one another, while also discouraging the need for always casting Fetcher Infection twice in a row.

World Bosses

  • Dubdil Alar now resets when everyone leaves, and also displays his final animations correctly.

CRAFTING & ECONOMY

Motifs

  • The Militant Ordinator style is no longer occasionally referred to as the Ordinator style.

DUNGEONS & GROUP CONTENT

Halls of Fabrication Trial

  • General

    • Divayth Fyr will no longer get so excited that he interrupts his own dialogue.
    • The Assembly General now properly awards loot from Hard Mode.
  • Pinnacle Fabricant

    • The Pinnacle Fabricant will no longer desync his health and appear as though he cannot be defeated.
  • Fabrication Committee

    • Ruined Factotums are now immune to taunt abilities.

Public Dungeons

  • Forgotten Wastes

    • Fixed an issue where the group event could break the first time all participants died or left the area.

HOUSING

Furnishings

  • Temporarily removed the "Banner of House Indoril" and "Indoril Tapestry, House" furnishings. These require some polishing, but you can expect to see them return in the future.

  • Corrected the icon for the "Dwarven Bookcase, Full" asset.

  • The "Dwarven Pew, Refined" and "Dwarven Bench, Forged" furnishings are now sittable.

  • Fixed an issue where several of the new banners and tapestries had collision.

Homes

  • Some previously-static features in the Ald Velothi Harbor House and the Amaya Lake Lodge are now furnishings and can be moved or removed.

  • Swapped in Redoran furnishings to replace some of the other furnishings in the Ald Velothi Harbor House.

Housing Editor

  • The Services category now appears at the top of the Housing Editor category list.

QUESTS & ZONES

General

  • Fixed several issues with NPCs spawning beneath the ground.

Quests

  • Ancestral Adversity: Completing the floor puzzle will no longer reveal the secret door for players not in group.

  • Ashlander Hunting Dailies: Triggering the boss will now be more consistent for everyone.

  • Broken Bonds:

    • The tutorial can no longer be abandoned.
    • Changed the light attack tutorial to better explain how it works.
    • Player characters who skip the tutorial will now be awarded a skill point, similar to those who complete the tutorial.
  • Heart of a Telvanni: Grouped players will no longer become blocked when freeing the slaves.

  • The Magister Makes a Move: Florinna, the tailor's assistant, no longer drops beneath the stairs in Sun-in-Shadow's home. This was previously blocking your quest progression.

UI

Battlegrounds

  • Added a warning message when a battleground is about to shut down due to not having enough players.

  • Updated the help screens for "Medals: Capture the Flag" and "Medals: Domination" to account for updates to the available medals.

BASE GAME PATCH

COMBAT & GAMEPLAY

General

  • Increased the damage of Light Attacks by 15%.

  • Decreased the damage of Heavy Attacks by 15%.

  • Increased the resources restored by fully-charged Heavy Attacks by 30%.

  • Reduced the cast time of fully-charged Bow Heavy Attacks by 10%.

  • Reduced the cast time of fully-charged Flame and Frost Heavy Attacks by 12.5%.

Developer Comments:

There are two goals with all the changes listed above. First, we want the damage difference between Light Attack weaving and Heavy Attack weaving to be more prominent. Light Attacks should be the clear winner when you are trying to maximize damage per second, while Heavy Attacks should deal less damage per second in exchange for restoring resources.

Second, we want to speed up some of the slowest Heavy Attacks while also increasing the amount of resources all Heavy Attacks restore. This should improve the combat feel of winding up some of the slower Heavy Attacks, while also allowing all builds to restore their resources faster and with less Heavy Attacks needed.

  • Fixed an issue where enchantment bonuses were not displaying on items.

  • Fixed an issue where summoned pets were not being affected by the healing reduction of Battle Spirit. They will now all receive 50% less healing in PvP areas.

Dragonknight

  • Ardent Flame

    • Fiery Grip: Reduced the cost of this ability and its morphs by approximately 7%.
  • Draconic Power

    • Inhale: Reduced the cost of this ability and its morphs by approximately 6%.
    • Spiked Armor: Reduced the cost of this ability and its morphs by approximately 16%.

Developer Comments:

We've reduced the cost of the Dragonknight's utility-oriented skills to make their upkeep more in line with other classes.

Nightblade

  • Assassination

    • Grim Focus:

      • You can now fire multiple Assassin's Will or Assassin's Scourge bow procs from a single cast of this ability and its morphs.
      • Increased the amount of Light or Heavy Attacks needed to obtain an Assassin's Will or Assassin's Scourge bow proc to 5 attacks from 4.
    • Merciless Resolve (Grim Focus morph): Reduced the duration of the snare from this morph's Assassin's Will bow proc to 3 seconds from 5 seconds.

Developer Comments:

Allowing you to fire multiple Assassin's Will procs from a single cast of Grim Focus should streamline the ability usage by eliminating the need to recast it early. We've increased the amount of attacks needed to obtain a proc slightly, but the net result should be an increase in Nightblade PvE DPS with the extra global cooldowns.

Sorcerer

  • Daedric Summoning

    • Summon Twilight Matriarch (Summon Winged Twilight morph): Fixed an issue where this morph's heal ability could heal through walls.

Templar

  • Dawn's Wrath

    • Nova: Decreased the time it takes for the nova to land for this ability and its morphs to 0.5 seconds from 0.75 seconds.

Developer Comments:

The power level of this ability didn't justify it having such a long delay. We've shortened the time it takes for it to land to make it easier to hit moving targets.

Weapon

  • Two Handed

    • Forceful: This passive ability now deals splash damage to 3 targets, up from 2, and the splash damage has been increased to 25/50% from 13/25%.

Developer Comments:

This change will improve the area of effect damage of Two Handed builds by giving them similar splash damage to Lightning Staves. Two Handed builds will have stronger Light Attack splash damage, while Lightning Staves will still have the strongest Heavy Attack splash damage.

  • Dual Wield

    • Blade Cloak: Increased the area of effect damage reduction of this ability and its morphs to 25% from 20%.

Developer Comments:

Improving the survivability granted by Blade Cloak will make Dual Wield builds more resilient in Dungeon and Trial encounters where lots of area attacks are used.

Dark Anchors

  • Static Charge will now be removed from you completely when a Dark Anchor is completed.

CRAFTING & ECONOMY

General

  • Fixed an issue that prevented Brewers and Chefs from offering basic recipes for sale to player characters who had not yet discovered Provisioning.

HOUSING

Furnishings

  • The "Redguard Streetlamps, Full" furnishing now has swaying lanterns.

MISCELLANEOUS

General

  • Fixed an issue where your game could crash when visual effects from abilities would activate.

  • Fixed an issue where the video that plays prior to entering the Wailing Prison could hitch.

QUESTS & ZONES

Coldharbour

  • Soul-Shriven in Coldharbour: You will no longer become blocked if you talk to the Mysterious Benefactor and log out before the teleport to Coldharbour is triggered.

[PS4] Few questions about the game and newer patches/meta

Posted: 16 May 2017 02:03 AM PDT

Hey,

Rolled over to PS4 after a long break from the game. - How is gear for PVP generally acquired nowadays? - Is skyreach a lot better grind spot than others? - Should I level my crafting, or focus on getting CP and acquiring gear some other way? - Are XP Potions still worth? - Is templar only viable healer atm and is DK the only tank? - Grind all the way to 50/CPXXX or complete dungeons etc?

I'll update the post, if and when I get more questions.

Really, really thanks in advance, Me.

Steamrolling through Dungeons

Posted: 16 May 2017 03:52 AM PDT

Hi everybody!

I am a fresh CP160 Magic Sorc and am doing some random normal dungeons. Have not yet started Veterans as I want to get better gear first. I see a lot of characters, cp300 or even cp190+ that just steamroll through normal dungeons and do Monster DPS to bosses. I am wondering what Magic Sorc build this would be or what kind of CP points I would need to invest in.

I fould some builds online but don't seem to get close to what they do and wrek the dungeons.

Thank you for any help and guidance :)

Keep getting an error when trying to install the game! (Error 303)

Posted: 15 May 2017 04:09 PM PDT

I've tried a million different things I've read online and off of the ESO website. Every time it says it's installing the 26k MB and the progress bar only goes to about 20%, then it comes up with an error 303. IT says it's a patch error and that the files can't be decompressed properly. Then if I try the "repair" button it just goes for about 5 seconds then another error window pops up and when you hit "okay" the whole launcher just shuts down.

I also can't seem to find any way to actually talk to the developers of the game about it. I just want to either play my damn game I paid $80 for or get my money back. Please help!

I'm trying to install again, one last time and if it messes up again I'll add pictures of the errors.

[PC] Bard Class DLC/Patch Idea

Posted: 15 May 2017 10:28 PM PDT

During a discussion about ESO with some friends on a Discord Server, one friend lamented that ESO did not feature any kind of Bard class, despite in Lore there being a Bard's College. I was instantly hit with images of playing a character who carried a lute on his back, and played music during battle to buff allies and debuff enemies, all the while causing outright damage to the enemy with pure musical power.

Another friend mentioned a new system they could add called Morale, that is raised during battle and can inspire allies to fight harder and cause more damage. Bard's would be very useful in large boss battles. Also, it would be fun for RP if the Bard had the ability to play music outside of battle, so a Bard could go to a tavern or sit with friends and choose a song to play, which everyone will hear in a certain area of affect, either giving small buffs or just lightening the mood.

I for one would love for this to be a feature, and it would appeal to lover's of the classic Bard Class from dungeons and dragons, as well as the Roleplaying Community.

Stam Sorc Gear Question? What's new?

Posted: 15 May 2017 09:52 PM PDT

I'm recently returning to the game, at the time I was playing TBS and Hundings rage were two of the better sets of gear (while also being relatively affordable) for Stam DPS. I invested quite a bit of what I had into a full set of TBS, will I still be putting up decent DPS with the Thief + Warrior, or should I be looking to find a new set?

Also, as a side note, is Black Rose still a good PVP set or has it been nerfed out of the meta?

So i did restart the launcher, same error, then i launch repair, i got this : "Installing error... ABORT: Invalid Memory Size (0) (........\shared\unzipper.c/836)" Which deleted all the "depot" folder (the one with the 28Go). Of course it would not be fun without having to redownloaded everything.

I have 400 Go free on my hard drive and the game requiere 85, I have 8Go Ram. And i know for sure that my config is good since already played that game few years ago.

I watched it online and read this https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/139158/error-303-during-installation, who get me to this https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/139167/invalid-memory-size-and-keep-downloading-5gb#latest, who get me to this https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/173147/error-303.

Tried eveything that was said, none worked. And even at the end, it was a launcher problem, people just had to wait. Is it that again ?

I tried to log here : https://aide.elderscrollsonline.com/app/utils/login?p_next_page=ask (help/support) and it is like the sign in button doesn't exist, like it's just an image with no link ...

Ok i kept cool, so i tried ask for help on the game forum, impossible for sign in too (I think it's different from ESO account) so i tried to register, i now need invitation code, which i don't have after looking all the email i got from them.

It's like nothing work except my log in to https://account.elderscrollsonline.com/users/account (where i get the launcher), i don't have tried but i'm sure that the shop work anyway. Is it possible for a company to be that incompetent or irrespectful ?

It's now the 5th time i deleted everything and download all again (and i don't live in a big city, i can assure you that downloading that much data is a pain in the ass). Now i begin to lose my shit.

I just restarted all over with english launcher. Same trouble ....

Any help or hint would be nice. :)

Why does everyone want a sharpened necro inferno/lightening staff?

Posted: 16 May 2017 01:34 AM PDT

Okay so after grinding for probably 40 hours I fianally got one sharpened necro lightening staff. Then I went and looked up the necro build and it just uses maelstrom staffs or random sharpened staffs. What is the point of people paying so much for sharpened necro staffs they are going for 100k to 400k? Is there some sort of great build that can only be done with a sharpened necro staff?

[News] PC/Mac Patch Notes v2.7.14

Posted: 15 May 2017 04:10 AM PDT

OVERVIEW

The Elder Scrolls Online v2.7.14 is a small incremental patch that fixes two issues that were introduced after last week's patch. Alessio Guillon, who grants the quest Missing Prophecy, has found his pants, grown in his hair and eyebrows, and is now more talkative. We also fixed the issue where many items had lowercase letters when they should be capitalized. The size of this patch is 104MB.

And just for fun, here's Rich's response to me about this week's patch notes:

"104MB for pants...

This is why I never wear them
