League of Legends - Pro Player racism at 2017 MSI

Pro Player racism at 2017 MSI

Posted: 27 Apr 2017 09:27 AM PDT

Hello, the player YoDa from brazilian team Red Canids said in his twitter "Ja passei gritando Flango no quarto de hotel dos japoronga aqui e BR full trab flw" which means a serious racism against the japanese players at MSI. Translating, he insulted the japaneses players of chicken (frango in portuguese, he writte fLango with L insulting even more because in Japanese language they cant pronounce the letter R) and finish calling them of "japoronga", another insult to japanese people in portuguese language. Its a very serious case of racism. Reminds me the LAS Casters racist comments after Bengi game, and Svenskeren at season 4 worlds, those who were punished by Riot. YoDa was the same player who suggested in his stream to everyone troll Korean players when their are in ranked matches in Brazil for the MSI. How the fuck LoL became so big ?

Posted: 27 Apr 2017 02:39 AM PDT

Hi

First of all, i'm a sc2 player, not a hater, i understand why this game is loved and cherished.

But the disproportion is insane. Remember when sc2 was the biggest game with 100K peak without tournament, when dota/hs/csgo/lol wasnt here, LoL get 150K with a lot of competition ( i mean, sc2 was high in 2011 because it was a hollow period, LoL is nomatching every game now )

I watch cyclism a lot, but even it cant reach this amount of viewers without World Tour lol

I know this game is good ( you cant do it without )

But what makes so much difference from other games? You was like 3M for 2016 finals right ? How can you explain that ?

You think it will last for 20 years like brood war?

Sorry for my english +ty

( edit : maybe it was dota with 3M viewers, seems like LoL was about 20M kek )

Brazilian pro Yoda apologizes for racist tweets

Posted: 27 Apr 2017 11:06 AM PDT

Here are the translations to his tweets:

I need to accept that the jokes here are not well seen by foreigners. Sorry about that. The last thing I am is racist :/ - https://twitter.com/stonedyooda/status/857648590860275713

Apparently they took my joke pretty seriously outside Brasil. It was wrong of me to think everybody would think the same way. Sorry. - https://twitter.com/stonedyooda/status/857649319389921280

I'm a public figure and I'll have to accept that kind of judgment. It's a part of it. But a racist is not something I am and who knows me knows that. - https://twitter.com/stonedyooda/status/857649942139162624

Honestly, this guy still should probably be banned from the play-in stage, or at least the first 6 games in case they qualify (and I'm Brazilian).

A Popular Female Korean Streamer Achieved Challenger in the KR Ladder!

Posted: 26 Apr 2017 04:23 PM PDT

... And proves her haters wrong!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiTcZSNgWGc

Skip to the very end to see her promote from Master to Challenger. She plays Anivia and Aurelion Sol mostly—a few weeks ago, people in her chat kept accusing her of getting a man to play for her while she broadcasted her face, so she did a hand-cam on stream to prove it (which she did). She's an amazing talent, and I just wanted to share - Peanut mentioned her on his stream when she was in his game as well.

Edit: The reason why I decided to share this isn't to bring attention to a talented league player "just because she's a girl". It's because of the atrocious shit that I saw in her comment section on stream and on her YouTube videos. This lady faces verbal sexual harassment everyday in unbelievable amounts. Her name is an abbreviation "Best Female Midlaner"... some people purposely came to her stream to call her "Best Vagina Midlaner". She keeps getting these hate messages about how she's boosted when she ha sbeen playing the game by herself - when she proved it was indeed her skill, she ended up breaking down in sobs. It was painful to watch, and I wanted to share something positive and wanted her to see good things and show her some support.

And PS: Please don't shame someone for being good at the game based on their gender. Call me a SJW or White Knight, whatever—I'm just here to support a favorite streamer of mine who does not deserve the toxic shit she still gets. The point is that she shouldn't be getting unnecessary hate and that guess what? Sexism is still a huge fucking problem in this video game.

If you think that me not being a total asshole means that I'm somehow a pretentious actor running around for attention, then you need some serious help.

Last edit: I saw quite a few redditors comment positive, supportive messages on her YouTube vids. Thank you guys :)

How riot cured my test anxiety.

Posted: 27 Apr 2017 04:17 AM PDT

This takes me a week back but I felt the need to share it because I felt like it impacted my performance significantly.

So, around 7 days ago, I had a minor test around 2 p.m that I didn't prep prior to the morning because I was convinced it only needed two hours of preparation considering I went through the exam material prior. But then around 8:30 am, a friend of mine hits me up and starts talking about the exam and how he didn't study anything and he's freaking out and needs help. I calm him down and go back to studying, a little more worried about myself.

A while later, I'm about half way through my revision and I take look back at what I studied and I'm like "Oh god, I don't remember anything." After that begins the dreaded cycle of re-reading definitions and concepts, moving on, forgetting about them and reviewing them, rince and repeat...

2 hours before the test, my brain was going crazy with paranoia and panic, I decide that, for better or worse, I did all I could within the alloted time and that if I head in there with this mentality, I'll get blown up regardless of test difficulty.

So, how do I calm down ? Play a league of legends normal game. (not a smart idea but so was studying something the morning of a test, so it's not like I acted out of character.)

So, I queue up for draft normals, no randoms because I want to play midlane zed because I tried him out recently and liked it a lot.

Queue pops after 3 minutes.

somebody dodged.

Queue pops again.

Autofilled into adc.

Dodge because at that time I wanted to play zed more desperately than a junkie that squeezed his last drop of money on his last fix and is now desperately craving for more.

Wait to restart queue

Queue pops.

Someone dodges again.

Restart queue

Autofilled into jungle.

I decided that I wouldn't take this shit anymore so I turned off my computer and decided to leave early for university.

I was so angry at the game I even forgot I was worried about the test and by the time I calmed down I was already heading home.

Take you riot games for unintentionally saving my day.
