Can we stop giving bad reviews to the DLC for no good reason?

Posted: 29 Mar 2017 05:05 PM PDT

I get the digideluxe is a bit fucked, but the rating system is rating a game/dlc, not how the the company messed up.

All the dlc except the scenario have been wicked so far.

I wish I could Merge Civ 5 and 6 together

Posted: 29 Mar 2017 10:36 AM PDT

Every time I see a screenshot of someone's civ 5 game I miss it. I preferred the less cartoonish look and overall it seems like the game has a lot more depth.

Of course I love the districts and the cards in Civ 6 but it seems like diplomacy is pretty broken. The only way I feel I can compete on Deity is to be a huge warmonger . Of course on the flip side for Civ 5 I never played on Deity but you did pretty much have to rush national college.

Basically that is my rant, if you could take the best features of both games and smash them together it would be awesome.

On a side note are there any Civ-like games that are worth checking out, I had one guy I work with mention Europa Universalis IV?

Lots of lag since Spring Patch?

Posted: 29 Mar 2017 11:23 AM PDT

I've been experiencing an inordinate amount of loading time lag since the Spring patch, during my single player games. It's like every time I end turns or switch between certain menus (like the tech or civics sidebar) there's an extra second or so delay while the game struggles.

It seems to effect modded games much more severely than non-modded ones, which is also a bit of a bummer.

I'm curious if anyone else if experiencing the same problems since the Spring patch?

Coastal cities are strong after patch!

Posted: 29 Mar 2017 03:33 AM PDT

The harbor buff is pretty nice and finally lighthouse giving food yield to coastal tiles is what I been waiting for! With the civic card that adds +100% adjacency to harbor district they can act as industrial zones at the same time as giving gold!

And England is just insane now with the their buffs in the recent patch getting access to 2 trade route per city instead of 1! Don't forget another district next to the harbor with the civic card and seaport can be an easy 2 production.

Edit: Comments said some facts how commerce+harbor adjacency work, reflected it into op

Did a Persia game yesterday, here are my thoughts.

Posted: 29 Mar 2017 06:40 AM PDT

I spent my tuesday playing Civilization >:). Did a Cyrus run on King with a standard Continents map. Persia is geared towards a Domination/Cultural victory. I played mostly peacefully, without declaring any wars, and built up cities with internal trade routes. The result was more gold than I knew what to do with, an easy time surviving my insane Arabian neighbor, and a complete culture tree by turn 300.

If I was going to go for domination (and I likely will on my next game), Immortals would be an amazing rush unit. They replace swordsmen, have a powerful ranged attack, and do not require iron (:O). Even on defense, they are very powerful. I'd say its probably worth building more warriors in the early game than usual, as these guys are nuts.

Religion doesn't seem to be worth it for them, however the Divine Spark pantheon is very nice to have. Since Holy Sites boost Pairidaezas, religion might be useful for its effect on tourism, but I wouldn't call it necessary.

Internal trade routes are super, super strong, especially if you use the economic policies that boost that. You can have +4 gpt and +1 cpt each from the moment you unlock trade routes. When you get to late game, and unlock the policies that boost international trade tourism, gold and production, I found it to be worth maintaining my internal network, while shifting any "extra" traders to international.

Persia is a great addition to the game and I'm excited to play a few more games with them!

What are your Advanced Setup customizations?

Posted: 29 Mar 2017 03:15 PM PDT

With the new DLC and patch having just hit I'm about to dive back in and play a game or two. This time I'd like to customize my game a bit.

To this end I am curious to know how the rest of you customize your games in Advanced Setup. I am specifically interested in Civ 6, but if you like you're free to share your customizations for the previous installments.

  • Do you disable any victory conditions?

  • What are your map and map option customization preferences?

  • How about turn limits and game speed?

  • Thoughts on the number of city states?

  • Anything else you have to say!

Looking forward to your answers!

Interested in finishing multiplayer games without sitting down for 6 hours at a time? Look no further!

Posted: 29 Mar 2017 06:10 PM PDT

Hey everyone, somewhat recently I started a subreddit, a discord, and a steam group called Civ 6 Long Games. The idea is to organize multiplayer games that won't be finished all at once, but can be finished over multiple playsessions so that people don't need 6 hours all at once to finish a game.

The Subreddit is /r/Civ6LongGames

The link to join there discord is here

The link to the steam group is here

There have been a few of us trying to organize some games in the discord already, but it would be even easier with more people. Come join us for some Civ games!

PSA: New patch causes severe lag in MP games, please share you experiences here .

Posted: 29 Mar 2017 09:27 AM PDT

I am aware that new patches will bring new bugs, but this one is a multiplayer killer. Multiple instances of heavy lag during and between turns has been noticed in more than 10 games run at our discord server since the new spring patch. Games before the patch ran rather smooth with over 400 logged. Please share your experiences so we can make firaxis aware of the problem and hopefully issue a hotfix! Thanks!

Do you guys use mods? - Nope! We play the game Vanilla. However, we also have a custom game lobby where players use mods sometimes.

What timezone do you guys play in? - We are the largest Global League. I'm sure you'll find players at any time of the day.

Do I have to stay in the game the entire time, even if I'm losing? - Nope! You can leave games if you lose 2/3rds of your cities, lose your capital or are voted irrelevant by the rest of the group you're playing with. We won't force you to play if you're not having fun but can't ruin the game for everyone else.

Do I have to use Voice Chat? - Nope! You can communicate using the text lobby. It might be harder to get into games if you don't message the host though.

Do I need DLC? - Nope! but other players who have it will be able to use it in Multiplayer unless it's banned.
