Taco's Postgame Analysis Should Be Shorter

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 03:01 PM PST

Let me start by saying that I'm not at all hating on Taco and I really like that she's doing this postgame analysis. However, I find that I enjoy the first minute or two of it and then start zoning out because it feels like she starts running out of topics. I think that she's doing a really good job but there's only so much you can say about a single SPL match. If her analysis can be shorter and more focused, I think it'll be much more enjoyable and will better represent the highlights of the match.

And Hirez, please give her a desk or at least furnish the room.

Use code OWMYFEELINGS for Inuki Announcer Pack, Available until 4PM EST

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 10:01 AM PST

If you're going to keep dropping AP codes, could you drop some for DM and Drybear's APs. Please?

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 11:22 AM PST

I got into Smite just in time to miss the cut off for the 2015 Odyssey so I missed out on all the APs and that Thanatos skin (I can deal with not having that.) Years later, I have since dropped several hundred dollars on the game, but I still want the DM and Drybear announcer packs.

For me, DM, although he is such a colorful character, he was the voice of the SLP for me in those seasons. His and Drybears announcer packs were also featured in a lot of youtube videos as well when I first started really getting into smite.

TL;DR, If you're gonna keep dropping codes for announcer packs, maybe throw those who wish to finish off their collection a bone and drop some DM and Drybear APs. Much much love <3

It's S4, can we turn Bringing Down the Law and Bird Bomb into Career Achievements ALREADY?

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 11:04 AM PST

The Tyr and Odin achievements Bringing Down the Law and Bird Bomb are ridiculous.

They both require you to kille 15 gods trough either Tyr's Ultimate or Odin's Bird Bomb Combo, and they both require you to do so IN THE SPAN OF A SINGLE MATCH.

It's ridiculous, especially when we have similar achievements like Feel the Rush or Rallly Here! who require only 10 kills with Ravana's or Bellona's ultimate IN THE SPAN OF YOUR ENTIRE SMITE CAREER.

Even combo achievements only ask for something like 3 (Nox's and assissts count too) or even just 1 combo kill in a match (Vulcan's).

TL;RD: Those two achievements are ridiculous and need to become career achievements, otherwise they'll never be available for people.

Unofficial stats for SPL 2017 week 1

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 04:01 PM PST

One week down in the spring split and it was a doozy. NRG got 2-0'd! WTF?!? Luminosity, Eager, and Valance dominated their games. Baskin looked great in mid, andinster not so much. It's still extremely early, but here are the stats for SPL 2017 so far:

Gods not yet picked or banned in SPL :

  • Agni
  • Ah Puch
  • Anubis
  • Ao Kuang
  • Arachne
  • Ares
  • Athena
  • Bakasura
  • Chang'e
  • Chiron
  • Chronos
  • Guan Yu
  • Hades
  • He Bo
  • Hel
  • Kali
  • Kumbhakarna
  • Kuzenbo (not yet available)
  • Loki
  • Ne Zha
  • Nox
  • Nu Wa
  • Osiris
  • Raijin
  • Skadi
  • The Morrigan
  • Xbalanque
  • Zhong Kui

Freya, Nike, Aphrodite, and Cupid haven't been played but they have been banned.

Highest god participation:

  • Ratatoskr (2-0 in solo, 3-4 in jungle, 6 bans, 93.75% participation)
  • Thoth (2-1 in mid, 12 bans, 93.75%)
  • Sylvanus (3-3 in support, 8 bans, 87.5%)
  • Zeus (4-4 in mid, 2 bans, 62.5%)
  • Khepri (2-3 in support, 5 bans, 62.5%)
  • Hercules (0-3 in solo, 7 bans, 62.5%)
  • Poseidon (4-4 in mid, 1 ban, 56.25%)
  • Rama (4-3 in ADC, 2 bans, 56.25%)
  • Apollo (2-1 in ADC, 6 bans, 56.25%)
  • Serqet (1-1 in jungle, 7 bans, 56.25%)
  • Cabrakan (3-2 in solo, 2-0 in jungle, 0-1 in support, 0 bans, 50%)
  • Izanami (2-1 in ADC, 0-1 in mid, 4 bans, 50%)

Thoth had the most bans by far, but wasn't particularly impactful when played. The rat worked out pretty well.

Gods by role - Solo

  • Xing Tian (1-0, 12.5 KDA)
  • Fenrir (1-0, 10.0)
  • Terra (1-0, 7.5)
  • Ratatoskr (2-0, 5.0)
  • Bastet (1-0, 4.5)
  • Odin (1-0, 4.0)
  • Vamana (2-0, 3.8)
  • Tyr (3-1, 3.7)
  • Sobek (0-1, 2.5)
  • Cabrakan (3-2, 2.1)
  • Ravana (0-1, 1.3)
  • Camazotz (0-1, 1.1)
  • Sun Wukong (1-2, 0.9)
  • Bellona (0-1, 0.7)
  • Chaac (0-2, 0.7)
  • Hercules (0-3, 0.5)
  • Thanatos (0-1, 0.5)
  • Erlang Shen (0-1, 0.3)

I would not have guessed that Cabrakan would be the most often-played Solo laner. Still too early to really see where this meta is going, but there were a LOT of different gods played in solo. Will be interesting to see how this changes throughout the split.

Gods by role - Jungle

  • Cabrakan (2-0, 11.5 KDA)
  • Hun Batz (4-1, 4.0)
  • Serqet (1-1, 3.6)
  • Awilix (2-2, 3.6)
  • Nemesis (1-0, 3.5)
  • Thor (1-1, 2.5)
  • Ratatoskr (3-4, 2.3)
  • Fenrir (1-0, 2.2)
  • Mercury (0-2, 1.8)
  • Susano (1-3, 1.3)
  • Thanatos (0-2, 0.4)

Cabra was the most often-played solo laner and had the highest KDA amongst junglers. MAYAN FTW! Hun Batz did Hun Batz things and it worked. Ratatoskr was the most often played, to mixed results. In jungle, as in solo, Thanatos did not live up to the hype.

Gods by role - Mid

  • Scylla (2-0, 7.0 KDA)
  • Ra (3-1, 5.4)
  • Janus (1-0, 4.0)
  • Thoth (2-1, 3.4)
  • Zeus (4-4, 3.2)
  • Poseidon (4-4, 2.1)
  • Isis (0-1, 1.0)
  • Kukulkan (0-2, 1.0)
  • Vulcan (0-2, 0.6)
  • Izanami (0-1, 0.1)

Zeus and Poseidon were the most common picks, by far, but Scylla and Ra had good showings. Izanami was the only hunter played in Mid and it did not work.

Gods by role - Support

  • Amaterasu (3-0, 13.3 KDA)
  • Erlang Shen (2-0, 3.6)
  • Fafnir (4-1, 3.3)
  • Bacchus (1-2, 2.4)
  • Sobek (0-1, 1.2)
  • Sylvanus (3-3, 1.1)
  • Geb (1-2, 1.1)
  • Odin (0-2, 0.8)
  • Cabrakan (0-1, 0.7)
  • Khepri (2-3, 0.6)
  • Ymir (0-1, 0.1)

The beefy solo laner gods that didn't perform well there this week did show up well in support roles. Sylvanus was the tank of choice though, which still seems weird to me because he continues to be a god that you can just focus and kill pretty easily.

Gods by role - ADC

  • Anhur (2-1, 9.3 KDA)
  • Apollo (2-1, 7.7)
  • Ullr (4-2, 6.6)
  • Izanami (2-1, 6.1)
  • Neith (0-1, 6.0)
  • Ah Muzen Cab (1-0, 5.0)
  • Medusa (1-3, 2.6)
  • Rama (4-3, 2.0)
  • Hou Yi (0-1, 1.2)
  • Artemis (0-1, 0.8)
  • Jing Wei (0-1, 0.8)
  • Sol (0-1, 0.2)

Finally, in s4, we at long last are starting to see some variety in the ADC role. AMC got played! And not in a troll game! I think that's the first time in SPL history, at least since I started watching at the COG Prime/Titan worlds. Ullr looked great this week, and Apollo has returned from his 1 year ban to show he's still got it. Anhur is still Anhur, OP with everything in his kit but not quite excelling enough at any one thing to get nerfed. The only non-hunter in ADC this week was Sol, and that flame went out quickly. The only hunters to not get played were Chiron, Cupid, and Xbal, but at least Cupid saw some bans. I have a feeling we'll see Xbal before long, but Chiron is still waiting for a buff.

Pantheon records & participation

  • Egyptian 12-13, 48.0%, 36 bans, 61 total picks/bans, 2.26 KDA
  • Norse 20-13, 60.6%, 27 bans, 60 total, 2.77
  • Greek 14-16, 46.7%, 23 bans, 53 total, 2.39
  • Roman 6-13, 31.6%, 25 bans, 44 total, 1.23
  • Mayan 12-11, 52.2%, 4 bans, 27 total, 2.58
  • Japanese 6-5, 54.5%, 7 bans, 18 total, 2.91
  • Hindi 6-4, 60.0%, 4 bans, 14 total, 2.30
  • Chinese 4-5, 44.4%, 1 ban, 10 total, 1.98
  • Celtic 0-0, n/a, no bans, 0 total, n/a

No one has brought out The Morrigan yet, so it's a no-show for the Celtic pantheon. The Chinese pantheon is hurting right now after the nerf to Jing Wei and odd absence of Guan Yu. The Norse pantheon seems very strong, topping out win rate and coming 2nd in KDA and participation.

Top player KDA by role-Solo

  • Aquarius 1.00
  • Dimi 0.64
  • Uzzy 0.50
  • Benji 0.38
  • TheDarkDodo 0.08

The order here is pretty similar to what we're used to, aside from the shocking beatdown put on NRG at the hands of Obey Alliance. Very excited to see how that rivalry plays out over the course of the split. Benji also had a dismal performance in week 1, as Soar got trounced heavily by Eager. Also of note is the very solid performance by relative unknown Eruzies for Enemy.

Top player KDA by role-Jungle

  • Homiefe 0.81
  • Weak3n 0.75
  • iceicebabyy 0.72
  • elchapo 0.42
  • MikeTheMagikarp 0.30

Masked and Cherryo put on clinics in week 1, going 8/1/27 and 1/0/18 respectively. Masked also managed a kill participation of 87.5%, best of any jungler. Adapting put forth the best KDA on his team, no surprise, but at 1.75 it's about 5-6 full points below what we're used to seeing from him.

Top player KDA by role-Mid

  • MLCSt3alth 1.00
  • andinster 1.00
  • MrSt3fan 0.60
  • Yammyn 0.57
  • Incon 0.50

PrettyPriMe absolutely DESTROYED in mid this week, racking up 10 kills and 20 assists to only 1 death. His opponent, Yammyn, went a combined 1/7/6. What a turn of events. A couple big names in new roles, Baskin and andinster, had wildly different results with Baskin going 13/2/18 while andinster went 3/6/6. We can expect andinster's numbers to improve, but if Baskin is still very raw, as he claims, it's going to be scary to see how good he gets when he acclimates to the role.

  • PolarBearMike 0.44
  • Wubbn 0.42
  • DeathPanter 0.33
  • iRaffer 0.28

iRaffer at the bottom of the list is a shock. PainDeViande (despite rumored retirement/move to coach) came out big in week 1 vs Noble. Frezzyy (fka PANDALIKE) had a rough go of it, but his replacement in Obey EmilZy went 3/2/33.

  • Nika 0.67
  • Xenotronics 0.50

Holy crap, Zapman! And against Soar, who should be no slouches. Snoopy managed a 9/1/16 slashline despite playing one of his 2 games as Ah Muzen Cab... just wow. I was shocked that a pro team wouldn't feast on AMC, given the opportunity, but they pretty much let him run wild.

  • Soar 0.67
  • FlashPoint 0.65
  • Sanguine 0.36

Valance absolutely dominated Sanguine, and Luminosity pretty much had their way with FlashPoint after a slow start, but Eager and Obey put up great numbers against really strong competition. Looking forward to the rest of the split to see how this develops. Do we have new champs in the making or will NRG turn it around and continue their domination?

EDIT: Corrected a typo on my part, I had Duck3y playing Amaterasu instead of Bellona in game 1. Thanks to JiMMyCCuDDa for pointing it out!

Infographic | 2017 SPL Spring Split Week One

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 05:39 PM PST

The first week of the 2017 SPL Spring Split was interesting, to say the least. As such, here's an infographic containing this week's standings, results, god and players statistics!

If that link doesn't fit well, you can check out Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4, or one that is half the size of the original.

If you're interesting in the data, feel free to take a look at my spreadsheet.

And if you couldn't tell, the infographic is heavily based off of the one for NA LCS, the equivalent of the SPL in League of Legends. I felt that Smite needed the same thing so here we are. :)

Other than that, if you have any feedback on how to improve on the infographic itself, please tell me. Thanks!

Why is my Flair suddenly Mercury?

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 04:15 PM PST

I could have just changed it, but it's still labeled as Medusa and I feel like this might not be the best solution.

EDIT: Fixed, confirmed. Thanks everybody for participating in this month's Reddit Flair Shuffle, hope you tune in next time!

I was watching a video of beta smite and I noticed something odd and it brought back memories. Jungle fog. It might not seem like much, but it adds an eerie feeling to the jungle and makes everything seem more condensed. It makes the jungle feel like an actual jungle, ominous, instead of just another lane that has odd pathing. Small change, but would add a lot back.

[God Concept] Hera, Queen of Olympus

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 01:55 PM PST

Hera, being one of my remaining 5 gods on my wishlist, has to be one of my best concepts. As such, I keep her updated to make sure the kit works and isn't broken, as well as the artwork being up to date.

Primary List of Concepts
Secondary List of Concepts

Pantheon: Greek
Class: Guardian
Subclass: Support
Type: Ranged, Magical
Pros: Good Crowd Control, team support with auras.
Cons: Low mobility, close-range combat.

In Greek mythology, Hera is the queen of the gods and guardian of marriage, women, and family. She is often portrayed in a negative light for her usual outbursts at Zeus, smiting the children he produces as he goes. Notable victims of Hera include Hephaestus, Heracles, and Leto.

In SMITE she would be a Guardian who uses her utility-based abilities to help allies. Hera uses her lotus staff to fire projectile orbs. She has a long train on her dress made of peacock feathers that trails behind her. Her personality is that of a queen but also of a harsh ruler, encouraging her team with stern words. She is constantly accompanied by two cuckoos who aid her by carrying her train when she moves in certain animations, tending to her hair, and other various things. After being idle for too long and in her backing animation, Hera snaps her fingers and summons her throne out of thin air which she sits down upon until moving again, snapping to send it off. Her intimidating posture makes her a terrifying god to face.

APPEARANCE

MATRIARCH RECOLOR

Passive - Matrimony

  • Hera empowers her allies with auras that spawn around her after using an ability, providing allies in a 20ft radius with the aura. The aura scaling will deplete by 1% for every 10% health she loses.

Ability I - Regality

  • Hera taps her staff on the ground, causing a targeted area of 20ft to tremor. Enemies in the area take damage and are rooted. This activates her Regal aura, causing her staff to glow white. Allies within her radius gain attack and movement speed. The aura's icon is shown as a white cow.
Damage: 60/100/140/180/220 (+60% of your magical power)
    Root Duration: 1.5s
    Attack Speed: 15%
    Movement Speed: 14%
    Cost: 70
    Cooldown: 14s

Ability II - Monarch's Safeguard

  • Hera causes her passive radius to become surrounded in a forcefield. Hera and allies inside gain 5/10/15/20/25% CC reduction and 10/15/20/25/30% damage reduction from all sources. This lasts for 5s. This activates her Monarch aura, causing her staff to glow blue. Allies within her radius gain a portion of Hera's protections as their own. The aura's icon is shown as a blue peacock.
    Passive Protections: 10/12/14/16/18%
    Cost: 84/86/88/90/92
    Cooldown: 20s

Ability III - Death Do Us Part

  • Hera targets a single god, connecting them with the nearest god of the same team within 40ft. If she selects an enemy, the two enemies will be connected. When one enemy suffers CC or damage, the connected enemy takes 50% of it. If she selects an ally, the two allies will be connected. If one ally is healed or buffed, the connected ally shares the same healing/buff at 50%. At any point in time, Hera may use the ability again to slam two connected enemies at a mid point, stunning both of them for 1s and dealing damage, ending the tether. The tether lasts for 4s or until the two gods grow 60ft apart. This activates her Marriage aura, causing her staff to glow gold. Allies within her radius gain crit chance and/or magical penetration. The aura's icon is shown as a gold lion.
    Passive Crit Chance: 10%
    Passive Magical Penetration: 10%
Slam Damage: 80/130/180/230/280 (+40% of your magical power)
    Cost: 95/90/85/80/75
    Cooldown: 22/21/20/19/18s

Ultimate - Queen of Olympus

  • Depending on which aura Hera currently has active, this ultimate will perform 3 different actions:

  • Queen of Olympus: With her Regal aura active, Hera taps her staff on the ground and hyperbuffs all allies within a 30ft radius, granting them attack speed, movement speed, and power for 6s.

  • Sovereign of Olympus: With her Monarch aura active, Hera buffs all allies and allied structures on the map, granting them 5/10/15/20/25% of her protections for 6s.

  • Despot of Olympus: With her Marriage aura active, Hera releases all of her jealous rage in a 45ft area. Enemies take damage and have their protections reduced by 4/8/12/16/20% for 6s.
    Queen Attack Speed: 40%
    Queen Movement Speed: 30%
    Queen Power: 20%
Despot Damage: 100/120/140/160/180 (+80% of your magical power)
    Cost: 110
    Cooldown: 110

Feedback is of course welcome. Hera is one of the 5 god concepts that I hold at a higher standard because I want them to stand out and be the best out of my many.

As for Hera's ultimate, it is still up for ideas. For now I would call the ultimate a temporary idea, as it's a quick idea I had a while back and I haven't been able to think of something fitting since. If you have an idea for it, let me know!

Enjoy!
