My early and stupid thoughts of Hearthstone

Posted: 17 Dec 2016 10:47 PM PST

Hello everybody, to celebrate my 1st year of playing Hearthstone i'd like to share some of my early thoughts on it, some are stupid ideas i had, WoW related expectations, etc. Enjoy! (or not).

  • What the fuck is this Life Tap bullshit? Why would i want to make damage to myself to draw a card? Blizzard pls (Main reason i did not play warlock the first few months).
  • Why in the bloadsoaked protestant hell does Jaina play with a bunch of fucking robots? She's a goddamn mage not an engineer (rant about mech mage)
  • Hmmm, this Rexxar dude has some nice beast synergy, i bet if i put all beasts in a single deck would make a great deck! So smart! I'll reach rank 5 tomorrow (My first deck).
  • Say what? Anduin can heal his minions and HIMSELF, this is the most broken shit i've heard in my 2 hours of playing this, it's like, cheating or something m8 (how did i become main priest, it was love at first heal).
  • I wish i had a lot of legendaries so i can make a deck full of them and crush people on ladder cause it's common knowledge that the more legendaries you have the better the deck (My great deck building thought process here).
  • This Mysterious Challenger dude seems like a fun and interesting card, great job Blizzard! (I watched the friend that introduced me to HS play this and seemed like a well designed card in my eyes)
  • I FUCKING HATE THIS NONE OF YOUR BUSSINESS GUY GOD FUCKING DAMNIT (me, one week later playing ladder).
  • Why the hell would i want to craft this Bloodmage Thalnos doot? It's like, a worst kobold with card draw insta dust lmao (currently saving dust to craft him).
  • The fuck is this golden Brawl spell? it kills my own minions too? literally unplayable, ez dust (dust used to craft Cabal Shadow Priest).
This pretty much sums up the majority of what i can remember, thanks for reading and share your stupids thoughts if you feel like it.
PD: Sorry for bad english, not my native language, feel free to
bashcorrect me.

Streamer Sundays Weekly Discussion

Posted: 17 Dec 2016 04:07 PM PST

Do you enjoy watching streamers? Do you wish there was an easier way to find new up-and-coming streamers beyond the well-known, established Twitch goliaths?
Do you have a stream yourself? Are you looking to get exposure but not sure how given how Twitch displays streams and how one-shot stream promotion posts on Reddit tend to get ignored? Is anyone still reading these questions?
This thread is for you!
If you are a streamer or know of a cool, lesser-known (read: doesn't regularly pull in 1K+ viewers) streamer feel free to post the URL and a short, informative pitch about why you feel others would be interested to watch it. Why should someone watch your suggested stream rather than one of the hundreds of other streams out there?
The next great streamer might be just one comment away.
Enjoy!

Reynad just made a disgusting read and play against Lifecoach

Posted: 17 Dec 2016 03:15 PM PST

Sacrifices his Patches, seemingly for nothing, to play around the Potion of Madness. Leaves Lifecoach with basically nothing to do.

A few days before MSOG, I made a thread asking you about your predictions. Out of more than 1000 comments, only four mentioned Small Time Buccaneer, and none of them called it unbalanced. Now everyone complains about it. Lets face it r/hearthstone: we suck at predicting cards.

Thread in question. To be fair, a lot of you did call out Patches.
Also, most people massively overestimated Jade Idol and White Eyes. Wishful thinking I guess

A recent opponent would like to be your friend...

Posted: 17 Dec 2016 10:07 AM PST

Does anyone else accept these friend requests hoping to get flamed? I get so much enjoyment out of watching these people who are so worked up calling me everything they can think of and saying they hope I get in a car accident. I see a lot of comments on here that say they don't want to accept a friend request because they're afraid of getting flamed. I can't be the only one who finds it hilarious and actually hopes for it when I get the message, can I?

One month ago, u/leithz6 said they would drink their own piss if Felfire Potion had a different animation to Hellfire

Currently awaiting follow-up from u/leithz6
Original comment: (Permalink, Imgur)
It'll have the same animation as hellfire, but green.
If not, I'll drink my own piss.
Comparison of animations: Felfire Potion (3:33), Hellfire (7:15)
Pretty clearly, even discounting the potion vial, the animations are different. Hellfire radiates out in a wave from the hero, where Felfire hits the whole board at once. They were almost on the money though, as it appears that the animation is identical to Dread Infernal/Demonwrath's, so bad luck I guess.

By which I mean, The Asian Hair Streak
Aya for reference
Not necessarily a good or bad thing; it's just interesting that this trope extends to non-human characters as well.

The progression of Jade Golem card artwork seems really off. There are 4 art templates, and the last one doesn't show up until the 20/20 token.

Posted: 17 Dec 2016 01:49 PM PST

The Jade Golem artwork progression is:
  • 1/1 through 3/3 (3 golems)
  • 4/4 though 6/6 (3 golems)
  • 7/7 through 19/19!! (12 golems)
  • 20/20 through 30/30 and beyond. (unlimited golems)
Almost three weeks later, it's absolutely clear that no real Hearthstone game will ever see a 20/20 Jade Golem get summoned.
I think the final Jade Golem artwork should be adjusted down to be seen on the 12/12 token at the very least if not lower. You've almost definitely won/lost the game at that point, but at least you will see Mr. Ubergolem at least once every few games.
I'm sure Blizzard has the statistics about the average maximum Jade Golem summoned in a deck with X amount of Jade Golem cards so they could balance this properly.
All I know is that 20/20 Jade golems NEVER get summoned right now. In fact, the only time I've ever even seen that card art is the Jade Golem gif on the Jade Lotus page during the reveal week. If I hadn't seen that gif, I wouldn't even know that art existed.
(I'm sure whoever produced that final Jade Golem card art is a sad
pandagolem right now.)

The card I'm going to miss most next standard rotation is Brann Bronzebeard

Posted: 17 Dec 2016 01:06 AM PST

I don't know about all you guys but me personally I'm going to miss Brann more than Reno or Thaurissan. The reason I say this is that no matter what deck I make, Brann seems to fit so perfectly. Dragon priest? Heck yeah, buff my dragons more. Any Jade Golem deck? Thank you for the extra Golem! Reno Decks? Sure give me a second Kazakus potion! Even Evolve shaman? I would love to evolve my minions twice (always into AcidMaw). I'm not saying he will fit into every deck, for example a N'Zoth deck, but he seems like such a easy card to include and gets insane value most of the time you play him. He even comes with a soft taunt because no opponent will let a Brann live another turn. I'm really going to miss all of the fun and unexpected uses I get of Brann each time I play him, but that's just my opinion, what is yours?
