General

  • Buyback respawn time penalty changed from +25% of remaining time to +25s always
  • Level 2 XP requirement changed from 200 to 230 (in a scenario where Team A gets 2 melee denies per wave, and team B gets 1 melee deny per wave: Team A wave requirement for level 2 increases from 2 waves to 3 waves. Team B wave requirement remains at 3 waves. Total XP needed for other levels unchanged. )
  • Glyph is now on cooldown until the 3 minute timer in-game

Item Updates

  • Stout Shield: Damage block for melee heroes increased from 18 to 20
  • Ring of Aquila: Bonus damage reduced from 10 to 7
  • Mekansm: Heal increased from 250 to 275
  • Guardian Greaves: Heal increased from 250 to 275
  • Urn of Shadows: Heal rate reduced from 35 to 30
  • Spirit Vessel: Heal rate reduced from 35 to 30
  • Spirit Vessel: Movement speed bonus reduced from 30 to 20
  • Scythe of Vyse: Manacost increased from 100 to 250
  • Phase Boots: Speed bonus on ranged heroes reduced from 16% to 13%

DK was the "worst" hero on the TI main stage. Here's my opinion why.

Hi, I play and watch a lot of DK and have posted my DK guide on a few occasions. I was amused that DK had a terrible showing on the TI main stage. Is the hero terrible, was he played poorly, or did he just get unlucky? I'd argue a mix of the latter two. But since we can't do anything about luck, we'll just focus on how I think he was played poorly. Three lessons:

  1. Build damage items. VGJ.Storm vs OG At 15 min DK's team is 6k gold ahead. What does Yawar do with his advantage? He drops 4k gold on a Hood and Blink, tries to make initiation plays and tank for his team, fails, and then his team loses the lead and gets outcarried by PL, whose illusions he can't kill because he isn't doing any damage. DK ends the 44:30 min game with a pathetic 15.5k damage. What he should have done is gone Drum or Armlet into BKB and then Mjollnir and let someone else initiate (or simply let the enemy initiate on him).
  2. Play DK mid. Liquid vs Optic EG got outdrafted hard and CCnC played poorly mid, but this game is still a great example of how safe lane DK frequently equals low impact DK. They put him in the safe lane to counter the offlane Clinkz and Lich, but DK is not a farmer and is fairly reliant on getting levels, which is going to be very hard to do in a dual lane let alone against a Lich. DK is fine mid against Alch. DK can usually free farm and pressure Alch, meanwhile you can put a better carry in the safe lane.
  3. Don't play solo mid versus Huskar. VP vs Optic: Optic last picks Huskar. What can Noone do? Get a few creep kills with Breathe Fire as he gets outfarmed and outleveled hard. Huskar is DK's worst lane matchup and probably the only hero that can potentially zone you out at level 1. If you know that the enemy mid has last pick and it looks like a great huskar game (e.g, your team has low physical damage, few stuns, and few disarms) then do NOT pick DK.

Notes: * I do think Hood should be rushed versus Necrophos mid but not much else. * Safe lane and offlane DK aren't always bad, they're just usually inferior. * Other mid heroes to avoid playing solo against are Arc Warden, Ursa, Bloodseeker, and Slark.

Title says most of it. This item isn't done and I feel a little cheated we just went an entire year without any build paths. Hopefully we see some interesting abilities for the new items after all this wait.

Should I forget about Tinker until he gets directly or indirectly buffed?

So I started spamming quite a bit of Tinker for the last couple of months, then he became rather popular in the pro scene, so his laser cd and aghs upgrade got nerfed, as well as his movement speed. But I kept playing him because I liked the hero and wanted to become good with him.

And now with 7.19b, Scythe of Vyse mana cost was increased from 100 to 250, which is a lot (Rearm already costs 300 mana). It might not be THAT big of a deal (possibility to end a game even before purchasing hex), but I feel like all these successive nerfs will lead to me not playing him anymore until he gets buffed (the same thing happened to me when Omniknight got nerfed)

I am aware that most people are happy about the nerfs because 99% of the community hates Tinker, but I love that hero.

Staying out of vision during tree jump as mk.

I am still not 100% certain that I'm out of vision while tree jumping in various situations. Can someone explain what does and does not give vision of mk? Are you considered a flying unit while in air or on a tree? I've blown a few ganks where I jumped in enemy vision unknowingly.

LC is my new favorite hero. She does great from the first minute and can easily snowball into a monster late game. Anyways, smart enemies gets linkens to effectively stop me from dueling them. I have the same problem when playing SB.

Is there any way to get around this issue with LC? Is there some very cheap item that resets the CD of linkens that I can use before duels? How about with SB?

PLaying mk vs veno.

Veno is a pain to play against. His dot disables your jump and his slows make getting jingu harder. Is bkb a necessity or just phase sny to counter the slows?

How does arc warden look in the current meta?

I want to spam a high skill cap hero that can gain me mmr reliably provided I'm good with the hero. I enjoy spamming heroes, it's my style of dota. I like to one trick :D. Will arc warden be worth my time in his current state? I am legend 4. Also I am aware that spamming any hero can gain you mmr if you get good enough with the hero. I just want a hero that is very efficient with the time spent grinding (like meepo or invoker).

Winning mid vs dk.

So far I've been able to kill dk in lane early with lina and mk but he still sits in lane and farms with fire with the extra regen. What hero can completely zone out a dk and force him to abandon lane?

Battlefury on safelane mk necessary or situational?

I can dominate lanes with a slight help in the initial 5 mins, but wen I do go battlefury on mk, I feel like I hit my timings for mk all wrong.. What would be a normal build for a safelane mk and midlane mk? I normally go treads, bf, sb, bkb, (Manta) mkb, skadi or butter on safelane. for midlane, I go phase echo sb but then I fall off.. Wat am I doing wrong and Wat can I do better? What do u guys think abt sny?
