A way to deny by pressing force attack while mousing over friendly creep? Posted: 04 Sep 2018 04:42 PM PDT Hi, I was wondering if there was a way to deny/attack a friendly creep by pressing the force attack key while mousing over it instead of having to press force attack then click on the creep. I saw the option for being able to right click on a friendly creep to deny but I feel like that will cause mistakes compared to what I want to be able to do so I figured I'd ask to see if it's possible. Posted: 04 Sep 2018 10:13 AM PDT Have you guys tried this before? My build was Treads / Aquila / Diffusal and join every team fight since then. I dunno guys. Strangely enough, it felt insanely strong. [link] [comments] |

Any tips for learning how to use a bunch of items with actives? Posted: 04 Sep 2018 04:08 PM PDT Pretty much the title. I'm transitioning from League and still pretty new, and in league you usually only have 1-2 active items, if that, and in DotA it seems like you'll have two actives every game at the minimum. Question comes from trying to play Legion Commander and figuring out the Blink + W + Blademail + BKB + R combo. [link] [comments] |
Help with settings for quickcast Posted: 04 Sep 2018 02:25 PM PDT So, I've just started using quickcast after something like 7 years of playing Dota on and off. I'm determined to get used to it, but right now I have two problems:
Thanks a lot for the help in advance. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Sep 2018 03:49 PM PDT Hi, I just lost a game and went from Archon 2 90% to Archon 3 60%. How did that happen after a loss? Also why is my medal so high when my MMR is only 2200? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Frequently I hear that heroes that seem overall good are 'bad laners'. Who are some good laners? Posted: 04 Sep 2018 07:11 PM PDT ...And what makes them good laners? I've been playing a lot of Shadow Shaman lately, and his biggest weakness from what people have told me is that he's a poor laner. I was surprised to hear this, but I guess it makes sense since shackles leaves you pretty vulnerable in duo lanes, even though he has great base damage. However, when I think to pick something that would sturdy a lane up, especially in the support role, I don't know who's good at that. So who are some strong laners in the various roles (esp. support) and what should I look for besides stats that makes a hero a 'good laner'? [link] [comments] |
Why is soul ring removed as a core item for Huskar in 7.19? Posted: 04 Sep 2018 01:54 PM PDT As the title says, I have a question regarding the optimal starting items for Huskar in 7.19. The recent nerf brought a crushing blow to his initial starting damage, so more than ever I feel like soul ring is necessary to boost his survivability and playability early on. Why are the guides and trends opting away from soul ring as an item for him? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Sep 2018 09:05 AM PDT Hey, what shadow shaman talents are you using? Im usually goint hp -> hex cd -> shackless and then aether shock dmg, Are those ulti-upgrading talents worht it? Like 50 damage is a lot but its once every 2minuts while aether shock is every 8seconds. [link] [comments] |
Long Spectre Game, Item Pickup Suggestion Posted: 04 Sep 2018 11:35 AM PDT So yesterday I played this game as Spec: https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/4098851988. We had a hell of a hard time breaking high ground and the game kept going on forever. We had a ton of back and forth with buybacks coming up on both teams and we both had a hard time on high ground. My build for items was Treads>Rad>Manta>BKB>Heart>Nullifier. I bought the Nullifier because we kept getting jumped by Shaker, Medusa or PL and I wanted to switch it around to jumping them first. Looking back, maybe Bloodthorn would have been better for Shaker anyway (or neither)? I felt my Manta became obsolete and opted to go for a Skadi instead for the stat boost and slow, then I eventually replaced my treads with travels. I was (and still am) at a bit of a loss as to if there is an item that could have helped us win the game sooner. The defense of the enemy team was pretty good so I had to be very selective with late game Haunts. Naturally I was looking at a Moon Shard, but still couldn't feel it out. We ended up winning by split push top and bottom so I never did spend my 10k gold I had banked up. Any advice is appreciated. [link] [comments] |
What's the hero you're best with, and how do other players use it wrong? Posted: 03 Sep 2018 08:51 PM PDT My best is Skywrath. It often bugs me when allies get the +arcane seal damage amp talent over global concussive. The cooldown on concussive shot is short enough that if you fire a shot from ~1/3 of the map away from a target, it's off cooldown and ready to fire again while the first shot is giving you vision. You can chain concussive indefinitely and keep track of a single enemy forever, as long as you stay far enough away and they don't have any means of disjointing it. [link] [comments] |
stout shield on broodmother mid Posted: 04 Sep 2018 06:10 AM PDT hello guys im trying to understand brood better. i noticed most of the high high mmr brood avoid buying stout shield, but i also noticed MidOne and a couple of other players are buying this item. i tried to gather some information, for example if it is matchup based or what not, but it seems random to me. any info about when to buy it and when to skip it in favor of more mangoes? As a Support, iIs sharing tangos with Mid a necessity? Posted: 04 Sep 2018 02:42 PM PDT Title. I mostly play support, and enrages me everytime that my games always end with me as solo support with 4 carries.. So I end up buying both wards, buying courier, a Salve (which I hold to heal my shitty carry and sometimes myself if necessary), buying tangos for me, and it money allows, a Faerie Fire and a sentry for dewarding. So it pisses me off A LOT when I get ping spammed and mid keeps complaining wanting my tangos. Like REALLY? I'm buying everything because you lot picked 4 carries, and expect me to share my only regen? And also expect the map fully warded 100% of time when I have 0 LHs? Argh.. And even if I do that, they end up feeding and we lose.. gg peruvians anyway.. Being a mid, I expect that in two or 3 creeps you already have money for a set of Tangos, while I'll not be LHs for the entire game.. like.. Come on? So, is sharing couple Tangos with mid always necessary when you are playing support? [link] [comments] |
What To Do After Laning Phase? (Especially As Carry) Posted: 04 Sep 2018 10:54 AM PDT Fairly new player here (have about 80 hours logged) and something I seem to struggle with is the pacing of the match after the lane phase as carry. Generally this timing is when we lose our T1 or we take enemy T1. When I lose my T1 I generally pull back to my next tower and try to get some Cs in lane but I'm not sure if this is the best course of action since it feels like I am not impacting much from here. Most of the time my opponents will leave lane and spread out letting me take free farm. I am too afraid to push the wave back and take their tower and be aggressive while farming since I am so far from my tower when I push and I'm afraid to go too far without vision, so I end up not pushing with my wave and not feeling confident enough to farm the oncoming enemy waves. If I win the lane and take their tower first then I usually farm jungle or try to push out creep waves but in general play fairly passively. The game reaches a weird state after laning where I don't really know what to do. Apart from random skirmishes breaking out around the map not much happens. I am usually too afraid to be aggressive and take towers since I do not have vision and instead I sit in my jungle and farm and try to get picks. I guess what I am asking is that as a carry, what should I be aiming to do in general after winning/losing the lane? What are some good ward spots if I want to go aggressive and take objectives but my support isn't warding? I also have no idea what to build when behind or ahead and find myself making the beginner mistake of statically building each game. Any tips or feedback in general about the pace of the game after laning and how to play the mid to late game properly with regards to objectives and map pressure as a carry etc, are hugely appreciated! As an addendum, here is a recent replay of mine to show this in action. I had a pretty good lane but otherwise was lost and not knowing what to do for the rest of the game. If anyone cares to sift through my replay and try to analyse where I could have capatlised more I would be very appreciative :) I am PA in this game BTW [link] [comments] |
Satanic vs Tarrasque vs Skadi on Spectre Posted: 04 Sep 2018 10:51 AM PDT Which one do you think is better? Also, how good is diffusal blade? I feel like the item has lost a lot of power unless you buy it as a first major item. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Sep 2018 10:06 AM PDT Recently I've been playing lots of Phoenix matches in order to learn the hero. I want to know more about this hero efficiency, item build variation plus tips and tricks. Can someone help me to analyze these replays so that I can become a better player. Thank you for your attention. Here is the match ID: [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Sep 2018 12:46 AM PDT Hey everyone, I started playing about 2 weeks back and I feel like I improved a lot (thanks a lot for the tipps I got here - you are awesome!). I am most successful playing Viper and I was able to dominate my lane a lot of times. I lost a lot of games though even being 2-3 Levels up in midlane because I felt I'll have to help my struggeling teammates. Should I do this or just keep farming my lane? At what level does the teamfight phase normally start? [link] [comments] |
How to transition a won mid-lane into a won game? Posted: 04 Sep 2018 05:27 AM PDT Currently mid/high 4k mid player for reference. I've watched a lot of videos recently in an effort to get better (BSJ, Dota Alchemy etc.) and my laning phase at mid lane has improved massively. However, I am having games where I absolutely destroy mid and then struggle to close out the game; maybe I will have taken mid tower by 8 mins and their mid player is 3 lvls below me, but then I become unsure as to what I should do. I know I should push my advantage and avoid mindless farming when I am ahead like that, but I think I become too tempted to go around looking for kills (i.e. keeping their mid player down). Whats the best play from here? Do I pick the sidelane that is losing and reverse that? Do I force a push to destroy their safelane tower? Should I be getting aggressive wards in their jungle myself (if supports dont do it first) once the midlane tower is down and can enter it freely? Should I even care if their mid player starts farming to try and catch up while I am pushing other objectives? Any advice is greatly appreciated. I know not all games are winnable, but it's been pretty frustrating winning mid convincingly and then allowing them back into the game after that. [link] [comments] |
Overall good mid hero for a beginner? Posted: 04 Sep 2018 12:20 AM PDT I've played the game around 1k hours, I'm around 3k at solo mmr, but I can't mid at all. Usually I just get bullied or lose the lane cause I've not played mid heroes enough. I'm thinking about starting practicing 2-3 heroes that are suitable for mid, and lately I've been playing some "unconventional" mid heroes with a little bit of success. What heroes would you suggest? Are there any "unconventional" heroes that might work that I should try out? [link] [comments] |
Just decided to play support and need help Posted: 04 Sep 2018 01:02 AM PDT I've played for +2k hours (~2.3K MMR) but I've never played an specific position. I'm so bored of playing pubs (and ranked too) where people pick all cores so I recently decided to play always a 4/5 role. Now is when I realize how bad I am as a support so I feel like I need some help here: - How I supposed to share tangos, harass the offlane enemy and avoid being that damaged that I need to go to base early? - How can I know when is a good time to gank mid? Maybe when first wards are over? - Any tips on remember to pull? I'm so focused harassing and denying that when I realise I should pull it's always late. - If my carry doesn't know how to LH, shall I take them or let the carry trying it? - Is worth the risk of going ward alone? I've been killed many times for going to the enemy part of the map (even with smoke) alone. Mainly when I go highground. - How to deal when the enemy support is dewarding you each single ward you place? I know is matter of reading the game but could you give me any tips? That's all I have in mind now. Thanks a lot and sorry for my English. [link] [comments] |
Smurfers ruining calibration matches Posted: 04 Sep 2018 03:50 PM PDT Im doing the 10 calibration matches to get my rank, and there are smurfers that ruin my chance of getting my actual skill level. There is evidence of those peole streaming the game on Twitch, with an obvious smurf account. Honestly Valve needs to ban peoples main accounts for this shit, or atleast be able to be reported. To anyone struggling with a hero Posted: 04 Sep 2018 04:14 AM PDT I recently struggled with Bloodseeker, and finally figured him out. The key is to keep playing that hero and trying out new builds constantly, buffing up those areas that you feel necessary and that you lack in during the game. For example, with Bloodseeker, I was at a loss at how to actually be efficient without getting kited, disabled and killed before I could do anything in a fight mid-to-lategame, regardless of my early start, or even how to assure my solo-kill potential. I knew about Eul's, but I could never time it right the few times I had tried it and so didn't understand why I would build an int item on a hard-core like BS. But running out of option, I rushed it after boots of speed, and all of a sudden that same Invoker match-up mid that alienated me to no end just the previous game, aside from all the taunts from the enemy team, became easy-peasy. Then I built Disarm/BM/Invis and Travel, for more mobility and survivability. I made up for that with my greedy talent-build philosophy, I tend to go for the +AS +Dmg builds rather than for armor and HP. I lost that game too, but that's not the point. I was a monster on the map and could actually play the hero without feeling like I'm worthless and don't even understand why. The lesson, I feel, is to constantly think about how you play and itemize. Start with your lane match-up, and think about all the heroes and how the game progresses, and try to build around that. I feel like BM was a bad choice, now, because I lacked the gold for more DPS later on, as the Commander was able to beat me in a Duel. I feel like that shouldn't have been possible with the right item-build. So I will look to address that problem too in the future. [link] [comments] |
