As title stated no it's not free dlc but the shirt would been nice for the community to say; ok guys we made an error of judgement have a free shirt that the community been craving for years.

Personally not mad at Anet for this, but think it could have gone way smoother with some pre planning and testing the promo.

What happened to "Enrichments"?

Posted: 04 Sep 2018 11:23 AM PDT

A long time ago, ArenaNet updated amulets to not slot any more fractal agony resistance anymore. Instead, we were allowed to slot "enrichments" into them, which opened a whole new reward category in the game.

Today, more than an entire year after the update, the enrichment slot only saw a single update to it, namely "Koda's Warmth", which even gave a unique aura to characters.

Today, there's only 7 enrichments available to us to slot into our amulets, namely:

Name Bonus Method of acquisition
Gilded Enrichment +20% Gold from Monsters 20 Laurels
Magical Enrichment +20% Magic Find 20 Laurels
Experienced Enrichment +20% Experience from Kills 10 Laurels
Karmic Enrichment +15% Karma 10 Laurels
WxP Enrichment +10% WvW Experience 5 Laurels + 125 Badges of Honour
WvW Reward Track Enrichment +5% WvW Reward Track 5 Laurels + 125 Badges of Honour
Koda's Warmth Enrichment +15% Karma plus a visual aura Living World Season 3 - Episode 3 achievements (A Crack in the Ice))

Why is this entire category of rewards being ignored completely? Koda's Warmth was an amazing first step in the right direction, yet we saw absolutely no more content added to reward system after that episode, which was released more than a year ago. Why?

Only a few weeks ago, we saw the Novelty system being implemented, which made a gigantic amount of in-game items very wanted and useful again. Are we going to see the same happen to the Novelty system as well? Why waste so much development time and energy on making new systems if you're not going to do anything with them anyway?

There is so much reward space with the Enrichment system that I'm just shocked that we haven't seen any more additions to it. Examples and suggestions of the Enrichment system in terms of new rewards:

  • New cosmetic aura's that are subtle (e.g.: Koda's Warmth in different colours)
  • Map currency-specific enrichments (e.g.: +20% Volatile/Unbound Magic)
  • Dungeon token boosts (e.g.: +20% Ascalonian Tears/Deadly Bloom/...)
  • Automatic Luck-consumers (an enrichment that will automatically consume any luck you obtain, extremely handy for people trying to level up their Magic Find)
  • Raid reward boosters (an enrichment that slightly increases your chance on unique raid loot)
  • Transmutation enrichment (an enrichment that gives a slight chance of not using a Transmutation shard when changing skins, extremely handy for all Fashion Wars lovers)

This system gives us more than enough options for new and exciting enrichments, and I highly doubt that it takes a gigantic amount of development effort to implement new enrichments as well. I'd personally grind my ass off to get an automatic luck-consuming enrichment.

What kind of enrichments would you guys like to see? Do you agree with Arenanet's lax approach to updating this system?

Edit: People have pointed out that the WvW enrichments are fairly new (being released in April of this year). It seems that ArenaNet is testing the waters of this system, albeit slowly. Thanks for the comments!

Shout Out to Customer Service

Posted: 04 Sep 2018 07:00 PM PDT

Last week I bought the Emblazoned Dragon Throne hoping to troll guild mates in WvW. I'd be chill while they slaved away on catapults. Unfortunately, and unknown to me at the time of purchase, you can't use chairs where mounts aren't allowed. After finding this out by trying to use it, I submitted a support ticket asking them to take the chair and refund the gems if possible. This was the response today:

I Heed your Call Cixia,

Thank you for contacting the Guild Wars 2 Support Team. I sincerely apologize for how long it has taken us to get back to you. We've been swamped with tickets for a while now, and can't assist everyone as quickly as we'd like.

While in most cases the Support Team cannot refund an item but on request we will be delighted to investigate your particular situation. After investigating your query we've found that the Emblazoned Dragon Throne after being consumed cannot be destroyed or removed. So as a one time courtesy I shall refund you 600 gems.

May Grenths embrace be kind to you once it is your time to enter the darkness.

Regards,

GM Organic Overlord
Guild Wars 2 Support Team

Kinda sucks they couldn't take the chair back, but it's also awesome they refunded the gems anyway.

Guild Wars 2 Heroic Edition via Kung Fu Tea only available in US

Posted: 04 Sep 2018 03:52 PM PDT

Not sure if anyone posted this already but I've been trying for days to get a code only to find out they changed the promotion to be US only?

SWEEPSTAKES AND APP PROMOTION LIMITED TO US CUSTOMERS ONLY.

As they posted in one of the comments on FB: "Both promotions have always been limited to the US only. We are sorry for not emphasizing this sooner."

Did i miss something? Why didn't Anet or anyone specify this was US only. There was nothing that would imply this when they announced it via MO. It would have spared me some time getting the app and trying to get those codes.

Love them JPs and the community!

Stumbled upon this great jumping puzzle and after 1/3 of it I met two other guys trying their best.

We helped each other out and I really like those little moments in the game!

Even had a nice picture at the top :D.

[Data] For those interested in the Basic Node Pack on sale...

Posted: 04 Sep 2018 10:13 AM PDT

So, I just saw the Basic Node pack is on sale for another 24 hours, at the discounted price of 2800 gems instead of 4000.

I wanted to see how long it would take to recoup the cost of those 2800 gems, to see if this was a good long term investment.

TL;DR : It's not. At current prices, it takes 6 years and a half of daily gathering to recoup, and a whopping 9 years and 3 months at the regular price.

For those wanting to see the maths, it's all in this spreadsheet.

Basically, I took all the detail of each node and what it yields on average, got the current cost of gems in gold, and divided the cost by the yields. Big thanks to the wiki by the way.

Hope it helps !

We asked for Twitch Drops 7 months ago

Posted: 04 Sep 2018 08:04 PM PDT

I personally as well as approximately 6 other streamers at the time pressed ArenaNet developers for Twitch Drop implementations. With the recent delve into "KungFuTea" and the failures, I think it would've been more appropriate to provide the community with this fashion item with the implementation of Twitch Drops.

What are Twitch Drops?? - A method of providing you with "loot" for spending XX amount of minutes within the stream of a Partner/Streamer (they decide) playing XXXX Game. You hook up your Twitch account to GW2, that's it in a nutshell.

There wouldn't have been all of this fussing around w/ external apps and it would've passively benefited the entire community via passive advertising (on twitch via exposure) and specific regions wouldn't have been left out.

I feel like the marketing team really need to be introduced to modern methods of advertising. We've done our best to push this to the dev team as individuals, now we really need the community to get behind us on the application of drops.

Maybe if this thread gets enough traction, ArenaNet might finally start looking into how Twitch is easily the best method of games advertising in 2018/19.

Golems? Golems!

Posted: 04 Sep 2018 06:53 AM PDT

Friend has a little game she let me in on. What are your thoughts?

Posted: 04 Sep 2018 04:32 AM PDT

She saw the line of male bandits when they die: "Now I'll never..." https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bandit#Male .

She told me she likes to think up endings for it, like:

  • "Now I'll never... bake an apple pie."
  • "Now I'll never... see Rytlock and Logan do the nasty."
  • ... get out of the crippling debt that put me in this situation.
  • ... knit my nana that sweater.

Anyone want to offer they're own thoughts? I added two of mine above with two of hers.
