True Dota 2 - Mammals vs Machine Dota Showmatch Specualution

Mammals vs Machine Dota Showmatch Specualution

In a few hours a group of celebrity players with a team ranking equivalent to Immortal 3 will face off against OpenAI5 a team of fledgling artificial intelligence bots.

All information about the event can be found here. https://blog.openai.com/openai-five-benchmark/

How do you think this series will go?

What strengths and weaknesses do you think will shine through with each team?

What interests me most is that the bots will be drafting for the first time and I'm really curious which way it will go.

Considering the current hero pool what stands out to me is that the following should be the highest priority for both sides.

Axe (the pool of initiators is very limited and simply don't match what Axe brings for the laning phase) Death Prophet and Necrophos (the pool of burst dmg is skewed heavily towards traditional carries and those who are mostly not equipped to deal with these two)

Besides these heroes the choices in supports are so strict I think they dictate just as much how a team can move around the map with the rest of their line up.

edit

Welp the meatbags lost handily. We are now one step closer to the singularity.

I'm not as surprised that earth shaker was prioritized over axe but it was a mistake imo.

What settings do you normally play on?

I've got a decent PC but I don't think I'm getting the most out of every game. I've got about 90-100 fps in teamfights but still it doesn't feel comfortable enough. How low ahould I go on the graphics and what do you guys usually play on?

Safelane Sniper

Posted: 04 Aug 2018 10:10 PM PDT

How bad is it an why? My friend seems to think Sniper should always be mid, but I have had much success with him safe lane. That being said, I understand that high level players almost always take him mid. I am just curious why this is, specifically.

Does Dagon need a rework?

Posted: 04 Aug 2018 05:42 PM PDT

Dagon (along with Mek) hasn't really aged well with the general powercreep of the game. Everyone has more HP, talents, glimmer cape, more gold going around.

What would be some reasonable ways to balance the item with it's current cost? An additional ~5-10% based damage from total HP? Keep it similar to now but make the +rightclick damage relevant? Range buff? Cheaper? No CD/manacost if used for a kill similar to Axe's ult? Restores mana upon using for a kill?

It's a fun item but hasn't kept up with the powercreep of the game. People will say it's situational but that's practically never outside of the 4-5 heroes mentioned below . Rarely at best on Pugna, Tinker, Necro, AA) and even then how often is the item purchased in high level games?

Edit: Okay we hate discussion of change, I get it. But would any of these buffs actually make anyone buy the item in competitive play (+1250 for + as is?) I don't know if they would

edit2: Nvm, dagon OP, core on everyone, back in my day Dagon Nyx was relevant in unranked!

How to have an impact as roamer early game? (<10 mins)

Posted: 05 Aug 2018 11:41 AM PDT

Since roaming is quite weak in this current meta, I'd like to know how you guys actually play roamers (like pudge/riki/bh) in the early game without being dead weight.

Generally see people sitting in offlane sharing harass with the offlaner until level 2 where they actually begin roaming with the results mostly depending on how gankable the lanes are.

Would also like to know what you end up doing if there is almost no kill potential on any lane. Do you just end up having a bad duo offlane because of the roamer pick or is there some better way to play around this (outside of not picking a roamer)?

Question about Shadow Shaman in Professional Dota

Posted: 04 Aug 2018 05:40 PM PDT

My question is why does it not seem that there is hardly any Shadow Shaman picks in tournaments etc.? Watching Beyond the Summit and I don't think he was picked whatsoever.

I am not a particularly great player, so if someone could kind of explain why this is it would be helpful. Does he just not fit into the 2-1-2 meta? Are other heroes just better at his job than he is right now? Did a team try him out and get stomped, so other teams avoid him?

Thoughts on Arc Warden lvl 3 Escape hero lmao

Posted: 04 Aug 2018 09:10 PM PDT

First of all why is he a lvl 3 escape hero on hero values?? Shadowblade lmao?

They need to re-update for all heroes

Second his spark wraith activation delay is garbage and his projectile speed is trash even with moon shards. They need

to fix him with his inner mechanics to make him legit putting aside his 7 base armor.

Any thoughts?
