Beautiful day hiking through The Reach, from Dragon Bridge to Markarth

After almost seven years, this game still gets me with how beautiful it can be.

I received a letter? From myself?

Anyone else not like that you’re all but forced to join the thieves guild?

Posted: 06 Aug 2018 05:13 AM PDT

I went to Riften for the first time in a play through, looking to get the unusual gem appraised. Maul makes it clear that I have to join the thieves guild to have it looked at. Then you're approached directly my Brynjolf who aggressively pushes for your help. If you want your unusual gem appraised, you're forced to play along and become a member of the thieves guild, even if you have no intention of thieving. Besides the No Stone Unturned Quest, you have to really try to find Esbern without being drawn into the thieves guild. It just seems like Bethesda was really pushing the thieves guild even on players that don't want to be a thief, and for what was a questionable story line at best, it seems like most players are forced towards it at some point in their play through.

I got a letter from myself thanking me for killing myself. What?

My player has fallen and can’t get up. One too many shouts were casted on him by the Gauldur Jerks. Fixes?

Went to a medieval festival yesterday and my 9 year old sister bought this. So proud.

Miraak theory

Posted: 06 Aug 2018 02:29 AM PDT

Spoilers

Let's say you go to fight Miraak before killing Alduin, and he kills you. What I'm working on here is that "the last dragonborn" doesn't refer to "the last dragonborn to be born" but "the last living dragonborn". What if the prophecy was twisted to be about Miraak, that he's the one that kills Alduin. One of the things the greybeards say is "will your name be a curse to future generations", and I think that would suit Miraak quite well.

What do you guys think? I really hope someone didn't think of this before, but do you guys think this could be a valid thing?

Future disaster in Skyrim

Posted: 06 Aug 2018 06:47 AM PDT

I've noticed a pattern of what happens to provinces after the game ends, there's always some kind of disaster that undos all the good the hero does. In Morrowind it was Red Year, in Cyrodiil it was the Great War. So what will Skyrims Disaster be?

After seeing some comments about having an MMO esque group, I thought I’d give it a try myself. Off to see the Wizard of Oz now.

Anyone else like Wards?

Posted: 06 Aug 2018 05:15 AM PDT

I watched a recent video on restoration by Fudgemupppet and they heavily criticized wards due to the magicka drain. I agree they take a heavy toll on magicka, but with my main I really enjoy using them against mage characters and dragons because the effect looks really cool and feels awesome when they work properly!

Anyone else use/enjoy them?

Soul cairn quest is horrible

Posted: 05 Aug 2018 06:43 PM PDT

The quest where you enter the soul cairn is horrible. You first have to delve through all of castle volkihar which isn't horrible, but when you finally arrive at the soul cairn you have to walk for probably 2 minutes even without distractions. When you finally make to Valerica you have to have a painfully long conversation with her and then she sends you on a quest which is 90% walking around which takes about 5 minutes to get to each one of the 3 checkpoints. Then you have to do a painfully long walk through this barren wasteland and fight a dragon which I would say is the only fun part of this whole quest. This mission feels horribly made and I genuinely dread this mission. They did no design to the actual terrain which I can kind of understand because the soul cairn is supposed to be unpleasant but Atleast fill it up with more souls. It just feels like they rushed through making this whole quest.

Tonight, I defended Whiterun on the back of Odahviing. Seemed appropriate somehow.
