New Vegas: I find it absolutely impossible for me to do a Legion playthrough

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 11:04 AM PDT

I've tried so many times, and no matter what, I simply can't bring myself to side with the Legion. I think it's a testament to the writing in the game that I can feel so strongly for 7+ years about a fictional wasteland and the inhabitants within it, so much so that I cannot will myself to side with the "bad guys". Just thought I'd share. How do you guys feel about the Legion?

Finally got around to playing Fallout 2. I have to say, the debate between 3, NV and 4 makes no sense. This was my favorite experience.

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 10:17 AM PDT

I actually can't believe a game so old, with graphics so dated, captured my sense of wonder like this game. You guys weren't lying, it's definitely worth it to go back. That being said, I think one of the big things I noticed was how much more built up "west coast" fallout lore is compared to east coast. People keep talking about NV's freedom but man... I had a few times where I was like... "they are going to let me do this? wow...".

I made an Fallout 76 label made to be put on Coke bottles

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 12:45 PM PDT

I couldn't post this as an actual image post so here's an imgur mirror : https://imgur.com/a/6NNQA7w

Hope you like it! Just print the picture as an A4 and it should fit on the bottle. You have to paint the cap though.

Just in case some of you were wondering how the original beast was put together. Thought some of you would appreciate the roots of one of the most iconic character models in the game.

Edit: Fallout 1 - 1997.

Fallout 4's main quest makes no sense as a Raider

Posted: 31 Jul 2018 10:03 PM PDT

So I finally got around to doing a raider playthrough. As soon as I got out of the vault I ran straight to Nuka-World and became the Overboss. Now, if I ever get around to the main quest, I have a bit of a moral predicament. That being, none of the primary factions would accept a raider among them. The Brotherhood and Minutemen hate raiders, and the other two factions would probably not want to be associated with a raider. The way I see it I have three options:

  1. Go to the Minutemen and abandon the raiders. This is what I initially planned on doing but the more I play the less I want to lose all of my raider outposts. A redemption arc would make sense but it would result in this playthrough being just like every other Fallout 4 playthrough.
  2. Join the Institute and be a generic bad guy with confusing motives. The Institute and the Raiders only have one thing in common, being a general disregard for the good of the average wastelander. There is no reason for a raider to support the Institute and there is no reason for the sophisticated science dudes to follow a savage as their leader.
  3. Join the Railroad, and be a synth-loving raider. The railroad typically doesn't care about anything but synths, but still typically leans towards the chaotic good side of things.

In conclusion, I should be able to send my raiders to attack the Institute. Despite having more choice than most BGS games, the main quest of Fallout 4 still railroads (pun intended) you into being a somewhat good person. The two "evil" factions, the Brotherhood and the Institute, aren't evil enough.

do you think the settelment system would be better if it was 1 or 2 large ones instead of lots of them?

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 02:31 PM PDT

i was sorta thinking of something like the villa in assassins creed 2, and named NPCs would move in as it got better, creating quests and shit

Synths in future fallout titles should lead to some interesting new possibilities for quests and lore.

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 12:00 PM PDT

Especially considering Synths supposedly don't age. Similar to ghouls, as the plot and timeline get advanced there will be a small population who look normal and do not age.

A fun bit of gameplay i remembered today from fallout NV

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 08:02 AM PDT

So I was talking with my younger brother today about new Vegas. We both love the game and logged a huge amount of hours. He brought up his favorite weapon that I always used. It was the Laser Detonater from lonesome road. I'm not sure if a lot of people remember this or not but if you equiped a weapon, then held the hotkey and scrolled to your amo, hot keyed that ammo type to your hot key bar, you could use that ammo with any weapon. With the laser detonator it doesn't use ammo. Just an infinite spray of no damage laser. But with hot keyed amo (example: mini nukes, explosive 50 Cal, 40mm grenades), you could have an infinite spray of that ammo. Therefore making it the most OP weapon in the game. Makes for some great gameplay

Any suggestions on a homemade/hand-crafted Fallout ceiling light?!

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 02:07 PM PDT

We've just moved house and our hallway is heavily Fallout/Nuka Cola themed, pics below. I've got a few more things to add - lunchboxes, special editions etc. - but we're in need of ceiling light inspiration. I'm quite crafty but I'm lacking in vision of what would look cool so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've got a few thousand bottle caps saved up (literally) so if you can think of any way I could fashion a ceiling light (or have made...) out of those, that would be cool too!

Pin Up Girl 1, Mentats box and lunchboxes missing from table. The afore-mentioned ceiling light sans lampshade here. https://i.imgur.com/JkZhrnw.jpg

Pin Up Girl 2. https://i.imgur.com/KjGUiho.jpg

Mock-up Life magazine cover and in-game drugs pictures. https://i.imgur.com/W4M0a3b.jpg

If you have any other suggestions of things we could add, please let me know! Ta :D

Where do you want fallout 5 to take place?

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 09:12 AM PDT

Personally I would like it to be in San Antonio Texas because that's where I grew up. I also want to fight another battle at the Alamo. We could have a conflict between Ceasers Legion and a new Republic of Texas. We could even have the Texas Rangers be a kind of Minuteman faction.

Where do you think the next fallout game should take place and why?

Edit: accidentally asked about fallout 6 a few minutes ago. Deleted that post and made this one to correct the mistake.

Is there any way that I can spawn then back in with console commands so i can trade with them again?

Just hearing the fact that one of the lead developers of FO76 worked on Ultima Online was enough to get me to pre-order the game.

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 01:24 PM PDT

And in case you were wondering that wasn't the only factor, just the one that helped me to make the final decision. Ultima Online was and is my favorite game.

Re-uploaded due to misspelling in title.

I wish we had Fallout comics or books

Posted: 31 Jul 2018 07:14 PM PDT

I would pay good money for this. It would be a great way to expand the lore and maybe even to see a different perspective. One idea I have is a comic/book that explores Nick Valentine and his detective adventures. It could also take a deeper dive into his thoughts and feelings, really developing him as a character. Bethesda could do this with any character from any game or time. Maybe a book that is all about pre war America. The possibilities are endless. Let me know your thoughts or ideas for a Fallout comic/book. I would love to read them.

Help with shaping a heavily modded playthrough [F4]

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 12:21 PM PDT

So before 76 drops I'm going to do a final playthrough of 4 (on xbox) where afterwards I'm not going to touch the game for at least a couple years so when I do come back to it it's fresh. Due to playing pretty consistently since launch I need this run to feel really different; I've taken note of various weapon replacers as well as other weapon mods, and hopefully I can get alternate start working again.

I'm going to edit the date so it's the year 2085. I'll use the Dead Sun Weather & Scorched Earth mods to give it more of a dead money/horror vibe, and replace all enemies with high volumes of feral ghouls (and the occasional deathclaw). Does anyone know of how I could erase/replace all named human NPCs? And anything to edit places like Diamond City so they're different from their 2287 counterpart?

I also need some sort of end goal for this - I've explores this game enough times over that just wandering about the map is going to get stale fast.

I know mod request posts are pretty stale but I want to make this run S.P.E.C.I.A.L., and hopefully I have a niche enough idea to garner some interest.

Thanks!
