Hero Discussion of the Day: Enigma, the Consumer of Worlds (August 1st, 2018)

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 12:47 PM PDT

Darchrow the Enigma the Consumer of Worlds

Enigma is a ranged intelligence hero who uses his abilities to cripple his enemies, supported by a seemingly inexhaustible army of creeps. His fearsome abilities can bind entire teams under his might. Enigma is also a formidable jungler and pusher owing to his ability to create creeps. The deliverance of his ultimate, Black Hole, engulfs an area around him with dark energies and disables enemies caught within it, making him an extremely powerful yet conditional initiator and disabler. His Midnight Pulse consumes sections of enemies' life in a region over time and his Malefice stuns targets. His trademark ability is Demonic Conversion, which splits a creep into three eidolons under his control. If they can land enough attacks on an enemy unit before their expiration, they multiply and are healed to full health.

Lore

Nothing is known of Enigma's background. There are only stories and legends, most of them apocryphal, passed down through the ages. In truth, Enigma is a mystery for whom the only true biography is description: he is a universal force, a consumer of worlds. He is a being of the void, at times corporeal, other times ethereal. A beast between the planes. There are stories that say he was once a great alchemist who tried to unlock the secrets of the universe and was cursed for his arrogance. Other legends tell that he is an ancient being of strange gravity, the abyss personified—a twisted voice from out the original darkness, before the first light in the universe. And there are older legends that say he is the first collapsed star, a black hole grown complicated and sentient—his motivations unknowable, his power inexorable, a force of destruction unleashed upon existence itself.

Spells

Malefice

Focuses Enigma's power on a target, causing it to take damage and become repeatedly stunned for multiple instances. An instance strikes every 2 seconds.

Level Manacost Cooldown Casting Range Area Duration Effects
1 100 18s 600 N/A 4s Causes an enemy unit to be stunned for 0.4 seconds every 2 seconds, taking 30 damage each time they are stunned
2 120 17s 600 N/A 4s Causes an enemy unit to be stunned for 0.6 seconds every 2 seconds, taking 50 damage each time they are stunned
3 140 16s 600 N/A 4s Causes an enemy unit to be stunned for 0.8 seconds every 2 seconds, taking 70 damage each time they are stunned
4 160 15s 600 N/A 4s Causes an enemy unit to be stunned for 1 seconds every 2 seconds, taking 90 damage each time they are stunned
  • Dispellable

  • The first instance occurs upon cast, and then every 2 seconds.

  • Can deal up to 90/150/210/270 (with 240/400/560/720) damage (before reductions).

  • On each tick, Malefice first applies the damage, then the stun.

  • Multiple instances of Malefice do not stack, but refresh the duration instead. It continues ticking with the tick rate of the first cast.

Strange gravities pull at the core of those who would oppose you, holding them in place.

Demonic Conversion

Transforms a creep into three fragments of Enigma himself. These eidolons are all under Enigma's control, and repeated successful attacks cause them to multiply. When this happens, the eidolons have their health restored.

Level Manacost Cooldown Casting Range Area Duration Effects
1 140 35s 700 N/A 35s Destroys the targeted creep, converting it into 3 Lesser Eidolons. These Eidolons each have 180 HP, deal 20 damage, 2 armor and 280 movespeed
2 150 35s 700 N/A 35s Destroys the targeted creep, converting it into 3 Lesser Eidolons. These Eidolons each have 200 HP, deal 28 damage, 3 armor and 310 movespeed
3 160 35s 700 N/A 35s Destroys the targeted creep, converting it into 3 Lesser Eidolons. These Eidolons each have 220 HP, deal 37 damage, 4 armor and 340 movespeed
4 170 35s 700 N/A 35s Destroys the targeted creep, converting it into 3 Lesser Eidolons. These Eidolons each have 240 HP, deal 47 damage, 5 armor and 370 movespeed
  • Demonic Conversion kills the target unit, granting the gold and experience bounty, or resulting in a deny when cast on allied units.

  • Attacking buildings or allied units does not count towards the number of attacks required to multiply, but attacking wards does.

    • The attack is counted upon projectile launch, not upon hit, therefore, it does not matter whether the attack actually hits the target or not.
    • Eidolons multiply upon their 7th attack projectile launch, regardless of whether the attack is a valid one (such as a building).
  • When multiplying, the Eidolon's health is refreshed. Their duration is not refreshed.

    • However, the splitting Eidolon's duration gets increased by 2 seconds.
  • Eidolons can only multiply once. Eidolons which spawned through multiplication, cannot multiply.

  • Cannot be cast on ancient creeps, wards, creep-heroes, Necronomicon summons, Centaur Conquerors, Satyr Tormenters, Wildwing Rippers, Dark Troll Summoners, and Hellbear Smashers.

Enigma is capable of drawing aspects of himself from other dimensions - the result is a trio of dark eidolons that hunt the corporeal plane.

Midnight Pulse

Steeps an area in dark resonance, damaging enemy units based on their max HP.

Level Manacost Cooldown Casting Range Area Duration Effects
1 75 50s 700 550 9s Causes an area to pulse - descending into the void, any enemy unit within the targeted area loses 3.75% of their max HP per second
2 95 45s 700 550 10s Causes an area to pulse - descending into the void, any enemy unit within the targeted area loses 4.25% of their max HP per second
3 115 40s 700 550 11s Causes an area to pulse - descending into the void, any enemy unit within the targeted area loses 4.75% of their max HP per second
4 135 35s 700 550 12s Causes an area to pulse - descending into the void, any enemy unit within the targeted area loses 5.25% of their max HP per second
  • Midnight Pulse deals damage in 1 second intervals, starting 1 second after cast, resulting in 9/10/11/12 instances.

  • Can deal up to 33.75%/42.5%/52.25%/63% of the affected units' maximum health as damage (before reductions).

  • Does not affect ancient creeps and wards.

  • Successive casts of Midnight Pulse work fully independently from each other.

  • Destroys trees within 550 radius at the target location upon cast.

A section of the world slowly descends into the void.

Black Hole

Ultimate

Summons a vortex that sucks in nearby enemy units. Enemies affected by Black Hole cannot move, attack, or cast spells.

Level Mana Cost Cooldown Casting Range Area Duration Effects
1 275 200s 275 420 4s Summons a black hole in the targeted area, pulling all units into the center. The hole disables enemies within it fully, dealing 50 damage per second to enemies.
2 325 180s 275 420 4s Summons a black hole in the targeted area, pulling all units into the center. The hole disables enemies within it fully, dealing 100 damage per second to enemies.
3 375 160s 275 420 4s Summons a black hole in the targeted area, pulling all units into the center. The hole disables enemies within it fully, dealing 150 damage per second to enemies.
  • Undispellable

  • Fully disables all caught enemies and silences them.

  • Spirals affected units counterclockwise towards the center at a speed of 30, resulting in a maximum possible distance of 120.

    • The closer the units are to the center, the stronger they get pulled to the center, with almost no pull, but only rotation at max distance.
  • Can pull affected units over impassable terrain and through trees without destroying them.

  • Units inside Black Hole can be pulled out by various spells. Force Staff, Hurricane Pike, Snowball and Geomagnetic Grip cannot move units out of Black Hole.

  • The pull and disable are provided by an aura, which lingers for 0.5 seconds, or until the channeling stops, whichever is shorter.

  • Deals damage in 1 second intervals, starting 1 second after cast, resulting in 4 instances.

  • Can deal up to 200/400/600 damage (before reductions).

  • Does not affect wards or buildings. Fully affects couriers.

  • The Aghanim's Scepter does not actually cause Midnight Pulse to be cast when using Black Hole, it just adds its damage to Black Hole:

    • The extra damage is equal to the current level of Midnight Pulse, so if not learned, Black Hole deals no extra damage.
    • The extra damage is dealt in separate instances, in the same intervals as Black Hole's damage, resulting in 8 total instances together with Black Hole's regular damage.
    • The extra damage is dealt across the whole radius of Black Hole and lasts for the duration of Black Hole.
    • The extra damage stacks with any previously cast Midnight Pulse and deals pure damage.
    • Unlike the Midnight Pulse skill, the upgrade's pulse damage hits ancient creeps.
    • Also unlike Midnight Pulse, it does not destroy trees in the area upon cast.
  • Provides 800 range ground vision at the targeted point for 4 seconds upon cast.

The ground trembles as Enigma channels his ultimate vortex of destruction, a singularity with the power to end worlds.

Broodmother's game-breaking bug

Posted: 02 Aug 2018 05:21 AM PDT

Ok so I made a thread about this yesterday, but it died. Basically, for some reason, Broodmother can make untargetable, unkillable spiders which remain until the game ends.

https://imgur.com/a/GhKqGQj

The first four pictures were taken while I was ingame as I couldn't select the spiders. The last one I took from the replay and you can clearly see they have 0 HP and no duration. For those that have an explanation or are just curious

Why whales are important.

Posted: 02 Aug 2018 02:01 AM PDT

I just have this to say. If VALVe continues to poorly support their cash cow, the International Battle-pass with broken or incomplete offerings and features (Enticing people with Two Caches, and the Eminent Revival Recolor, Horrible implementation of their DPC Prediction, removal of daily and weekly challenges until people complained, pushing content and gating it beyond higher and higher paywalls, weekend bundle glitches, marketability issues, lowering the odds for Treasures) they've got a second think coming.

I would not be surprised if this is the last year they are breaking any records of prize money for TI. People purchase these things with certain expectations and if there is no reason to level up a battle-pass to a high level, no one will purchase more levels. Everyone knows that the lootbox system has always preyed on the psychological thrill of potential significant rewards, but at the end of the day, they're objectively merely pixels that people desire.

It costs Valve literally nothing to be open, communicative, and very little relative to the cost to actually make quality or acceptable levels of content for players. They don't make the cache sets, just relying on workshop submissions. They recycle the battlepass system which has been going steady for three years now, they've downgraded content (Underhollow compared to Siltbreaker is underwhelming). They've even taken away any reason to purchase more levels by making rare lootbox content unreasonably difficult to acquire. If the difficulty in obtaining fancy pixels becomes prohibitive even with an exorbitant amount of money spent, you can be sure that whales will go elsewhere.

Anyone who wants to defend these practices are welcome to do so, but it should not surprise anyone if the whales get tired of this continued attitude and bait-and-switch actions. The whales are the people who contribute the most towards the continued growth and survival of the game. All of you people crying about them crying pay for far less server time than any whale does. It would help if Valve stopped antagonizing the people who love this game enough to pump in hundreds and thousands of dollars in support of it. They are one of the reasons why this game remains financially viable. Lets start giving them the value they deserve and stop nickel and diming people who are more than happy to pay for things that cost almost nothing to produce.

When you decide to buy levels until you get an ultra rare from Treasure III

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 11:03 PM PDT

Shrine heal should be increasing as the game goes longer.

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 09:28 PM PDT

It would be awarding to those who manages to retain their high ground in late game and punishing those who don't take the shrines right after taking highground. Maybe scale proportionate to Roshan or creeps overtime increase in damage?

Google form - Immortal Treasures - Results

Posted: 02 Aug 2018 07:27 AM PDT

First of all, I would like to thank you r/DotA2 for your parcipitation (I have 1590 answers for the 24 hours period, such a big amount!). Let me tell you my thoughts about this:- I don't have quantity - it's a mistake, I know, butr when I've realised that, it was too late, sorry- It is not official statistics and we can't believe to all of answers (Just look at it, here below!)

Fake answer (I've tried to delete those answers)

So, now I'll just put the results in diagrams and histograms. In all diagrams it will be an option - other (at the beginning it was an option - other, so 0,5% of answers were like - Hey dude, I've opened 10 chests, 71, 100003210000 chests or 150+++ etc), so I am also sorry for that, those results make it unrepresentative).

https://i.redd.it/e67dok1yvod11.png

https://i.redd.it/9redtk1yvod11.png

So, we see that escalating odds are lower with each treasure, what is the reason of that? I don't know. It's hard to understand, because to get a lot of immo 3 you have to donate some money and buy some levels. At the beginning of battle pass there are not so many 3 chests. And of course, the last question - about money, 39,7% > 21,9%.

I want one more time to thank you for your help during it. Also I want to tell, that english is not my native language, so there are probably some mistakes in text.

My results are - 1120 BP lvl, 0 ultrarares.

P.S. I love this game, but i don't think, that I'll need another replica of aegis next year, worth it...P.P.S. Dear Valve, thank you for naga immortal at least. It looks brilliant.

If you sell product 1, 2 and 3 as variations of the same item, but you don't disclose that product 3 is different from the rest. I think that warrants some complaints and frustration.

Posted: 02 Aug 2018 10:28 AM PDT

Most of the complaints on here about Immortal III are not actually about the treasure having lower odds, its about having no transparency behind it. I felt that many people were missing this point.

I can now appreciate the complaints people are making against the Treasure. the first WD wasn't found until chest 81.

The biggest line = wd, the 2nd spikes are qop gold (Vr) and the small spikes are (the levels) The base 1-6 are the award that was given for every treasure, it cycle through with ("bat =1, willow= 2, zeus=3, ss=4, qop=5, naga=6")

I absolutely see why people are complaining and why conformational bias is occurring with respect to WD -->Qop as in this sample it occurred twice.

For those that have 40-50-60 treasures, I can see why you seem hard done by, the odds are indeed unlikely you hit rares.

if odds have been reduced then shame on valve.

However, you bought into this blind, but it is indeed the minnows who are hard done by, but with enough chests you can see the rares do indeed drop.

[Noob Friendly] Overview of all the teams attending TI8

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 08:31 PM PDT

Just thought I would do a quick overview of all teams battling it out for the grand prize of Aegis at this year's International.

Disclaimer: These are my thoughts and opinions so take them with a grain of salt and feel free to agree or disagree. Secondly, I've left out last notable achievements if the team has changed roster and hasn't achieved anything with the new roster besides qualifying for TI (For example: OG).

Edit: Thank you kind stranger for the gold. First one ever! Glad you enjoyed the post that much.

Virtus.Pro

Easily the best and most consistent team of the season finishing their run with a whopping 12372 DPC points. They have a very aggressive playstyle, a vast hero pool on all their players and many different strategies they play. VP enjoy a challenge and aren't afraid to give opponents heroes they want just to beat them with it. VP are favourites to take this TI out with their solid and consistent performance but anything can happen at TI.

The player to look out for: Rodjer. A cliche to pick a team's 4 position as a crux in their team however Rodjer has single-handedly saved many games for VP this season.

Last notable achievements:

  • 2nd at Supermajor June
  • 1st at Birmingham May

Team Liquid

Defending champions of the Aegis from TI7, these players didn't let the TI-winning curse get to them and showed consistent results all throughout the season. Whilst they didn't snag a Major victory until the final tournament of the season, they only ended up a few thousand DPC points behind DPC heavyweights, VP. A very consistent and talented team with a huge hero pool on many of their players. Liquid have a strong chance of taking their second TI but doing so would break many curses and records.

The player to look out for: Miracle-. Always has game impact no matter what hero or position he plays in. Is able to create situations out of nothing and is incredibly entertaining to watch.

Latest notable achievements:

  • 1st at Supermajor June
  • 2nd at Epicenter XL May

PSG.LGD

A silent and underachieving team at the start of the season but came out of their shell prior to DAC 2018 and dominating DAC only to fall short to Mineski. After DAC, they proceeded to dominate their qualifiers and tournaments with amazing and unorthodox drafts which left casters, analysts and (mainly Western) viewers baffled. They're incredibly talented and a very disciplined and patient team but also love to try unpredictable plays which is uncharacteristic of most Chinese teams. This gives them the edge of having both the steel nerves of Chinese teams and unpredictability of Western teams.

The player to look out for: Fy. Strong drafts and even stronger gameplay. This veteran is definitely a player to be feared and always provides high impact in all games.

Last notable achievements:

  • 3rd at Supermajor June
  • 1st at MDL Changsha May
  • 1st at Epicenter XL May

Team Secret

The initial DPC giants came out of the gate swinging after the conclusion of TI7 and were pinned to be one of the top 3 teams of the DPC season (those who predicted came close). Arguably the highest tier team with their strangest drafts - I've seen VP draft some weird things and win but Secret take it to a whole different level and sometimes it doesn't pay off. Whilst they were pretty consistent throughout the season, the plateaued in the second half of the season but finding form at DreamLeague 9. Being TI, Puppey's drafts and leadership could bring them great success - Definitely a strong contender for the title.

The player to look out for: Ace. A quite achiever but always has high game impact. Can play many heroes in all different roles. I would put Ace in my top 5 carries at the moment as he's un-tiltable and consistent.

Latest notable achievements:

  • 4th at Supermajor June
  • 1st at DreamLeague 9 March

Mineski

Funny enough, Mineski were reported to be on the brink of disbandment prior to DAC 2018. Sometimes qualifying for events and the events they qualified for, they fell short in group stages - It wasn't a good looking season for Mineski until they secured their spot at DAC 2018. Suddenly everything seemed to click - They dominated group stages and managed to eliminate an in-form Optic, VG and put LGD to bed twice for their first Major victory. However, after DAC, their performances were consistent but not good enough for a top 4 spot at the remaining Majors. Strong points of Mineski would include good drafts, a strong duo-core in Mushi and Nana, an insanely high skilled unpredictable Offlaner, an unwavering position 5 and a godlike position 4 player.

The player to look out for: iceiceice. Whilst Jabz comes close to this spot for me, iceiceice makes plays that make me say, "He shouldn't have done that, but he did and now he killed 4 of his opponents and escaped." High mechanical skill, high hero pool and unpredictable plays - What more could you want?

Last notable achievements:

  • 1st at DAC 2018 April

Vici Gaming

Vici Gaming, for me, has been the Chinese Cloud 9 of the DPC season. They're incredibly consistent and talented but can never seem to secure that victory. Housing one of the best mid laners in the world who plays as their carry and also steered into battle by two of the most solid Chinese Support players ever in LaNm and Fenrir. Its the year of TI for the Chinese and VG are one of the few Chinese teams who could pull it off.

The player to look out for: Paparazi. Two-time World 1v1 Champion even though he hasn't played Mid for a while, Paparazi is everything you want in a core player.

Last notable achievements:

  • 3rd at MDL Changsha May
  • 2nd ESL One Katowice February

Newbee

Arguably the most inconsistent team with the most events attended in the top 8. Newbee looked incredibly strong after TI7 being the Upper Bracket champions only to get clean-sweeped by Liquid in the Grand Final. However, their results said otherwise. They got their revenge on Liquid at ESL One Genting in January but their performances in other tournaments were hit and miss. Their matchups would be the hardest to call. One day they're on par or better than VP/Liquid. Other days they're the first to be eliminated in Group Stages. My personal opinion is that they have too few drafts, are slow to adapt to the meta and they play much too safe. They need to branch out, expand their hero pool, try new things and take risks. Who knows, their power might increase during TI like last year.

The player to look out for: Faith. A true veteran and a wealth of knowledge and skill. I believe he is to China what Kuroky is the West. Don't @ me.

Last notable achievements:

  • 4th at MDL Changsha May
  • 4th DreamLeague 9 March
  • 3-4th Bucharest Major March

  • Vici Gaming Jeremy Thunder**

Definitely the luckiest team of the whole season. Whilst I don't doubt their skill, the combination of the 2nd place finish at Bucharest accompanied by the DPC titans winning everything else meant that they could punch their ticket to TI8 without the worry of going through the bloodbath that was the Chinese Qualifiers. The reason I call them lucky is that whilst they house veterans like Sylar and ddc, the other plays still have a lot of experience to catch up on. Fun fact: ddc is the only all-time TI attendee to not win a TI :(

The player to look out for: Fade. The captain and position 4 player has incredible reaction time and decision making. Easily making VGJT a fun team to watch with his amazing saves and initiations.

Last notable achievements:

  • 2nd at Bucharest Major March

OG

To be honest, I thought OG were going to be one of the top 4 teams of the DPC season - They came out pretty strong at the start of the season winning a handful of Minors but their performances at Major tournaments was lackluster. Even with a few roster shufflers and player swaps, their performance didn't look any better. Their coach, Ceb/7ckingMad, moved into play as Resolution was picked up by VGJ.S and their results were hit and miss. After they didn't make it to the top 8 they decided, to many people's surprise, to sell two of their biggest players (Fly, the Captain and S4, the TI-Winning Offlaner) to Evil Geniuses and picked up Topson who was an up-and-coming Pubstar and re-acquired the services of Ana who helped them win their many Majors in the past. In my eyes, they destroyed Open qualifiers and easily secured their spot in TI8 during the closed qualifiers. I think they'll be a very fun team to watch at TI.

The player to look out for: Topson. He has a relatively high hero pool as well as building unorthodox items on certain heroes but making them work to perfection. A great addition to the OG roster.

Winstrike Team (FKA FlyToMoon)

Winstrike are a very entertaining CIS team. I don't know how else to put it. They failed to qualify for Epicenter during their regional qualifiers but clinched the Madness spot in a BO1 against Team Kinguin. Nobody expected anything from them as Epicenter was a pretty stacked tournaments but the CIS team managed to perform well in Groups and knocked out Pain, OG, Virtus.Pro and finally losing to Liquid in a close 2:1 series. If you don't believe me calling them entertaining, they ran a Pudge Mid on Iceberg during their TI8 Grand Final Qualifier match. They encompass everything people love about CIS Dota and I can't wait to see them kick goals at TI.

The player to look out for: Iceberg. He's had a stint on many CIS counterparts and I think he's one of the most underrated mid players ever. Incredibly talented with an immense hero pool.

Team Serenity

A relatively unknown team from China housing Pubstars - If you don't follow Chinese Dota, you wouldn't know these guys and that's OK. All you need to know is they play some fast-paced Dota (especially for a Chinese team) and their carry player, zhizhizhi, has 9K+ MMR. Finishing 2nd in Group Stages for their TI Qualifiers, they proceeded to beat LFY and IG to secure their spot at TI8. This team is no doubt the biggest Dark Horse for TI8.

The player to look out for: Tossup between zhizhizhi (1) and Zyd (2). Both players are incredibly talented and showcased some impressive individual skill during the qualifiers. Really excited to see them and the rest of Serenity at TI.

Invictus Gaming

Dormant all season and for a good reason. IG provided mediocre to poor results after their 5th-6th finish at TI7 last year. Given a life-raft and being invited as defending champions to DAC 2018, they placed 9th-12th at the hands of Optic. They fought through another chance securing an invite to MDL Changsha but fell short at 9th-10th. Bringing their form back just in time for TI, they managed to battle through the chaos that was the TI Chinese Qualifiers to secure the 2nd Chinese invite to TI.

The player to look out for: Agressif. Once touted one of the best Chinese carries after his incredible performance at TI5 with CDEC, he has been hopping from team to team trying to regather that success. I believe he's incredibly talented and always fun to watch.

Fnatic

What isn't there to say about Fnatic? A bit of drama, long matches, EE, Universe not playing for EG, 10K mid player and easily the best position 4 SEA player ever. Fnatic is easily one of the most entertaining teams to watch play Dota. I think they have a strong chance at shaking things up at TI especially at the hands of DJ. They've been relatively consistent throughout the season but never clinching a victory, in true Cloud 9 fashion.

The player to watch look for: DJ. Hands down, the most incredible player on the team with Abed and Universe a close 2nd. DJ is definitely in my top 5 position 4 players and could even be the best.

TNC Predator

TNC are an incredible team and rightfully named the kings of Best-of-ones after taking games and knocking out teams like VP and Liquid. Their play-style is incredibly aggressive and the love to take team-fights all the time, sometimes to their detriment. Always an entertaining team to watch especially at TI where they've historically given the viewers many upsets knocking favourites out of the tournament. Fun fact; they almost dropped their TI spot to their sister team, TNC Tigers which included SEA stalwart 1437, Indonesian Pubstar inYourdreaM and Vietnamese Pubstar 458.

The player to look out for: Raven. On paper, Raven is one of the best carries playing Dota right now. His stats are incredible and translate into dominating the game with some of the highest streaks and kill scores in the game. The only downfall is that he's been criticized for his late-game decision making which is a critical factor in high-level Dota that would win or lose you the game.

Vici Gaming Jeremy Storm

Going through many iterations throughout the season it wasn't until the acquisition of mercenary Resolution that their results began to show. A newly formed VGJS centered around the star-studded Ukrainian carry player started trading blows with other top teams. They managed to place 2nd in groups at their first Major and make it all the way to the grand finals only to be clean-sweeped by the Chinese titans, PSG.LGD. Their results wavered after Changsha but they looked fantastic during the TI NA Qualifiers being the first NA team to secure their spot at TI. As history shows, Resolution's power increases exponentially during TI - Watch out for this team.

The player to look out for: MSS. Resolution would be too easy of a choice and I think everyone who follows Pro Dota knows of his prowess by now. MSS on the other hand was coined one of the most consistent Offlaners during his stint in Envy's Team NP and now playing position 4 is showing he's an incredibly versatile and skilled player.

Evil Geniuses

I'll get straight to the point. Everyone was expecting EG to perform well during this DPC season and they were inconsistent. They won many qualifiers and pioneered many strategies that other teams perfected (Misery's Support Furion - Could also be credited to Wings.iceice from TI6 but that's a different story) however when it came to the tournaments, they seemed to only be able to win the ones where the top teams were absent (GESC Indonesia). Many people including fans were incredibly worried as their top 8 spot in DPC slowly slipped away. It wasn't until the final straw that was their swift defeat at Birmingham prompted them to change their ways. They acquired the services of veteran Captain, Fly and TI-Winning champion, S4 from OG to fill the void of Fear and Misery which forced them into taking their chances at the Open Qualifiers for TI. Glad to see them make it into TI, whilst I'm not an EG fan I will admit that a TI without EG would be strange.

The player to look out for: They're all star players who do even choose? S4. TI3-Winning Mid player now playing in the offlaner, Gustav can and will carry games when needed.

OpTic Gaming

Optic went through a few iterations before their feet were grounded this season. Starting off with Misery playing 4 and Zai playing Offlane, Misery was then acquired by EG with Optic picking up the relatively unknown Israeli player 33 with Zai moving to his more comfortable position 4. It was a great pickup; OpTic proved to be a force with 33 and Pajkatt playing flexibly and Zai and PPD supporting throughout. They even managed to snag Pajkatt his first LAN. They slowly scraped points together and came incredibly close to qualifying for TI through the top 8 but were denied time and time again by VP. They then managed to scrape through as the last NA team to secure a spot through the qualifiers. Always a treat to watch, especially on the big stage.

The player to look out for: 33. Relatively unknown to many, 33 has incredible micro skills and a vast hero pool. Has carried countless games from many different roles and seems to be as un-tiltable as Secret's Ace. Really glad 33 managed to get a spot at TI.

Pain Gaming

Also tipped to be a relatively big under dog at TI empowered by the acquisition of mercenary w33. Pain have had a rough year; they qualified for many tournaments with their original mid player but failed to get the results at the tournaments. In April, w33 was picked up and even then the results were not instant. It wasn't until ESL One Birmingham that Pain managed to beat liquid in a single BO1 and eliminated them in a BO3 then proceeded to knock out Mineski and Fnatic in playoffs for a 3rd place finish. That being said, that effort was not enough for them to crawl into the top 8 and they had to battle through a rather controversial South American Qualifier.

The player to look out for: Because its TI and people love big teamfights; tavo. I would have picked hFn if it wasn't for tavo's legendary Black Holes and everyone loves their Black Holes especially at TI.

I don't care about hats. There, I said it.

I'm sad that this subreddit turned into customer complaint forum. I can't stand it. There's rarely any meaningful discussion about the actual game. The gameplay patch came and went with only a couple of threads on the front page discussing the changes and meta.

There's barely any drama or competitive talk, which is understandable since the competitive season is in full basement mode preparing for TI.

But, come on! We can only talk about hats, their issue date and how bad they are or how rare the rare ones are. Maybe I'm getting old, but maybe there is a silent majority that also does not give a rats ass about cosmetics.

EDIT: It seems I stirred up the bottom part of the reddit barrel of people that didn't speak up before and there's some amazing posts all the way to the bottom ones in this thread, so thanks for joining in on the discussion!

Check out r/TrueDoTA2/ (thanks to a lot of you who pointed out this subreddit) for something more meaningful regarding dota's gameplay.

P.S. I genuinely feel sorry for all the hat-lovers, it seems there was no bug, just Valve lowering the odds to squeeze every last penny out of you. Thanks for supporting the game, though!

How does dat peoples get invited to ti8 as RU talents?

Posted: 02 Aug 2018 02:51 AM PDT

Sorry for my english

Hello, комрады

Now there is an active discussion of ti8 talents invited

https://i.redd.it/udeb6bygbnd11.png

First of all, why did Valve inveted FOUR commentator from starladder? They have awful stastic during the ti8 qualifiers. I can only understand why the invite CasreRRR (coz he+V1lat - EPIC), but not the Bafik, Droog and Feaver. They have no media during ti7.

https://i.redd.it/sp8hcfwbdnd11.png

About Tonya (4). Her last perfomance in dota-based content was during ti7, than the year of silence. While, for example, Inmate work hard during the year (he castd 600+ games) and give us an extraordinary analytics during the ti7 (and yaeh, he wasn't invited). Is Valve now "tolerance" company like BioWare or smth?

TPOH (5) idk what to say. I don't even know about him until he was invited.

For me ru broadcast is dead, even with some epic talents. There is still no Inmate, no Adekvat, no PGG . They really work hard and got the love of the RU community . Can Valve listen to the community more for the next year?

To all those complaining about Treasure 3...

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 11:27 PM PDT

Please show your current No Dupe State from the Personal Game Data (link is https://steamcommunity.com/my/gcpd/570?category=Items&tab=CrateNoDupeState)

For ti8_immortal_treasure_3, level bundle is EscalationLevel0, QOP bundle is EscalationLevel1, and the WD set is EscalationLevel2. If people aren't receiving anything after the claims of opening 40 or 80 then there's definitely a problem. Somehow though I can't help but believe there's a lot of embellishment going on in terms of how unlucky people claim they are. Again, I could be wrong but there are a lot of claims going both ways as to whether there is a problem or not.

EDIT: To be clear, the number you see in each EscalationLevel is the number of chests you've opened since the last time you opened that treasure. For Treasure 2, there are 4 items which is why OD is EscalationLevel3. If you're seeing super high numbers on EscalationLevel0 and EscalationLevel1, you're potentially very unlucky or a victim of some potential bug with the chest depending on what is actually happening (still impossible to tell with just this data)
