I don't like the new Ping system. Here are some thoughts. Posted: 02 Aug 2018 05:16 AM PDT This isnt a gatekeeping thing. This is a "fundamentally removing fun parts of the game" thing. I don't care if its easier or harder for "noobs". I think a lot of people play Pubg because it is an escape from the marker following simulator that most of the gaming industry has become. It is one of the few games that requires you to ACTUALLY look at the environment around you for everything. Plane drops require you to judge distance and sometimes think hard on how to not lose the drop. Now you can mark its EXACT landing location by clicking it and just follow a marker. I think a lot of people are thinking only about how this will make things more convenient for themselves and thinking how amazing that will be, but not realizing how on the flipside, they will be being put at a disadvantage. Prepare for getting insta spotted by the entire squad you are flanking when one sees you, effectively removing your window of surprise. Think of how much more difficult pulling off clutch wins when you are outnumbered. Or what about in fpp, pinging a tree, dipping behind cover, moving, then be able to pop out of cover and PERFECTLY prefire the tree. Its all just so gross. I feel like this whole gatekeeping narritive is a big strawman argument and that riggles is only listening to the half of the community that currently thinks it's a good idea. If this must become a feature, so be it. But what's next? Grenade indicators? Direction indicators when you are shot at? Hitmarkers? I fear for the future direction of this game. The new PING system should stay.. but it should be modified. (OPINION) Posted: 01 Aug 2018 07:54 PM PDT For some reason, each post about this.. including Riggles posts about the subject, seem to view it as an either/or.. and seem to be completely focused about the communication aspect of things. The fact that communication is simpler isn't really the problem. To be honest, making communication easier, to an extent, is a very good thing for most of the community. The real problem, in my eyes, is that it gives too much information, too quickly, very simply. Good communication is a skill, sure... but that's not the most important thing that's getting sniped with this update. The most important thing is the ability to spot enemies, because if you make it too easy, it diminishes everyone's ability to be stealthy. Stealth is a HUGE aspect of this game, and there are a multitude of items to assist with it (suppressors, ghillies, etc.) This update gives you the ability to immediately mark the exact location of an enemy. It doesn't matter how well they're hidden, it doesn't matter if they have a ghillie suit. It doesn't matter if they're suppressed, or using a VSS. It doesn't matter if they peeked once and aren't currently peeking that spot. All you need is for ONE person to spot them and mark them, and everyone knows EXACTLY where they are. That, to me, is a problem. The easiest compromise, and the one that makes the most sense, is for the "ping" to show up on the mini map, the map, and the compass, but not in the player's actual field of view. It should give your teammates a direction to look, even the distance... but that's ALL it should tell them. This gives you both the easy communication in regards to where enemies are, but at the same time, keeps the skill part, and keeps stealth in the game. It also means that there is still a benefit to good communication. You mark the area and the direction, and then if you describe the tree/rock etc. verbally, that's extra information. This seems like a pretty solid compromise to me. Thought? Edit: I should also mention that the 3D marking is also a problem in terms of showing through objects, as pointed out in the Swag video. Being able to mark a direction/spot without opening your map is great. Having the mark appear in 3D is not. Edit: I'm fine with it appearing in your own field of view, just not your teammates'. I just thought that might be harder to implement. [link] [comments]

Let's begin the move back to OCE servers... Posted: 02 Aug 2018 03:14 AM PDT Hello everyone in the OCE region, I know that most if not many of you are playing on ASIA or SEA servers because the lack of games in OCE but I think if we come up with a time to make the switch back to our server. On Sunday, 5th August at 6PM AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time) we will all queue up for Solo FPP on Mini Royale. Not long after, we will have more players and can spread out to whatever game mode we want. Thanks for listening to my idea :) Comment suggestions. [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Aug 2018 08:25 AM PDT How can this be resolved? 1) simple search of the forum to see if the same guy is spamming the same issue 2) check the comment history of people suggesting things. do they have an overwhelming negative opinion of pubg? then they may not have pubg's best interest in mind so should not be given much priority 3) keep a list of users/accounts of people who clearly have no interest in seeing the game succeed. All the in game banned accounts should be on this list. Somebody clearly did not like that the qbz took too much of the screen when held. This person apparently spammed the subreddit with posts about this and eventually got pubg corp to change this. And the guy tried to justify his spamming of the subreddit by claiming that that whoever kept spamming the subreddit about the qbz issue is clearly pointing out "glaring issue that needs fixing ". I've found that this guy posted 12 posts in a 1 month period on this same topic. I blame the mods. I blame u/PUBG_Riggles for giving these people credibility and therefor encouraging this type of behavior. People like this should not have any say in the game. https://www.reddit.com/r/PUBATTLEGROUNDS/comments/8zpsed/the_qbz_viewmodel_needs_to_be_adjusted_its/ Not surprisingly he does not want the ping feature which is not even live. Did the mods give out the 1,000 PGI shirt codes yet? Posted: 02 Aug 2018 04:04 AM PDT There was a giveaway that ended on 30th July here But the post hasn't been updated to say that the codes have been sent. In the previous giveaways the original post was edited to add 'codes have been sent' or something similar. So my question is have the mods given out the codes? Or did they forget about the giveaway or cancel it or what? [link] [comments]
