[Civ6] Why does alt-tabbing while playing civ 6 stop working?

Posted: 11 Jul 2018 02:34 PM PDT

So sometimes I like to alt-tab while waiting for the AI to resolve it's turns. Eventually it ceases to work. I can choose something else via alt-tab, like a browser or an email program, but the civ game stays on the screen. If I press the window button on the keyboard I can see the pinned programs at the bottom of the screen, but selecting them does not change civ6 being displayed. I tried changing a .txt file to start Civ6 in borderless window mode, problem does not change.

Why does this happen? Does anyone have a solution?

What civ has the best music and why is it Shaka and the Zulu?

Shaka's theme is the greatest, but I could be convinced that Georgia's theme is close.

A simple change for trade deals

Posted: 11 Jul 2018 06:50 PM PDT

Right now trade deals in Civilization are kind of bare bones. You sell a luxury, they gain access immediately. No further. Not only that, but we have a whole other system, trade routes that represents the same thing, but has a different use entirely.

What if, in order to collect your side of the bargain, you would have to send a trade route? So, if you make an exchange for gold per turn, you would have to send a trade route to the other civ's cities. You would still get the bonus that a normal trade route would give you, but now you have a trade route set up going to that civs city, luxuries and gold could then be exchanged.

Just a clarification, if you don't send a trader, you wouldn't gain what the other civ offered, but if the other party sent a trade route, they would get their side of the deal. City exchanges, peace deals, alliances etc would not require a trade route.

Reasons for this change:

-Eliminates cheesy early game strats where players would sell their luxuries to get a free settler or patronized great prophet.

-Makes the game feel more alive. This game revolves around a world map. Game mechanics that aren't somehow represented on the world map feel strange in my opinion.

-Gives external trade more importance. The player will have to actually make decisions on how they will use their trade routes other than the one that gives the most food and production.

-Creates interesting warfare tactics. By pillaging Cleopatra's trade route you could take out her whole economy! Maybe we could even flesh out diplo visibility to see exactly what for she is trading with China.

-Brings alliances closer. Currently, it doesn't really matter who you buy your luxuries from. Wether its from good old Wilhelmina or that shady Shaka with his troops surrounding your capital, spices are spices. With this change you will be incentivised to make deals with people you trade with and trust.

What's the weirdest tactic you've seen on multiplayer ?

Posted: 11 Jul 2018 02:42 PM PDT

I was wondering what was the most 'weird' of 'strange' tactic you have seen people use on multiplayer. How did it work out for them ? What are some of the weird/peculiar tactics you've used yourself ?

Multiplayer Turn Lag Civ 5

Posted: 11 Jul 2018 06:01 PM PDT

This has become a problem lately. My friends and I have all the quick movements on, we are very quick with our turns. But after we all hit next turn, the game takes a really long time to load the next turn. Everyone's ping will rise up to 100s until it goes to the next. It takes 4 minutes on turn 60 which I think is ridiculous. It gets to be a problem late game because around turn 250 or so it actually can take up to 15 minutes for each turn. Please if anyone has a solution to this I would like to know.
