Posting Guidelines Change regarding R6Fix

Posted: 07 Jun 2018 09:05 AM PDT

Hi everyone and happy Para Bellum launch day!

With the launch of R6Fix on the main build for Rainbow Six: Siege, we have gone ahead and changed a rule that we have been reviewing since even before the game launched:

  • Bug reports will no longer be allowed on /r/Rainbow6; bug reports will be redirected to R6Fix

Posts that break this rule should reported as "Ignoring posting guidelines". The rule change will only apply to posts starting today

This rule is primarily focused on text and screenshot submissions that are simple bug reports (i.e. "there's a missing texture on Sledge's Hammer") or bug inquires (i.e."Does anyone else have this issue"), and demonstrations of a glitch or bug. Gameplay that just-so-happens to feature a glitch or bug are still allowed, such as this post from /u/ConwayPA : https://www.reddit.com/r/Rainbow6/comments/6pi4a2/simple_geometry/ . This does not include tutorializing or explaining how to perform a game breaking exploit-- such posts or comments will result in an ban until the exploit is fixed.

For these types of posts (gifs and videos of comedic events) we may implement a bot to still remind people to report these things to R6Fix.

Rationales

Bug reports have long been something the mod team of /r/Rainbow6 has been conflicted about. Since launch, there have been 1000's of bug reports posted to /new. On one hand, we knew that Ubisoft employees check the subreddit and would add these bugs to their internal bug list, but on the other hand, these were absolutely flooding the subreddit especially shortly after a major update. This created an environment where people browsing /new start seeing the exact same bugs dozen and dozens of times which leads to a sense of undue frustration (usually expressed with comments like "check the search bar"). Ultimately, we found that these style of bug reports weren't contributing to the subreddit in a meaningful way.

R6Fix has provided the community with an outstanding solution to this issue; now users can submit issues directly to Ubisoft through a site that is top-down designed to help with the reporting and removal of bugs. This functionality is something that reddit is wholly worse at in every way.

Overall, we feel redirecting to R6Fix is better for the Community as a whole due better bug reports to find issues faster, the subreddit through less clutter on /new, and the devs as there is now a more unified place to find these issues (instead of strung across hundreds of reddit posts).

We have a couple more rules changes that will be rolling out in a few days, but this is something we're immediately enacting, so it's best to announce it now.

For those that want to know more about R6Fix, here is the R6Fix FAQ page

We're happy to hear feedback and discuss any issues!

I'm so happy right now!

Ubisoft, don't make the same mistake Blizzard has made. If you have cheating and boosting problems. Act on it right now! This should be the number 1 priority over ALL things.

Hello,

I am Premier and I have been playing R6 on and off since Chimera. While I mostly played Overwatch, R6 was like the safe game that I could go back to. Even though there are ops that are slightly overpowered and underpowered, I never thought I HAD to use a particular one. The game had relatively better teamwork than Overwatch and people were a lot LESS toxic. But, more importantly it was free of boosters and hackers and the game felt more serene compared to Overwatch.

But lately, there has been a rise of boosters and hackers in the game and this is a concern for everyone related to R6.

Don't make the same mistake Blizzard has made. If you have cheating and boosting problems, you need to fix it RIGHT NOW. This is your #1 priority

Let me tell you a brief history of Overwatch. At its release, it was one of the most popular games in South Korea. How popular? It surpassed League of Legends as the most game played in PC rooms. It was sitting comfortably around 35% at its peak. Think about it, approximately 35% of all gamers were playing Overwatch at its release. This is no easy feat. Many games have tried to beat LoL and nothing even came close.

Do you know how many % of players are playing Overwatch now? 7%. Fucking 7% of gamers in Korea play Overwatch now and it's pretty much a dead game.

How did that happen? Because Blizzard was reluctant to fix few major problems.

First, it was cheating. Second, it was toxic throwers. Third, it is now boosters and each time Blizzard do something about these problems they were just too little too late.

People were screaming for an "Avoid Player" option, better report system, harsher punishments for griefers, hackers, off-meta one tricks, and a "role" queue system and they spent almost 1.5 years just ignoring the community. Surprise to say nobody stuck around playing with hackers, booster, and griefers. I mean who would want to stay? Only die hard fans or just casual players who don't care about ranked stayed.

Blizzard realizing what a huge mistake that they made, they finally decided to implement "Avoid Player" (but maximum of two players), harsher punishments and now they will have LFG system when people can group up together to play.

But, the damage was already done. Nobody in Korea cares about Overwatch now and this is probably the same for many other countries. Everyone is saying that Overwatch is pretty much dead. They now have a huge boosting problem but there are no solutions to it at the moment. People are quitting more and more every day.

You might say, "well, Overwatch League is doing pretty well." Yes, they are doing pretty well because many of the people watching OWL are casual players, and casual players don't really care about balance and about cheaters and boosters because there are NO boosters in casual.

So, please. R6 is doing pretty well and the numbers of players are pretty decent, don't ruin the game by just watching hackers and boosters ruin the game. Act on it right now. The future of this game and its community depend on it!

Maybe just a small amount like 100 - 300 depending on your current level. It's not like that will stop people from buying R6 credits.
