Killing Floor Upgrade system is so boring...

Upgrade system is so boring...

Posted: 13 Jun 2018 09:49 PM PDT

So, first off, I would like to say that I was actually looking forward to the upgrade system. My reasoning? I thought it would actually provide a reason to use some of the lower class of weapons.

One thing that has really grated on me about Killing Floor 2 is that its entire design is based around a weapon tier system, which incentivizes "getting the best weapons" and reduces optimal gameplay variety. Sure, I could choose to waste money and buy a L85 or AK12, but what's the point if I am perfectly capable of holding my own with the AR-15 until I can purchase a SCAR or STONER[really weak, but good for trash]? At the end of the day, it always felt pointless using a lot of the mid tier weapons when I could just play smart with the starter tier and skip all the way to highest tiers. This is especially easy for certain classes to do anyway.

With the upgrade system though, it gave a ray of hope that maybe all of those mid-tier weapons wouldn't be pointless and would have more room in the game. But no, instead all it does is upgrade damage and is often not even worth the Dosh. A ton of weapons don't even need the extra damage.

I think what aggravates me most about the Upgrade system is the fact that it ONLY affects weight and Damage. That is just so fucking lazy, and outright pointless for a lot of weapons. Weapons have more than just damage and weight stats TWI!!!

If anything, the upgrade system should be about not only improving certain aspects of a weapon's stats[maybe an upgrade tweaks the weapon's mobility, fire rate, reload rate, magazine size, total ammo count, etc.], but even how that weapon functions overall. Maybe upgrading a Swat's MP7 to a high tier could give it armor piercing rounds that make it more effective against Rioters, for example. Awesome little interactions like this would incentivize players investing into certain weapons. Upgrading a weapon should be about making it appealing to a player. An upgrade system should be about making the weapons all have the capacity to be in the same tier[but with different costs and obstacles to get there], but do different things. Yes, I think it is fine that if you were to invest 10,000 dosh into your 9mm, that it ends up on the same level as the AM 99. Being on the same level does NOT mean doing the same damage or having the same utility, it just means the 9mm after being upgraded to the highest tier should actually be worth the investment and BE a top tier weapon. This upgrade system has SO much potential and yet it is so lazy right now.

Hell, if anything, upgrading should NOT cost weight. Instead, preferably for endless only, the player should be able to invest a grossly high amount of Dosh into reducing their weapon's weight in order to be able to purchase more weapons and gear for when they take on the nearly impossibly high rounds.

We Need people to agree that we must have Kf2 store sale on Summer Sale!

I've been around this sub for a long time...

Posted: 13 Jun 2018 04:30 PM PDT

I've played thousands of hours on KF, and hundreds on KF2. I purchased as soon as it was available on Early Access. I've seen the game go through a lot of growing pains in that time (anyone remember how this sub looked during the Zedconomy update?).

In this time I've learned two universal truths when it comes to Tripwire:

Truth 1.) Tripwire will inevitably fuck everything up at some point. They have completely fucked the game up several times in the past, it's currently fucked, and it will definitely be fucked again at some point in the future.

Truth 2.) With enough community feedback, Tripwire will absolutely unfuck the game. They are one of the few developers capable of understanding when they've fucked things up, they truly listen to the community, and they almost always put things back into a good place with a followup patch or two.

Try to keep this in mind when everyone's making these posts about the current state of things. Keep voicing feedback on the official forums (use the sidebar), here, and vote on Trello. Maybe now is a good time to reinstall KF and remember how great that game still feels while we wait for Tripwire to begin unfucking.

Anyone know the status of Mrs. Foster for Xbox users?

It's been roughly 2 days since the Sideshow update, and not a word about Mrs. Foster from Microsoft or Tripwire, does anyone know if she's even coming at this point?

You guys are missing the worst part

Posted: 14 Jun 2018 12:48 AM PDT

Yeah the upgrade system and parry cancel are both bad.. and the robots doesn't fit in at all. But the biggest problem is that whenever I turn to the left it speeds up and spins me almost 200 degrees, and when I turn to the right it turns like it did before.. actually a little bit slower. One thing is making changes that take the joy out of the game, but this change has made it unplayable on ps4.

Anyone just magdump like a mad man if they see incoming EDARs? EDARs aren't fun to deal with

Posted: 13 Jun 2018 02:26 PM PDT

On HoE, EDARs have 1007 body HP (+292 body armor) and 385 head HP (+780 head armor). The armor parts of EDAR absorb all incoming damage so EDARs do not take any health damage when you hit their armor.

They have a chest weakness (x3.5 damage both to chest health and chest armor). There is a tiny spot on their chests that allows you to deal 3.5 damage straight to their health pool but it is quite difficult to hit it.

It is quite confusing to deal with EDARs. Normally you would act on your instinct and shoot at their heads and then you realize that you are wasting bullets due to the 780 head armor. You try to hit their chest but they move and dodge a lot. I just said fuck it and spam left mouse like crazy into their chest hoping it would hit the tiny weak spot. If you play Gunslinger or Sharpshooter, EDARs are really painful since you want to let go of your headshots in favor of bodyshots.

Visually, they are confusing too. If you manage to "decap" an EDAR, it is headless but still alive since you only delete the head armor. You have to keep shooting at the neck stump to actually kill it. Also currently the EDARs have the Summer Slideshow skins make it hard to recognize the chest core.

And the audio is not satisfying too. The sound my weapons make even when I hit their heads or chest cores feel very underwhelming. It feels like I'm using peashooters no matter what weapons I have.

Also this may be my personal observation but I feel like EDARs are very similar to Rioter (Elite Alpha Clot). They have armors for chest and heads. The melee attacks are somewhat similar to Clot's attacks too. EDARs are like the tanky ranged versions of Rioter/Elite Alpha.

Vault Dosh Crates broken again?

Posted: 13 Jun 2018 11:38 PM PDT

If I remember correctly, I should be recieving a crate after every 500,000 Dosh collected, but after having my bar filled around four or five times about a month prior to the update release, I have recieved nothing. After the update and prestiging my Field Medic class where I believe I should've been gifted four crates I was given only two. Bug or Feature? I play on Xbox One and have tried numerous times to restart my game and have still earned nothing.

I got these items by accident. Neither I own a copy of RS2: Vietnam nor purchase KF2 during early access. Is it a bug? (Btw can I keep them, Tripwire?)

How to parry mid attack after the update

Posted: 13 Jun 2018 12:41 PM PDT

Do you think twi actually tested the upgrade system?

Posted: 14 Jun 2018 05:49 AM PDT

Most starter weapons like the Winchester rifle or the starter GS pistols do more damage than the top tier weapons of their class and have more ammo, capacity, fire rate, and less weight fully upgraded.

The Winchester fully upgraded weights 7, does more damage than the railgun per shot, fires 4-5 times faster and carries 12x more in magazine and 2x more in reserves.

Like who in the hell at twi thought this was a good idea? To make starter weapons universal at everything and make late game weapons a situational niche.
