| What are some counterintuitive Factorio facts? Posted: 22 Jun 2018 05:18 PM PDT Examples: Steel furnaces are more fuel efficient than electric furnaces (if electricity comes from steam generators) As your factory grows, the square-cube law actually helps you since less proportion of available resources are needed to maintain defences. Changing frequency and size of resource patches may give you the opposite result of what you expect, due to how Perlin noise works. The proper combination of speed and productivity modules will reduce the energy spent per item made. Thousand of flying robots, solar panels, and accumulators slow down the game less than static belts and a few nuclear reactors. Adding a few copper wires to some wood doubles its fuel value. | When you scream so loud your family thinks you died. Posted: 22 Jun 2018 01:46 PM PDT I was playing lovely old Factorio (NEW BATTERIES LOOK SO GOOOOOD), and I'm in my car traversing my (small) train network, notice a train coming along and decide to go before it (BAD IDEA), so it fails, can evade it (i could see dirt on the side of the train), but i let this scream out that can only be described as two hens, a baby and five Satan's stubbed their toe at ones, my whole family come take a look if i am okay, i was. so i just heard there were at least 4 neighbours who came to check what that was........ Don't play with all your windows open.... [link] [comments] | ||

| I created a train system that sends trains to refuel when needed, here it is Posted: 22 Jun 2018 03:32 PM PDT hey guys, I saw a post from a year ago asking if there were any central refueling systems you could make in factorio while trying to find one myself but there was no answer to it, its now archived and i'd like to post the solution here, the system i made has three parts, the main computer, input and pre computer blueprints( the main computer has two variations), but here is the blueprint book for it https://pastebin.com/UPz4YhQ5 , and i made a video to explain how to use it because its I don't think i could explain it here. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to give you the video here but here it is anyways https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFbLYuSGBKY let me know if something doesn't work or if you have questions about it, ill do my best to improve it. I did my best to make it as user friendly as possible, but unfortunately the train ID system doesn't really let me make that automatic for you guys, anyways I hope someone finds this useful.0 [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 22 Jun 2018 10:48 AM PDT tl;dr version: It's a base tour. Here's the link https://imgur.com/a/oBptmrD Our goal was just to finish the game at first, and that took a whopping 160 hours thanks to the complications of Bob and Angel's stuff working together. The next 140 hours or so just focused on making everything faster, barricading the entire base and then going whole ham on science. For reference, the mods used are: The final 2 mods deal with the two things we hate in the game: not being able to fix resources blocking one another in Angel's mineral production, and having to relocate all of our mining all the time. Sorry if that's not "hardcore' enough for you, but we're all adults who enjoy the game how we want. Here's the imgur link for the base tour: https://imgur.com/a/oBptmrD And a bonus video of some mixed belt goodness with insanely fast train unload speeds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wYmwZqpxRE [link] [comments] | ||
| Demo was underwhelming: should I still buy the full game? Posted: 22 Jun 2018 03:58 PM PDT Since it's the Summer Sale, it is of course the time in which I browse for games that I've had my eye on for quite a while, and having seen massive, fully automated plants, completely dominating the environment with nothing in their way, Factorio seemed like the perfect game to satisfy my need to hold absolute control over every minute aspect of the game: since the price is quite high, I decided to play the demo to see if it was worth it. Unfortunately, I found the demo to be quite boring, and lacking in the automation and control content I was looking for: although most of my friends are engrossed with this game, I can't seem to have found that spark which leads to be becoming entranced with the game, at least not to the point of having to pay full price, when there are other games which (from my current point of view) are equally attractive, and have more content at a lower price. TL;DR: Demo was underwhelming. What makes this game worth paying full price over other games that have massive discounts? [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 22 Jun 2018 05:25 PM PDT i was wondering if there was a easy way of setting the ratios in a wagon to for example 2 parts iron 2 parts plastic 5 parts copper i tought it might be a good addition too a mod like fast-filter-fill where you could select certain recipes to get ratio "perfect" amounts of the diffrent resources to the outpost or what not im thinking that it should base the ratios of the raw total that appears when hovering your mouse over a crafting recpe since thats what most playes prefer out sourcing too other outposts [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 22 Jun 2018 06:46 PM PDT https://imgur.com/a/iCBAPxH I know it doesn't look like much, but after a little over a thousand hours play time, I've finally created a mall that doesn't look like a complete spaghettified mess. Best part is I did it all on my own. This isn't saying much for my ability but I'm proud of it. For anyone struggling with this game, if your anything like me there will come a time when it will just click. [link] [comments] | ||
| How to write larger scripts for factorio Posted: 22 Jun 2018 06:44 PM PDT So I've been getting into trying to write scripts for factorio. I have used many other programming languages before so it's not like I'm biting off more than I can chew, I just have to get used to the way you write lua scripting. My issue is that I'm trying to do a lot of searching for items in the world and moving the player, but copy pasting blocks of code into the console doesn't seem like that's the best way to do it. Is there another way to write a script for factorio and have it run in world without having to use the in game console? Any links or referrals to a tutorial would be nice, as I've yet to find what I'm looking for. [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 22 Jun 2018 04:05 PM PDT This would be so much fun for shelling the aliens at long range and the train would be so long it has it's own moving assembly line producing the munitions.
