- I met a stranger outside Kamensk Military base. Warned me of bandits along the highway below, offered ammo for my UMP even though I was much better off. He had no ammo for his Izh, I gave him the only 6 bullets I had, told him to scavenge the rest of the food and clothing at the base. o7 Brother

| Posted: 16 Jun 2018 03:41 AM PDT While playing experimental today, decided to head West after stocking up on water and food from Berezino. As I made my way into the hills and forests, stumbled upon a signboard for hiking trails. Decided to follow one to Gorka, and it was beautiful and scary at the same time. The atmosphere was fantastic, 0.62 was never this good. The sound of the trees, the swaying flora, the forest floor was all very well done. The trails were not always clear and if it was darker, it was possible to lose the trail especially in some spots where the grass or leaves on the ground us meshed up with the trail. It was also scary hiking alone and when it was getting darker and a bit foggy, I was thinking I would lose my shit if something were to pop out of the bushes and grabbed me. Seriously the atmosphere could be for a new horror game. As I approach a visible road and a building further down, I could hear a howling of distant wolves behind me in the forest. I ran as fast as I could into a nearby house and never felt safer. Damn it was good to be afraid in Dayz again. [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 16 Jun 2018 03:17 AM PDT So I have a GTX 970, 16gb memory, i7-4790k oc on 4.5Ghz and since the experimental branch I've been having really poor fps even on the lowest graphics settings. on .62 I could still play on high with around 80-100 fps no problem but now I'm having low 30's [link] [comments] | ||
| [0.63] I shot at a guy coming out of Polana. Big mistake... (zombies are really dangerous now) Posted: 16 Jun 2018 03:17 AM PDT I spawned at Orlovets, looted it, then made my way to Polana. I get into the grocery store, and I hear reloading coming from one of the apartment buildings across the street. I ran out and stationed up on a hill overlooking the town. Guy eventually shows, running down the road that leads north to Gorka. I'm a couple hundred meters away behind some hay bales. I needed loot, so I was going to take my chances. One shot with the Izh-18, miss. The guy bolts off, I lose sight of him behind trees. The first zombie comes in for his dinner, I kill it with my pistol, and then I'm trying to reload my rifle so I can take another shot at the guy when another zombie comes and punches my rifle out of my hands. I had no idea this feature was in, it tripped me up and I panicked a little. Another one comes, and another. I'm getting ripped to shreds. I unload on them with my pistol, run out of ammo, pull out my knife and melee the last one. I'm at critical health level, limping, bleeding. There's no way in hell I was going to take this player out now, and I had no idea if he was advancing on me after seeing me get my ass shredded by zombies. So I turn tail and starting limping my ass into the forest as fast as I can. I was fucking scared. If this guy saw me limping after that, he'd know I was easy prey and there's no way I'd be able to outrun him. I got into the woods a couple hundred meters, ate some food, drank, then continued on my way. I saw the guy later on in Gorka, but I lost him in the town and that was that. TLDR; zombies and limping are going to make for some really interesting fights from now on. It's really cool. [link] [comments] | ||

| Wow, this actually feels like a survival game now. Posted: 15 Jun 2018 06:48 PM PDT The last time I played Dayz was a few months ago. Today I installed 0.63, ran into town, picked up an axe, saw a few zombies. No problemo, just mow the first one down and then flee. Didn't work, not sure why. They hit me in return though. Started limping, couldn't escape, dead in a matter of seconds. Pretty cool. Now I only dare sneaking around houses and playing it cautiously. edit: On my 2nd respawn I asked a random guy "hey do you wanna team up?" - You are dead. Okay. Some things never change. | Posted: 16 Jun 2018 03:38 AM PDT Hey guys, love the experimental but can't figure out how to chamber without dragging from my inventory, is there a way? [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 16 Jun 2018 12:24 AM PDT So i spent some thoughts on this since the current 0.63 looting/surviving behaviour wasnt really fun to me. The problem, at least for me, is that food can spawn in too many different buildings with roughly the same chance. Now ideally every move in dayz should be a risk and reward scenario, like visiting military bases. good loot --> many players --> danger. But since food is distributed so evenly, we dont really have high risk and reward here. When looting a town we have to check every house since it could spawn food at a low rate. What if we would reduce that chance and create little food hotspots like supermarkets? This would eliminate the frustration of searching 20 houses without getting food and make looting more thrilling, since other players also would try to loot these hotspots. Think of diablo 2 vs 3: what was more fun, specifically farming bosses for runes/legendaries or just running rifts for hours until that specific thing drops? i think its better to have more control. like military bases, we should be forced to plan our moves: i need weapons, do i really want to go to that police station? there is a big market with lots of food, but should i risk getting shot there? what do you guys think about that? i also hope that the stomach limit mechanic will force us to loot these things more frequently instead of only in the beginning. | Some interesting player interaction suggestions. Posted: 16 Jun 2018 04:56 AM PDT TL:DR random things that require multiple people to open. And let people choose between a few spawn locations so they can play with their friends dammit. So i was watching a DayZ youtuber by the name of "iCanFlayJake" and he was outlining some ways to make NEAF more interesting. He suggested adding like, reloading stations to areas and allowing players to guard them while others use scrap they found to craft ammunition. While I do think there needs to be more junk items spawning to add some fluff and filler loot, thats not the point. He also brought up an idea about hidden survivor caches and bunkers that could spawn and drive players to them. Here is my suggestion. Would it be possible or logical to implement random spawning doors or bunkers that could be "rusted shut" requiring X amount of players to open it. Inside could be a treasure trove of medium to high tier loot that no one player should have any business taking all of it. He would crush himself under the weight. Enough for two or even 3 people to walk away very happy. The key is the random part, this isn't something a squad should be able to server hop for. One player finds it, trys to open it and is met with the message "this door requires 3 people to open". This player now has a choice, neglect the loot and continue with his lone wolf play-style, or seek the help of others. He decides to seek help. He meets a player or two and states that he knows the location of a hidden cache and requires the help of these people to open it. These players now see more than the loot this man carries on his back. but the promise of an even greater fortune. They travel to the location and either honorable split the loot, or greed takes over and a bloodbath occurs. This is DayZ after all. It would be nice stumbling across a opened door, hidden bunker, or locked cargo container, and seeing 3 dead players around it with all the loot intact. Next is the need to allow players to choose a few spawn locations around the map, kinda like the mod. The funnest part about DayZ is being able to play with your friends. Go on a journey together and explore, loot, thrive, or die together. It seems crazy to me that players who want to play with their friends are locked behind a 30min to 2hr wall to get what they want most. Yes, experienced players kind met up relatively quickly and are used to this. However new players, who have no idea about the map or the rules of survival. Will spend all day trying to find their friends. Yes, im aware of the mentality that this is apart of DayZ. Trying to find people. But all too often new players will just quit and give up because they cant find their mate to play with. Even more infuriating for these players is when they spend 2 hours looking for their friend. They FINALLY find each other, starved and weakened. Then get rekt by billy badass so they rage quit. I have 3 friends, ALL OF WHICH have over 900hrs in the game and TO THIS DAY, they wont get on and play with me unless I tell them im in the city they are at because they dont feel like running for an hour to find me. They just want to play together. Thoughts? [link] [comments] | ||

| Repairing items in experimental Posted: 16 Jun 2018 01:58 AM PDT Is there something I'm missing or do both sewing kits and duct tape not work? I've tried having the item I want to repair on the ground and dragging the sewing kit to it, having the item I want to repair in my hands, having the sewing kit in my hands and dragging the item to it, having the item I want to repair on the ground and looking at it with the sewing kit in my hands.... Am I doomed to damaged clothes? [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 16 Jun 2018 04:35 AM PDT We are always joining full or high pop servers, but hardly ever see or hear anyone. Not in Electro, cherno, zelerno, vybor, nwaf and all military camps in between. In earlier version we met other survivors much more often. Where are you guys? [link] [comments] | ||

| In-Game sounds while voice chatting Posted: 16 Jun 2018 08:06 AM PDT Hello DayZ community, Exp is finally upon us and I'm enjoying it alot so far and espically the new ambient noises. Team did a great job on them. I'm writing this to ask for any fix if you guys know of regarding using Steam voice chat while playing 0.63 DayZ. As soon as you start ringing, the in-game sounds decrease alot and sounds like they are muted with the only exception of gun shots/your footsteps. If no fixes available, where could I report this 'bug'. Thanks [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 16 Jun 2018 07:53 AM PDT I'm a bit disappointed, doesn't really feel "good to play in", it looks better visually, but from my 4-5 runs it just plays really boring-ly. It feels like a big federation of small military bases rather than one big military airfield. [link] [comments] | ||
